5 Berry Delicious Recipes For National Strawberry Day

boy-holding-strawberries

Rich in powerful antioxidants that work to fight free radicals, strawberries are one of the most popular berries in existence. Their seeds are on the exterior, not the interior of the fruit. You can freeze, dehydrate, preserve, bake, puree, juice, or leave them be and eat them fresh. However you prepare them, you really can’t go wrong!

Strawberry Fact: Strawberries were actually a gift from Chile and were brought to North America in the 1750s.

Flourishing in Mediterranean climates, strawberries are popular all over the world. They contain lots of polyphenols, folate, potassium, manganese, magnesium, and a little dietary fiber. They work to boost eye health, strengthen the immune system, and boost brain function.

To help you celebrate National Strawberry Day this year, we are giving you some of our favorite strawberry recipes. Make one or several of them and let us know how they turned out in the comments below.

Q: What's the best way to start on a vegan/raw food diet? I am not sure what to eat to make sure I would get a nutritious diet-you may not be able to go into that much detail but how can I get sample meal plans for breakfast, lunch and dinner incorporating this type of diet-perhaps there is somewhere on the web I find something like this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    A:

If I do say myself, the best way to start a raw food diet is to be coached by me. I run a 6 month health coaching program that is 60-90 percent raw and 100 percent vegan/gluten free/ allergy free. You can find out more about my program at www.theveganeffect.com. I am running a special of half off my program if you sign up before march 1st.

Here are some other tips to get started.

1: Join a raw food meetup group or community. Surround yourself with supportive people who can point you in the right direction. Try meetup.org or 30bananasaday.com

2: Read books like "beauty detox solution" by snyder, "80/10/10" by Dr. Graham., or "The Paradigm diet" by Adam Dave

3: Start simple with breakfast. Always start your day with a green smoothie. read "Green smoothie revolution" by forget authors name at the moment. heh.

A sample meal plan would be.

    Breakfast: Green smoothie

Bridge: raw bar, handful of nuts or seeds, or fruit

Lunch: Raw wraps made from collard greens. use a base of tahini, hummus, or nut butter. Fill with sprouts and colorful veggies

Bridge: raw bar, handful nuts or seeds, or fruit

Dinner: Raw pasta with a large salad

    Snack: Sorbet

Q: I started my full body detox program yesterday and this morning I stopped into Jamba Juice to get a wheatgrass shot. I also got a pomegranate juice, strawberry, peach and mango drink with a mega green tea boost...I drank maybe about 4 oz of the drink and trashed it. I had the worst headache I've ever experienced in my life! Was it from the sugar in the juice? They claim to be all-natural or was it from the fasting? Would you recommend this establishment for those seeking to get their body clean?

    A:

It's best to stay on raw fruit and vegetable juices during your detox. Or, try some of the recipes for smoothies, vegetable juice, and delicious herbal teas mentioned and listed in the Full Body Detox Companion ($20)

Q: I'm preparing to make the hemp seed infant milk recipe. Would I need to add Moringa Seed and/or Iodine Phosphate to your recipies? Also, could I freeze this Hemp seed milk and use later?

    A:

Yes, add Moringa and Iodine Phosphate to it (for nutritional purposes). And yes, you could freeze it the milk and use later, though fresh is always best.

Q: First off, thank you so much for your responses to my questions regarding my husband heart murmur and weed smoking. Secondly...I am on my third day of the Full Body Detox & it is challenging and invigorating at the same time. My newest question is...how can I make the fruit smoothie that you recommended for drinking in the morning? & can you send my a recipe?

    A:

A few recipes are in the Alternative Diet and Lifestyle Manual.

Use 1 cup of fruit juice (of your liking), 1 cup of frozen fruit (i.e. banana, strawberries, mango, etc.), 1 cup of ice (optional). Blend for about 30 seconds! Drink and enjoy!

Q: I have the alternative diet and lifestyle manual and want to make sure that this applies to the respiratory condition as well. Can I have the rice bread with no gluten or wheat? or rice pasta being that I have sarcoid? Can I eat cold water fish or venison in small portions along with veggies? What about rice or soy milk or protein whey shake for breakfast once or twice a week? Thank you once again my breathing has improved greatly and I have ordered many more supplies to maintain what I have accomplished thus far due to your regimen. I am not a vegetarian so I want to make sure it is okay to have white meats. I will do whatever I have to do to live. I love and appreciate everything you have done to change and help me to heal myself.

    A:

The manual applies when you are FINISHED with a cleanse or kit. Follow the regimen's diet. It clearly states NO COOKED FOOD. You are asking us about cooked food here. Stick to the diet plan and you will be alright! You are asking about foods no good for your condition. Whey is crap. Meat is no good. Grains are no good for you as well. They all produce too much mucus!

Q: Hi, I am trying to find out if I can eat the following items while on my cleanse: - Oatmeal (breakfast) - egg whites - smoothies (can I use Smoothie King or Panet Smoothie or I have to make my own)

    A:

The literature clearly states ONLY RAW FOODS (please see the article "WHAT IS RAW FOODS" in our articles section). You can make your own smoothies or purchase them. Your choice!

Q: Thanks for all of the information which is very beneficial I must say. My question to you is what's the best type of aloe vera juice to drink? Also I have heard that the gel from the plant can be mixed into a smoothie, is that true? Greetings! As far as the best brand I really wouldn't know as there are a few good brands on the market. Just make sure your aloe vera juice is at 99% pure and with no additives. Aloe gel can be added to a fruit smoothie though

    A:

I personally wouldn't add it to a fruit smoothie.

Q: I just started the Full Body Cleanse today! I reviewed the recipe section for ideas but I'm either allergic to the fruit or don't care for the vegetable. Based upon the Full Cleanse process, are there any other food combination or recipes I can do? I made the veggie shake but it was 'spicy' not sure why? Is there anything else I can add? I appreciate any guidance you can provide.

    A:

Could you explain a little further? What do you mean by allergic to the fruit? Do you have certain fruit allergies or getting a reaction to the fruit?

Changes in your body are going to occur. Know that your body builds up a culture of bacteria designed to digest your current diet. Your taste buds may have been hijacked by high fat, high sugar, high salt, chemically processed foods. It will take 3 days or more to begin the chance in culture. You will find as your body cleanses your taste buds will be significantly different.

Q: I have ordered the detox cleanse, and the weight cleanse. Both state to eat a raw diet of veggies and fruit, nuts, nut pastes??, legume sprouts, seeds, plant oils, sea veggies??,and fresh juices. It mentions Vegan Diet. What are my options when it comes to these choices? What do I eat and how often to keep my sugar from dropping, and feeling sick? Usually mid am, and mid afternoon?

    A:

The best way to balance blood sugar and keep your body in a fat burning zone is to eat low fat and every 3-4 hours. Also high raw and high carb. Here are some options. Just a general outline.

Q: Hello, I'm on day 3 of the FBC and I'm having a really hard time with sweets. It's even more trying because I work in a bakery which I cannot avoid because it is a family owned business and I, myself do a lot of the baking. What do you recommend to help seize my sweet craving besides fruit? Because it seems that I can eat fruit for substitution but after a while I still want to eat cake lol. Also, what brand alkaline water do you recommend? Is it best to drink the bottled water or make it? Thanking you in advance. D.Bolden

A: After a few days, your cravings will subside. If you feel like you need additional help with sugar cravings you can also try the Sugar Control. There are raw food desserts available in health stores like Whole Foods, raw food restaurants or raw desserts you can make. It would be best to purchase the alkaline water. Essentia, Nestle, Voss and Neo Water are some of the popular brands of alkaline water. Sugar Control - http://www.dherbs.com/store/sugar-Formula-p-63.html

Q: I WANTED TO KNOW HOW DO YOU MAKE A SMOOTHIE ON full body cleanse? And can you not mix any of the food combined if it says not to?

    A:

You can check our website for numerous great smoothie recipes.

Ideally, to make a smoothie, use a base (some kind of fruit juice, water, or nut milk), add some frozen fruit or non-frozen fruit (your favorite fruit), add a little ice and BLEND (for about 1 minute)! Wa la ... you have a fruit smoothie!

Q: I have read about your detox system on your site and others. Here is the product that I am thinking about purchasing: Full Body Detox I have some questions... 1) Is there a diet plan or eating plan that comes with this order? and 2) I have 100 pounds to lose and am thinking about going on the Medifast plan. That is a high (vegetable) protein diet with no fruit and not a lot of vegetables allowed. Would these supplements in the detox plan help my organs that might be taxed a bit on this diet with very little vegetables and no fruit? I am skeptical about #2...I think raw fruits and vegetables are so important inour diets, yet, I do need to drop weight fast. I look forward to any thoughts that you might have.

    A:

Yes, the Full Body Cleanse comes with a dietary regimen prescribing an all-raw foods diet (fruits, vegetables, raw nuts and seeds). This means no meat, dairy, grains, or processed foods.

Q: Today makes day 9 of my FULL BODY DETOX (FBD). This morning I have an outbreak on my hand. I have been practicing telling myself I am Healing, but my job is stressful and yesterday I had a stressful day and this morning the outbreak on my right hand. Could this be part of my healing process? Can you suggest what I can do to alleviate the stress at work so this will not block my healing process of herpes? I am following the diet; however I have been kind of burnt out at times on the salads so I at least eat a salad and a bowl of steamed brown rice and frozen green peas that are steamed for 3 min. Is that considered following the diet? I still eat my fruit for breakfast daily, my salad for lunch and steamed broccoli (5min) and for dinner another salad, but for a few days I have eaten the rice and steam green peas. I basically want to know is it alright so if I eat it in the future.

    A:

You have to learn to deal with your stress and stop reacting to it. Your subconscious mind is greatly blocked and therefore you have to realize your healing will come very slow. At a deep level you still believe herpes is incurable and your body is giving you this (despite the healing crisis of outbreaks on the hand). Your dietary deviation is understandable and not that bad but if you are tiring of salads opt for other things to eat. We list a few raw foods alternative recipes in our "ALTERNATIVE DIET AND LIFESTYLES MANUAL" e-book available for download. Check it out!

Q: I've been taking classes on how to be more responsible for myself naturally because, my Naturopath became a burden to my pocket. I have no insurance, and I don't make a great deal of money as a massage therapist. Visits were at least every six weeks. He did more talking (irrelavant to my case) than evaluating. The supplements I could find (same brand) for at least 1/2 the price elsewhere, but was left to trusting him for my first supply. I wasn't even sure why I was taking some of them. I've been reading as many of your articles as I can, in order to get a clue about what's best for me. YOUR GREAT! But there are times when I feel I need expert advice on how my body feels. Though I felt taken advantage of by my Naturopath. Can you give me an idea on how to ID a good one on this side of the world? What would be a typical intake? Price?

    A:

Hmmm! Intake, Price? That's going to vary! The best way to determine anything is based upon your intuition (energy). A good ND listens to you! Their price is pretty economical, or they will work with you to help you out financially. They don't push their products on you, they just inform you on what you need. They let you know you have free will and choice! A good ND will allow you to ask questions and give you answers that suffice your questions.
