One sore I might never tire picking at is perking hair.
Do you know that during autopsy's of black women who perm the skull is often covered in green slime linked to the chemicals used in perms?
The skull has pores people!!!
You are destroying your brain!!!

I like hearing other peoples views. It can be very interesting.

My cousin saw the film and she was actually inspired to go natural.  I guess it was positive for some after all!!!!

I watched the movie this weekend with a group of natural women.

It was entertaining, but parts of it made me cringe, like when they were showing a 4 year old getting a relaxer. Or asked another 4 year old if she liked getting relaxers, she said no--but then when he asked if he should get his girls relaxers, she said yes.  When he asked her why, she said because that's what your supposed to do.

Also, they had a scene with a group of high school girls, one of whom had natural hair they asked questions about careers--all the girls with relaxers all considered natural hair to be unprofessional or rebellious.  One specifically said that a business suit and a natural hairstyle do not go together.  So sad.  Recently, I went to work with an afro and my coworkers said they preferred it to the other styles (usually twists or a bun) I wear, interesting.

that scene was tough. i felt for the sis with the natural because she didn't say anything to counter their remarks.

the only person in the film who verbalized that she embraced herself fully was the woman who had no hair (due to alopecia). i thought that was interesting!

The film was great and I thought very well balanced. One of the best Black films I have seen in a long time. I liked what Al Sharpton said about us wearing our economic exploitation on our head. So true. I have always thought that if we are going to poison or process our head we might as well benefit from it financially. Check it out though yall!
