Diarrhea

by Djehuty Ma'at-Ra

Diarrhea is medically defined as "The frequent passage of loose, watery stools, generally as the result of increased motility in the colon. The stool may also contain mucus, pus, blood, or excessive amounts of fat. Diarrhea is usually a symptom of some underlying disorder. Conditions in which diarrhea is an important symptom are dysenteric diseases, malabsorption syndrome, lactose intolerance, irritable bowel syndrome, GI tumors, and inflammatory bowel disease. In addition to stool frequency, patients may complain of abdominal cramps and generalized weakness. Untreated, diarrhea may lead to rapid dehydration and electrolyte imbalance and should be treated asymptomatically until proper diagnosis can be made.” Mosby's Medical Dictionary, 3rd edition, pg. 367

Basically, diarrhea is a SYMPTOM of a deeper underlying causative factor. When diarrhea is present, the body is attempting to expeditiously remove something from the body (the colon).

Diarrhea is usually the case, but not exclusively the case, when the stools are so hard they cannot be excreted naturally, so the Body Intelligence takes water from other parts of the body (from the tissues) and sends it to the colon so as to help liquefy the stools so they can be defecated out of the body. This is what diarrhea primarily denotes – help with removing hardened stools from the body.

Diarrhea is also a healing crisis and we commonly tell people this who experience diarrhea while performing the Full Body Detox or one of our other kits and regimens. There's nothing to worry about! The body is doing what it has to in order to help you out from the damage you caused in your ignorance, mostly eating dead so-called foods that clearly lacked enzymes (life force, plant essence).

Dead food (meat, dairy products, refined grains, etc.) basically sits in the colon and simply putrefies but due to lack of hydration in the body and specifically the colon, eventually hardens (like bricks). This is why many people have grave difficulty pooping (defecating). It's because their stools are hard and dry like cement bricks.

Causes of Diarrhea

There are many causative factors for diarrhea. "Among the many possible causes of diarrhea are incomplete digestion of food, food poisoning, stress, bacterial, viral, or other infection; consumption of contaminated water; pancreatic disease; cancer; the use of certain drugs; caffeine; intestinal parasites; inflammatory bowel disease such as ulcerative colitis or Chron's disease; and the consumption of certain foods or chemicals, such as beans, caffeine, unripe fruits, spoiled or rancid foods, and foods the body cannot tolerate. Food allergies are often the cause of diarrhea. Emotional stress also can cause diarrhea. Acute diarrhea accompanied by fever and mucus or blood in the stool can be a sign of infection or the presence of parasites.” – Phyllis A. Balch, C.N.C.

Healing Diarrhea Naturally

Because I view diarrhea as something that helps the body (healing crisis), I don't recommend stopping it but facilitating it so as to help the function in order to help your body. Diarrhea is an attempt by the body to help you pass things from the body (rectum), usually hardened and stubborn stools. So let diarrhea take its natural course on your behalf. Elimination from the body is a good thing.

When diarrhea is present, drink plenty of water, preferably alkaline water or electrolyte enhanced water if you can locate it (or if you have an alkaline water machine). Because a case of diarrhea utilizes much water content in the body, it can lead to a bout with dehydration and demineralization or electrolyte loss. So drink plenty of water if diarrhea is present and add sea salt to the water to replace lost sodium. The body loses sodium when there is diarrhea. Electrolytes can be replaced with a good liquid mineral solution.

You can help your colon (intestinal tract) out by periodically cleansing your colon and rectum. Great colon cleansing herbs include Senna, Cascara Sagrada, Buckthorn, Aloe Vera Resin, Glucomannan, Bibitaki, Bilwa, Black Walnut Hulls, and Mandrake (a controversial herb but is highly effective).

In addition to colon cleansing herbs, use mucilaginous and fiberous-bulking herbs. Mucilaginous herbs include Slippery Elm Bark, Irish Moss, Gum Arabic, Guar Gum, and Pamita. Fiber-bulking herbs include Psyllium Husk and vegetable cellulose.

Dherbs.Com formulas that are great for colon cleansing, care, and maintenance include the Full Body Detox, 10-Day Supreme Colon Cleanse; Bowel Mover (a strong laxative formula), Colon Conditioner (a colon conditioner with mild laxative and aperient properties), Sen-Fen (a cathartic), Intestinal Janitor (a fiber-providing, mucilaginous, and bulking agent), and Bowel Mover tea.

I also highly recommend colonics (colon irrigation) and enemas (which can be performed by yourself in your bathroom).

Four ounces of prune juice nightly is also very effective for the maintenance of the colon and to keep the bowels moving.

Drinking plenty of water and eating plenty of fruit (mango, papaya, plums, peaches, figs, prunes, etc.) is the best regimen for a clean and optimally functioning colon.

Placing a carnelian stone in a glass of water over night (exposed to moonlight) and making an elixir is great for colon health. This water (elixir) can be bottled in a cobalt or amber bottle and stored in a dark place. You can drink an ounce per day to help maintain the health of the colon.

No matter what you are dealing with, there is relief for you and better than that, there is healing for you. Always remember this! Never focus on the sickness or disease; focus on the healing!
