6 Foods That Naturally Boost Testosterone Levels

Testosterone is a hormone that exists in both men and women, and it works to increase energy levels, regulate sperm production, promote muscle mass, and control sex drive. As you age, testosterone levels begin to decline and the most common bodily function that is affected is sex drive. Decreased testosterone levels are a natural part of aging, but there are many foods that can help to keep testosterone levels as normal as possible.

Men who have the desire to boost sex drive and develop bigger muscles require the right foods that focus on testosterone. In doing so, men increase the body’s anabolism, which is the ability to burn calories and fat while building and repairing muscle tissues. Men with lower testosterone levels have a tendency to gain weight more easily than men with higher levels. In order to boost testosterone levels, place emphasis on the foods that you are consuming. Unhealthy foods are not conducive to maintaining a consistent T count. Below, you’ll find six of the best foods that enhance testosterone levels.

Spinach:

Spinach should be in your diet, plain and simple, whether you have low T levels or not. Because spinach contains a lot of magnesium, it helps to lower the body’s levels of sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG), which can bind to free testosterone levels and make them inactive. The International Journal of Andrology published a study that explained how boosting magnesium intake was linked to higher testosterone levels. Other magnesium-rich foods include pumpkin seeds, Swiss chard, almonds, and sesame seeds.

Garlic:

Garlic has been praised by bodybuilders for years because it works to boost testosterone by lowering cortisol levels (the stress hormone). Garlic is also a vasodilator, meaning that it works to get more blood to your muscles for maximum anabolic effect. Men with low libido are also encouraged to incorporate garlic into their diet.

Ginger:

Ginger is known for reducing inflammation, calming digestion, and soothing sore throats, but one of its lesser-known abilities is that it helps to improve testosterone levels and sexual function. One study, which was published in the International Journal of Reproductive BioMedicine, found that ginger decreased sperm DNA fragmentation. This translates to a reduced risk of miscarriage and improved fertility. Further studies on humans need to be conducted to support more testosterone-boosting benefits of ginger.

Brazil Nuts:

Before we detail how Brazil nuts benefit testosterone levels, it is important to note that you should only consume two or three Brazil nuts per day. Brazil nuts contain selenium and zinc, both of which work to boost your T count and improve overall reproductive health. A one ounce serving of Brazil nuts fulfills 988% of your recommended daily intake of selenium, which has been know to improve sperm motility and quality. Preliminary studies show that selenium has a small impact on testosterone and that athletes may not see increased T levels after eating selenium rich foods.

Beets:

It seems that beets can do no wrong! Beets are rich in boron, which is necessary for testosterone production and increasing free testosterone levels. Research suggests that consuming 10 grams of boron for at least six days is enough to elevate T levels. Beets always work to decrease inflammation and increase nitric oxide levels, which help to dilate blood vessels and improve blood flow.

Grapes:

As we previously mentioned, boron encourages healthy testosterone production, and red grapes are great sources of boron. On top of this, grape skins are rich in resveratrol, which has been known to improve sperm health. Chinese researchers have found that 5-10 grams of grape skin can raise T levels and improve the sperm’s ability to swim.

Q: I am writing to you because I recently had my blood checked for hormone levels, it turns out I am producing more of some male hormone in large amounts. I think its called the DHAEs, in any case the endocrine specialist says it could be cysts on my ovaries or a tumor in my adrenals that is making my count 163 where a normal woman produces this hormone at a 79 count, of course I am not claiming any tumors, and I asked her to send me back to the lab to "retake" a sample...before I go back, I would like to try regulate the glandular function with your help and see if the results differ.

    A:

HMMM, DHAE OR DE-HYDRO EPI-ANDROSTERONE IT'S CALLED AND IS SOMEWHAT UNIQUE BECAUSE THE HORMONE "ANDROSTERONE" IS UNISEXUAL AND BOTH SEXES OR GENDERS PRODUCE IT BUT IT'S REALLY A FEMALE HORMONE BUT HAS BEEN GIVEN OR ATTRIBUTED TO MALES TO BALANCE WOMEN HAVING 2 HORMONES: PROGESTERONE AND ESTROGEN, AND SO NOW MALES HAVE TESTOSTERONE AND ANDROSTERONE. WELL, CLEARLY A HORMONAL IMBALANCE AND DENOTES A DEFICIENCY WITH THE ENDOCRINE SYSTEM. RARELY, I WOULD AGREE WITH THE ENDOCRINOLOGIST IN THIS CASE BECAUSE DHAE IS PRODUCED IN AND SECRETED BY THE ADRENAL GLANDS. BUT YOU SEE, WHETHER OVARIES OR ADRENALS, YOU ARE DEALING WITH "GLANDS" AND IT STILL POINTS TO THE HORMONAL OR ENDOCRINE SYSTEM SO FOR SURE WE KNOW THE PROBLEM IS HERE WITH THIS BODILY SYSTEM (ENDOCRINE OR HORMONAL). FOR SURE ... I MOST DEFINITELY UNDERSTAND. WITHOUT A DOUBT I AM SUGGESTING THE TOTAL WOMAN CLEANSE AND THE ADRENALIZER FORMULA (REMOVE ONE OF THE FORMULAS FROM THE TOTAL WOMAN CLEANSE THAT YOU FEEL YOU DON'T NEED AND SUPPLEMENT WITH ADRENALIZER FORMULA.)

Q: My sister has sickle cell anemia and has to deal with her potassium levels being too high. Although she drinks plenty of water all of the time she was just hospitalized for being dehydrated as well as high potassium levels. This is my question; to help her dehydration if she drank water with the added vitamins would that help? and what can she do to control her potassium levels? She does not eat foods with potassium and her levels are still high.

    A:

YES, IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO DRINK WATER WITH VITAMINS ADDED TO THEM. THE BEST FORM OF VITAMINS AND MINERALS IS KHEMETIAN GOLD. THIS FORMULA WILL ALSO ADDRESS HER POTASSIUM IMBALANCE AS WELL.

Q: I have been reading a lot lately on HCG levels and people who have acquired HCG injections to lose weight at a fast rate of speed. Ultimately, if I understand correctly, HCG is a fertility booster. Would the fertility kit your company produces have the same effect, and actually raise the HCG levels of a person's chemistry? I would much prefer to treat my body 100% organically/herbally. I have highly mixed emotions about allowing "doctors" to inject something into my body, if there is an alternative.

    A:

Our Fertility Kit is 100% organic (natural) and does not only work on one level (i.e. HCG), but all hormonal levels in addition to balancing, strengthening, and toning the hormonal system. All hormones are raised to their necessary level with our fertility kit and regimen.

It is unnatural to inject anything into the human body. It's a disrespect to the body which is perfectly qualified to do what it was designed to do if you just give the body what it needs.

Follow your emotions (or gut instinct) about doctors and injection. Dherbs offers a safe and sane alternative. Give it a try! GO NATURAL!

Take the Female Health tea along with the kit to enhance its effect and the chances of conception.

    A:

The goal should be to heal from diabetes. Look into our Pancreas Kit and Regimen and perform it at least twice a year.

To lower high protein levels, cut out meat and dairy products (or greatly lower them), and give our Kidney-Bladder-Adrenal and Electric Greens Cell Food  a try.

Q: I just purchased the Pancreas Kit for children, for my 4 year old who was diagnosed with type one diabetes. I have been feeding her a raw diet of just vegetables. The diet includes no dairy, no grains, and fruit for a week. I also started the Pancreas kit last week too. I was wondering if there is any reason why her blood sugar levels would go up? All she is eating is veggies, and her sugar levels are at 300 most of the time. Even if she doesn't eat anything, it still goes up to 300. I also know it says you cannot tell us not to give, or not to give her insulin, or not. I am still currently giving it to her. Does the pancreas kit work just as well if the are receiving insulin or not? Or does it hinder the process?. I would really appreciate other advise you would offer. Thanks so much!

    A:

Drugs and herbs don't mix! They cancel each other out. The blood sugar will go up and down due to the body attempting to regulate, and normalize the blood sugar levels. Perfectly normal! It's called "healing crisis. Whatever you guys choose to do, simply keep monitoring the person. Ask the person how he/she feels (very important).

Q: My fiance is diabetic and his doctor checked his kidney function and told him that his kidney is failing and he needed a kidney biopsy due to increased creatinine levels. Also he has high potassium levels and for this the doctor indicated a low potassium diet. We would like advice since all the doctors say the kidney cannot regenerate itself and the next step is dialysis. Please advise.

    A:

The doctors are right under Western standards and information, no body part can regenerate itself with the USE OF DRUGS, but not so with herbs. You CAN regenerate every organ in the body with herbs. The doctors can't help him, but natural healing protocols can. I highly recommend he start with the Pancreas Kit and Regimen (which comes with a dietary guideline. Western doctors are insane. You couldn't pay me to visit a doctor after learning all I've learned. Doctors do more harm than good. Get your fiance on the herbs as soon as possible.

Q: I had my annual physical in November 2008, where it was determined that my Vitamin D levels were low (17). I did the Full Body Detox in January, which was great. I ordered and started taking the Vitamin D pills after the detox. I went to the Dr. in March, and was retested for the Vitamin D deficiency. My levels had dropped even lower to 8. Was there something else I should have been taking with the Vitamin D?

    A:

When working on the blood you should never isolate (like only be concerned with Vitamin D levels). The body is holistic, and so is the blood. Focus on the entire blood. You should take (in addition to the Vitamin D) Blood and Lymphatic Formula, Iron Phosphate, and Vitamin C Formula. These help cleanse, purify, and rebuild the blood.

Q: I am a woman who happens to be diabetic and now I am pregnant. I would like to know what foods I should eat and restrain from while I am still pregnant. I am also taking insulin to keep my blood sugar levels low enough as not to harm my baby. They are telling me I need to eat dairy and meat to meet the dietary requirements for a healthy baby. Please help me.

    A:

Congratulations on your pregnancy. New life is such a wonderful thing!

We recommend that you drink our Pancreas tea (1-2 cups a day).

Eat plenty of cinnamon, ginger, and cayenne pepper. Abstain from dairy products and meat products. If anything, eat meat-less (vegan) alternatives -- you can find plenty in our Alternative Diet and Lifestyle Manual ($11).

Eat plenty of nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables. You can eat steamed vegetables and brown and/or wild rice (with vegan chicken if you like). Just switch meat for vegan products and switch to non-dairy products or dairy alternatives (which can be found in the Alternative Diet and Lifestyle manual) in order to receive the necessary nutrition without any harmful side effects.

For great nutrition for your baby, we recommend the following Dherbs formulas: PRE-NATAL FORMULA, VITAMIN C FORMULA, ELECTRIC GREENS, and Iodine Formula.

For natural sugar, try Stevia, Agave Nectar, and/or Grade B maple syrup.
