Why Doctors Need To Talk About Plant-Based Diets

Female doctor sitting at desk with stethoscope and medical form

Despite the fact that 75 percent of today’s doctor office visits are tied to lifestyle risk factors, like diet and exercise, prevention remains a developing field. By stalling, we’re paying the price: lifestyle disease adds up to $1.5 trillion in health care spending each year. And more chillingly, it takes seven out of 10 lives. I’m passionate about helping people prevent and treat disease. This is why I practice preventive medicine, which is often broken into two camps: treatment, which is what we turn to when we recognize a health problem, and prevention, a group of actions we take to reduce the risk of developing a problem in the first place. It’s clear that to make health care work we need to address both the symptoms and root cause of chronic diseases — obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and even certain forms of cancer.

So that I could effectively do so, I earned multiple degrees. I received all of the training I needed to treat my primary care patients from medical school. As for prevention? I studied nutrition and dietetics. We all know that a healthy diet matters. Most of us eat three times a day — or more! What we eat gives us energy and the building blocks to grow and repair our bodies. If we’re missing certain types of building blocks, like amino acids and carbohydrates, our bodies will struggle to function. Our muscles need protein to recover and our brain needs glucose to run at optimal speed.

Similarly, if we get too much of something, like saturated fat, sugar, and cholesterol, our bodies can become overwhelmed. Our blood pressure rises, our metabolism slows down, and our arteries become clogged. Habitually overconsuming low-nutrient foods leads to chronic health problems, which afflict about half of all adults in the United States, or 117 million people. One out of four adults has two or more chronic health conditions, which fuel apharmaceutical industry that brings in $300 billion each year. The good news is that by getting back to the healthy basics — fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes — our bodies create an optimal ratio of macro- and micro-nutrients that enable us to thrive.

Plant-Based Diets Are Our Best Bet

When people shift to a plant-based diet rich in high-fiber foods, they’re simultaneously readying their bodies to combat pathogens and carcinogens, effectively taking a first-line approach to disease prevention. Being naturally low in fat and high in antioxidants and other anti-cancer compounds, plant foods offer the best bang for your buck when you’re looking to gain a health advantage. Fiber, plentiful in plants and entirely absent in animal products, helps move food through your colon quickly and helps eliminate cancer-causing toxins from your body.

Fiber, plentiful in plants and entirely absent in animal products, helps move food through your colon quickly and helps eliminate cancer-causing toxins from your body. Cholesterol is present in animal foods in the opposite pattern: plants have none, while animal products contain alarmingly high amounts. To avoid artery blockages, ideal intake of cholesterol is zero. It comes as no surprise that vegetarians have a significantly reduced risk for cancer and heart disease when compared to meat-eaters. Eating plant-based foods has a measurable, positive impact on our risk for

Eating plant-based foods has a measurable, positive impact on our risk for disease. For example, women who consume three to six milligrams of beta-carotene a day — the equivalent of half a sweet potato or six baby carrots — reduce their risk of breast cancer by about 19 percent, and increasing intake of leafy greens to two servings a day can reduce the early onset of cognitive decline by 11 years. Even small changes make a difference. Lucky for my patients, I hold multiple degrees in nutrition and dietetics, and when it’s appropriate I prescribe dietary interventions based on the latest research. My approach helps my patients lose weight, lower their blood pressure, and stabilize their blood sugar. I have counseled patients on diet and helped them avoid having to take diabetes medications. My approach helps my patients lose weight, lower their blood pressure, and stabilize their blood sugar. I have counseled patients on diet and helped them avoid having to take diabetes medications. This prescription comes with only good side effects and it works. Studies show that doctors who spend an extra 5.5 minutes with at-risk patients to talk about nutrition help them lose five pounds, lower saturated fat intake, and lower LDL cholesterol levels. These seemingly small differences can be enough to eliminate the need for statins, insulin, or beta-blockers.

So Why Aren’t Doctors Talking With Their Patients About Diet?

It’s not the physicians themselves standing in the own way of counseling patients on nutrition. Physicians agree that it is important: 94 percent feel that nutrition should be part of primary care visits, but only 14 percent feel qualified to offer it. Furthermore, very few residents, fellows, and other clinicians are comfortable managing nutrition problems. So what’s happening here? The problem lies with the state of medical education in this country. More than half of medical students feel their nutrition education is inadequate. The National Academy of Sciences recommends that schools include at least 25 hours of nutrition education, but almost three-quarters of schools fail to meet this minimum standard, up from 62 percent in 2004. Even after a minimum of 11 years of total training, most physicians still do not feel competent in providing nutrition advice. My hope is that the medical community will soon unite and create a contemporary prescription — one that’s filled with plant-based foods — to create an over-the-counter solution for America’s most pressing health problems.

Q: For about 2.5 months I have been on the path of taking care of my temple (body). I am more dedicated than I have been in the past. One I was diagnose with so-called diabetes (type II) took the pills (made me sicker than I was) and now my doctor has stressed taking insulin injections. Which I am totally against it. Since I have been taking the Pancreas formula, changed my diet (no meats, juicing, fresh fruits, green veggies (organic))& vigorous exercise (cardio), my A1c has gone from 10.9 to 8.6(should be 6.5) in the span of 2mths. Glucose 137 (should be 70-125) has been high as 238 and higher. However, my doctor insist that my diabetes is not controlled, and will not get better because the pancreas function in type2 diabetics declines as time goes on. Therefore, insulin injection will deter kidney failure, heart attack, body amputations, and blindness. I know our emotions help with the conditions of the disease body. What can I do to continue to lower blood sugars to a healthy level? Lower trigylcerides and cholesterol(lower in the last two months)? My blood pressure is 122/80.

    A:

Performing the Pancreas kit and regimen as much and as often as you can and you'll get your desired results.

Great maintenance formulas include CIRCUL-AID, PANCREAS FORMULA, SUGAR BUSTER, and BIO-INSULIN.

Q: Thank you so much for doing all that you do. I wish that you were in my everyday life...If I ever come to Cali, I hope to be able to take you up on some of your services. I have given your site out to many people that cross my paths...most recently, a man with diabetes who is going blind. He seemed to be quite thankful for your info...I do hope that he contacts you...and my friend who perhaps has a problem with a parasite(s). But me....okay just waiting for tax refund and then I will hit you up for another full-body detox...and perhaps a parasite kit myself...as it is sad but true..with my current boyfriend careless but kind...I now have a problem with genital herpes...a small breakout every other month...I eat well for the most part...ofcourse it could be better. But the stress is hish...I am working on that. But my question is...would an air purifier do me any good? You see I live in Dundalk, Maryland...near baltimore...near a Steel plant, and a yeast plant, and close to the military practice bombing sites, and other military negative stuff, and the city polluted with car pollution, tons of light pollution, and they spray for mosquitos...then I go to work and I work at a place called ABC Supply...great place right, well the stress is high, and the building we work in is shot...I swear there is mold under the carpets in one of the rooms...the ceiling is constantly leaking and we don't know what from...and the fumes from forklifts and the asphalt from the shingles...the filterfrom the intake gets changed like once a year...but is filled with 'shit' probably in a day or week. So the answer is to get a new job and move...yeah I know...I just don’t know how to do it...or where to go. Since I moved here, I have a problem with my ears...filling up with water or histimine or whatever...usually if I don't drink enough water near my menstrual cycle...I went to a doctor once and basically walked out of the office telling him what to do for his cold...yasee..he was no help...I knew more than him already....these past two years have been bad for allergies. Now, my ears and my throat...my nose too...though I do clean it out with water and that helps. I am not the only one. In the past two years there is a great number of people who say the same thing...they have never had a problem with allergies until these past two years. My grandmother and next door neighbor are two..but many more...well they just started up that steel mill again probably about that time...they sprayed hard core for mosquitos right before my grandmother started having problems...global warming for one...and i dont' know..but two years ago I was involved with a group of people sending out petitions against an LNG liquid natural gas plant that would bring in a ship two times the size of a football field and a huge pipe line to pennsylvania, and a skyscraper of a building to store the gas. Well...we fought against it...but apparently the gas company has more say than our own local government...I don't know...but hear about it every once in a while that they are still trying to get it built. So, an air purifier?? what do you think? Much Love and Health and Thanks!! Peace, RESPONSE: Thank you so very much for your words, Beloved. Much obliged from the heart!

    A:

In regards to your question: Oh yes! By all means purchase an air purifier or an ozone machine (which will actually be best or better for you). Make sure you detox (FULL BODY DETOX) periodically, consume ACTIVATED CHARCOAL, and take plenty of IODINE PHOSPHATE as sea weed is great for neutralizing the effects of radiation.

Q: I am a 64yr. female, breast cancer survivor of 4 years, and have had bilateral knee replacements. I currently take Arimidex, a hormone blocker-my cancer was hormone fed- and prilosec for acid reflux. I have been diagnosed with an irregular heart beat with the lower left chamber of the heart not relaxing enough to fill with needed blood supply to pump blood to my entire body. I was put on Atenolol to reduce my blood pressure but was allergic to it. A new prescription (Lopressor) has been recommended. I do not want to continue to add medicines with all of the side effects. What regimen would your recommend to address all of my concerns? I am completing your FULL BODY DETOX program.

    A:

I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU PERFORM THE FULL BODY DETOX FIRST AND FOREMOST.

Q: My question is regarding fibroids. I have been told I have had fibroids about the size of someone 3 months pregnant. I have been told there are two in clusters. They gave me the diameters, but I don't have that information at this time. My OB/GYN has told me he believes it is causing me to be slightly anemic. I have been trying some remedies on my own like more exercise and a change in diet. My primary physician does not recommend surgery she has me taking iron ferrous sulfate supplements twice per day to help with my iron count. It seems to be helping. The only problem I have with taking the iron supplements is that it sometimes causes constipation and I am normally pretty regular. I usually eliminate 2 times per day sometimes 3. My OB/GYN on the other hand keeps pushing for me to having surgery.& amp; nbsp; They had me take BC pills, however I took myself off of them because they made me sick. I took them only for 6 months. I'm 45 and have never taken BC pills ever and I don't want to start now. I've never been pregnant. I flow heavy on my 2nd and 3rd day heavy and after that it is manageable. My cycle has improved however I want to reduce the flow on those days if possible and of course dissolve the fibroid if at all possible. Doctors tell me they won't go away unless removed. I used to be on my cycle for 7 days and 4 of those days were heavy. Now I'm normally on for 4 days and only the 2nd and 3rd day are heavy. I know that as I reach menopause they may shrink in size, however I'm still aways off from that. I eat no red meat however I do eat fish and poultry. I eat a pretty good balance of vegetables and fruits, mostly raw and steamed. I drink lactaid milk. I don't eat much dairy except cheese and eggs occasionally. I do have a weakness, I love potato chips. I know this is not good. I can feel the fibroid get bigger when I eat them. When I stop for a period of time it decreases in size. At least I feel like it does. I'm not a sugar craver, however during the week before my cycle I'll crave sweets. I usually resist. I feel it's my diet that has caused the fibroids as well as every female in my family has had a hysterectomy due to fibroids. I think it is also hereditary as well. Whatever the case I'd like to know what regimen can you put me on that will help me? The goal is to reduce or dissolve the size of the fibroid so it is not affecting my iron level. I'm also starting to see my abdomen get bigger when I've always had a flat stomach. Perhaps this is me just getting older, however I think it's the fibroids. Constant low levels over time can't be good. I hope I have provided you enough information to give me your recommendation. If not please feel free to e-mail me for any additional information you need. I'm looking for a natural cure. Outside of this condition I'm in very good health. No problem with weight, high blood pressure or high cholesterol. I'm pretty athletic and active as well. Please advise. I look forward to your recommendation.

    A:

I remember just recently e-mailing you on this inquiry. Your diet MUST CHANGE! Consider full fledged RAW FOODS and VEGAN diet during your healing transition. Lactaid milk is HORRIBLE for you. Did you read our â€FIBROID TUMORS†article?????? You need to keep on performing FULL BODY DETOX followed by Fibroid Buster kit and regimen, back to back! Continuously! Detoxing must become a lifestyle for you! For iron, consider Dherbs.Com IRON PHOSPHATE FORMULA and MOON CYCLE FORMULA. Also, consider a telephone consultation because time is greatly limited in writing back in response to inquiries. There is much healing for you, Beloved!

Also, how much per month will these products cost and how many months do the kits last? How do you recommend I buy them? By kit or individual? Thank you for your time!

    A:

I recommend you perform the FULL BODY DETOX kit followed by the FIBRIOD BUSTER CLEANSE AND REGIME. Perform them back to back. Take a break for about a month and perform both of them again. Six weeks on and six weeks off. While your off of these 2 kits, take individual formulas of IRON PHOSPHATE FORMULA, FIBRIOD BUSTER, and MOON CYCLE FORMULA. In re iron, you are taking POISON! The kind of iron you are taking is poisonous and mixes with sulfur in your body which creates constipation. I suggest Dherbs IRON PHOSPHATE FORMULA which is 100% all-natural with absolutely no adverse side effects! Also, you have to improve your diet. Nothing greatly causes fibroids than DAIRY PRODUCTS! The meat, potato chips, dairy, etc. is filling up your trashbags (tumors). Go VEGAN and RAW FOODS! Start reading some of our free health articles, i.e. â€FIBROID TUMORSâ€, â€WHAT IS RAW FOODSâ€, etc. Dherbs products can greatly help you and you'll see and/or feel the difference (as long as you don't cheat on your diet). There is much help for you!

Q: My fiance has experienced water retention and discoloration in his right foot and leg for around 2 years. Doctors had him on water pills, coreg for vascular issues and glyberide for high blood sugars. He ordered the Pancreas kit and around a week into the program experienced more swelling in the foot and leg. He stopped the program to resume taking the water pill to see if this would help. He has gained around 12 lbs which is water held in this leg. I know the natural way of good nutrition and herbs is a good course to follow but can you offer some suggestions to help these issues. 1. water retention 2. His stomach rumbles and gurgles 24 hours a day to the point where I thought our neighbors were dragging furniture across the floor. This has caused him considerable embarrassment at work. We are eating a vegan diet about 50% raw-50%-cooked. Oddly enough when he eats a standard American diet the rumbling stops. 3. High blood pressure. Thank you so much for answering my previous letter to you. I believe in what you are doing, and know that the body will heal at it's own pace with proper care. I have resolved a urinary problem just a week into your Detox program and think it's great.

    A:

Your husband is NOT getting proper circulation to his extremities. He should have not stopped the Pancreas kit because it is common for things to get worse before better. He should have judged himself after the kit was finished in 3-weeks. He experienced the HEALING CRISIS and stopped! He should complete the kit and regimen (perhaps even starting over).

His stomach is making noises because he's having digestive problems. He needs to eat as much raw foods as possible and rink plenty of vegetable juice. SAD foods stops his stomach from gurgling because that's what's in his stomach; and when he does not give his stomach what it wants (a sign of fasting and cleansing), he hear the noise from his stomach. Again, the healing crisis. Things will get worse before they get better. However, you don't stop!

High blood pressure is due to his toxic state and poor circulation!

Have him perform the Full Body Detox and right after the Full Body Detox, the Pancreas kit and regimen.

    There's healing from him!

Please peruse some of our free articles so as to truly learn what's going on with his/your bodies pertaining to healing.

Q: There seems to be a cure or a treatment for everything but kidney disease and trust me I have been looking since 1997 when I was diagnosed with focal glomerulosclerosis. I have been on dialysis for a year and a half now. My Dr told me that once your filters in your kidneys are damaged there is no way the can be replenished. That is what happened to me. The scare tissue in my kidney are so severe that they do not filter my blood properly. I have talked to other herbologist and doctors and the only thing they can recommend is transplant. I believe that God put everything we need to stay healthy on this planet. We just have to find what we need. I read on your web site that your herbs can cure kidney disease. I hope it can cure mine. What type of success have you had in getting patients off of dialysis and if you have how long did it take and what did they have to do?

    A:

To help treat Kidney-Bladder failure/problems, detox your body with Full Body Cleanse. After the cleanse, your daily regimen should consist of Kidney-Bladder-Adrenal formula (3 capsules, 5 times per day) and the Dherbs Kidney Tea (1-2 cups per day). These formulas can help increase healing in your kidneys so that they can function properly.

Q: At age 15 I started getting cysts in my sweat glands (under arms, under breasts, groin area). Doctors treated me with antibiotics and creams over the years... it left so much scar tissue...Around age 23 I had my sweat glands removed and at that time I was diagnosed with HS (Hydra denitus supporativa)... the problem went away for about a year, and eventually moved to another place (the groin).. seems to flare up monthly during my menstrual cycle.. Since then, I was diagnosed with kidney disease, I am a dialysis patient with High blood pressure, high cholesterol.. I am on at least 6 medications to regulate my blood pressure, cholesterol, potassium, and phosphorous levels.. Due to all these changes, my libido is extremely low and almost nonexistent.. I have a hard time achieving a climax with my partner...I am married with 3 young children... I've considered weight loss surgery as a way to finally get my weight under control as it has been a huge issue for the last 10 years. What can you recommend that I can take to detox and cleanse myself of all my health issues?? Is there really anything out there to help my situation??

    A:

There's always help! Keep your mind focused and stay positive. Give the Full Body Cleanse a try followed by the Pancreas Cleanse.

Q: I recently completed the Full Body Detox, which I loved. Now, 2 months later, I am very interested in the weight release program. Last year, I lost 40 lbs in 8 months, in the most healthy way (good nutrition and exercise). This year, I slowly started gaining weight back, and 1 year later, I continue to gain weight much more quickly. I am still working out regularly, and eating well. Would you recommend the Weight Release Kit? I am looking to take off 20 lbs at the most. Is that realistic for this formula? However, I want to build muscle and strength as well. Can I maintain the results of the program with the directed nutrition plan, and add white meat for protein (chicken, turkey, tuna). I am also wondering if the formulas simply release excess weight, or can I expect to lose inches and lower my body fat percentage? Thanks for your time and dedication to natural health!

    A:

Glad to hear about your success with the Full Body Detox!

I would highly recommend the Weight Release Kit and Regimen. NO MEAT though! Try vegan alternatives if you must have something - but no meats!

You will release weight (waste)! Your weight is nothing but waste!

Q: What Are Some Natural Sweet Treats (Junk Foods) I can Consume? Under free will you can consume what you like, but healthier products are best. You will find plenty of "healthier" snack, treat, and junk foods at good health food stores such as Whole Foods Market, PCC Natural Food Stores, Erewhon, Trader Joes, Natural Grocers, New Frontiers, etc. Just make sure to abstain from salt, sugar, and other harmful chemicals in the products you buy. We list many companies of alternative foods and products (and their website addresses) in our ALTERNATIVE DIET AND LIFESTYLES MANUAL.

Q: I found this health article on the risk of getting cancer from working at night. I'm a night worker. have been for 16 yrs, and my sleeping and eating patterns haven?t been the same since. The article mentions taking melatonin...is that safe and effective? Also do you have any herbal cures for us night timers to reverse the effects of working the graveyard shift? I can sure use them?

    A:

Cancer stems from a host of things, not just one thing like working at night. Disease results from negative thoughts/mindset, negative attitude, poor diet; insalubrious lifestyle, and insalubrious environment. You don't need to take melatonin. Your body (pineal gland) produces it. As a night worker, just make sure when you are sleeping in the day time your room is completely dark, just like how Dracula used to sleep in the darkness of his coffin during the daylight hours. This is why Dracula was a thousand years old but looked young. He slept during the day (which produces melatonin which is an anti-aging hormone) and he operated at night whereby he also produced melatonin. Dude never aged! You do the same, just don't suck on no necks to get blood though -- LOL!!!! And no! There are no herbs to reverse anything that comes from actions or behaviors that are unnatural. You reverse the effects of night-time work by doing the opposite. In your case, it's your job (which you don't want to quit unless you can find another one), so you just get some good sleep during the day in pitch darkness.

Q: I have been experiencing very trying health issues for many years (over 25 years). The trouble began when my gall bladder was removed 26 years ago. I had mood swings, lack of energy, and severe diarrhea. Approximately 13 years ago I had an additional surgery for an umbilical hernia. Due to pre-op tests, my physician diagnosed me with thyroid disease and placed me on synthroid. This medication dramatically improved the digestive issues I had experienced for many years. I had very loose bowels when menstruating and when I was ill. I am overweight and have dealt with weight issues all my life. Three years ago I had a scare where I thought I experienced a heart attack. I spent three days in the hospital and learned of many health risks. My triglycerides were extremely high along with my sugar being borderline. I have been tested for diabetes on a number of occasions in my life but never show to be. There are numerous cases of diabetes in my family. My mother and one sister are insulin dependent and one other sister is on some form of pill medication for diabetes. At that time, I gave up sugar and began a regime at the gym. The have not eaten any sweets other than what I get in a little ketchup occasionally or some other kind of sauce that may contain some sugar. I have gone to the gym with minimal results in losing weight. I had a total hysterectomy six weeks ago. My regular GP has been on vacation and I've been dealing with one of her associates. This dr. sent me in for glucose tolerance and she has since diagnosed me as Type II Diabetic. She put me on a medication called "Metformin" and has me taking a 500 mg pill twice daily. I have only been on this medication for three days. I have been very careful to eat only what they say I can. I am experiencing the same issues as before with the diarrhea. Last night I was up all night with this and it is like water coming out of me. I am unable to find a physician who understands that I want to lose the weight, but cannot when I'm constantly dehydrated and feeling lethargic. When I have this constant problem, I am not able to do what I need to do for my overall health. Sorry to be so wordy but I wanted to explain the full extent of what I am experiencing. My friend told me to get on this website and explain my issues. He feels that you may be able to guide me in the direction of a natural product or products that can help me to have normal bowel movements and therefore begin doing the physical exercise that is needed for me to reduce my chances of becoming an insulin dependent diabetic.

Q: Good Day to you. July 07, I was diagnosed with having the auto-immune disease Myasthenia Gravis. Since then I have had several hospital stays, including a surgery to remove my Thymus Gland...(beleif that this was one cause)and taking many medications, one of which suppresses my immune system, the others include steroids which have terrible side effects...etc. My latest hospital stay, I was placed on the vent and intubated, because of the Myasthenia and an infection that my body couldn't fight off (suppressed immune system) that further complicated the MG restricting my respiratory system. That was a truly scary and painful experience. I am only 32 and I have been searching for a more natural approach to eradicating this Dis-Ease of the body which they say there is no cure. My thoughts are, they are not looking for cures...if they did, that would mean the pharmaceutical companies no longer have reason to continue to poison and make dependent on them those whom they make the medications...which eventually cause other problems...meaning they don't make money if cures are found. The continuous pill taking and side effects are causing more problems than the original diagnosis. Please let me know if any of your products are a possible answer to my prayers. I am desperately seeking...in addition to keeping the faith and staying strong in prayer, a more natural approach to dealing with MG and taking care of my body, the temple of which the creator has kept alive in spite of this potentially dangerous ailment. Thank you in advance for your time.

    A:

You didn't have to have your thymus gland removed. This gland is the seat of the immune system so the doctors removed your natural defense and then gave you toxins which are really exacerbating your situation. I recommend that you perform the FULL BODY DETOX and after performing, take a daily regimen of RAINFOREST TONIC, IMMUNE BOOSTER EXTRACT, KHEMETIAN GOLD, ACTIVATED CHARCOAL and ELECTRIC GREENS CELL FOOD. Q: On WebMD there is information stating that high fiber foods such as raw fruits, and vegetables can irritate or flare up Crohn's disease. But, your article on Chron's disease says to switch to a vegan diet after detoxing. Why would raw fruits and vegetables flare up Chron's disease? Why do your articles suggest to eat raw fruits and veggies when people say it can irritate the disease?

    A:

We don't subscribe to that. We do our own homework at Dherbs.com. There is no confusion at Dherbs because we use logic, reason, common sense, intuition, wisdom, etc. So we are not confused in regards to food and health.

Q: I have been experiencing diabetes for 14 years, using insulin twice daily along with another diabetes control pill (januvia). This has all been to no avail as I continue to suffer from the disease along with hypertension. As someone who has practiced spiritual principles for many, many years, I feel that I am pretty much in tune with my True Spirit. However, I realize that my eating habits and the use of medications are aiding in the continuance of the seeming illness. I would love to try your product but I have for many years suffered from a lost of control of appetite. The only program that has ever really helped to decrease my appetite was Atkins diet, which is near impossible to stay with. I lost weight and the sugars decreased. However, I was not able to continue eating only meats and virtually no fruit or veggies and therefore gained all the weight back. I even has a lap band inserted, which did nothing for the decrease of my appetite and I consequently found foods to eat which would go through the band. Please help!!

    A:

Q: Nothing is stopping me except the lack of a workable plan of action, which I am in the process of putting on paper. There is a question that I've wanted to ask you for a while. Do you have or can you put together a sample daily menu of food choices based on what you eat, or what your research has shown to be good? I do have a couple of conditions I want to cure.... I have arthritis in my neck and upper back caused by a whip lash, and I have high blood pressure that I take medication to control. I read the article about controlling disease, and I am interested in curing these conditions. I have started an exercise regimen, and need a diet plan to go along with it. I want to lose weight as part of my healing.

A: You may want to start with the Full Body Cleanse to begin your healing. In regards to a dietplan, check out the Alternative Diet and Lifestyle Manual. This manual has a lot of suggesstions and recommendations for a vegan-based, raw foods diet that you will want to accompany your cleanse. When performing the cleanse, following the guidelines of this diet is integral in achieving the results you desire.

Q: I am 66 yrs old and have multiple health problems-HBP, Diabetes and depression. I weigh 240 lbs. and want to get down to at least 190 or lower. My skin at this time on my arms and stomach looks awful. When I lose the weight which I intend to do with your help. Is there anything you can do to help tighten your skin as you lose weight. Remember my age.

    A:

Thanks for the question! That is a very good question at that.

To avoid loose skin from weight loss the best thing you can do is lose weight slowly and efficiently. Healthy weight loss is around 1lb to 2lbs per week. Your body always seeks balance and does not respond well to rapid weight gain or loss. Hence the stretching of your skin. It takes around two years for your stretched skin to return to "normal" so be patient. Losing weight fast is a goal most people have and you hear stories of people losing 10 lbs a week and believe that is the way to go. Considering your age it's best to take things slow. Besides not losing weight too rapidly, here are three other tips for keeping skin tight.

    1. Switch to a high raw food diet. Raw food diets are often referred to as "Facelift Diets". People who eat a majority of their food raw (60% plus) look younger than most because of the high antioxidant and phytochemical count in raw plant foods. I have seen hundreds of raw foodists lose weight and cellulite at the same time. Raw food helps the body stay hydrated, refreshed, and repairing rapidly. Fruits are my favorite skin food. Avocados, coconut, bananas, peaches, tropical fruit, grapefruit, berries, etc are all potent skin renewing and correcting foods.
    2. Hydration is the key to elastic skin. A simple test to see if you are hydrated is to pinch the skin on the top of your hand for two seconds and then releasing. If the skin snaps back you are hydrated. If it slowly pulls back to position you need to hydrate. The best way to hydrate is to drink two glasses of room temperature water as soon as you wake up. As maintenance drink 8 ounces of water every two hours. Remove or lessen the amount of dehydrating foodstuffs like coffee, tea that is not herbal, table salt, animal products, artificial sugars.
    3. Take care of your skin now by exfoliating daily, doing salt scrubs, using non toxic and natural beauty products. A rule of thumb is "if you wouldn't put it in your mouth don't put it on your skin". Your skin has a direct pathway to your blood stream so be careful what you put on it. I use coconut oil on my skin daily as a moisturizer and that is it. My skin has never been better.

Lastly, with your health goals I recommend you have a free online consultation with me. I run a six month health coaching program over skype that teaches a system of health that empowers people to take control of their own health by teaching them all the tools to get their. Q: I made the alternative baby formula for my 3 month old yesterday, and she drank all of it! However, I just did some research online and wanted to know what your take on a warning I found online. Caution: Irish Moss has some blood thinning properties, So people taking anti-coagulating medications should avoid using it. Pregnant or breast-feeding patients should avoid it. Infants shouldn't be given Irish moss because it may suppress the immune system. Patients with underlying bleeding disorders or hypotension should use Irish moss with caution. Please Advise?

    A:

A bunch of BS! Don't believe the hype! Sea moss is 100% nutrition with no adverse side effects!

Q: I have white spots over 40 percent on my body and some very dry scaly dark spots on parts of my body. I read some place in one of your articles that with these specific herbs regardless of the skin disorder these herbs will help to reverse the disorder regardless of skin condition. Q: I am 58 years old 5'9.5" 145lbs. I have diabetes, hepatitis "C", high blood pressure, chronic renal disease and asthma. Where do I start? What do you suggest? If it would help I could fax my last blood work result.

    A:

There is healing for you, Beloved! For diabetes, perform the Pancreas Kit and Regimen. For Hepatitis C, perform the FULL BODY DETOX. For high blood pressure, the FULL BODY DETOX will work for this as well. For asthma, perform the RESPIRATORY CLEANSE AND REGIMEN. Chronic renal disease? The RESPIRATORY CLEANSE AND REGIMEN will also help for this too! So basically, you need to perform the Full Body Detox. After you perform your cleanses, make sure your diet is correct: cut out or cut back meat, and dairy products, refined grains and starches, etc. Avoid pharmaceutical meds. Bathe in sea salt (add 1 box) every day. Dietary and lifestyle change is the key!!!!
