4 Things You Didn’t Know Papayas Were Good For

girl-with-papaya-halves

Rich in valuable nutrients, the papaya is an amazing fruit with strong antioxidant properties. The papaya is a tropical fruit that works to reduce inflammation, keep your skin looking healthy, and it helps to naturally fight back against heart disease. Consuming papaya can be beneficial if you need help improving digestion or strengthening the immune system.

What Are Papayas?

The papaya is a tropical fruit, which is found in most grocery stores throughout the year. Hawaiian papayas are smaller and yellow, while Mexican papayas are larger and a rich orange color. The flesh of the papaya is orange and buttery. Small black seeds are in the center of the fruit and while they are edible in moderation, they often get discarded. The fruit, the seeds, and parts of the tree all contain an enzyme that helps the body digest proteins.

Papain Is What You Need:

Green papayas are traditionally used in Thai cuisine to make green papaya salad. The unripe fruit and leaves from the tree contain papain, which has been used as a meat tenderizer for years, helps the body digest meat. We aren’t encouraging meat consumption; we are just saying that papayas help to digest meat.

Free Radicals Beware:

The powerful antioxidants in papayas help to banish free radicals from the body. Free radicals are created during the body’s metabolism and are needed for destroying bad bacteria. If you have too many of these in your system, your body is more prone to oxidative stress and disease. Adding papaya to your diet has been proven to not only lower oxidative stress, but also decrease the risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

Reduces Macular Degeneration:

This disease of the eye causes cells to degenerate and ultimately results in blurred vision and blindness, in more serious cases. If you have macular degeneration, start adding papaya to your diet because it contains beta-carotene, which helps to boost eye health. According to a recent study, consuming three or more servings of papaya every day helps to decrease the risk of macular degeneration.

Relieves Constipation:

Among the many great things about papaya, it can also help to relieve constipation and reduce motion sickness, primarily due to the folate and vitamins C & E. Fresh papaya juice contains lots of fiber, which helps to increase bowel movements and ease the passage of stool through the digestive tract.

Side Effects Of Papaya:

The papaya is safe to consume, but there are some things to know in regards to the fruit. Papaya is considered a “hot” fruit and can be harmful during pregnancy. Raw and semi-ripe papayas contain latex, which can cause uterine contractions, which may lead to abortions in serious cases. It can also have a laxative effect if eaten too much. Try not to eat too many servings of papaya to keep your intestines and stomach happy.

Papaya is a versatile fruit and is best eaten when it is cold. You can add it to smoothies, juices, or blend it to make it a healthy dessert. Let us know how you like to eat papaya in the comments below.

Q: I recently purchased the YONI FORMULA in hopes to jump-start my treatment since I could not afford the FULL BODY DETOX or TOTAL WOMAN CLEANSE. My mom did the FULL BODY DETOX and looks and feels great! Unfortunately I am not in the financial position to buy that yet but I do have vaginal discharge and it makes me so very uncomfortable. I've been tested for STD's and have a clean bill. My doctor continues to treat me for vaginosis or bacteria infection. I now only take showers and began to use the dherbs papaya soap. So far I've been taking the Yoni for 1 week. Will this help with my problem?

    A:

The YONI FORMULA will help but modified diet will also help. Cut out eating meat, dairy products, refined grains, refined starches, etc. Drink plenty of vegetable juice; eat raw fruits, salads, etc. Eat healthy!

Q: Fresh fruit is mentioned in the full body cleanse literature, but I didn't see anything about frozen fruit. Can I use frozen fruit during the fbc?

A: We don't recommend consuming foods that are frozen or canned. Consuming fresh foods is always best as you're only consuming foods that are alive and provide your body with a benefit.  There's no way of knowing the quality or state of the foods before its frozen or canned.

Q: I eat a lot of fruits and, veggies, I don't consume a lot of meat but I'm concern about the raw veggies and fruit lately because I read and article how washing your fruit and veggies isn't helping to clean fecee and other environmental mishaps that plaque out food so what do you recommend is there a organic wash or what?

    A:

YES! VEGETABLE & FRUIT WASHES are sold at good health food stores such as Whole Foods Market.

Q: Is necessary to continue food combining after completing FULL BODY DETOX in 20 Days? For example can you consume sweet fruit with sub acid & acid fruit also starches and vegetable (beans) proteins together? I learned in Nutrition that starches (rice) and beans are complete protein when combined together that our body needs. Are you at risk for protein deficiency if consuming vegan diet?

    A:

IT'S YOUR CHOICE! OF COURSE IT'S BEST TO CONTINUE TO DO SO. IT'S UP TO YOU, BELOVED! I PERSONALLY DON'T RECOMMEND IT. NOT TRUE! YOU CAN'T GET PROTEIN FROM COOKED FOODS REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE FOOD IS. OF COURSE NOT, UNLESS YOU ARE IGNORANT TO PROTEIN, REAL PROTEIN, HOW AND WHERE TO GET IT.

Q: I am on my 3rd day of the fully body cleansing. I am definitely doing this to lose weight. I am a 52 year old, black, Christian, wife, mother to 21 and 14 year old girls, legal secretary who is 450 lbs. I am to the point now where if I don't do this I'm going to be housebound. I can barely move some days that is why I started this because I feel so unhealthy. I have a question about the nuts. I got all gun-ho and ordered $135.00 worth of organic nuts from nuts.com. I got raisins, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, walnuts, pecans, pistachios and cashews and mixed them all up together (well I purchased 2 lbs of each but I only mixed up 1 lb of each together). Anyway, I was reading about how much calories are in nuts. Should I not pay attention to that because I was consuming a lot of calories in the first place or do I have to watch how many nuts I eat? I have put some nuts in a sandwich bags and basically filled it up and that is supposed to be my nuts ration for the day. I am also eating fruits and vegetables. So far the fruit have been grapes, grapefruit, red apples, pears, green apples and bananas. The vegetables have all been in a salad: tomatoes, celery spinach leaves, carrots, mixed in balsamic vinaigrette. I only ate the salad Monday night all the other times I have just eaten the fruit and nuts. I am also consuming approximately 75-100 oz of water. Sorry I’m long winded I just wanted you to get the entire picture.

    A:

Thanks for the question, I can definitely help you.

Nuts are best kept to a minimum if you use them at all. Nuts are extremely high in fat and have the opposite omega 3- omega 6 ratio that is optimal for health. Seeds are best as far as ratios are concerned. Also nuts are truly easy to over eat and cause your nutrient ratios to be off.

A healthy vegan diet is a high raw fruitarian diet.

    Example:

Breakfast: green smoothie. (500-1000 calories of fruits blended with a handful of greens and water)

Bridge: Dates and strawberries (500 calories)

Lunch: Salad with low sugar fruits (cucumber, tomato, squash, bell peppers) topped with fruit, beans, psuedo grains,

    Bridge: 2-3 apples

Dinner: Raw wraps (collard greens) with low sugar fruit and tahini

    Snack: Sorbet

Q: Can you combine Vegetables (green leafy) with Vegetables (fruit-vegetables)? Are fruit-veggies considered fruit or veggie?

    A:

Green leafy veggies may be combined with fruit-veggies (cucumbers and tomotoes). Fruit-veggies are really fruit. You can always tell because of the seeds. Technically, anything that contains seeds is a fruit!

Q: I have progressive FSGS (renal disease) my creatine is currently 3.03 and I am spilling approx 630 mil of protein in a 24 hr period. I was diagnosed with this disease at the age of 12. I have truly blessed to not be in dialysis all this time, but I do not want to live with this disease I want to be delivered from it. The Lord already revealed to me in a vision that I would be free from it once I eliminate meat from my diet. Please help me to rid my body of the "need" it feels for meat so that I can be cured. I know a detox can do it; I just need to know which one.

Q: Today makes day 9 of my FULL BODY DETOX (FBD). This morning I have an outbreak on my hand. I have been practicing telling myself I am Healing, but my job is stressful and yesterday I had a stressful day and this morning the outbreak on my right hand. Could this be part of my healing process? Can you suggest what I can do to alleviate the stress at work so this will not block my healing process of herpes? I am following the diet; however I have been kind of burnt out at times on the salads so I at least eat a salad and a bowl of steamed brown rice and frozen green peas that are steamed for 3 min. Is that considered following the diet? I still eat my fruit for breakfast daily, my salad for lunch and steamed broccoli (5min) and for dinner another salad, but for a few days I have eaten the rice and steam green peas. I basically want to know is it alright so if I eat it in the future.

    A:

You have to learn to deal with your stress and stop reacting to it. Your subconscious mind is greatly blocked and therefore you have to realize your healing will come very slow. At a deep level you still believe herpes is incurable and your body is giving you this (despite the healing crisis of outbreaks on the hand). Your dietary deviation is understandable and not that bad but if you are tiring of salads opt for other things to eat. We list a few raw foods alternative recipes in our "ALTERNATIVE DIET AND LIFESTYLES MANUAL" e-book available for download. Check it out!

Q: I have ordered the detox cleanse, and the weight cleanse. Both state to eat a raw diet of veggies and fruit, nuts, nut pastes??, legume sprouts, seeds, plant oils, sea veggies??,and fresh juices. It mentions Vegan Diet. What are my options when it comes to these choices? What do I eat and how often to keep my sugar from dropping, and feeling sick? Usually mid am, and mid afternoon?

Q: I have read about your detox system on your site and others. Here is the product that I am thinking about purchasing: Full Body Detox I have some questions... 1) Is there a diet plan or eating plan that comes with this order? and 2) I have 100 pounds to lose and am thinking about going on the Medifast plan. That is a high (vegetable) protein diet with no fruit and not a lot of vegetables allowed. Would these supplements in the detox plan help my organs that might be taxed a bit on this diet with very little vegetables and no fruit? I am skeptical about #2...I think raw fruits and vegetables are so important inour diets, yet, I do need to drop weight fast. I look forward to any thoughts that you might have.

    A:

Yes, the Full Body Cleanse comes with a dietary regimen prescribing an all-raw foods diet (fruits, vegetables, raw nuts and seeds). This means no meat, dairy, grains, or processed foods.

Q: I'm doing the Full Body Cleanse and I have a few questions about it: I get tired of drinking just the distilled water and I'd like to drink the herbal teas, but I don't like it by itself. Would it mess things up to add a pack or two of Splenda to my tea or maybe honey? I can't stand the salads with the olive oil or apple cider vinegar or the lemon juice as dressing and it makes me gag. I have To have some sort of salad dressing. What kind would be suitable? Do I look for sugar-free? Or organic and natural? I found one that is organic and natural, but it has 3 grams of sugar in it. Without eating all my whole grained breads and other fiber, I haven't had much of a bowel movement in 3 days, should I wait a while yet? (I had surgery on my bowels and always had to take fiber tablets and eat lots of grains to get my bowels to move.) I haven't done the enemas yet, (low on money) should I try that? Or should I resume my fiber tablets I normally take? Any type of fiber I could add to my fruit smoothies in the morning? I want to also do the female cleanse. Is it ok to do that immediately after I finish the full body cleanse or should I wait for a little while? Thank you for all your help, I feel much better than I did before and I just started this detox a week ago, lost 10 pounds, too, woohoooooo! Thank you

    A:

    1. Instead of splenda, use agave, stevia, or grade b maple syrup as a sweetener.

    2. In re Salad Dressing, an organic and natural one is great. You can also check our website for salad dressing recipes.

    3. The fiber pills are not part of the cleanse, so we wouldn't advise those. Fruit is you best choice of fiber so look into eating more papaya, mango, figs, etc. And yes, colonics (and enemas) would greatly help you - undoubtedly!

    4. You can do the Female Cleanse right after you finish detoxing. There's no need to wait!

Q: Is it okay for a person with diabetes to have a fruit smoothie in the mornings during the full body detox?

    A:

YES!!!! Just watch your sugar because most diabetics have sugar problems due to bad sugar mixed with good sugar (from fruit -- fructose).

Q: Will the unlimited fruit cause my blood sugar to raise while on the FULL BODY DETOX?

    A:

I humbly and respectfully submit: How could I specifically know that? How could I know what YOUR body will do? Do you understand where I'm coming from? The best way to discover anything is to do it - experience it for yourself. Your question is very legitimate, but again, how could anyone know in advance what your body will do while cleansing?

Q: I have been experiencing diabetes for 14 years, using insulin twice daily along with another diabetes control pill (januvia). This has all been to no avail as I continue to suffer from the disease along with hypertension. As someone who has practiced spiritual principles for many, many years, I feel that I am pretty much in tune with my True Spirit. However, I realize that my eating habits and the use of medications are aiding in the continuance of the seeming illness. I would love to try your product but I have for many years suffered from a lost of control of appetite. The only program that has ever really helped to decrease my appetite was Atkins diet, which is near impossible to stay with. I lost weight and the sugars decreased. However, I was not able to continue eating only meats and virtually no fruit or veggies and therefore gained all the weight back. I even has a lap band inserted, which did nothing for the decrease of my appetite and I consequently found foods to eat which would go through the band. Please help!!

    A:

Your situation is psychological and emotional in nature. Our Pancreas kit will greatly assist you (physically) in healing from diabetes. Please read our "Diabetes" article to better understand this insidious disease. You have work to do within, Beloved!

Q: I began the ANTI-VIRAL CLEANSE AND REGIMEN approximately a week ago, it has been hard to maintain the fruit and vegan diet, but today I took the blood pills & then ate a grape fruit but after a 30 minutes or less I became sick. Is grapefruit a good morning food? Basically, why did it not stay down?

    A:

I WOULD ABSTAIN FROM EATING GRAPEFRUIT. THE GRAPEFRUIT IS ACIDIC (THOUGH ALKALINE) BUT IT WAS NOT A GOOD MIX CONSIDERING THE INGREDIENTS OF THE BLOOD FORMULA. EAT VEGETABLES INSTEAD BEFORE TAKING THE BLOOD FORMULA.

Q: After being diagnosed with Scleroderma 20 years ago. I began to get pains in my stomach, more like a ball rising up on both sides. This was extremely painful. I have to sit still, until the pain leaves. It feels like I am a pregnant, and the baby is moving. For the past 4 years I've been having fruit smoothies for breakfast. Could having the smoothies, be the reason for whatever is happening inside of my body?

    A:

What type of fruit smoothies are you having? If your smoothies consist of only fruits then no. The fruit smoothies have nothing to do with what's going on inside your body. You might just be in need of a good cleanse. Eat only when you are hungry. Try not to over eat or drink your fruit smoothies, yes they are good for you but only eat what your stomach is asking for. Q: I have come across several sites that list quinoa as being in the fruit family but this is very confusing to me since it appears to be a grain. My husband uses it as rice and cereal substitute and I am just wondering if it is mucus forming.

    A:

TECHNICALLY QUINOA IS A FRUIT BECAUSE YOU ARE CONSUMING THE SEEDS, BUT IT IS CONSIDERED A GRAIN. IT IS ALKALINE AND NOT MUCUS FORMING.

Q: Hello I am trying to get on a raw food diet I need to know what is the best vegetables or fruit I can blend for high cholesterol.

A: Hi, thanks for the question, All fruits and vegetables lower cholesterol with the exception of coconut oil. Two foods although not raw which in studies were shown to reduce cholesterol 20 points in a week were a cup of beans and a cup of oatmeal. Following a high carb version (fruit based) of the raw diet is the fastest way to lower overall cholesterol and regain homeostasis. A high fat gourmet raw will do little in lowering your overall cholesterol numbers as well as not help you regain lost health, Gary Gibson HHC CPT BMI VLCE www.theveganeffect.com
