Neck Pain and Problems

Being medically technical, the neck is a constricted section, such as the part of the body that connects the head with the trunk. Other such constrictions are the neck of the humerus and the neck of the femur. Mosby's Medical Dictionary, 3rd edition, p. 797

Neck pain can result from a host of things, situations, and scenarios, i.e. injuries (perhaps an automobile collision, a concussion), sleeping awkwardly over night, holding the phone to your shoulders too much, lifting weights (doing squats with the bar on your neck), etc.

Neck pain can be very distressing and disturbing. But no matter what the cause of the neck pain, unequivocally there's a metaphysical causation at play. Energy is always at the root of our problems including injuries and diseases.

According to metaphysician Lise Bourbeau, "Because the neck is the link between the head and body in a physical sense, metaphysically it joins the spiritual world to the material world. Neck pain is usually felt when moving the neck in a certain direction."

Bourbeau goes on to state:

"Pain and stiffness in the neck denote inflexibility in thinking. You may be in a situation that you feel you can't control as you wish. You may feel someone or something around you has become a pain in the neck. Perhaps you are uncomfortable with what you feel is going on behind your back. Whatever the issue, you pretend it does not bother you, but in fact you feel as if stuck in an emotional roller coaster. Remember that your reality is based on your perception and is therefore completely within your control. If your fear is related to what's going on behind your back, become aware that this is the result of your imagination working overtime. I suggest you check with the people concerned and express your beliefs and fears."

A well known (in the medical field) but little known neck problem is TORTICOLLIS.

Torticollis is a health condition in which the head leans to one side because the neck muscles on that side are contracted. On a deeper level pertaining to causation of this problem, "you have leaned toward a certain decision that you must straighten out by altering your belief system.

Now let's move on to underlying causes of neck pain for many people.

A major cause of neck pain is stress. We tend to hold stress and tension in our neck in addition to our shoulders and that's why massage of the neck and shoulders is so healing. It releases pent up stress and tension. When you have pockets under your skin (which is very common in the back, especially when there is stress) massage is the remedy. These little pockets of stress can be massaged out over time. The right massage therapist, i.e. a Melinda Loo, Doyle Smith, Melissa Wright, or Ashley Ellis (all located here in Los Angeles, California) can undoubtedly help remove these little stress pockets.

While the pain in the neck may denote dealing with people, events, and/or circumstances that you consider to be a pain in the neck, pain in the shoulders may denote shouldering too much responsibility or carrying a burden.

I should also state in this literary piece that the neck and shoulders area is a major toxin release site on the body. This is why women who experience and suffer from menopausal hot flashes experience a heating sensation in the neck and shoulders area. This is usually always the case when hysterectomy has been performed. You see, when hysterectomy is performed, an eliminative channel (the uterus) is removed from the body and there are ramifications for this unnatural act. The uterus is a woman's sixth eliminative channel (sometimes said to be the vagina, but the uterus expels via the vagina).

Hot flashes are the body's attempt to throw off toxins at the neck and shoulder area so as to compensate for the lack of the uterus, which also throws off toxins. The body has to compensate in conditions whereby surgical removal of an organ has occurred and this is what happens when a woman has her uterus removed via hysterectomy. Hot flashes naturally occur in women who have just undergone a hysterectomy.

Healing Neck Pain Naturally

As a test, note whether the stiffness and pain in your neck is more predominant when you nod your head yes or shake your head from side to side as in no. Then ask yourself what it is you need to make a decision about at this time. Is it more difficult to say yes or no? If yes is more painful, the reason you are refusing to say yes to a situation or to a person is not valid. Ask yourself what it is you are afraid of and evaluate this fear. Check with the person to see if your fear is justified. Simply, if you feel pain in your neck when you nod yes, your body is telling you that your decision should be yes and that your stubbornness and inflexibility are the obstacles you face in making the appropriate decision. The same applies if the pain occurs when shaking your head no. - Bourbeau supra

Terminate all situations in your life that you consider to be a pain in your neck. Learn to work mental science. All you need is knowledge and time to do so. I highly recommend our "The Mental Science Manual" e-book for purposes of helping you to get your mind and attitude right.

Get your neck massaged once, twice, or thrice per week (if you can afford to). Massage (especially deep tissue) is very therapeutic. You can find reputable massage therapists in Dherbs.com Alternative Directory located on our website.

Neck exercises (like head rolls) can be helpful if they don't exacerbate the pain. Head rolls (commonly performed during yoga) also release pent up stress and tension.

Acupuncture and acupressure may serve very helpful in elimination of neck pain.

Applying a hot pack and/or cold pack may also serve as very therapeutic for neck pain.

Without a doubt, chiropractic work is highly recommended. People should see a chiropractic simply for health purposes and not just for some medical remedy. If your neck (and/or shoulder pain is chronic), I highly suggest you visit a chiropractic.

Magnet therapy will greatly help neck pain. Wear moderately powerful magnets on the neck (mostly in the daytime). Always apply the side of the magnet that denotes the North side to the skin as the North side of a magnet is healing and the South side is stimulating.

In cases of neck pain, you would not want to stimulate the pain, but eliminate it altogether. Search the Inter-net and search for magnetic neck braces. The more powerful the magnet (i.e. higher the gauss), the better!

When sleeping, make sure your head is resting on a memory foam pillow (if you sleep with a pillow), like an Ortho Mattress-produced or Select Comfort-produced pillow. These are really therapeutic. I own two of them myself. They may cost around $75 to $100 but are totally worth the cost. Take it from me!

Dherbs.com products that can help heal neck pain include "MSM Sulfur" , " Headache and Pain Formula", and " Nerves Formula."

Good essential oils than can be rubbed or massaged into the neck include: Cinnamon Leaf (never use cinnamon bark oil on the body), Peppermint, Wintergreen, Spearmint, and Lavender oil. Always apply a carrier oil to the skin before applying essential oils. Good carrier oils include olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil, avocado oil, sesame oil, etc.
