Alzheimer's Disease, named after German neurologist Alois Alzheimer, is medically defined as: "Presenile dementia, characterized by confusion, memory failure, disorientation, restlessness, agnosia, speech disturbances, inability to carry out purposeful movements, and hallucinosis. The disease usually begins in later middle life with slight defects in memory and behavior and occurs with equal frequency in men and women." Mosby's Medical Dictionary, 3rd edition, p. 49
Basically, Alzheimer's disease is a condition of neurological atrophy or degeneration, more commonly known as dementia.
An estimated 4 million U.S. citizens suffer from Alzheimer's disease and it is reported that dementia is the fourth leading cause of death in people over age 60 with Alzheimer being the killer of some 100,000 people per year in the United States.
On the physical level, Alzheimer's disease is the result of poor diet, lack of minerals and oxygen to the brain, and mental wear and tear due to extreme use of the mind for mundane and trivial matters indicative of and common to the Western world which is why you don't hear about elderly people in the Eastern world losing their mental faculties, at least to the same degree as people here in the Western world (unless these people pick up Western ways of thinking and living).
When the brain atrophies it is a sign of one thing more than any other: lack of oxygen to the brain! When there is lack of oxygen to the brain, the mind will not function properly! Period!
In the United States people generally don't have optimal mental functioning power due in part to very low oxygen levels in the environment (less than 19% in the U.S.; for optimal health, oxygen levels must be at 38%), and then you also have to consider what Americans do to their bodies, including their brains, by the things they eat and the things they do, especially their vices of smoking cigarettes, consuming drugs, and consuming alcohol.
And let's not forget about television and what it does to the mind. Watching the typical programming on television does not refine the mind at all. It actually stifles and stagnates the thought process.
And then what about use of radiation to the brain area via the use of Walkman stereo earphones, cellular phones, and now i-pods and M3P players, and Blue Tooth ear pieces?
Heavy metal toxicity is also greatly implicated in Alzheimer's disease. The greatest culprit undoubtedly would have to be aluminum, a notorious waste product (though not classified as a heavy metal) that is disposed of via food and products that humans consume and utilize.
Aluminum is purposely put into many products that people, especially Americans, consume and use, including baking soda, antacids, antidiarrheal products, deodorants (listed as "alum"), commercial douche preparations, shampoos, and a host of food additives. So beware and check those ingredient listings on the labels of things you purchase.
Much aluminum residues entered the bodies of many baby boomers via use of aluminum products, i.e. TV Dinners, aluminum foil, and aluminum cookware (pots, pans, skillets, etc.).
The head of the human body is always the first part of the body to show signs of degeneration. Why? Because it is located in the highest part of the body. The body has difficulty in circulating oxygen up past the heart. What's located above the heart? Is it not the head which houses the brain? This is why it is the head that suffers from degeneration first. You see, humans have their heads higher than their hearts. In the Bible we are told to renew our youth like the eagle. Why the eagle? Because the eagle flies with its head lower than its heart. There is science and wisdom here!
The Metaphysics of Alzheimer's Disease
For every disease and pathology, the metaphysical principle of "As above, so below" applies. Neurological disorders have karmic implications in many cases and instances. Many people in past lives simply didn't use their minds the right way. People destroyed their own brains - with use of drugs and intoxicants. Or, they used their brains to think of the most horrible things to harm other people, like military devices and weapons: bombs, grenades, guns, and other explosive devices that do harm. Wicked and evil thought creates karma! It most certainly does!
Lise Bourbeau states the following pertaining to the emotional block that leads to Alzheimers disease:
"Alzheimer's disease is used to escape reality of the present. Those afflicted with this disease are often the type to have taken care of everything. They had a wonderful memory that they were very proud of an even liked to show off. It was often misused, however, by storing trivial details that others thought unimportant. These people often felt bound to others and felt that others weren't taking care of them as they would have liked. Today, this disease relieves them of responsibilities and helps them control others, especially those that care for them."
Lise and I both agree that Alzheimer's deal with the mind. Memory ties in to the mind, so are views are not entirely similar, but they do both jive with one another because we both link the disease to the mind.
I remember when my ex-wife's grandmother developed Alzheimer's disease. My ex-wife's mother reported to us one day that her mother was doing very strange things like sitting on top of the television set. All I could do was wonder to myself and ask the question "what would make a person completely flip the hell out and lose control of their mental faculties?"
The condition of Alzheimer's got so bad the poor lady had to be hospitalized. I remember going to the hospital to visit her with my ex-wife one day and the poor lady was strapped down, like a savage animal or something. I knew this would kill that woman's spirit. It wasn't too long that the woman died in the hospital. It was the first time I consciously looked at a dead body. She was stiff (rigor mortis had set in) and she was purple. Her mouth was wide open - spirit had just left her body a few hours ago.
There was so much my ex-wife and I could of done to help her grandmother but the grandmother was in the care of her daughter, my ex-wife's mother and this woman is 100% by the rules of the System and proud of it.
You better raise your children right because one day they may have to make decisions for you and your life may depend on their decision.
My ex-wife's grandmother could have lived longer had she been able to remain at home with her loved ones (family). However, these days, especially with African-Americans, there's such a breakdown in the family structure that we no longer have time to take care of our ill elderly loved ones. We are too busy making our living (while killing ourselves in the process) to take care of our elders. We just ship them off to an old folks home and let strangers deal with them. You didn't see this back in the 1970s, 1960s and 1950s and beyond. There was always someone to look after an ill elderly family member. In all honesty, back in the day most black families couldn't afford to put an elderly member in a nursing or convalescent home. The money simply wasn't there. But things have changed since Blacks are doing better financially and economically. We now do a lot of things we didn't use to do, things today that aren't really salubrious.
Our elders used to die at home in their beds, but nowadays, they die in convalescent, nursing, or old folks homes amidst strangers. Just another client or patient, or a bill that brings the center or facility profit!
A whole industry has sprung up as the result of our society being one based upon being too busy to look out for or look after ill loved ones. This is across the board regardless of race, ethnicity, or nationality. It's the Western or American way nowadays!
No more family members (grandchildren, aunts, etc.) to share the duty of taking care of the ill elderly family member. They have become a burden to us. They are in our way! We are just too busy doing 'our thing' to take care of the ones who were responsible for us being here in the flesh, i.e. parents and grandparents.
I am not indicting the entire convalescent or nursing home industry because it is needed in our society based upon our collective mindset as a nation, for without it there would be a great deal of cases of elderly neglect. That's for sure!
It's still hard for me to fathom black historian and scholar Dr. Yosef Ben Jochanan being in a nursing and rehabilitation center in Bronx, New York. All that great work the man did for his people and it is reported that he is in need, in need of clothes, underwear, socks, books, etc.
Louis Farrakhan should personally bring Dr. Ben any book he desires since Dr. Ben donated his vast library to Farrakhan's Nation of Islam a few years ago. Why should Dr. Ben be in need when Farrakhan has all that money there in Chicago at his disposal? And after all, one good deed deserves another. Dr. Ben did a good thing by donating his library to the Nation of Islam (though personally I feel it could have gone to a more worthy organization, one that is less religious and more cultural).
You see, this is what happens when you are a part of "the Struggle." You will indeed struggle. You are bound to struggle when you embrace a "struggle consciousness." I know because I was once down with "the Struggle" until I became wise and started working smarter rather than harder. I started using the System (for my purposes) rather than expending valuable energy fighting and resisting the System, a System that the people keep in tact due to dependence (on the System), personal irresponsibility and unaccountability, fear, indolence, ignorance, and unconsciousness. The Matrix (System) lives and thrives because people serve as its spark plug.
So in the "Cause" or "Struggle" you're fighting and resisting the System for the people and the people are unconsciously and unknowingly keeping that very same system alive via willful participation into the schemes of the System, i.e. voting/elections, payment of certain forms of taxes, receiving and paying random taxes via parking and traffic tickets, getting government required vaccinations,
Now many will be mad at me for saying what I'm saying here, but in 2009 where has the struggle led folks? Where? What are the fruits of the struggle? Are the people better off, especially here in the United States?
Donations have to be collected now for the great scholar because the people whom he served for many decades didn't take care of the man when he was on his feet lecturing all over the nation.
As my good friend Minister 8-Ball of New York quoted Rev. Ike as saying pertaining to black power and economics: "Black power without green power yields NO power!" I have to concur here!
Another good friend of mine, Sidiki Bakari, elucidated on my weekly inter-net show "Chopping It Up Live" recently that it was Dr. Ben's family who put him in the nursing home because while at home Dr. Ben wasn't listening to his nurses. While the family THINK they are doing the right thing by Dr. Ben, in all due honesty they are hurting the man - hurting his spirit because even in our states of sickness, we still know what we want; we still have our free will. But others think they know what's best for us and they make decisions that suit their own personal needs, worries, and concerns, and not really the person's.
Free will is violated here. In my opinion the family should let Dr. Ben stay at home and do as he pleases. They should just make sure he has a nurse around in case he has an accident or something; but that nurse should simply be an over watcher. Nothing else! When we are in places against our free will, it kills our spirit - the spirit to live because it's not graceful to the aging process, plus we develop negative feeling or emotion and thoughts (i.e. bitterness, apathy, anger, frustration, sorrow, hate) which causes the endocrine system to produce gases that speed up the impairing of the bodily organs, glands, and systems and thus brings on death so as to get free of the state and condition.
Being in a facility while in a sick body is like being in prison two times: the prison of the body on top of the prison of a man-made institution (nursing home).
Healing Alzheimer's Disease Naturally
Of course the daily diet has to be modified. A raw foods vegan diet is best. Animal products and byproducts in addition to refined grains will only produce more mucus that will impair circulation of oxygen and nutrients through the blood stream. These things will only produce more mucoidal plaque, unhealthy cholesterol, and other debris that will stick to the walls of the arteries and impair healthy circulation.
If aluminum is in the food, then the aluminum just as the heavy metal toxins will deposit in the blood vessels of the brain and inhibit oxygen (due to inhibiting blood flow) which will cause deterioration of the brain and thus impair the mental faculties, i.e. memory, the thought process, cognition, etc.
So a raw foods vegan diet will be best for the healing of all degenerative diseases.
Good waters to drink for healing purposes include distilled water (as it attracts unhealthy mineral deposits) and alkaline water (which causes the tissues to dump off toxins).
Pharmaceutical drugs are NOT needed at all because they will do more harm than good. A sick person doesn't need drugs. They need nutrition, oxygen, alkalinity, solar energy (sunlight) and good vibrations.
Oxygenating and nervine herbs are needed to help heal from Alzheimer's disease. Good oxygenating herbs include: gotu kola, gingko biloba, black walnut hulls, blessed (or holy) thistle, damiana, and yohimbe bark to name a few.
Gotu kola is perhaps the best herb for Alzheimer's as this herb naturally contains bio-aluminum which has an attraction for man-made aluminum. The bio-aluminum in gotu kola is negatively charged whereas man-made aluminum is positively charged, so gotu kola pulls harmful aluminum out of the body.
Good nervine herbs include kava kava, jatamansi, valerian root, chamomile, lavender flower (buds), skullcap, passionflower, catnip, St. John's wort, lily of the valley, wild lettuce, blue and vervain.
Dherbs.com compounds that are useful in healing Alzheimer's disease include: Brain Tuner (helps oxygenation), Nerves Formula, Central Nervous System Formula, Ethereal Bliss, Circul-Aid Formula, Veins Formula, 6th Chakra Elixir, and 7th Chakra Elixir.
It's a good idea to get the person into yoga (but nothing strenuous due to the age of the person).
Get the person out into Nature as much as possible. Nature is very healing! The waters and sand of the beach, the grass, trees, plants, and flowers, etc. Remember that Alzheimer's disease is a disease of civilization and civilization really means "imprisonment" - imprisonment from Nature.
