Slow Cooker Stuffed Apples with Figs

I can’t get enough of apples this time of year. One of my favorite desserts is dutch apple pie, however, I reserve all of that latticed dough for Thanksgiving. Until then, slow cooker stuffed apples with figs, pecans, cinnamon, lemon, orange zest, and maple sugar are a beautiful and delicious treat, don’t you agree? If you are craving apple pie, you must give this recipe a try! These are drool-worthy!

SLOW COOKER STUFFED APPLES WITH FIGS [VEGAN, GLUTEN-FREE]

INGREDIENTS

  • 5 apples with the center core hollowed out
  • *Whatever your favorite baking apples are will work, I used Granny Smith apples
Stuffing:
  • 5 dried figs (about a 1/4 cup)
  • 1/3 cup of maple sugar or coconut sugar
  • 1 tsp chopped crystallized dried ginger (crystallize your own with coconut sugar in the dehydrator! yum!) or 1/2 tsp fresh
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1/2 tsp orange zest (or another tsp lemon zest)
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
water bath:
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • *Whatever is left from the lemon, squeeze on top of the apples

PREPARATION

  1. Mix the stuffing ingredients together
  2. Remove the center of each apple
  3. Stuff the apples with stuffing
  4. Squeeze the rest of the lemon on top of the apples
  5. Put the water in the slow cooker (if a little gets on the apples, that’s alright)
  6. Put the apples in a slow cooker for 1.5 hours on high
  7. I tried to stop eating after 2 apples…Good luck!

    Q: I am on my 3rd day of the fully body cleansing. I am definitely doing this to lose weight. I am a 52 year old, black, Christian, wife, mother to 21 and 14 year old girls, legal secretary who is 450 lbs. I am to the point now where if I don't do this I'm going to be housebound. Anyway, I was reading about how much calories are in nuts. Should I not pay attention to that because I was consuming a lot of calories in the first place or do I have to watch how many nuts I eat? I have put some nuts in a sandwich bags and basically filled it up and that is supposed to be my nuts ration for the day. I am also eating fruits and vegetables. So far the fruit have been grapes, grapefruit, red apples, pears, green apples and bananas. The vegetables have all been in a salad: tomatoes, celery spinach leaves, carrots, mixed in balsamic vinaigrette. I only ate the salad Monday night all the other times I have just eaten the fruit and nuts. I am also consuming approximately 75-100 oz of water. Sorry I’m long winded I just wanted you to get the entire picture.

    Nuts are best kept to a minimum if you use them at all. Nuts are extremely high in fat and have the opposite omega 3- omega 6 ratio that is optimal for health. Seeds are best as far as ratios are concerned. Also nuts are truly easy to over eat and cause your nutrient ratios to be off.

     

    A healthy vegan diet is a high raw fruitarian diet. 

    Example:

    Breakfast: green smoothie. (500-1000 calories of fruits blended with a handful of greens and water)

    Bridge: Dates and strawberries (500 calories) 

    Lunch: Salad with low sugar fruits (cucumber, tomato, squash, bell peppers) topped with fruit, beans, psuedo grains, 

    Bridge: 2-3 apples

    Dinner: Raw wraps (collard greens) with low sugar fruit and tahini

    Snack: Sorbet

    Q: I'm doing the Full Body Cleanse and I have a few questions about it: I get tired of drinking just the distilled water and I'd like to drink the herbal teas, but I don't like it by itself. Would it mess things up to add a pack or two of Splenda to my tea or maybe honey? I can't stand the salads with the olive oil or apple cider vinegar or the lemon juice as dressing and it makes me gag. I have To have some sort of salad dressing. What kind would be suitable? Do I look for sugar-free? Or organic and natural? I found one that is organic and natural, but it has 3 grams of sugar in it. Without eating all my whole grained breads and other fiber, I haven't had much of a bowel movement in 3 days, should I wait a while yet? (I had surgery on my bowels and always had to take fiber tablets and eat lots of grains to get my bowels to move.) I haven't done the enemas yet, (low on money) should I try that? Or should I resume my fiber tablets I normally take? Any type of fiber I could add to my fruit smoothies in the morning? I want to also do the female cleanse. Is it ok to do that immediately after I finish the full body cleanse or should I wait for a little while?     1. Instead of splenda, use agave, stevia, or grade b maple syrup as a sweetener.

    2. In re Salad Dressing, an organic and natural one is great. You can also check our website for salad dressing recipes.

    3. The fiber pills are not part of the cleanse, so we wouldn't advise those. Fruit is you best choice of fiber so look into eating more papaya, mango, figs, etc. And yes, colonics (and enemas) would greatly help you - undoubtedly!

    4. You can do the Female Cleanse right after you finish detoxing. There's no need to wait!

    Q: I just got your Pancreas Kit and ready to start 3 weeks Regimen. I have couple questions about diet: 1. Fruits - can I eat only those you've listed, or any other allowed? I am a Type 2 diabetic, and any melons or bananas raise my blood sugar. What about green apples, strawberries and raspberries?

    DHERBS: Eat your favorite fruit while monitoring your blood sugar level. It may take some time before your blood sugar levels are regulated and you can return to eating fruit. But try eating what fruits you like while monitoring your BS levels. Be intelligent and use common sense and trust your intuition here.

    2. Can I have whole wheat bread?

    DHERBS: NO!

    3. Can I have eggs, or you consider them dairy?

    DHERBS: NO! Eggs come from animal!

    4. What do you mean by cruciferous salad? Can I add tomatoes, celery, onions, etc.? Any limitations for vegetables?

    DHERBS: Cruciferous means leafy i.e. leafy vegetables (Romain lettuce, Green lettuce). Yes, you can add other vegetables you like and desire.

    5. You've mentioned trail mix, are dried fruits allowed?

    6. How can I replace vegetable juices? Eat more cabbage and brussel sprouts? Are beans allowed in this diet?

    Q: Is sea salt and warm water a good natural laxative? If so how often do you recommend the use of sea salt for elimination? I was reading The Master Cleanser by Stanley Burroughs and it gives this recommendation, along with drinking lemon water mixed with organic syrup and cayenne pepper. Is it safe to give myself an enema 2xs per day using a hot water bottle filled with fresh squeezed organic lemon and distilled water? Asking this because Bzod had me to listen to 88.3 today here in Cincinnati and the guy (Mike) was telling how he does this regularly and has great results.

    Yes, sea salt in water is a mild laxative!

    You can do it as often as you FEEL the need to drink or take it. 

    You can also consume the Master Cleanse (cayenne, maple syrup, lemon juice) if you choose. You can drink this as much as you like depending on how you feel.

    And yes, you can perform enemas 2X a day! Enemas are very helpful for health!

    Q: I'm currently on day 3 of the FULL BODY DETOX and would like to know what exactly I can eat. I've only had water, tea, and oranges for breakfast, salads for lunch and dinner with a few cashew nuts in between. I would like to know exactly what you mean by combining foods together. Example, oranges and apples, are you saying they're not to be eaten together? If not, why?

    The ALTERNATIVE DIET AND LIFESTYLES MANUAL list great food alternatives during the detox. Food combining means do not eat foods not in the same category. Don't mix an acid fruit with a melon fruit. Don't mix fruit with vegetables. Don't mix acid fruit with sweet fruit, etc. Eat sweet fruit with other sweet fruit. Eat sub-acid fruit with sub-acid fruit. You wouldn't eat an orange (acid fruit) with an apple (sub-acid fruit). They are not in the same family.

    Q: I am currently living in Atlanta GA, moved here from New York. I've never suffered from pollen, or being allergic to raw fruits peach, apples or plums. I can't eat raw carrots and other types of nuts until I moved to GA, and started to suffer from Allergies. Now my question is, is there something from your site or some type of herbal combination that I can take to 1. Stop my allergic reaction during March/April pollen season and two help me to eat the natural fresh fruits I used to enjoy before without having to throw it all up, or being unable to digest it.

    Q: My grandson is said to have ADDHD. The Psychologist had given my daughter a prescription for Vyvanse.     Q: Thank you for always answering my questions. I have about two more. Okay, I'm currently living overseas where I'm limited on raw fresh foods (vegetables and fruits). I want to do the detox but I'm concerned that I won't have everything as far as raw food to be successful. I have access to basics (apples, oranges, bananas, tomatoes, avocados, melons, lettuce, cabbage, bean spouts, carrots, celery, peppers, green beans, peas, bagged nuts,) but nothing exotic by any means. Then I was told to safely eat some of the food in the local economy that we should wash it with a 5% bleach solution (is that safe...and if on the detox I'm thinking that would be a no go). Two questions?Given the mentioned availability of raw foods could I be able to successfully complete the detox (I don't have an issue with eating the same things over and over again) and two what can I do to clean local produce so that its safe for consumption? Apparently part of the issue is that they use human feces to fertilize. Thank you for your time and I look forward to your response

    Yes, it seems you have enough raw food available to you to complete the cleanse.

    In order to clean local produce, rinse thoroughly with apple cider vinegar to "disinfect" it. If apple cider vinegar is unavailable, just use water.

    Q: For the last 2 weeks, I've been eating only raw foods. My daily intake mainly consist of snow beans, green beans (string beans), kale, carrots, a small amount butter and crackers, bananas, apples, pears, lettuce, tomatoes, dates, spinach and filtered water.     Q: The reason I have chronic constipation is not because of diet, I eat very healthy, it is because of pain medication (narcotics), that I have to take to be able to stand the excruciating pain I am suffering from 5 spinal surgeries (I have metal rods in my spine from my shoulder blades to my tailbone). In order to have a regular bowel movement every day I take Glyco Lax (a dr.'s RX) 2x a day, plus what I call my "concoction" : I Tbs raw honey, 2 tsp. apple cider vinegar, 1 tsp. lemon juice, 1/3 cup fresh ground golden flaxseeds,? 1 tsp. Natural Psyllium Husk Fiber, and put all of that in hot purified water and drink it. I also take a stool softener with stimulant. That is a lot of time consuming work for me, but it does work. You offer several products for regularity, but I don't know which one to order. My Dr. says senna is very harsh and addictive, and your products seems to have a lot of senna in them. I was told it is not good for long term use. Please advise.

    Q: I see also that you recommend a complete diet with these programs. I am guessing its a vegan diet right? I wanted to ask something on that is coconut milk and coconut oils ok for that? I personally had a very hard time trying to eat that many vegetables and many ph balance vegans seem to think fruits aren?t good either. I eat that many vegetables one it tears me up the next day and two I just cant consume enough calories that way. I can try and make up for it by eating things like almonds but I eat to many almonds I get the same problem the next day. Now coconut milk (unsweetened) and a digestive enzyme works for me for picking up extra calories.... but I hear very conflicting information about coconut and its saturated fat content. Is it ok to use daily as a part of the diet for cleansing? And your oxy-drops are those the same as the drop for ph balancing water?? Or is it something different?     Walnuts are good to eat during the Full Body Cleanse. Distilled water is the best water during the Full Body Cleanse, but your filtered water would also be okay to drink during the cleanse.

    Q: Question, I usually drink distilled water but for the last month or so I?ve been drinking more sparkling water with lemon ["Blu' Italy"] ...it sparkling water good for u or no?

    It's your choice! If it has carbonation in it, I wouldn't drink too much of it. Spring water is best on the market (unless you can find a brand of water that is alkaline and antioxidant). Drinking too much distilled water can leech vital nutrients from the body. Switch up between distilled and spring.

    Q: Since my surgery for fibroids last year my bowel movements is very slow and I am gaining weight around my stomach even my breasts are looking much fuller why are my breasts looking fuller?     Q: I was wondering if it is okay to mix Mrs. Dash season blend with Olive Oil as a dressing for my salad?     Q: I just purchased the Pancreas Kit for children, for my 4 year old who was diagnosed with type one diabetes. I have been feeding her a raw diet of just vegetables. The diet includes no dairy, no grains, and fruit for a week. I also started the Pancreas kit last week too. I was wondering if there is any reason why her blood sugar levels would go up? All she is eating is veggies, and her sugar levels are at 300 most of the time. Even if she doesn't eat anything, it still goes up to 300. I also know it says you cannot tell us not to give, or not to give her insulin, or not. I am still currently giving it to her.     Drugs and herbs don't mix! They cancel each other out. The blood sugar will go up and down due to the body attempting to regulate, and normalize the blood sugar levels. Perfectly normal! It's called "healing crisis. Whatever you guys choose to do, simply keep monitoring the person. Ask the person how he/she feels (very important).
