Decadent Chocolate Fondue

I’ll never forget my first Valentine’s Day after giving up dairy and switching to a more plant-based diet. My husband (then boyfriend) walked in the house with a beautiful flower bouquet and a pound of assorted milk chocolates. I smiled, and he offered me a chocolate, to which I replied “Um, no thank you.” For a second, he looked at me strangely, and then, like a lightbulb went off, he said, “Ohhhhhh. I forgot. Sorry about that.” He then proceeded to attempt to finish the whole pound himself.

The following Valentine’s Day went much smoother. I said I’d provide the chocolate, and whipped up a delicious and creamy chocolate fondue. Plated with assorted fruits, it became an interactive dessert, and we both agreed that vegan chocolate fondue would stay on the Valentine’s Day menu for years to come.

Vegan Chocolate Fondue

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup almond milk (or your favorite nondairy milk)
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 12 ounces vegan chocolate chips

Directions

In a small pan over low heat, combine all ingredients.

Stir often until chocolate chips just start to melt.

Remove pan from heat, and continue to stir until all chocolate is melted and mixture is combined thoroughly.

Pour into a fondue pot or small bowl.

Serve with your favorite fruits (strawberries, grapes, pineapple, banana, etc) and any other bite-sized desserts for dipping!

Q: My grandson is said to have ADDHD. The Psychologist had given my daughter a prescription for Vyvanse. We read the possible side effects and we decided it's not worth the risk to his health and wellbeing. What else can be done beside medication. My daughter is a vegetarian and has been to an allergist who tested him and found he is allergic to many foods such as milk, chocolate, grapes, apples, raspberries, some food dies, and many more things. How does she put it all together?

    A:

The most important thing Linda is to read our "ATTENTION-DEFICIT DISORDER" article on our site. I think it will give you an added perspective on this fake disease to medicate light children being born on the planet to help raise the vibration. I don't look at ADD as a disease and thus it doesn't need to be treated. Parents don't need to give these children anything, but just stop giving things such as junk foods (sugar), drugs, soda pop, meat, dairy products, etc. In other words, detox them. Consider the CHILDREN DETOX (liquid extracts) , at least for starters.

Q: I tried Sugar Buster recently, did not have the effect I (thought). Should I continue to use, or is there another product I should consider? My reason for asking is I am about to start a (fat) loss program and I recognize that sweets/chocolate is my problem. Not necessarily food in an of itself. Please explain how you were taking SUGAR BUSTER.

    A:

Ideally, 3 capsules should be taken in the morning on an empty stomach. When cravings are strong, and addition 3 capsules should be taken in the course of the day, or after you have eaten something sweet.

Q: I've come to your website many times in the past few days and I would like to start ordering some products to begin detoxing my body and to rid my system of the herpes simplex virus and any other std that may be lingering within. I was diagnosed with this virus on 12/5, but since then I have been given amoxicillin by the doctor. After doing some research, I bought some Olive Leaf Extract, L-Lysine and Echinacea with goldenseal. I feel a lot better, especially since I began to stop eating certain foods, like cheese, pork, peanuts and chocolate. I've also been maintaining a positive attitude and believing that I will be free of this virus. I am extremely interested in starting a cleansing ritual beginning at the end of the month, but at current, I would just like to begin with a supplement you would recommend to cleanse my blood, my genital and vaginal area. Your recommendations will be deeply appreciated.

    A:

If I had to recommend one product before your Anti-Viral Kit for you, it would be Dherbs STD-RID formula.

Q: I heard about your website on the Warren Valentine show on radio. I've just broken out with blisters on my third, and fourth toe on my left foot, and my left foot is full of fever and resembles redness in color, plus my foot is swollen. A doctor told me that I am a borderline diabetic, however, my family history doesn't support that argument. I am in need of some serious help. I am having trouble putting weight on my left foot. Could you all help stir me in direction for some relief for my left foot?

    A:

Please follow the advice in the Toenail Fungus article, soak the feet as the article advises. Your body is asking to be detoxed. Skin problems point to blood problems. Read the article "Skin Disorder = Blood Disorder as well Beloved! I recommend the Full Body Detox, and Healing Foot Oil.

Q: Members of my house have started drinking Hemp Milk and Rice Milk. No more Cow Milk! We like the taste of both. I also like the fact that the hemp milk has omega and other nutrients in it. However, my son is three years old and we have discovered he is allergic to nuts because a family member gave him a cashew to eat, then his eyes began to swell up like Garfield the cat. I had him tested for food allergies and the test revealed he is allergic to nuts and soy. So I don't give him any nut products or soy products. My question for you is: "Is hemp a nut or a seed, is the hemp milk derived from a nut or a seed???" I need to know other alternatives if in fact it is a nut. I do not want to give him something toxic to him.

    A:

Hemp is a seed, not a nut, so hemp seed milk is okay for him.

    Nuts cashews - peanuts, soy

    Grains - rice, oats

Fruit - almond, coconut, banana, date

Hey, I'll do an article that will be up on Dherbs early next week!

    Peace and Love!

I know they are diet fruits, thats why I stay away from them for a while. I even fast for a while. I just don't know how my skin can getter better.

Q: I see also that you recommend a complete diet with these programs. I am guessing its a vegan diet right? I wanted to ask something on that is coconut milk and coconut oils ok for that? I personally had a very hard time trying to eat that many vegetables and many ph balance vegans seem to think fruits aren?t good either. I eat that many vegetables one it tears me up the next day and two I just cant consume enough calories that way. I can try and make up for it by eating things like almonds but I eat to many almonds I get the same problem the next day. Now coconut milk (unsweetened) and a digestive enzyme works for me for picking up extra calories.... but I hear very conflicting information about coconut and its saturated fat content. Is it ok to use daily as a part of the diet for cleansing? And your oxy-drops are those the same as the drop for ph balancing water?? Or is it something different? I am wanting to start lifting weights as I need to put on some muscle and I?m wondering if its something that would be beneficial in combating muscle soreness by increased oxygen in the body.

    A:

The diet we recommend is vegan-based, and RAW FOODS. Fresh fruits, vegetables, raw nuts and seeds are ideal.

Coconut Milk and Coconut Oil are excellent products to have in your diet. The healthy fats will keep you fuller.

Oxy-Drops can help balance your electrolytes that need to be replenished after a workout in order to keep your body performing efficiently.

Q: I was looking at your recipies for infant milk. I am breastfeeding but need to wean. I was interested in giving him rice milk (Rice Dream enriched with vit a, c,and other vitamins). However, the website says not for use as infant formula. Why would this not be a good substitute? What would this be lacking? Why is your recipie a complete formula for proper infant nutrition? Please Help a concerned new mom!

    A:

Rice Dream is fortified with SYNTHETIC nutrients (vitamins and minerals) and therefore it's not a good source of organic nutrition. If you use Rice Dream, please fortify it with organic nutrition like Dherbs.com Moringa Seed Extract and Iodine Phosphate Extract (add 5 dropperfuls of each formula to infant milk).

Q: What's the best way to start on a vegan/raw food diet? I am not sure what to eat to make sure I would get a nutritious diet-you may not be able to go into that much detail but how can I get sample meal plans for breakfast, lunch and dinner incorporating this type of diet-perhaps there is somewhere on the web I find something like this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    A:

If I do say myself, the best way to start a raw food diet is to be coached by me. I run a 6 month health coaching program that is 60-90 percent raw and 100 percent vegan/gluten free/ allergy free. You can find out more about my program at www.theveganeffect.com. I am running a special of half off my program if you sign up before march 1st.

Here are some other tips to get started.

1: Join a raw food meetup group or community. Surround yourself with supportive people who can point you in the right direction. Try meetup.org or 30bananasaday.com

2: Read books like "beauty detox solution" by snyder, "80/10/10" by Dr. Graham., or "The Paradigm diet" by Adam Dave

3: Start simple with breakfast. Always start your day with a green smoothie. read "Green smoothie revolution" by forget authors name at the moment. heh.

A sample meal plan would be.

    Breakfast: Green smoothie

Bridge: raw bar, handful of nuts or seeds, or fruit

Lunch: Raw wraps made from collard greens. use a base of tahini, hummus, or nut butter. Fill with sprouts and colorful veggies

Bridge: raw bar, handful nuts or seeds, or fruit

Dinner: Raw pasta with a large salad

    Snack: Sorbet
