4 Teas That Help To Balance Female Hormones

asian-woman-with-tea

Women require specific herbs to maintain balanced hormone levels. Hormones, which are involved in many interactions in the body, are different chemicals/compounds that are tied to appetite, energy levels, skin health, reproductive health, mood and more. While it is vital to maintain healthy hormone levels, many women regularly experience hormonal imbalances.

What Are Hormones?

Produced by glands in the endocrine system, hormones travel through the bloodstream to various tissues and organs, giving orders of what to do and when to do it. When hormone levels are out of balance, side effects can occur throughout the body. Women typically experience varying levels of estrogen and progesterone, but they can occasionally have a testosterone imbalance. The side effects of imbalanced hormones can include changes in blood pressure, depression, weight gain, skin rashes, bloating, headaches, brittle bones, reduced sex drive, breast tenderness, and more.

Addressing The Problem:

Too often do women seek out methods, which don’t target the root of the problem, to remedy hormonal imbalance. Some of these methods are too aggressive and can actually throw your hormones even more out of whack. The key to addressing the problem is to get to the root cause, and medications like oral contraceptives may just cover up the symptoms. Natural remedies, like the following teas, are great for helping women balance hormones. Try them and let us know how they work for you.

Nettle Leaf:

This herb contains just about every vitamin and mineral that is required for human health and growth. Containing more chlorophyll than any other herb, nettle works to relieve constipation, purify the blood, guard against anemia, and nourish the kidneys for a healthier urinary tract. Research has shown that nettle contains calcium in its most absorbable form, which is necessary for menopausal women. Another reason to consume nettle is that it is abundant in iron, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, and vitamins A, C, D, and K.

Matcha:

Matcha has been praised for the presence of vitamin C, catechins, and EGCG, a powerful antioxidant that has been known to fight cancer cells. Matcha contains ten times more antioxidants than green tea, 17 times more antioxidants than blueberries, and six times more antioxidants than goji berries. When it comes to hormones, matcha works to decrease estrogen levels, and extremely high estrogen levels have been linked to increased risk of breast cancer. The antioxidants also support the liver, which aids with hormone regulation.

Red Clover:

This herb has long since been used to establish fertility. The diverse nutritional profile makes it excellent for the uterus, and the calcium and magnesium work to relax the nervous system for optimal hormone levels. Many women have attributed heightened fertility during childbearing years to red clover, and this has a lot to do with the trace minerals. Studies show that the trace minerals in red clover help to restore and balance hormonal functions by supplying the minerals to various glands in the body. Red clover also helps alkalize the body, establishing a healthy acid/alkaline balance in the vagina and uterus to decrease the risk of infections.

Spearmint:

According to several studies, spearmint has demonstrated an ability to reduce testosterone levels in women, providing relief from hormonal imbalances. Spearmint helps to increase female hormones that are needed for ovulation, including estradiol, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and luteinizing hormone (LH). One study found that women, who drank two cups of spearmint tea for five consecutive days, experienced decreased testosterone and elevated levels of FSH, LH, and estradiol. Another study found that testosterone levels dropped in women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) when they drank two cups of spearmint tea per day over a 30-day period.

Q: Hello, I want to know which herb is better for balancing hormones, maca root or the chaste tree berry? I have a high testosterone level (extreme hirsutism) and low estrogen level. Thank you!

    A:

Both are good but I'd choose Chaste Tree Berry

Q: Red Clover, ingredient of Female Hormonal adds estrogen. The thickening of my uterus lining is due to the fact that I have more estrogen, than progesterone. Will it not make my uterus wall thicker? I just ordered this product. So how will this work if I have too much estrogen already?

    A:

You can never have too much GOOD estrogen, Beloved! All estrogen is not the same. God gave women estrogen, and this estrogen is not a problem, it's the man-made estrogens that are the problem. Now, to balance your hormones by getting more progesterone, start taking 3-6 capsules of Wild Yam Root daily.

Q: I am writing to you because I recently had my blood checked for hormone levels, it turns out I am producing more of some male hormone in large amounts. I think its called the DHAEs, in any case the endocrine specialist says it could be cysts on my ovaries or a tumor in my adrenals that is making my count 163 where a normal woman produces this hormone at a 79 count, of course I am not claiming any tumors, and I asked her to send me back to the lab to "retake" a sample...before I go back, I would like to try regulate the glandular function with your help and see if the results differ.

    A:

HMMM, DHAE OR DE-HYDRO EPI-ANDROSTERONE IT'S CALLED AND IS SOMEWHAT UNIQUE BECAUSE THE HORMONE "ANDROSTERONE" IS UNISEXUAL AND BOTH SEXES OR GENDERS PRODUCE IT BUT IT'S REALLY A FEMALE HORMONE BUT HAS BEEN GIVEN OR ATTRIBUTED TO MALES TO BALANCE WOMEN HAVING 2 HORMONES: PROGESTERONE AND ESTROGEN, AND SO NOW MALES HAVE TESTOSTERONE AND ANDROSTERONE. WELL, CLEARLY A HORMONAL IMBALANCE AND DENOTES A DEFICIENCY WITH THE ENDOCRINE SYSTEM. RARELY, I WOULD AGREE WITH THE ENDOCRINOLOGIST IN THIS CASE BECAUSE DHAE IS PRODUCED IN AND SECRETED BY THE ADRENAL GLANDS. BUT YOU SEE, WHETHER OVARIES OR ADRENALS, YOU ARE DEALING WITH "GLANDS" AND IT STILL POINTS TO THE HORMONAL OR ENDOCRINE SYSTEM SO FOR SURE WE KNOW THE PROBLEM IS HERE WITH THIS BODILY SYSTEM (ENDOCRINE OR HORMONAL). FOR SURE ... I MOST DEFINITELY UNDERSTAND. WITHOUT A DOUBT I AM SUGGESTING THE TOTAL WOMAN CLEANSE AND THE ADRENALIZER FORMULA (REMOVE ONE OF THE FORMULAS FROM THE TOTAL WOMAN CLEANSE THAT YOU FEEL YOU DON'T NEED AND SUPPLEMENT WITH ADRENALIZER FORMULA.)

Q: I am a 64yr. female, breast cancer survivor of 4 years, and have had bilateral knee replacements. I currently take Arimidex, a hormone blocker-my cancer was hormone fed- and prilosec for acid reflux. I have been diagnosed with an irregular heart beat with the lower left chamber of the heart not relaxing enough to fill with needed blood supply to pump blood to my entire body. I was put on Atenolol to reduce my blood pressure but was allergic to it. A new prescription (Lopressor) has been recommended. I do not want to continue to add medicines with all of the side effects. What regimen would your recommend to address all of my concerns? I am completing your FULL BODY DETOX program.

    A:

I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU PERFORM THE FULL BODY DETOX FIRST AND FOREMOST.

Q: Thank you for the cancer info...It is welcome and beyond informative, however, I take issue with your remark that "women would be wise to just accept the fact that they are female by nature and God made them to have (deliver) babies and they should stop trying to compete with and be like men." Part of me is not surprised--men make comments like this all the time. I chalk it up to ignorance, as men enjoy living their entire lives not having to endure periods, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and lord knows what else. So because a woman does not want to have children--at all, or at a particular time in her life--she wants to be a man?! That's an illogical conclusion you are making. So why are there pregnant women with cancer, some of which who have never taken BC pills? Are women entitled to making any sort of control over their reproductive health? What about women who are infertile, naturally? If they develop cancer, is it because they never gave birth to a child? Are you willing to support all of the children that will result from women not being on Birth Control, since many people cannot afford several children on their incomes? This line of reasoning makes some women think that men really need to get over themselves. I think you have been reading too much Freud. Some women, present company included, appreciate our femininity and everything that encompasses being a woman. At the same time, this is not the dark ages--and even then, women chose not to have children during different times in their lives. Surely you are aware that in non-Western countries women utilize natural herbs to control their reproduction or as abortifacients? I am not advocating abortion; my point is that if you are going to criticize women taking BC pills, you may as well extend this criticism to women naturally preventing pregnancy via alternative means.

    A:

Birth control pills play a big role in female reproductive cancers. Women would be wise to just accept the fact that they are female by nature and God made them to have (deliver) babies and they should stop trying to compete with and be like men. In attempting to stop or prevent life (birth control), they are ending up losing their very own lives. And the birth control pills cause cancer in areas of the body that denote femininity (breasts, ovaries, fallopian tubes, cervix, uterus and vagina). This is a form of language here. You have disease and female organ(s) which basically means your disease is specifically related to an issue of femaleness or femininity, that's why the disease manifests in these "female" organs. In attempting to be like and compete with males, females compromise their feminine integrity and goddess nature which "eats them up" (anger, frustration, sadness, etc.) inside. When the cancer appears in any female organ, it serves as a sign or sensor that the problem lies on a deeper metaphysical level pertaining to emotions, thoughts and attitude."

Q: I recently ordered the Female Package as well as the Fibroid buster. While I trust your company and its products, I realize that everyone is different and I feel the need to address an issue. I have been doing some research that gave me warnings against red clover, stating that it is an herb that can actually stimulate estrogen receptor positive breast cancer cells to grow. While I have no reason to believe that I have positive BC cells in my body, I would like to take every possible precaution to assure I am doing the right things. I have taken every measure to eliminate pharmaceutical, and xenoestrogens from my life in an attempt to rebalance my hormones naturally. I have been diagnosed with uterine fibroids as well as estrogen dominance so this issue is definitely a concern for me. I have listed the link below with the source of this information. I would love to hear your thoughts on this matter.

    A:

Continue to don't believe the hype! Herbs are benevolent foods and help you, not hurt you. Red Clover is the best herb available as the most natural source of beneficial bio-organic and available female estrogen hormone -- THE BEST! Therefore, I highly recommend Red Clover for females for every female complaint and/or to maintain female health. This herb is noble. In re fibroid tumors, we are introducing our NEW 3-Wekk Fibroid Buster Kit and Regimen to expedite the healing process of uterine-ovarian-cervical tumors and cysts. I highly recommend this kit. However, right now I would recommend the Fibroid Buster formula and Moon Cycle formula in addition to the female health tea. Your estrogen dominance is due to UN-NATURAL hormone, not natural hormone -- so needed to worry about natural sources of hormone (from herbs). Stay positive, believe in the best (especially for yourself), stay focused (on your healing), keep a positive attitude about your state of being (attitude about self), and live righteously and success in all ways is yours. There is help for you, Beloved! Read some of our health articles pertaining to female reproductive health issues. You'll find them interesting! Thank you for your interest in Dherbs.Com

She does not eat foods with potassium and her levels are still high.

    A:

YES, IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO DRINK WATER WITH VITAMINS ADDED TO THEM. THE BEST FORM OF VITAMINS AND MINERALS IS KHEMETIAN GOLD. THIS FORMULA WILL ALSO ADDRESS HER POTASSIUM IMBALANCE AS WELL.

Q: I am returning this product to you for my refund. I liked what you said in the article about fibroids. I wanted more information such as success stories or testimonials. You said I should just go with the flow and order the product. That it didn't matter what other women had experienced. After getting the product on Wed, I checked the ingredients on the internet. It seems that one herbal website strongly advises women with fibroids not to take Dong Quai. Also Julia Chang on her website - www.sensiblehealth.com says that it is one of the herbs I should not take. That Chinese doctors do not understand female hormones, etc. I have bought a lot of stuff on the internet with my credit card, this is the first time I am returning something. Oh well, back to the basics. I will read over your Full Body Cleanse. Thanks!

    A:

As long as the bottle is unopened you are entitled to a refund.

However, none of the herbs we use will have you experiencing any negative side effects. Dong Quai and other herbs only provide beneficial results.

Q: I need some advice on whether I am taking the right herbs to balance my hormones. I have a mustache and a lot of hair on my face and acne. So I take saw palmetto for that. Also, I had an ovary removed about 2 years ago. Since then I have a problem with vaginal dryness and very low sex drive. I am always moody and irritated by everything. I am currently taking saw palmetto, vitex chaste berry, dong quai, and wild yam root, all in the form of a capsule. Please tell me if this combination is good for me.

    A:

THE COMBINATION IS GOOD, BUT YOU HAVE A HORMONAL IMBALANCE AND SHOULD CONCENTRATE ON YOUR ENDOCRINE SYSTEM. LOOK INTO OUR TOTAL WOMAN CLEANSE. YOU ARE PRODUCING MORE MALE-BASED HORMONES THAN FEMALE-BASED HORMONES. READ OUR ARTICLE â€FEMALE HORMONAL REPLACEMENT THERAPYâ€

Q: I would like to know if that was you on the Al Sharpton show, Monday morning. The show is called “keeping it realâ€. My second question is, do you have any products that would help melasma. So many black women and men suffer with this [facial] hyperpigmentation. The only product that I know that really helps is hydroquinone that many women use today to lighten [bleach] their skin tones. I do not want to use it for that purpose; I have a beautiful skin tone. I just need to lighten the pigmentation that has changed my complexion. The darken colorations make me look older than what I am. I see a lot us blacks with this problem. It is unfortunate that the only product that seems to alleviate the problem is not safe. By the way, I do use sunscreen, only on my face; I allow the rest of my skin to get some sun for its great vitamin D benefits. Thanks

    A:

Work on cleansing your blood, as the skin manifests the condition of the blood. Try our Blood & Lymphatic Formula.

Q: I have been reading a lot lately on HCG levels and people who have acquired HCG injections to lose weight at a fast rate of speed. Ultimately, if I understand correctly, HCG is a fertility booster. Would the fertility kit your company produces have the same effect, and actually raise the HCG levels of a person's chemistry? I would much prefer to treat my body 100% organically/herbally. I have highly mixed emotions about allowing "doctors" to inject something into my body, if there is an alternative.

    A:

Our Fertility Kit is 100% organic (natural) and does not only work on one level (i.e. HCG), but all hormonal levels in addition to balancing, strengthening, and toning the hormonal system. All hormones are raised to their necessary level with our fertility kit and regimen.

It is unnatural to inject anything into the human body. It's a disrespect to the body which is perfectly qualified to do what it was designed to do if you just give the body what it needs.

Follow your emotions (or gut instinct) about doctors and injection. Dherbs offers a safe and sane alternative. Give it a try! GO NATURAL!

Take the Female Health tea along with the kit to enhance its effect and the chances of conception.

Q: I was on the computer, I came across the article on the big ole butt. In the article you said (paraphrase) that successful women tend to be sick. Are you saying that these women should not try to be successful? in my opinion if black women are overweight, they cannot blame the corporate lifestyle, they have to blame themselves. We are all in control of our own lifestyle, those same corporate black women, if they were working 9-5 at some factory somewhere, they would still be fat. I do agree with you when you stated that many black women lack will power to fast. I think that we lack will power to do anything that is beneficial to us. Yes I do agree with you that the steatopygia female does look like a "pig". their faces tend to take on pig like facial features. Yes you are right that miss steatopygia tends to wear tight pants, (in my opinion that type of backside is stinky looking). So yes there is some parts of the article I do agree with. Far too many of us black women, tend to be stubborn and too defensive. I am glad that your site does exist, because far too many sites like to blame "whitey". You are one of the few black health specialists, that put the blame on us, and you should because our lifestyle is our responsibility.

    A:

No, these women should BECOME successful, but not lose their health and/or souls in the process of becoming successful. The corporate sector has played a great "role" in Black women gaining weight because the jobs are too sedentary and they have access to too much sugary junk which converts to fat because corporate jobs don't allow them to burn off the fat. I've seen this firsthand with many once fine sisters who blew up like houses within a 5 year period. Corporate America was the venue in which Black women CHOSE to let their health go by the wayside, at least the majority of them. Thank you for sharing your views and sentiments on this Dear Sista! Much obliged!
