What Is Meat?

0-567719400-whatmeat1

Meat is considered animal flesh that is eaten for food. Meat is mainly muscle tissue from an animal. These muscles are made of bundles of cells called fibers.

The most popular types of meat include chicken, beef, turkey, lamb, veal, fish, shrimp, lobster and crab.

Animal Meat

To know what meat is, always ask yourself the following questions:

  • Does it have a face and a tail?
  • Was it born or did it hatch from an egg?
  • Does it grow up from out of the Earth from a seed?

If what you’re eating was born from the womb of a female creature or hatched out of an egg, it’s meat. If what you’re eating is not the result of a seed that sprouted up from out of the ground, it’s not meat.

There are many people who claim to be vegetarian but still eat chicken, turkey, fish or seafood.

Health Risks

The U.S. Department of Agriculture lists lean meat as a healthy component of a balanced diet. However, the consumption of meat promotes a known health risks.

There are other food options available at the grocery store. Our diets no longer need to be centered around meat. Instead, we can eat more fruits, vegetables, nuts and grains.

Many people consider meat to be a healthy component of a balanced diet. However, meat contains a high amount of calories when compared to fibrous vegetables such as broccoli or green beans.

Those who eat large quantities of meat tend to be obese. There is also a greater risk of diabetes and heart disease. Red meat and processed meat are especially dangerous to one’s health. They generally have a higher percentage of fat and calories.

Vegetarian

People may transition to a vegetarian lifestyle for a variety of reasons. A meat-free diet is a more healthy and ethical way to live.

Cruel practices and the environmental issues involved in the meat industry has encouraged many people to remove meat from their diet.

The term “vegetarian” can mean very different things. For example, lacto-ovo vegetarians are those who avoid animal flesh but still eat eggs and milk products. While vegans forego eating and wearing all animal products. Raw foodists are vegans who primarily eat raw fruits, vegetables, legumes, sprouts, and nuts.

True vegetarians eat food that grows from the ground up. These foods include fruit, vegetables, grains, seeds, nuts and legumes. The true meaning of vegetarian has led many people to adopt this term to explain their diet and lifestyle.

Plant Protein Sources

A plant-based diet has been shown to improve serious health conditions. Those who have removed meat from their diets have experienced weight loss and improved overall health.

Unlike animal protein, plant protein is low in fat and high in dietary fiber.

Protein-rich fruit include:

  • Apricots
  • Prunes
  • Cherries
  • Bananas
  • Kiwi
  • Avocado
  • Tomatoes

Protein-rich vegetables include:

  • Spinach
  • Asparagus
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Kale
  • Carrots

Legumes have been found to be the best source of non-animal based protein. Rich in lysine, an essential amino acid, legumes are often mixed with grains.

Protein-rich legumes include:

  • Soybeans
  • Lentils
  • Black beans
  • Green peas
  • Quinoa
  • Alfalfa
  • Clover
  • Carob
  • Brazil nuts
  • Almonds
  • Peanuts

Q: What do you tell someone that believes that eating meat is better than eating products not made of meat such as wheat pasta, brown rice, etc. My wife eats way too much meat, and she always says that she needs it for the protein. She doesn't work out or exercise regularly so I see it as just an excuse to continue the same old behavior. She's 5'6" and 205lbs and I think she should weigh 140 - 145 max. She's 43 years old and suffers from high blood pressure and swelling in the legs.

Q: Hi it's me again. I just read what you said about meat and what I don't understand is if meat was not good for us why in the Bible people eat Lamb. How would you explain back in the Bible times during Abraham and Moses when they use to offer sacrifice and kill a lamb were they cruel and going against God. And those who couldn't afford animals like Lamb would use bird eggs. In the book of Exodus chp. 12: 11,21,27,43,48 and Lev. 23:5 and 12:3, Deut. 16:7and Exodus 34:25 when the death Angel was passing and God told them to kill a Lamb and put the blood on the door post and gave the command for them to roast it. How would you explain that because up until this day the Jews still eat Lamb. Even fish, it was fish that God used to feed the 5000 people. Are you saying I can't eat fish at all. I would like to know some of the things you eat in the place of meat , fish and chicken. I really want to change my eating habit.

    A:

All meat consumption came AFTER the Fall of Man (Genesis Chapter 6). Man can eat meat while in a degenerate state but to return back to Eden he/she must go back to plant foods. Also, meat today is greatly TAINTED unlike meat 4,000 - 6,000 years ago! It's not the same. Jews are not the healthiest people, by the way! Health conscious people are!

Q: I've made a lifestyle change about 8 months ago. I excluded all dairy, wheat, grains, gluten, legumes, sugar, oils (except olive oil). I still eat minimum amount of meat (chicken, fish) maybe 2 -3 times/wk. I'm slowly trying to eliminate meat totally as I only use to make my meals more filling. My plan is to do Ozone Therapy midway through the detox program, which also rid the body of toxins.

    Ozone therapy is beneficial!

Q: Hey wassup Dherbs.com, I got a question about when people try to say they clean the meat with vinegar and citruses before they cook it. What does "cleaning" the meat have to do with the pesticides, worms, and other harmful things added to the meat? I read from your articles that the worms have a shell that forms in very high temperatures so it doesn't kill them.

    A:

You can't clean meat, Beloved. Period! Folks are doing something just to be doing something! All meat is corrupted and toxic! Period!

Q: I am a 55 year old female. I have an overactive bladder. I am trying to control it myself, without medication. I have not tried herbs. I eat fruits, vegetables, grains and proteins (not beef or pork). I added back more meat proteins 1 1/2 years ago because I was becoming so tired and lacking energy. (I read The Schwartzbein Diet, which helped convince me to add more protein.) I don't eat much sugar, salt (only 500 mg./day) or hardly any processed foods. I drink water and licorice tea, because it makes me feel good. I believe in the power of positive thinking. Can you help me with this?

    A:

The steps you are taking in your diet are a great start. Try going raw, and eliminating grains and meat altogether. You can get enough protein and healthy fats with avocado, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, almonds, brazil nuts, coconut. You can also add Vegan Protein Powder to smoothies.

I also recommend you give our Full Body Cleanse a try to further detoxify your entire body. After detoxing, the ideal formula for you is our Kidneys Bladder-Adrenal formula.

My question to you is, for the last 6 months I have not eaten beef, or pork, I have eaten chicken about 5 times, but only white meat(breast, baked). I mostly just eat fish and turkey,(turkey bacon, turkey sausage, and ground turkey). I feel a whole lot better I was wondering if eating the turkey was still causing harm? And by the way I don?t eat any dairy or bread!

    A:

Oh, please read our article " WHAT IS MEAT?" under "Articles" on our site. Your answer lies there in that article. All meat is harmful! But you're off to a great start! Peace!

Q: I am interested in starting the Full Body Detox program. At this time, I would like to know which program is best for me. At current, I have started removing things from my diet as of 2 weeks ago (pork, chicken, red meat, I'm trying with the fish but it's hard!) I am not eating cheese but I still eat yogurt and every now and then I will eat a boiled egg (egg whites). I have removed soda from my diet, no coffee, I drink herbal or green tea, pomegranate juice or orange juice and I drink filtered water (I have a countertop filter that I change every 6 months and the Brita pitcher that I change every 2 months). Along with the supplement, is there an eating plan that you can suggest for me? I am eating more fruits and vegetables, but I would welcome suggestions on certain foods that I can eat while I begin my cleansing.

    A:

The Full Body Detox kit comes with a prescribed dietary plan and notifies a person what they can and cannot eat during the detox.

Doesn't sound like it will mess up your FULL BODY DETOX. Go for it! But leave out the rice/soy cream! The rice milk is okay (but it is processed/cooked)!

Q: I have been diagnosed with neutropenia and been seeing a hematologist for the last 6 years. He wants to avoid doing a bone marrow biopsy on me if he can. I am also anemic and received a iron infusion about a year ago. I go weekly for a CBC count and Monday I was told that my iron count is low again. The lowest my white blood count has been is in the 700's. I am Afro-American and I know that it's common for our white blood count to run low. I rarely eat red meat. I was a vegetarian until I got pregnant with my son he is now 2 1/2 yrs old. I eat red meat about once a month now. Is there anything that I can take to build up my white blood cells count?

A: Check out our Blood & Lymphatic Formula to cleanse your blood, and Vitamin C to build up the white blood cell count.
