Hearty Kale & Lima Bean Soup

0-103817339-kale-limabeans

Warm up through the cold weather with this hearty and filling soup that’s easy to make and full of nutrients.

Kale is high in fiber, iron, vitamin K, A and C, low in calories and has zero fat. Per calorie it has more iron than beef and more calcium than milk.

Lima beans, also known as butter beans, are rich in protein, fiber, iron and B vitamins. Being a low fat source of protein, they’re a great alternative to meats, and provide you with many essential nutrients.

Ingredients:

  • 6 large leaves kale
  • 3 stalks celery
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 shallot
  • 1 spring onion
  • 2 cups vegetable stock
  • 1 can organic lima (butter) beans (you can use any kind of beans, even lentils)
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. garlic
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp. coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp. thyme leaves

Directions:

Chop the celery, carrot, shallot and spring onion into bite-size pieces.

Add the ingredients into a large pot with the spices and lemon juice (the kale and beans go in last).

Bring to boil for 10 minutes, then turn the heat down to medium and continue to boil for another 10 minutes.

Chop the kale into small pieces.

Rinse the can of beans well with filtered water.

Add the beans and kale, bring to boil.

Turn the heat to low-medium and simmer for 15-20 minutes, depending on how soft you want the vegetables.

Turn the heat off and let sit for 10 minutes and make a meal of it, or serve it up as a side dish.

Q: For the last 2 weeks, I've been eating only raw foods. My daily intake mainly consist of snow beans, green beans (string beans), kale, carrots, a small amount butter and crackers, bananas, apples, pears, lettuce, tomatoes, dates, spinach and filtered water. My question is: Am I getting the required nutrients and how would I know if I were not and specifically, how would I know what nutrient was missing. I also take the MALE HORMONAL FORMULA and JACKRABBIT FORMULA (regardless of whether I intend to engage in sexual activity).

    A:

OF COURSE! WHAT TO KNOW FOR SURE? GO GET A MINERAL TEST DONE. FIND SOMEONE IN YOUR TOWN WHO DOES NUTRITIONAL TESTING OR LIVE BLOOD CELL MICROSCOPY.

Q: Is necessary to continue food combining after completing FULL BODY DETOX in 20 Days? For example can you consume sweet fruit with sub acid & acid fruit also starches and vegetable (beans) proteins together? I learned in Nutrition that starches (rice) and beans are complete protein when combined together that our body needs. Are you at risk for protein deficiency if consuming vegan diet?

    A:

IT'S YOUR CHOICE! OF COURSE IT'S BEST TO CONTINUE TO DO SO. IT'S UP TO YOU, BELOVED! I PERSONALLY DON'T RECOMMEND IT. NOT TRUE! YOU CAN'T GET PROTEIN FROM COOKED FOODS REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE FOOD IS. OF COURSE NOT, UNLESS YOU ARE IGNORANT TO PROTEIN, REAL PROTEIN, HOW AND WHERE TO GET IT.

Q: What organic shampoo and conditioner would you recommend using? Also, while detoxing, is Navy beans an acceptable food to eat if I want something cooked or does it cause mucus? Is it really a nutritional bean?

    A:

Aubrey Organic is a good brand of shampoo and conditioner.

You may eat navy beans but they are mucus forming despite a few nutritional benefits.

Q: I am currently on the Full Body Detox. It's my 4th or 5th time & I love the results each time. My question is: I was told that it is okay to eat black beans while on the Full Body Detox, but only black beans. Although I love black beans, & would love to be able to eat them while detoxing, I wouldn't want to interfere with the detox or defeat the purpose. I look forward to you response. It sounds too good to be true...but if it is, why only black beans?

    A:

You are misinformed on the black beans or any beans for that matter, Beloved. Beans should be avoided during the Full Body Detox unless eaten SPROUTED. Sprouted beans are the only exception because they are not cooked!

Q: I just began the cleanse. My concern is that I am not getting enough protein. I have been eating nuts, and I will not eat uncooked beans or peas. What can I do to get more protein while I am on this 20 day regiment?

A: Great question. There is protein in a lot of the vegetables that we eat. Think about it like this, elephants are vegetarians, and they are some of the biggest/strongest animals around. Eat plenty of leafy green vegetables (kale, spinach, etc.), goji berries, nuts, broccoli, avocados, beets, cauliflower, and asparagus.

Q: Thank you for the great advice! :) Our baby has had baby eczema since infancy; however it looks as though it is now getting worse. She has always been and continues to be breastfed; we have supplemented with formula and Gerber baby products once she was ready for solids. She is now eating foods such as oatmeal, whole milk (sometimes we tradeoff between that and baby formula), various fruits and vegetables, meats such as chicken, turkey and beef, pasta, bread, beans, rice, etc. She seems to be more interested in eating carbohydrates than anything else. Also, another question we have is pertaining to my wife's acne and melasma problem which she has had for several years since adolescence (acne) and since she started using contraceptives (melasma). She also has a few crow's feet around her eyes which she would like to get rid of. Do you have any advice and or recommendations for treating these problems? Once again, thank you for the advice and we greatly appreciate your help/suggestions.

    A:

The baby's diet is unfortunately conducive to eczema. It is greatly acid-forming and needs to be changed immediately. For your wife, have her begin her healing journey by performing the FULL BODY DETOX.

Q: Thank you for always answering my questions. I have about two more. Okay, I'm currently living overseas where I'm limited on raw fresh foods (vegetables and fruits). I want to do the detox but I'm concerned that I won't have everything as far as raw food to be successful. I have access to basics (apples, oranges, bananas, tomatoes, avocados, melons, lettuce, cabbage, bean spouts, carrots, celery, peppers, green beans, peas, bagged nuts,) but nothing exotic by any means. Then I was told to safely eat some of the food in the local economy that we should wash it with a 5% bleach solution (is that safe...and if on the detox I'm thinking that would be a no go). Two questions?Given the mentioned availability of raw foods could I be able to successfully complete the detox (I don't have an issue with eating the same things over and over again) and two what can I do to clean local produce so that its safe for consumption? Apparently part of the issue is that they use human feces to fertilize. Thank you for your time and I look forward to your response

    A:

Yes, it seems you have enough raw food available to you to complete the cleanse.

In order to clean local produce, rinse thoroughly with apple cider vinegar to "disinfect" it. If apple cider vinegar is unavailable, just use water.

    Q:

    A:

Hi, and thanks for the question.

Canned fruit is pasteurized which is a heat process that renders the food
not raw. Beans are cooked before they are canned and are not raw either.
Most canned food has added preservatives and salt. Best to avoid on a
cleanse. Look for pre sprouted beans and legumes at your local health food
store instead. Dried fruit is better than canned fruit just make sure they do not have added sugars or sulfured.

    Hope that answers your questions.

Q: I would like to know if it's ok to take a Multi-vitamin pill? I am only asking because it has iron in it. I have heard it's not good to take iron, because your body already has iron. Can I take a Multi-vitamin pill without iron, or just take a small dosage, or one pill of a Multi-vitamin supplement with iron?

    A:

I'd recommend to stay away from iron supplements on the market. Only take organic iron supplements (herbal-based) e.g. Dherbs.com Iron Phosphate Formula. Our Electric Greens Cell Food would supply both minerals and iron.

Q: I have been on your PANCREAS CLEANSE AND REGIMEN for 14 days. I am a type 1 diabetic. In the morning my blood sugar is high-about 150, however, after taking the herbs it stabilizes it and my blood sugar is normal. Is there anything additional I can take in the evening besides the green beans, cabbage and Brussels sprout juice to stabilize it?

    A:

Try SUGAR BUSTER TEA! Drink as many cups as you deem necessary!

Q: I have the alternative diet and lifestyle manual and want to make sure that this applies to the respiratory condition as well. Can I have the rice bread with no gluten or wheat? or rice pasta being that I have sarcoid? Can I eat cold water fish or venison in small portions along with veggies? What about rice or soy milk or protein whey shake for breakfast once or twice a week? Thank you once again my breathing has improved greatly and I have ordered many more supplies to maintain what I have accomplished thus far due to your regimen. I am not a vegetarian so I want to make sure it is okay to have white meats. I will do whatever I have to do to live. I love and appreciate everything you have done to change and help me to heal myself.

    A:

The manual applies when you are FINISHED with a cleanse or kit. Follow the regimen's diet. It clearly states NO COOKED FOOD. You are asking us about cooked food here. Stick to the diet plan and you will be alright! You are asking about foods no good for your condition. Whey is crap. Meat is no good. Grains are no good for you as well. They all produce too much mucus!

Q: I'm doing the Full Body Cleanse and I have a few questions about it: I get tired of drinking just the distilled water and I'd like to drink the herbal teas, but I don't like it by itself. Would it mess things up to add a pack or two of Splenda to my tea or maybe honey? I can't stand the salads with the olive oil or apple cider vinegar or the lemon juice as dressing and it makes me gag. I have To have some sort of salad dressing. What kind would be suitable? Do I look for sugar-free? Or organic and natural? I found one that is organic and natural, but it has 3 grams of sugar in it. Without eating all my whole grained breads and other fiber, I haven't had much of a bowel movement in 3 days, should I wait a while yet? (I had surgery on my bowels and always had to take fiber tablets and eat lots of grains to get my bowels to move.) I haven't done the enemas yet, (low on money) should I try that? Or should I resume my fiber tablets I normally take? Any type of fiber I could add to my fruit smoothies in the morning? I want to also do the female cleanse. Is it ok to do that immediately after I finish the full body cleanse or should I wait for a little while? Thank you for all your help, I feel much better than I did before and I just started this detox a week ago, lost 10 pounds, too, woohoooooo! Thank you

    A:

    1. Instead of splenda, use agave, stevia, or grade b maple syrup as a sweetener.

    2. In re Salad Dressing, an organic and natural one is great. You can also check our website for salad dressing recipes.

    3. The fiber pills are not part of the cleanse, so we wouldn't advise those. Fruit is you best choice of fiber so look into eating more papaya, mango, figs, etc. And yes, colonics (and enemas) would greatly help you - undoubtedly!

    4. You can do the Female Cleanse right after you finish detoxing. There's no need to wait!

Q: Please reply to this (I will not buy from you unless you reply to my email; I want to check some things with you before I buy): 1- Please tell me if the following products in your website can be taken by pregnant women: folic acid, iron phosphate, bioflavonoid formula, iodine phosphate, multi vitamins and minerals, vitamin c formula, b-vitamin complex, iron phosphate tea? 2- I want to buy all the nutrients (vitamins, minerals, etc.) that I need for my baby (I'm 3 months pregnant). If I buy the multi vitamins and minerals, do I need to supplement any additional products that I mentioned above (esp. folic acid, vitamin c, iron, b-vitamin complex)? 3- I also want to buy Eklampein formula, prenatal laxative, prenatal formula, healthy pregnancy, and prenatal tea. Since I can't buy all the products that I mentioned in this email; I need your help to buy less. Because the ones that I will buy; I will buy enough to last me about 5/6 months (so I will still be buying so many from you even if I buy 3 or 4 different products). I don't have enough money; please work with me and tell me which ones I need for complete prenatal care and since I will be buying too many; please give me discount (so I can afford it and take good care of myself and my baby in the same time).

    A:

Folic acid, iron phosphate, bioflavonoid formula, iodine phosphate, multi vitamins and minerals, vitamin c formula, b-vitamin complex, iron phosphate tea can all be taken by a pregnant woman. You could delete bioflavonoid and B-vitamin complex though and still get necessary nutrition for your pregnancy. And yes, Dherbs.Com will give you a nice discount on a large order. Now here's what I would personally suggest for a great pre-natal regimen: PRE-NATAL FORMULA ELECTRIC GREENS CELL FOOD VITAMIN C FORMULA IODINE PHOSPHATE FOLIC ACID IRON PHOSPHATE FORMULA PRE-NATAL TEA PRENATAL LAXATIVE (optional)

Q: Hello, this is my 2nd time doing the full body cleanse. I did it last year so now I'm doing it again. I started on Monday 3/9 and since have lost 5 lbs. Is that normal? Also why do you recommend Distilled water and not Spring and/or filtered (Brita). I have always drank a lot of water but roughly how many times a day should I urinate and how many times a day should I make a BM? When I did it the first time last year it was late Spring early Summer and incorporated a lot of walking which helped out a lot. This time not so much due to the horrible NY weather. I would appreciate you answering my questions and getting back to me at your earliest convenience. Thanks

A: Everyone's body is different and responds to the regimen differently. Losing 5 pounds in days is okay. Distilled water is the best type of water that helps to detox the body. You should be drinking half your body weight in water. Anything you put into your body you can expect it to come out. Bowel movements and urination is directly related to the foods and beverages you're consuming. Be sure that you're consuming three regular meals a day; eating fruits and vegetables with fiber.

Q: Is sea salt and warm water a good natural laxative? If so how often do you recommend the use of sea salt for elimination? I was reading The Master Cleanser by Stanley Burroughs and it gives this recommendation, along with drinking lemon water mixed with organic syrup and cayenne pepper. Is it safe to give myself an enema 2xs per day using a hot water bottle filled with fresh squeezed organic lemon and distilled water? Asking this because Bzod had me to listen to 88.3 today here in Cincinnati and the guy (Mike) was telling how he does this regularly and has great results.

    A:

Yes, sea salt in water is a mild laxative!

You can do it as often as you FEEL the need to drink or take it.

You can also consume the Master Cleanse (cayenne, maple syrup, lemon juice) if you choose. You can drink this as much as you like depending on how you feel.

And yes, you can perform enemas 2X a day! Enemas are very helpful for health!

Q: I have a 7 month old baby girl name Neffera. I breast fed her for about 4 1/2 months. I have been giving her soy infant formula and really do not feel right about it. I also have been giving her the Gerber organic green beans, peas, applesauce, ect. She has a lot of congestion and mucus like I have never seen before ever in a baby. I am not sure what has caused all of this mucus, but I want to strengthen her immune system and feed her better. What do you suggest?

    A:

Wow, Beloved! I'll tell you what caused all that mucus: the soy-based infant formula which is crap!!!! Plus, those baby foods. Gerber's is CRAP!!!!! You must undo the damage you unintentionally done via ignorance. Please read our article on "ALTERNATIVE INFANT FORMULA MILK" and learn to make alternative formulas for your baby. You must also start making your own baby food. You must do these things to reverse the serious harm you've done to your baby. All wrong can be righted by doing the right thing. I would highly, highly, highly recommend you schedule a 1-hour health consultation (only $100) a.s.a.p. There's just so much that needs to be explained to you so that child can make a speedy recovery. Time here won't allow it, so a consultation is best!

Q: I just ordered the FULL BODY DETOX and I know there's a dietary regimen that I will have to follow. I was wondering if you would approve of a protein shake that consist of (raw hemp protein powder, raw almond butter, sea salt, flax seed, 100% young coconut water & meat inside the coconut, raw carob powder,) (optional soy or rice milk or soy or rice cream)

    A:

Doesn't sound like it will mess up your FULL BODY DETOX. Go for it! But leave out the rice/soy cream! The rice milk is okay (but it is processed/cooked)!

Q: Thanks once again for your prompt response. Also, what about the iron extract? When I read your article on sickle cell, I ask the "doctor" some questions regarding iron and to my amazement, she could not answer properly and tried to make me think I was crazy and uninformed. But it backfired on her due to your educational articles. I LOVE YOU!! KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING. EDUCATING THE WORLD!!!!! Peace & love for sure!!

    A:

The Iron Extract is good too, Beloved! Herbs are noble and will help your child - guaranteed! And THANK YOU so much for showing so much love! I love you too, Beloved, and am thankful for your support and patronage of Dherbs.Com! God bless you, Beloved!
