We love juice! We aren’t talking about store bought, bottled juices that can sit on the shelves for six months without going rotten. The juices we love are typically homemade, or made in a juice bar. That’s right, people, juicing is about freshness, not fortified ingredients and excess sugar content.

If you are new to juicing, it can be difficult to find the recipes that work for you. Before you even consider what recipes to make, you must first purchase a juicer, which doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg. Centrifugal juicers are quite common and can be purchased for about $40. These can be great if you want to juice from time to time, but they aren’t great at juicing leafy greens. If you decide that juicing is life, it is wise to invest in a masticating juicer, commonly referred to as a slow juicer. These juicers are by no means slow, as the name may suggest; rather, they juice quickly and help you get the most nutrients and flavor from your juicing ingredients. Keep in mind that slow juicers can come out to $400 or more.

We want to go on record and say that even though juicing is beneficial for the body, we do encourage you to explore other, healthier meal options. Smoothies, salads, zucchini noodle pastas, and other raw and vegan meals are great options that contain the fiber that juices don’t have. We believe in whole foods and the fiber, an essential component of a healthy diet, which comes along with them. As with anything, however, if juicing makes you feel good then we support your juicing diet. Many people notice brighter skin, higher energy levels, and better organ function.

Rather than emptying your wallet at a juice place every time you want a juice, we advise buying your ingredients in bulk at the grocery store to make your juices at home. Use the following juice recipes to help to fuel a healthier lifestyle. For all of the recipes, process the ingredients through a juicer and drink within 15 minutes of juicing.

Drink Your Greens

• 2 cups spinach
• 3 celery stalks
• 1 medium cucumber
• ½ of a lemon
• 1 medium apple
• 1 inch piece of ginger, peeled
• ¼ cup of parsley

Ginger Zinger Juice

• 2 medium apples
• 5 carrots
• ½ inch piece of ginger
• ¼ lemon, peeled

Antioxidant Boost

• 2 medium beets, cut into quarters (use the greens too!)
• 1 cup blueberries
• 1 cup strawberries, halved (don’t cut the tops of!)

Kale Kickstarter

• 1 orange, peeled and quartered
• 2 kale leaves
• 1 cup strawberries, halved
• 1 ripe banana
• 3 carrots

Sweet Carrot Juice

• 5 carrots
• 1 medium apple
• ¼ cup parsley (optional)

Vision Boosting Juice

• 4 large carrots
• 1 inch piece of ginger, peeled
• 2 navel oranges, peeled and quartered
• ½ inch piece of turmeric (optional)

Immune Boosting Juice

• 2 oranges, peeled and quartered
• 1 medium apple
• ½ inch piece ginger, peeled
• ¼ lemon, peeled

The Detoxifier

• 2 medium beets, peeled and cubed
• 3 medium carrots
• 1 medium apple
• ½ lemon, peeled
• 1 inch piece of ginger, peeled
