So he's saying that what is taught in the new age movement doesn't work anymore, which is basically that you can control your life and surroundings via thoughts, energy, frequencies, and vibrations. So if this does not work, what is the dark side that he now says works. He hinted at the subconscious being powerful, but don't you control you subconscious via your thoughts?

It sounds interesting on the surface, but I'm not sold on the dark side.

Ok. What I thought he was sayings was that the things taught in this wave of new age books, which I have found to mostly deal with thoughts, energy, and vibrations, doesn't work anymore. I thought he was saying that was the old magic.

He is talking about new age magick stuff like wicca, golden dawn and other fluffy things they be selling in Barnes and Nobles and Borders, which from my small experience doesn't work very well because the energy there is dead and they really don't deal with anything real.
