To all the people who love coffee, you don’t have to be ashamed about your love for it. Instead of drinking four cups a day (yikes!), consider incorporating those grounds into your skincare routine. Coffee grounds contain numerous anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that help benefit the skin. 

The American Chemical Society found that coffee is the most popular source of antioxidants in the United States. That’s only because people in the U.S. drink so much coffee. Those antioxidants, however, are dampened by the sugar, creamers, and syrups that people put in their coffee. You can incorporate the grounds into face masks, scrubs, pastes, lotions, or creams. When you apply a coffee infused product, or coffee grounds, to the skin, it helps to improve complexion and circulation, which contributes to a youthful appearance. 

Coffee Helps To Exfoliate

As it turns out, you can make a cup of coffee and then incorporate the grounds into a scrub. When you massage a coffee scrub into your skin, it helps to strip away dead skin cells and built-up bacteria. You can even mix coffee grounds and coconut oil for a simple lip scrub that keeps your smackers supple and soft. Additionally, coffee grounds work to increase circulation, which can reduce the appearance of cellulite. Coffee is a gentle exfoliant, which is great if you have sensitive skin. 

Coffee For De-Puffing Under Eyes

When you wake up after a deep slumber, you don’t want to look in the mirror and see puffy eyes. Here’s a little beauty hack for you: applying coffee to the skin can help remove water and shrink blood vessels, both of which help reduce puffiness. The reason this happens is because of the caffeine content. Did you know that the area under your eyes is a lymphatic channel? Since it doesn’t drain easily, it is your responsibility to enhance lymphatic drainage. Turn to coffee to help remove unattractive puffiness or under eye bags. 

Coffee Reduces Dark Circles

Most people drink a cup (or four!) of coffee to get rid of dark circles under their eyes, but they could use a coffee-infused lotion instead. As we mentioned earlier, caffeine improves circulation, helping to tighten the skin and brighten complexion. Additionally, coffee has collagen-boosting properties that help to lighten up the area under your eyes. When you apply a coffee-infused lotion or cream at night, you’ll wake up with moisturized and hydrated skin under the eyes.

DIY Coffee Eye Cream

Ingredients For Coffee Infused Oil:

• 3 tablespoons whole coffee beans, ground 
• 4 ounces olive oil (coconut oil works too)

Instructions For Coffee Infused Oil:

• Combine the coffee grounds and oil in a small saucepan over low heat. Cook for 15-30 minutes. 
• Remove the saucepan from the heat and strain the infused oil through a cheesecloth. Save the strained oil in a jar and get read to make the coffee eye cream. 

Ingredients For Coffee Eye Cream:

• 3/4 ounce shea butter
• 3/4 ounce cocoa butter
• 1/2 ounce coffee infused oil
• 1/4 ounce jojoba oil
• 1/4 ounce rosehip seed oil
• 10 drops lavender essential oil
• 3 drops chamomile essential oil
• 5 drops vitamin E oil

Instructions For Coffee Eye Cream:

• Put the shea and cocoa butters in a glass measuring cup with a pour spout and warm in the microwave until both butters are completely melted. 
• Pour in the coffee infused oil, jojoba oil, and rosehip seed oil and stir to combine. 
• Drop the essential oils and vitamin E oil into the mixture and stir to combine. 
• Pour the mixture into your container of choice (should fit in two-ounce container) and let them harden at room temperature. Screw on the lid and store in a cool, dry place.
