10 Motivating Juice and Smoothie Accessories

smoothie-accessories

So you’ve finally bought into the juice and smoothie craze, and you’re ready to make some healthy diet and lifestyle changes. Sometimes you need more than a blender or juicer to make your smoothie lifestyle a little easier. We aren’t saying that you can’t get by with the basic essentials, but you can sometimes be a little more motivated with some exciting smoothie accessories. Make a healthy change with some of the following juice and smoothie accessories!

13 Juice and Smoothie Accessories

1. Smoothie Tumbler

One of the best things about smoothies or juices is that you can take them as an on-the-go breakfast. If you are rushing around the house in the morning and don’t have the time to relax and enjoy your smoothie, a smoothie tumbler will change your life. All you have to do is blend or juice, pour, and head out the door with a stainless steel smoothie tumbler. It keeps your drink cold and it is BPA-free!

2. Glass Straw

Plastic straws contain harmful chemicals, which you can absorb by drinking through them. Think about getting a glass straw (stainless steel straws work as well), which is 100% reusable, and it is better for you and the environment.

3. Citrus Juicer

Investing in a juicer is not cheap, but a citrus juicer is a great kitchen accessory to have. Whether you have lemons, grapefruit, oranges, or limes, you can use a citrus juicer to freshly juice citrus fruits instead of buying sugar-laden, from concentrate juices in the stores. Citrus juice adds a lot of vitamin C to your smoothies and it gives it a distinct flavor!

4. Juice & Smoothie Book

While the Internet is an endless resource for juice and smoothie recipes, sometimes it is nice to buy a good old-fashioned cookbook. This helps you get your proportions right and it is always accessible. It also usually has an index with key ingredients, so you can find a recipe that calls for kiwis or spinach instantaneously!

5. Fruit and Vegetable Cleaner

Because a lot of fruits and vegetables are coated in pesticides or waxes, a simple rinse doesn’t really do the trick. This is why it is more beneficial to buy organic produce. If you don’t want to buy organic, you can purchase a fruit and vegetable wash that is USDA certified organic. A wash like this helps to remove 98% of residue, waxes, or pesticides. holding residue and contaminants than water alone.

6. Clear Liquid Stevia

Smoothies and juices are naturally sweet if you add fruit, but liquid stevia is good to use if you want them a little sweeter. With stevia, a little goes a long way, so don’t go crazy with this stuff. This is great for green juices or smoothies. It is way better than dumping a lot of sugar in your drink. You can also use this to sweeten some herbal teas.

7. A Great Blender

While the VitaMix is the king of kings when it comes to blenders, you don’t have to get one in order to make smoothies. There are tons of blenders, one great one being the NutriBullet, which is a very affordable option that can make a variety of smoothies, sauces, soups, dressings, or other creative ideas that have to do with blending.

8. Superfoods

When you add superfoods to your smoothie mix, you get a whole new world of nutrients. There are tons of superfoods out there, kale, garlic, and spirulina being three of them. There are also tons of clean, plant-based protein powders out there, which can add more sustenance to your smoothies.

9. Vintage Clear Mason Jar

Sometimes it is nice to have one or two cups that are solely designated to smoothies and juices, just in case you don’t wash it thoroughly and decide to put iced tea in there, only to realize that your tea is filled with some smoothie residue. You can purchase glass mason jars that have reusable lids with stainless steel straws. These are also great if you want to send your kids to school with smoothies!

10. Silicone Steel Ice Cube Tray

Freeze your juices and smoothies in ice cube trays for safe storage or for fun presentation. During the week, it is hard to find the time to get ingredients and make a bunch of smoothies. Instead, prepare a huge batch of your favorite smoothies on a Sunday night and fill your ice trays up with them. Using silicone ice cube trays makes popping them out so easy. You can put them out, throw them in the blender, and add some water and you’ll be good to go!

Q: Thanks for all of the information which is very beneficial I must say. My question to you is what's the best type of aloe vera juice to drink? Also I have heard that the gel from the plant can be mixed into a smoothie, is that true? Greetings! As far as the best brand I really wouldn't know as there are a few good brands on the market. Just make sure your aloe vera juice is at 99% pure and with no additives. Aloe gel can be added to a fruit smoothie though

    A:

I personally wouldn't add it to a fruit smoothie.

Q: When looking at the Food Combining Chart I was wondering if smoothies are not a violation of all of the "recommendations." If it is suggested that certain items not be combined, how can smoothies actually be "healthy" to our bodies aside from the absolute nutrition they provide? Although I make them all the time, are we not potentially setting ourselves up for trouble? Just wondering. Thanks in advance for your expertise.

    A:

    Hi! Thanks for the question.

The food combining chart is a suggestion for "optimal" digestion. It suggests we should eat mono meals optimally. This is often impossible and there is no evidence scientifically for this method. I am not sure how it would be studied anyway.

It is considered best to try to adhere to the rules to the best of your ability. However, mixing fruits and veggies as in a green smoothie is absolutely fine. The benefits of the nutrition you receive will out weigh any digestive disturbance that may occur. Feel safe to have green smoothies in your diet and cleanse.

Ideally, to make a smoothie, use a base (some kind of fruit juice, water, or nut milk), add some frozen fruit or non-frozen fruit (your favorite fruit), add a little ice and BLEND (for about 1 minute)! Wa la ... you have a fruit smoothie!

Q: I'm doing the Full Body Cleanse and I have a few questions about it: I get tired of drinking just the distilled water and I'd like to drink the herbal teas, but I don't like it by itself. Would it mess things up to add a pack or two of Splenda to my tea or maybe honey? I can't stand the salads with the olive oil or apple cider vinegar or the lemon juice as dressing and it makes me gag. I have To have some sort of salad dressing. What kind would be suitable? Do I look for sugar-free? Or organic and natural? I found one that is organic and natural, but it has 3 grams of sugar in it. Without eating all my whole grained breads and other fiber, I haven't had much of a bowel movement in 3 days, should I wait a while yet? (I had surgery on my bowels and always had to take fiber tablets and eat lots of grains to get my bowels to move.) I haven't done the enemas yet, (low on money) should I try that? Or should I resume my fiber tablets I normally take? Any type of fiber I could add to my fruit smoothies in the morning? I want to also do the female cleanse. Is it ok to do that immediately after I finish the full body cleanse or should I wait for a little while? Thank you for all your help, I feel much better than I did before and I just started this detox a week ago, lost 10 pounds, too, woohoooooo! Thank you

    A:

    1. Instead of splenda, use agave, stevia, or grade b maple syrup as a sweetener.

    2. In re Salad Dressing, an organic and natural one is great. You can also check our website for salad dressing recipes.

    3. The fiber pills are not part of the cleanse, so we wouldn't advise those. Fruit is you best choice of fiber so look into eating more papaya, mango, figs, etc. And yes, colonics (and enemas) would greatly help you - undoubtedly!

    4. You can do the Female Cleanse right after you finish detoxing. There's no need to wait!

Q: Hello, Is it okay to drink the naked fruit smoothie on the 10 day detox. I read the label and no sugar and additives are in the drink. Thank you

A: Unfortunately you cannot consume any pre-made store juices or smoothies. Those kind of beverages contain preservatives and additives to help sustain shelf life and is also pasteurized (processed foods).

    Q:

A: You can only have the protein powder if its all natural and does not contain any dairy or whey. Hemp seed protein, green pea protein and spirulina are the best types of protein powder allowed on the cleanse.

Q: First off, thank you so much for your responses to my questions regarding my husband heart murmur and weed smoking. Secondly...I am on my third day of the Full Body Detox & it is challenging and invigorating at the same time. My newest question is...how can I make the fruit smoothie that you recommended for drinking in the morning? & can you send my a recipe?

    A:

A few recipes are in the Alternative Diet and Lifestyle Manual.

Use 1 cup of fruit juice (of your liking), 1 cup of frozen fruit (i.e. banana, strawberries, mango, etc.), 1 cup of ice (optional). Blend for about 30 seconds! Drink and enjoy!

Q: If you could only consume one of these juices every day which would it be green juice or wheatgrass juice.

    A:

I'd probably opt for vegetable juice despite the fact that wheat grass is very nutritional.

Q: After being diagnosed with Scleroderma 20 years ago. I began to get pains in my stomach, more like a ball rising up on both sides. This was extremely painful. I have to sit still, until the pain leaves. It feels like I am a pregnant, and the baby is moving. For the past 4 years I've been having fruit smoothies for breakfast. Could having the smoothies, be the reason for whatever is happening inside of my body?

    A:

What type of fruit smoothies are you having? If your smoothies consist of only fruits then no. The fruit smoothies have nothing to do with what's going on inside your body. You might just be in need of a good cleanse. Eat only when you are hungry. Try not to over eat or drink your fruit smoothies, yes they are good for you but only eat what your stomach is asking for. Q:

    A:

Hi! Thanks for the question. The chia shake should be fine as long as the chia is soaked in the drink.

Eating small seeds like chia and flax seeds can go through digestion whole and be wasted. Soaking, sprouting, and grinding before consumption increases the likely hood that the small seeds will get digested and their nutrients utilized properly.

    Hope this helps,

Q: I started my full body detox program yesterday and this morning I stopped into Jamba Juice to get a wheatgrass shot. I also got a pomegranate juice, strawberry, peach and mango drink with a mega green tea boost...I drank maybe about 4 oz of the drink and trashed it. I had the worst headache I've ever experienced in my life! Was it from the sugar in the juice? They claim to be all-natural or was it from the fasting? Would you recommend this establishment for those seeking to get their body clean?

    A:

It's best to stay on raw fruit and vegetable juices during your detox. Or, try some of the recipes for smoothies, vegetable juice, and delicious herbal teas mentioned and listed in the Full Body Detox Companion ($20)

Q: I am in need of cleansing my body and weight removal! (Removal and not loss because I don't want to find it again)! I need to remove about 80 pounds of unhealthy weight from my body and would like to do so in a natural way. I looked at both your Female Cleanse and the Full Body Cleanse, but don't know which is a better option for me to follow right now? I eat a lot of organic foods, I juice (some) but need to increase my water intake (A LOT). I don't drink much soda at all and when I do it is organic carbonated lemonade. I realize carbonated drinks are not good for us and limit how much I drink. My body lets me know when I have eaten something that is not good for me by causing my hands and feet to swell. To reduce this I drink water. I am allergic to wheat and try to stay away from it as much as possible. I have few ailments and have started working out again (cardio and weight training). I also looked at your weight loss products, but thought I should maybe detox first. What do you think? Any assistance you can offer on your products and which ones I should take is of great appreciation.

A: The best thing for you is the Full Body Cleanse. The Full Body Cleanse will allow you to remove unwanted weight, while also optimizing your entier body so that you can maintain that weight and live a healthier lifestyle.

Q: I am interested in starting the Full Body Detox program. At this time, I would like to know which program is best for me. At current, I have started removing things from my diet as of 2 weeks ago (pork, chicken, red meat, I'm trying with the fish but it's hard!) I am not eating cheese but I still eat yogurt and every now and then I will eat a boiled egg (egg whites). I have removed soda from my diet, no coffee, I drink herbal or green tea, pomegranate juice or orange juice and I drink filtered water (I have a countertop filter that I change every 6 months and the Brita pitcher that I change every 2 months). Along with the supplement, is there an eating plan that you can suggest for me? I am eating more fruits and vegetables, but I would welcome suggestions on certain foods that I can eat while I begin my cleansing.

    A:

The Full Body Detox kit comes with a prescribed dietary plan and notifies a person what they can and cannot eat during the detox.

Q: Can I use soy or almond milk for the smoothie:

    A:

Unfortunately you cannot use either milk for a smoothie as you are not allowed to consume any dairy. Soy is not a natural food and most store brought almond milk is pasteurized and contains preservatives that helps maintain shelf life. You can consume almond milk if it's homemade. We do have a raw homemade almond milk recipe available on our website.

Q: I have been drinking nettles tea as well as parsley juice and a tea made of marshmallow, gravel and hydrangea roots to control my potassium levels. I have noticed that my potassium numbers are less controllable now that I do dialysis once or twice a week. I know they give me a “K-bath" and I suspect that it keeps my potassium higher to discourage me from eating fruits and veggies and to make me feel jittery enough to keep going back. Actually the doctor told me not to juice or eat fruits at all. I will be ordering your FULL BODY DETOX this week, However, I want your input on how to control my potassium.

    A:

You control your potassium levels by not worrying about it - eating how God intended you to eat. Beloved, just eat NATURAL food (fruits, vegetables, seed, and nuts) and you'll be all right. P.S. - apples and bananas are good sources of potassium!
