5 Best Fruits For Diabetics On American Diabetes Association Alert Day

diabetes-fruit

Roughly 9.3% of the American population (that’s upwards of 29 million people) is living with diabetes. Nine out of ten people most at risk of type 2 diabetes don’t know they are at risk. These numbers will continue to climb if lifestyle changes aren’t made because despite what people may think, genetics are not the cause of diabetes.

While type 1 and type 2 diabetes have different causes, two factors are contingent. If you have a family history of either one, you are more prone to developing the disease. Things in your environment (i.e. diet, pollution, lack of exercise, preservatives, pesticides, GMOs, etc.) trigger the disease because genes alone are not enough. Early diet and lifestyle choices typically play huge roles in the development of both types 1 & 2 diabetes.

March 27th, 2018, is American Diabetes Association Alert Day and the hope is that people will learn more information about the disease and what actions they can take to decrease their risk of developing it. If you have diabetes, some of the best things you can do to better your condition are to improve your diet, exercise more often, and cleanse your body of impurities.

People with diabetes are told to watch their sugar intake, even though sugar is not really the most dangerous food for diabetics. Fat-rich diets raise blood sugar more than anything. This is why eating fresh fruits and vegetables are beneficial for those with diabetes. Yes, fruits are good for you! In fact, here are the best fruits for diabetics to eat.

Limes & Lemons:

Limes and lemons contain an array of nutrients, including vitamins A,B, & C, magnesium, sodium, and soluble fiber, which helps to regulate blood sugar levels. The soluble fiber works to restrain the amount of sugar that gets released into the blood. Additionally, these citrus fruits have a low glycemic index, which keeps glucose levels normal.

Blackberries:

100 grams of blackberries only contain five grams of sugar and five grams of fiber. The more fiber you can get in your diet, the better! High fiber diets have been known to lower bad cholesterol and help diabetics with weight management.

Watermelons:

Because watermelon is sweet, it seems like it would contain a lot of sugar, but it doesn’t. This is because watermelons are comprised of over 90% water. They also contain lycopene, which is a phytochemical that has been known to lower blood sugar and improve insulin sensitivity. It is easy to eat too much watermelon, so be mindful of how much you consume at once.

Avocado:

If you have diabetes, start incorporating avocados into your life. Studies show that diets rich in complex carbohydrates and healthy monounsaturated fats improve insulin sensitivity. Avocados don’t have any natural sugars and contain seven grams of fiber per every 100 grams. Add them to smoothies, salads, or just eat them with a little sea salt and pepper.

Cranberries:

Cranberries work to regulate the body’s glucose levels and it helps that they have very low sugar content. There are also tons of antioxidants and a good amount of fiber in cranberries. Additionally, they can help prevent UTIs, which diabetics are more prone to developing.

As always, make sure to be mindful of your portions when it comes to eating fruit. You don’t want to eat too much fruit and cause your sugar levels to spike.

Q: Your article was extremely thorough and sound concerning Diabetes, it's causes and remedies. However, I sort of lost you on weather juvenile diabetics can really be helped by natural remedies? After all, they have a non-functioning pancreas. Can it really be really be revived? If one had diabetes for 50 years. Is there really any hope for reviving the pancreas naturally, without inserting insulin any more? Please let me know, in my friends case, she had hepatitis before becoming a diabetic at age 14. There is a theory that this disease somehow instituted the destruction of the pancreas. Could it be, that insulin production was literally destroyed never to start again. Have you had other diabetics who were Type 1 recover totally from the disease? Especially after the pancreas has been shut down for so many years.

    A:

Beloved, there are no exceptions with natural healing. As long as the body is alive, the organs are alive, though they may be taxed. Give them what they need and simply watching the healing take place. Healing is simplistic! Nature does not categorize disease, e.g. Diabetes Type 1, Type 2. Nature heals what needs to be healed!

Q: For about 2.5 months I have been on the path of taking care of my temple (body). I am more dedicated than I have been in the past. One I was diagnose with so-called diabetes (type II) took the pills (made me sicker than I was) and now my doctor has stressed taking insulin injections. Which I am totally against it. Since I have been taking the Pancreas formula, changed my diet (no meats, juicing, fresh fruits, green veggies (organic))& vigorous exercise (cardio), my A1c has gone from 10.9 to 8.6(should be 6.5) in the span of 2mths. Glucose 137 (should be 70-125) has been high as 238 and higher. However, my doctor insist that my diabetes is not controlled, and will not get better because the pancreas function in type2 diabetics declines as time goes on. Therefore, insulin injection will deter kidney failure, heart attack, body amputations, and blindness. I know our emotions help with the conditions of the disease body. What can I do to continue to lower blood sugars to a healthy level? Lower trigylcerides and cholesterol(lower in the last two months)? My blood pressure is 122/80.

    A:

Performing the Pancreas kit and regimen as much and as often as you can and you'll get your desired results.

Great maintenance formulas include CIRCUL-AID, PANCREAS FORMULA, SUGAR BUSTER, and BIO-INSULIN.

Q: I just purchased the Pancreas Kit for children, for my 4 year old who was diagnosed with type one diabetes. I have been feeding her a raw diet of just vegetables. The diet includes no dairy, no grains, and fruit for a week. I also started the Pancreas kit last week too. I was wondering if there is any reason why her blood sugar levels would go up? All she is eating is veggies, and her sugar levels are at 300 most of the time. Even if she doesn't eat anything, it still goes up to 300. I also know it says you cannot tell us not to give, or not to give her insulin, or not. I am still currently giving it to her. Does the pancreas kit work just as well if the are receiving insulin or not? Or does it hinder the process?. I would really appreciate other advise you would offer. Thanks so much!

    A:

Drugs and herbs don't mix! They cancel each other out. The blood sugar will go up and down due to the body attempting to regulate, and normalize the blood sugar levels. Perfectly normal! It's called "healing crisis. Whatever you guys choose to do, simply keep monitoring the person. Ask the person how he/she feels (very important).

Q: While doing a candida cleanse, it was told to me that I should be following a raw food diet full of fruits and vegetables. Fruits have high sugar content and can feed a candida overgrowth, as it is a well known fact that candida albicans thrive on sugar. How can I justify eating fruits high in sugar? Thank you for your comments. Ozzy

A: Yes, when you have a candida issue it's best to avoid refined sugar. Sugar from a natural source like fruits should be consumed moderately. In your case it would be best to consume fruits mainly in the mornings for breakfast when your body maximizes on food the most, avoiding the ones that are very high in sugar.

Q: I'm doing the Full Body Cleanse and I have a few questions about it: I get tired of drinking just the distilled water and I'd like to drink the herbal teas, but I don't like it by itself. Would it mess things up to add a pack or two of Splenda to my tea or maybe honey? I can't stand the salads with the olive oil or apple cider vinegar or the lemon juice as dressing and it makes me gag. I have To have some sort of salad dressing. What kind would be suitable? Do I look for sugar-free? Or organic and natural? I found one that is organic and natural, but it has 3 grams of sugar in it. Without eating all my whole grained breads and other fiber, I haven't had much of a bowel movement in 3 days, should I wait a while yet? (I had surgery on my bowels and always had to take fiber tablets and eat lots of grains to get my bowels to move.) I haven't done the enemas yet, (low on money) should I try that? Or should I resume my fiber tablets I normally take? Any type of fiber I could add to my fruit smoothies in the morning? I want to also do the female cleanse. Is it ok to do that immediately after I finish the full body cleanse or should I wait for a little while? Thank you for all your help, I feel much better than I did before and I just started this detox a week ago, lost 10 pounds, too, woohoooooo! Thank you

    A:

    1. Instead of splenda, use agave, stevia, or grade b maple syrup as a sweetener.

    2. In re Salad Dressing, an organic and natural one is great. You can also check our website for salad dressing recipes.

    3. The fiber pills are not part of the cleanse, so we wouldn't advise those. Fruit is you best choice of fiber so look into eating more papaya, mango, figs, etc. And yes, colonics (and enemas) would greatly help you - undoubtedly!

    4. You can do the Female Cleanse right after you finish detoxing. There's no need to wait!

Q: I have been experiencing diabetes for 14 years, using insulin twice daily along with another diabetes control pill (januvia). This has all been to no avail as I continue to suffer from the disease along with hypertension. As someone who has practiced spiritual principles for many, many years, I feel that I am pretty much in tune with my True Spirit. However, I realize that my eating habits and the use of medications are aiding in the continuance of the seeming illness. I would love to try your product but I have for many years suffered from a lost of control of appetite. The only program that has ever really helped to decrease my appetite was Atkins diet, which is near impossible to stay with. I lost weight and the sugars decreased. However, I was not able to continue eating only meats and virtually no fruit or veggies and therefore gained all the weight back. I even has a lap band inserted, which did nothing for the decrease of my appetite and I consequently found foods to eat which would go through the band. Please help!!

    A:

Your situation is psychological and emotional in nature. Our Pancreas kit will greatly assist you (physically) in healing from diabetes. Please read our "Diabetes" article to better understand this insidious disease. You have work to do within, Beloved!

Q: I have been experiencing very trying health issues for many years (over 25 years). The trouble began when my gall bladder was removed 26 years ago. I had mood swings, lack of energy, and severe diarrhea. Approximately 13 years ago I had an additional surgery for an umbilical hernia. Due to pre-op tests, my physician diagnosed me with thyroid disease and placed me on synthroid. This medication dramatically improved the digestive issues I had experienced for many years. I had very loose bowels when menstruating and when I was ill. I am overweight and have dealt with weight issues all my life. Three years ago I had a scare where I thought I experienced a heart attack. I spent three days in the hospital and learned of many health risks. My triglycerides were extremely high along with my sugar being borderline. I have been tested for diabetes on a number of occasions in my life but never show to be. There are numerous cases of diabetes in my family. My mother and one sister are insulin dependent and one other sister is on some form of pill medication for diabetes. At that time, I gave up sugar and began a regime at the gym. The have not eaten any sweets other than what I get in a little ketchup occasionally or some other kind of sauce that may contain some sugar. I have gone to the gym with minimal results in losing weight. I had a total hysterectomy six weeks ago. My regular GP has been on vacation and I've been dealing with one of her associates. This dr. sent me in for glucose tolerance and she has since diagnosed me as Type II Diabetic. She put me on a medication called "Metformin" and has me taking a 500 mg pill twice daily. I have only been on this medication for three days. I have been very careful to eat only what they say I can. I am experiencing the same issues as before with the diarrhea. Last night I was up all night with this and it is like water coming out of me. I am unable to find a physician who understands that I want to lose the weight, but cannot when I'm constantly dehydrated and feeling lethargic. When I have this constant problem, I am not able to do what I need to do for my overall health. Sorry to be so wordy but I wanted to explain the full extent of what I am experiencing. My friend told me to get on this website and explain my issues. He feels that you may be able to guide me in the direction of a natural product or products that can help me to have normal bowel movements and therefore begin doing the physical exercise that is needed for me to reduce my chances of becoming an insulin dependent diabetic.

Q: Greetings, On May 10th 2003, I was attacked while on my job and I suffered injuries to the lumbar and to the cervical spine. I was given pain management therapy (cortizone) in massive doses; about 18+ injections over a 3-week period in October of the same year. By Thanksgiving, 2003, I was admitted into hospital with blood sugar levels of 800+! While thyroid issues have exhibited in the family, there is no history of diabetes on either the maternal or paternal sides of my family, niether is there any sign of the disease in any of my other 11 siblings, the youngest of which is 40+. At one point, the symptoms of the diabetes dissapeared for 2 years, and reappeared in January of 2007. I am not overweight, nor do I have eccesive body fat. I work out every day with weights, and have the appearance of a body builder, although not excessive. I walk about 3-5 miles every day and have consistently low blood pressure levels, much to the surprise of my doctors. I have and excellent diet; mostly consisting of fresh vegetables and skinless broiled chicken and fish. Some beef with the marble trimmed. I have a normal stool consisting of solid waste, and regularly. I have long suggested that my pancreatic duct(s) are blocked and after reading some of the literature on your website, I am even surer of it. Although the levels lately are starting to stabilize again, I am taking this synthetic insulin, about 3-4 units in the mornings, and before dinner, and about 10-16 units of the overnite insulin. Being well muscled, and not overweight therefore not needing to lose weight, and being totally active, What are my options in assisting me to unblock the pancreatic ducts of what I believe to be the cortizone, as I have spoken to others with the same situation, so that my pancreas may better function? I have also read about some of the other products that may be helpful. I look forward to your response, as I have heard your commercial on KJLH radio.

    A:

Sounds like you need to perform the FULL BODY DETOX and PANCREAS CLEANSE AND REGIMEN to kick start your pancreas into activity. Also, practice some of the other regimens I listed in the â€DIABETES†article (especially drinking the vegetable juice).

Q: On WebMD there is information stating that high fiber foods such as raw fruits, and vegetables can irritate or flare up Crohn's disease. But, your article on Chron's disease says to switch to a vegan diet after detoxing. Why would raw fruits and vegetables flare up Chron's disease? Why do your articles suggest to eat raw fruits and veggies when people say it can irritate the disease?

    A:

We don't subscribe to that. We do our own homework at Dherbs.com. There is no confusion at Dherbs because we use logic, reason, common sense, intuition, wisdom, etc. So we are not confused in regards to food and health.

Q: I want to get this for my mother as she is trying to lose weight and keep her sugar level and blood pressure under control and not be in any danger from taking this. Her sugar was in the 300's and we got her to keep it down between 140 and 180. She was diagnosed with Diabetes last year and is working on eating right. I will order once you answer this. Should she talk to her doctor first or can she try it first?

Q: Hi Dherbs. I'm pregnant. I've been slacking off with my diet for years now, eating just about every bad thing but pork. I had gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy. Now I may have it again with my current pregnancy at 4 months. They're going to give me the 3 hr test and I know they'll try to make me take insulin. I really don't want to shoot myself with needles. It wasn't a pleasant experience last time. Anyway to make a long story short, I wanted to know if the following would be good products to work on the situation: FULL BODY DETOX SUGAR BUSTER TEA PANCREAS FORMULA Would any of these pose a problem or interact poorly with my baby? Do you suggest any other effective formula of yours to improve my glucose uptake and general health during this pregnancy?

    A:

I highly suggest the 10-DAY ELECTRIC GREENS CELL FOOD CLEANSE for pregnant women. This cleanse will help to address all your needs and all health concerns. You can perform it as much as you like too! It provides great nutrition for mother and developing child.

    Eyes Formula
    Brain Tuner
CNS (Central Nervous System) Formula Pancreas Formula

You'll notice the benefits in taking these products in addition to eating healthier.

Q: Hi, I am a 59 yr old female who has diabetes and weighs aprox. 425 lbs. I also have Lymphedema along with a bad case of tendonitis in my left rotator cuff, as well as kidney disease. That being said, I guess I am a mess! I have tried loose weight and eat normal but after all these years I am asking myself, "what is normal"? I have been thinking about going on a raw food diet but, have no idea where to start! I know it includes salads but, I am sure I will get board quickly eating just that. I also am wondering what does one eat for breakfast other then fruit of which I have to be very careful of because I am a brittle diabetic and am on insulin. I am so tired of failing and want to succeed this time! I want to be able to walk and stand for long periods of time and be independent again. I do have an under-active thyroid and am currently taking 137 mic. of thyroid. Can you send me some information on an anti inflammatory, low protein, low carb. diet? Thank you.

    A:

    I can definitely help you!

I run an online vegan health/fitness/nutriton program over skype at www.theveganeffect.com. I have coached many to their best health and have reversed all of the problems you have. Please check out the site!

Let's go through them one by one shall we? Lymph-edema is a build up of fluid. Your lymphatic system like your liver and kidney are your bodies garbage men. When toxicity gets to overwhelming your garbage men go on strike or are just overwhelmed. You should do a cleanse/detox and do exercises that stimulate the lymphatic system. The best would be a mini trampoline. Just 15 minutes a day goes far. Lympedema is healed by a high alkaline diet. Increasing greens and fruits while decreasing dairy, meat, alcohol, salt, and processed food.

Tendonitis can be healed also by an anti-inflammatory diet . Increasing berries and greens while decreasing dairy, meat, salt, and alcohol.

Thyroid can be repaired also by an alkaline diet and detox. You can find a thyroid support formula at dherbs.com.

Diabetes is reversed using a low fat raw vegan diet. In 30 days you can completely get off insulin if you cut out the fat and get on a high carb raw vegan diet. The only programs who are actually reversing diabetes are using the same protocol as my program. I do not do a low carb diet especially when reversing diabetes. None of the programs healing your condition do either. Diabetes is not a carb issue but a fat issue. Fat coats your cells and blocks the sugar insulin connection. A low carb diet is a high fat diet and will only manage your condition at best.

The first of many ebooks I will write for Dherbs is titled "Go Vegan the Healthy Way!" It is being edited nowe and hopefully soon it will be available at a low cost. Look for it on Dherbs. I will email you when it is available as well.

A typical detox raw food program looks like this

    Breakfast:

Green smoothie: 1 1/2- 2 cups water / 1 cup greens / 3-5 medium pieces of fruit blended.

(see "Green Smoothie Revolution" Boutenko for more info)

    Bridge: 2-3 medium sized fruits

    Lunch:

Raw Wraps: collard greens as wraps/ tomato, cucumber, bell pepper / fresh herbs / Sauce (salsa/tahini/guacamole/ etc))

    Bridge:2-3 medium pieces of fruit

    Dinner:

Raw pasta: Zuchini sliced with a potato peeler / veggies / Homemade pasta sauce made in blender

Snack: Sorbet: Blended frozen fruit in a blender

    Hope this helps,

Q: I am 58 years old 5'9.5" 145lbs. I have diabetes, hepatitis "C", high blood pressure, chronic renal disease and asthma. Where do I start? What do you suggest? If it would help I could fax my last blood work result.

    A:

There is healing for you, Beloved! For diabetes, perform the Pancreas Kit and Regimen. For Hepatitis C, perform the FULL BODY DETOX. For high blood pressure, the FULL BODY DETOX will work for this as well. For asthma, perform the RESPIRATORY CLEANSE AND REGIMEN. Chronic renal disease? The RESPIRATORY CLEANSE AND REGIMEN will also help for this too! So basically, you need to perform the Full Body Detox. After you perform your cleanses, make sure your diet is correct: cut out or cut back meat, and dairy products, refined grains and starches, etc. Avoid pharmaceutical meds. Bathe in sea salt (add 1 box) every day. Dietary and lifestyle change is the key!!!!

Q: I have been dealing with diabetes for over twenty years. I have been on dialysis for almost three years, am a bilateral amputee, and have retinopathy and cardiovascular problems. I don't eat many carbs and take only ten units of Lantus per day. Blood sugars run good, last A1C was 5.6. I don't know what I can take because of the strict renal diet I am on. That's what has me stumped. Can you help?

    A:

Sir, drugs and herbs don't mix! Sounds like you're on a strict drug-based regimen. You'd have to consider giving up your meds if you go the herbal route. Read our article HERBS VS. PHARMACEUTICAL DRUGS for more clarity of what I'm saying to you here. Regardless of your condition, our herbs would greatly help you.

Q: I have purchased and started your FULL BODY DETOX (FBD) but I need your advice. I'm a so-called diabetic, I'm not overweight 5'9" 140lbs. I've read many of your articles including the one titled "Can I take my medication with FBD?" The first day I started the detox, I didn't take my meds and all I ate was fruits and veggies but my blood sugar was higher than it had been in a long time...356 to be exact. So I stopped and started this week, while taking my meds and it's still been higher than normal...in the 200's range. I understand that you stated that the herbs would be working against the meds since they're considered poisons in the body. My concern is this, I want to continue to cleanse my body but I don't want my blood sugar to stay out of control for an extended period of time...for obvious reasons. My question is, what do you suggest I do in continuing this cleanse? Will the FBD regulate my blood sugar levels over the next 2 weeks as my body begins to repair itself? Or should I continue taking my meds until I'm done with the cleanse? I plan to do the pancreas cleanse next. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Peace

    A:

Like we clearly and unequivocally explain in so many of our articles, the body is and will regulate itself and you will see this via fluctuation. Levels will be up and down and inconsistent. Your body is going to heal in its own way so if you are concerned about high levels for extended periods of time, you may want to take your meds and refrain from taking the herbs until your levels reach a level you feel safe with. You know, religion is not the only thing that requires faith. Healing requires faith too!
