Q: I am just becoming a vegan going on 20 years in June, and it takes a lot of discipline. I was wondering if you knew any good recipes for some good vegan style dishes. I really want to establish a vegan restaurant. I have purchased your Alternative Diet and Lifestyle Manual, and I know its healthier to eat vegan. But, I also understand its not the healthiest due to soy products. Is their still away to satisfy my appetite and well being at the same time?

Q: How often should one eat cook food? I'm a vegan, I do not consume any meat, seafood, milk what so ever. I eat water cresses like everyday so as cook food. Like white rice with black bean sauce, spinach, and pasta at time's I'll eat some Chinese fried rice, veggie roll, steamed vegetables, any advice?
You can eat cooked food as much as you like. However, try to incorporate as many nutrient-dense raw foods, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, raw nuts and seeds, into your diet to make sure you are receiving an adequate amount of nutrients.
Q: What's the best way to start on a vegan/raw food diet? I am not sure what to eat to make sure I would get a nutritious diet-you may not be able to go into that much detail but how can I get sample meal plans for breakfast, lunch and dinner incorporating this type of diet-perhaps there is somewhere on the web I find something like this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
If I do say myself, the best way to start a raw food diet is to be coached by me. I run a 6 month health coaching program that is 60-90 percent raw and 100 percent vegan/gluten free/ allergy free. 2: Read books like "beauty detox solution" by snyder, "80/10/10" by Dr. Graham., or "The Paradigm diet" by Adam Dave
3: Start simple with breakfast. Always start your day with a green smoothie. read "Green smoothie revolution" by forget authors name at the moment. heh.
A sample meal plan would be.
Breakfast: Green smoothie
Bridge: raw bar, handful of nuts or seeds, or fruit
Lunch: Raw wraps made from collard greens. use a base of tahini, hummus, or nut butter. Fill with sprouts and colorful veggies
Bridge: raw bar, handful nuts or seeds, or fruit
Dinner: Raw pasta with a large salad

Q: I'm a raw vegan, and still suffering from acne. I stay away from all sweeteners, except fresh whole fruits. I started to have lots of greens juices these days, and my skin has improved a little bit. What about spices such a cayenne pepper, is it bad for your skin? What about goji berries? I know they are diet fruits, thats why I stay away from them for a while. I even fast for a while. I just don't know how my skin can getter better.

Q: I read in a health article that Kale may not be the best for people with Gallbladder problems. Is this true, or false? We are taking your Liver and Gallbladder. I works very well. We have started to eat vegan, and raw food diet.

Q: I don't know if you remember or know, but there was a Vegan Couple that had a newborn baby, and the baby had died from what seemed to be a lack a of nutrients because the couple fed the baby a vegan diet. If you remember this, what do you think went wrong.
The couple was from Atlanta! What went wrong is that while they were well-intentioned, they were ignorant, ignorant to true nutrition. They fed the baby soy milk, and soy milk does not contain nutrition. They didn't supplement the soy milk with nutrition which they could have done with herbs such as alfalfa, Irish Moss, Iceland Moss, etc.
Q: What is the best way for a Vegan to get vit? B 12? What do you think about essential oils? Have you heard of the Young Living brand? I work with a woman who says she has eczema, but it is deep purple and very painful. I have never seen anything like it, but her doctors want to try chemo to get rid of it. Doctors are so brilliant. Why do so many people go to get punished by them?

Q: I have been taking your herbs for 6 months now. My issue is I have a 3-5 day period and day 1 and 2 my period is heavy. I have never had a heavy period until I moved with my mother and 3 nieces and nephew a little over a year ago. I feel it is a metaphysical reason I am having these problems. I do not have any children of my own and I have never been married. I am 36 years old. Plus I eat mostly a raw food and vegan diet. My period started when I was 10 years old. What would you advise?

Q: Are vegan burgers with whole grain brown rice a good food combination?
There are too many grains in that combination. Consider a veggie side, i.e. salad. We reccomend a vegan, raw foods diet, full of fresh fruits and vegetables in order for you to receive the nutrients you need and detoxify your system.
Q: My question is about hair loss. I am a 45 year old African American female. I started losing my hair about 15 years ago. I specifically remember unusual symptoms before it started to fall out. First, my entire scalp had a burning sensation, and it was very tender to the touch. It was very difficult to brush, comb and wash. Then after that, I am not sure how much longer after, but a dry patch of skin developed toward the back of my head (approximately 1 inch in diameter). I was able to peel it off and pull it through the strains of hair (very weird). That happened a couple of times and not too long after that, my hair started to fall out in large amounts for a fairly long period of time. At the moment I would say that I am mostly bald with hair mostly around the edges. Also I would like to mention that hair started to grow on my chest BUT I started to lose hair in my vaginal area. Sorry if some of this sounds sketchy but it's been 15 years!! I will try to give you a little bit of my history. I am 5'8" and 135lbs. I would say that for the most part, I have been an athlete all my life. My menses were very irregular sometimes and/or absent for long periods of time. When my menses were present, I had very bad cramps and clotting. My menses are now very regular and I hardly have any cramps, my flow is light and very little clotting. I would have to say that it is now a pleasure to have my "period". This also might be a result from switching my diet to a vegetarian diet. I have been a vegetarian for about 16 years. I would say 20% is dairy, but after reading your articles, I am trying my best to become vegan, hopefully even a raw foodist. I also eat tofu. I have never had hair problems growing up. I did get relaxers, but only twice a year. I have had my appendix removed when I was in elementary school. My bowel movements are usually once a day. (I know it needs to be 3.) So anyway, I have been to a couple of medical doctors to no avail, so now I am coming to you. I just received the following products from your company today (10-06-08). Q: My wife and I started your Full Body Detox 9 days ago. Things are going well but in reference to the "raw food" diet we have gone a few times to some raw food restaurants such as Leaf & Raw. Are they O.K.? Secondly, are there some nuts to stay away from and is there a limit to how much you should consume?
Raw food restaurants sell RAW FOODS. That's recommended during the Full Body Detox. No problem here! Read our article WHAT IS RAW FOODS. The only nuts you might want to stay away from are peanuts. Glad to hear the detox I going swell!
A: All of our products are 100% all natural plant life herbs. We do not use any kind of unnatural ingredients including animal products, gluten, GMO, binders or fillers.
Q: The product label talks in terms of children's needs. The directions say "1 to 2 drops" as needed. What about adults? How many drops under the tongue or in water and how many times per day? Is it okay to take it every day even though it has Echinacea?
You can double up the children's dosage for yourself as an adult and yes, you can take it every day despite the Echinacea
Q: What is the difference between the PARASITE AND WORMS ELIMINATOR EXTRACT vs. the vegan caps? I trying to decide which one should I take? Are liquids better than capsules?
CAPSULES ARE BETTER THAN EXTRACTS AS CAPSULES ARE MORE POTENT AND STAY IN THE BODY LONGER.
Q: Hey Gary, I've heard a lot of hype about the paleo diet. I'm a vegan. Is the paleo diet a diet you would recommend? Can it work with vegan lifestyle? Thanks!

The Paleo diet.... something nice.... something nice.... heh.
The Paleo diet emphasizes drinking water and eating local/organic food. They shun dairy, processed food, and grains. I agree.
I disagree with just about everything else. For paleo theory to be correct Vegans either have to not exist or be doing very poorly. Wrong on both accounts. They say vegans just can't get enough protein or that we are missing x,y,z in our diets. Never mind that every major paleo website sells the supplements they say only vegans are deficient in. "Vegans don't get enough protein so eat meat and then buy our protein powder supplements. Vegans don't get enough omega 3's so just eat fish and while you are at it buy our krill oil supplements." Vegans are doing extremely well and in most long term studies Vegans end up on top in both health and longevity.

They claim carbohydrates make you fat and that the more you eat the more you weigh. Why then do the 80-10-10 crowd all appear not only all thin but extremely healthy? Carbohydrates are your bodies main source of fuel. Preferred source. Every cell in your body runs on glucose. The human body is amazing. The is a secondary source of energy in case of starvation, or glucose deprived. The body starts to burn fat as fuel known as keytosis. This was only meant as a way to keep the body running during famine. However the paleo people think this is a preferred state to be in. It's not. Look up keto-acidosis. Could be deadly.The bottom line is that people will always be looking forward to the latest fad that tells them "good things about their bad habits".

Q: I have been bleeding since 4/13/08. I desperately need help. Is there an herb you could recommend that I take? I had to stop working because of my dizziness and lack of energy. Q: I have been told that I have a viral infection (tropical spastic Para paresis) caused by the htlv1 virus. It gives me the same symptoms as a person with multiple sclerosis. We make it very clear that the detox (FULL BODY DETOX) diet calls for a strictly raw foods diet. Now if you want to eat vegan foods that's your choice via free will. Raw foods are BEST though! Just do the best you can!
