7 Jojoba Oil Benefits: Are You Missing Out On the New “It” Oil?

Cute african american woman relaxing in spa slow motion

How happy does it make you when an old favorite finally gets the recognition it deserves? No, we aren’t talking about Leo’s Oscar (well, maybe a little bit) but the “it” oil of the moment. That’s right, jojoba oil is garnering praise in the green beauty world right now.

Jojoba oil is nothing new. It’s been added to products for, well, who even knows how long. The point is, this healthy, good for skin and hair oil is finally getting the credit it’s due.

What’s the big deal with jojoba? Learn about the benefits and uses of this amazing oil, plus some hot product picks.

7 Jojoba Oil Benefits

1. Matches human skin: The main benefit of this liquid wax is its similarity to human sebum. Jojoba (Simmondsia Chinensis) oil is the most closely matched oil to the oils skin produces naturally. This means it absorbs easily into skin and causes less irritation than some other oils, making it highly suitable for sensitive and acne-prone skin types.

2. Long shelf life: Another big bonus to this wax ester obtained from evergreen type shrubs? It is more stable than many plant oils, which gives jojoba-containing products a longer shelf life.

3. Non-greasy: The fact that jojoba is so closely matched to human sebum and easily absorbed by skin means no greasy after feel. Perfect for use on face and body.

4. Long lasting moisture: Non-greasy doesn’t mean jojoba skimps on moisture. This oil provides suppleness to dry skin that goes the distance.

5. Non-comodogenic: Because jojoba doesn’t clog pores, the oil works well in treating acne. It offers light hydration and helps to balance oil.

6. Calms inflammation: If other plant oils have caused irritation or inflammation, jojoba may be the answer. It’s ability to mimic skin’s natural oils means it doesn’t upset skin.

7. Base oil: Jojoba is the ideal base or carrier oil for essential oils. It is often used as a base for natural perfumes and aromatherapy products, and works well for DIY blends.

“The reason [jojoba oil] is so great in skin care is that our own facial oil (sebum) is made up of mono esters and so is jojoba oil, so it’s highly compatible. In my opinion it is an excellent ingredient for natural products as it has a long shelf life, and does not turn rancid or oxidize like many oils,” says Paige Padgett, natural beauty expert.

6 Jojoba Oil Uses

Now that we know why jojoba oil is the It oil of green beauty, you may be wondering how to use it. Oh, let us count the ways.

1. First off, jojoba is a well-rounded moisturizer. Probably not that surprising, huh? How about if I told you it’s not only for face and body, but hair, lips, eyes, and even beards? Good stuff.

2. Going back to how jojoba is so much like our own skin, this makes it suitable for use on delicate areas, like around eyes and on lips. That’s why many eye creams and oils, and lip balms contain this wonderful oil.

3. Jojoba oil also makes a great makeup remover and works well as an oil cleanser, too. Non-irritating, skin calming goodness.

4. We’ve talked scalp oils here before, and jojoba oil is the perfect choice for a good ol’ scalp massage. Warm in hands and massage into scalp, working your way through to ends of hair for a moisture and body booster.

5. As for those beards that are having such a man moment. Wrangle those whiskers into submission and give facial hair a well-groomed look with a bit of jojoba oil.

6. If you feel a little DIY coming on, why not mix up your own scent or aromatherapy blend starting with jojoba oil? Here’s a handy how-to.

Can’t wait to get your hands on a bottle? It is important to choose your jojoba oil wisely for purity and safety. Paige notes, “The more pure the oil is the more golden it is. If it’s clear then it has been processed.” She recommends Aubrey Organics Pure Organic Jojoba Oil and Desert Essence Organic Coconut, Jojoba & Pure Coffee Oil, for skin and hair.

We have a terrific jojoba oil in our sister-site EcoSalon Mind & Body Box by BioFinests that you should not miss. This oil is cold-pressed, steam-distilled, and 100% pure. Perfect for all of the uses above.

Q: I have read that Peppermint, Lavender, Rosemary and Sage essential oils are all good for hair and stimulating hair growth. Would it be more beneficial to use them all at once for maximum result or should I just use the Rosemary and Sage only as you suggested? Also, I didn?t see any Almond oil so I was wondering if I could use Olive oil or Jojoba oil as a carrier oil.

    A:

Yes they are great for stimulating hair growth; however, I would use them together or combined. ANY natural edible oil can be used - it's YOUR choice. Jojoba and/or sesame seed oil are the best oils for the hair.

Q: I am having really bad dry skin problems. My scalp is very dry and I can pull huge chucks of skin out of my hair. My fore head is peeling and around my nose area is peeled off and has left me with red raw skin around my nose. I wanted to know what should I do to help solve my dry skin problem?

    A:

Wewould suggest you perform our Full Body Detox. Also, purchase the Full Body Cleanse Companion booklet and perform some of the soaks mentioned in there. The best soak is to soak in 2-3 boxes of sea salt and 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide for about an hour per day. After getting out of the tub, rub our Oxy-Oil over your entire body to help the skin breathe.

Q: Over the last 2 yrs I've been interested in taking a more holistic approach to my health. I heard a radio ad for the dherbs website in NC where I live. At any rate, after perusing the site, I know there are several products I want to use but I don't want to take a large quantity of supplements at once. I am interested in doing a detox and colon cleanse. I want to improve the health of my eyes. I am very mucus laden and don't want to have an invasive procedure done that ENT/Sinus doctors are suggesting so I would like to do something more natural to clear that head congestion. I also have oily skin and have struggled with acne most of my life and my hair is not manageable so I would like to do something about skin/hair. With the multiple areas that I'm trying to improve, what's the best regime for me without having to take a lot of products together at once?

    A:

Start your healing journey by: 1. Change your diet (Go raw foods/vegan: no meats, no dairy products, etc.) 2. Perform the FULL BODY DETOX 3. After the FBD, take daily EYES FORMULA, MUCUS BUSTER FORMULA and ELECTRIC GREENS CELL FOOD.

Q: I would like to know, if you have any skin care programs, for women age 50 and over. I am going to try the detox progarm as soon as possible. I truly believe that I am going to be very happy with the results. I am 51 years old, and I want to look and feel my best. I have a lot of belly fat, and that makes me feel uncomfortable, because some people will ask me, if I am pregnant. This seems very strange to me, because my stomach seems to be the main place, where all the fat is building up. I desire to have beauty inside and out. I want to be completely whole. If you have tips for skin care and body care, please let me know. Some people say that I look like I am in my forties, however, if I did not have all of this extra body fat, I could really believe what they are saying.

    A:

The blood needs to be cleansed in order to enhance your skin and eliminate excess fat.

We would recommend you perform the Full Body Cleanse which can help improve skin complexion, release weight, and detoxify, purify, rejuvenate, and strengthen the body and all of its eliminative channels.

We also have a Facial Skin Kit that works to naturally restore the health of skin by helping to remove blemishes, hydrate skin, and even out complexion for resilient skin.

Q: When I use the OZ OIL my outer skin is very soft and subtle. However deep down in the skin I feel very itchy. I have been assuming this is the effect of the oil doing its job. After a few weeks I got the feeling that I should try to loofa off the top layers of skin so the under skin could rejuvenate its self. I suppose I am writing because I want to check to make sure that the deep itching truly is a positive healing process before I purchase another bottle. Also to prompt you for any other ideas you might have to help my condition. It is purely beauty based btw I don't have any skin illness.

    A:

The itching is a natural side effect that a healing crisis is taking place. Keep using the Oxy Oil at your discretion.

Q: I think this way is easier and faster to have your response. I currently have many skin problems. I first started having body rash and eczema around my lips. When the skin gets dry, it hurts, and I've been trying to moisturize the skin with using all natural Burt's Bees andor Hugo natural lotion, cream or oil. I tried sea salt soak and been taking Sen-Fen, Blood formula, Immune support, Anti-Viral, but it's not working and the symptoms haven't gotten better at all. My entire body is really itchy from rash, so I haven't been able to sleep well for the past 2-3 weeks. If you have any suggestions for life style, special drinks and foods or products I can use, please let me know asap.

    A:

Greetings! You skin problems are explained in the article "SKIN DISORDER = BLOOD DISORDER" which I suggest you read. (visit articles section). When there's no physical healing, check the mind. Check out the NEW MENTAL SCIENCE MANUAL and there is a chapter in there on using the mind to heal. Basically you are focusing too much on the problem and not the solution which is optimal health and well-being. You are telling yourself how you don't want these problems and by saying this subconsciously, you are keeping the problems. Have your permanently switched or changed your diet? If not, what are you waiting for? Your blood is begging to be purified. Herbs alone won't get the job done. Let go of worrying about the problem. Focus on enjoying life, getting back in balance and you will begin to heal!

Q: My daughter has eczema that NEVER goes away. I need to do a blood cleanse and cannot find any suitable for her age group. I saw your children?s full body cleanse. Does this include the blood cleanse? Would this be sufficed? I also was wondering if you could recommend anything I can use topically to stop her itching? I am currently using oil of oregano mixed with EVOO at night for the bacteria and a mixture of oils to try to hydrate her skin during the day. I have tried everything and NOTHING works except steroid creams which I do not want to use. Please let me know your recommendations.

    A:

My son had a very bad case of eczema (scratched so much he bled). He was cured/healed in 6 months. Purchase the Children's Detox and give him the liquids in water or apple juice. For external application, purchase Oz Oil (this is what helped to heal my son's skin inflammation) and rub this on her body a few times during the day. Bathe the child in warm water and sea salt (start of with one box). You can also bathe the child in herbs. Boil some Dherbs Detox Tea (2-4 bags) in a big pot. Let it cool down and pour the contents of the pot into the bath water. Let the child soak in this for about 30 minutes. Your child can heal! I saw a miracle performed with my son so I know eczema like all other diseases can be healed!

Q: I would like to know if that was you on the Al Sharpton show, Monday morning. The show is called “keeping it realâ€. My second question is, do you have any products that would help melasma. So many black women and men suffer with this [facial] hyperpigmentation. The only product that I know that really helps is hydroquinone that many women use today to lighten [bleach] their skin tones. I do not want to use it for that purpose; I have a beautiful skin tone. I just need to lighten the pigmentation that has changed my complexion. The darken colorations make me look older than what I am. I see a lot us blacks with this problem. It is unfortunate that the only product that seems to alleviate the problem is not safe. By the way, I do use sunscreen, only on my face; I allow the rest of my skin to get some sun for its great vitamin D benefits. Thanks

Q: I would like to know if what I'm doing is okay. This is way before we found dherbs site and the products on the internet. We read on the internet that drinking a teaspoon of natural black sea salt or any sea salt in 32oz warm water every morning is good for bowel movement. We have been doing it for awhile now. Is it too much to take it with your products? I lost some weight after my FULL BODY DETOX but not too much on my stomach. What do you recommend l should use to get rid of the tummy area? I bought FIBROID BUSTER TEA I am I drinking it because l feel there is Fibroids down there. Should l also continue taking my BUNNY RABBIT formula with Fibroid tea? In my last email l mentioned my husband had mild stroke. Now he's having spasms all over his body especially when he's sleeping at night. Why is he having it and what else can he use for that? We are using all these wonderful products on the inside and still have un-even skin. Is it okay to use AMBI products for more youthful skin then detox every four months? If not, when are we going to see your skin products on the market?

    A:

We don't recommend the drinking of sea salt. For tummy reduction: exercise (perform abs, sit ups) and take BOWEL MOVER and WEIGHT RELEASE FORMULA. You can take your herbs and tea together. No big deal! Spasms? Clearly the â€HEALING CRISIS†(read the article by this same title). The skin will improve in time. Don't focus on it!

Q: I need something to make my hair grow and to the dark circle around my eyes and to clean skin without changing the color of my skin.

    A:

I suggest you first cleanse your body with the Full Body Detox. After performing the FBD, perform the Total Woman Cleanse. After these 2 cleanses, I recommend you take HAIR-SKIN-NAILS, MSM SULPHUR, ELECTRIC GREENS CELL FOOD, and VITAMIN C formula.

    Your hair can grow, Beloved!

Dark circles around the eye denote kidney problems (excess fluid buildup) and/or perhaps lack of proper rest/sleep time. You can heal from this too.
