Yam Enchiladas

0-689235638-enchiladas
This recipe is quite delicious and since we are partial to any type of Latin American food, it was very popular. These enchiladas are quite simple to make; you can even make the filling ahead of time, as well as the sauce. So when dinner comes around all you have to do is warm the tortillas, stuff and roll them and slather them in sauce. In the oven and voila! Dinner is served.

YAM ENCHILADAS [VEGAN, GLUTEN-FREE]

SERVES

4

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 large yams – peeled-boiled
  • 3/4 cup black beans
  • 1 small onion – minced
  • 1 medium bell pepper – diced small
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 10 corn tortillas
  • 2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 jalapeno
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 red pepper

PREPARATION

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350F
  2. Boil the yams until tender.
  3. In a large pan, water sauté the onion and pepper until softened, about 5-6 minutes.
  4. Transfer yams and vegetables into a large bowl and mash until well incorporated. Add spices. Warm the tortillas in the oven and then stuff and roll them, about 2-3 tbsp of filling per tortilla.
  5. While the potatoes are boiling, blend the tomatoes or tomato sauce with the rest of the sauce ingredients and simmer until it has reduced to a thick consistency.
  6. Pour some sauce into an oven safe dish to cover the bottom, then add in the enchiladas and then pour the rest over them. Bake for 20-30 minutes.
  7. Enjoy!

Q: How often should one eat cook food? I'm a vegan, I do not consume any meat, seafood, milk what so ever. I eat water cresses like everyday so as cook food. Like white rice with black bean sauce, spinach, and pasta at time's I'll eat some Chinese fried rice, veggie roll, steamed vegetables, any advice?

    A:

You can eat cooked food as much as you like. However, try to incorporate as many nutrient-dense raw foods, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, raw nuts and seeds, into your diet to make sure you are receiving an adequate amount of nutrients.

Q: I wrote to you a couple weeks ago asking if it was normal for me to have an outbreak only a day or two into the full body cleanse kit. You wrote back and told me that an outbreak is the body healing. It is two weeks later and I am still having an outbreak! Is this a good sign? Do you think this outbreak may continue on through my anti viral kit? I have been eating mostly fruits and vegetables, however I felt like I needed more substance and I was not enjoying my food at all... so I bought organic noodles and organic tomato sauce (sea salt only, tomatoes, no sugar, you get the point). Is adding some of this into my diet going to make the kits less effective or possibly not work?

    A:

The outbreak is a result of your body trying to eliminate the toxicity and impurities from your body. Continue to follow the guidelines of the Cleanse.

In regards to what you ate, YES, they make the cleanse less effective, so you may not want to eat much of cooked foods. Raw foods will optimize the cleanse. If you are having trouble staying full, try more healthy fats, like avocado, coconut cream, or raw nuts and seeds.

Q: I love to drink water, but I like to drink hot water you know boiling water slightly cooled. Is there a benefit, or disadvantage to this compared to drinking room temperature water? Secondly, the water I drink is boiled water. Alkaline water is not a privilege most Kenyans have. If 56% of the population is living below poverty line you do the math. So the water I drink is tap water, that I boil to make it safe for drinking. When I get to work I have Alkaline water as my work place provides me with that provision. I think this is detailed enough for you to get the picture and help. Once again (I love you) in Swahili for spreading the gospel!

    A:

No difference at all, Beloved! Even the boiled water becomes room temperature water. You're doing fine! Thank you for your words as well! Much appreciated! Peace and Love!

Q: Is sea salt and warm water a good natural laxative? If so how often do you recommend the use of sea salt for elimination? I was reading The Master Cleanser by Stanley Burroughs and it gives this recommendation, along with drinking lemon water mixed with organic syrup and cayenne pepper. Is it safe to give myself an enema 2xs per day using a hot water bottle filled with fresh squeezed organic lemon and distilled water? Asking this because Bzod had me to listen to 88.3 today here in Cincinnati and the guy (Mike) was telling how he does this regularly and has great results.

    A:

Yes, sea salt in water is a mild laxative!

You can do it as often as you FEEL the need to drink or take it.

You can also consume the Master Cleanse (cayenne, maple syrup, lemon juice) if you choose. You can drink this as much as you like depending on how you feel.

And yes, you can perform enemas 2X a day! Enemas are very helpful for health!

Q: Why do I get a horrible stomach ache, that lasts a couple hours after I eat a strong pepper such as a habanero pepper? Is the pepper showing me that I have an existing condition such as an ulcer? Is the pepper damaging my stomach? What is going on?

    A:

The stomach ache is talking to you - LEAVE THE PEPPERS ALONE! Sounds like they are burning you internally! Start drinking aloe vera juice daily (one half water, and one half aloe vera juice). Also consider detoxing your body with a Full Body Cleanse.

Q: What's the best way to start on a vegan/raw food diet? I am not sure what to eat to make sure I would get a nutritious diet-you may not be able to go into that much detail but how can I get sample meal plans for breakfast, lunch and dinner incorporating this type of diet-perhaps there is somewhere on the web I find something like this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    A:

If I do say myself, the best way to start a raw food diet is to be coached by me. I run a 6 month health coaching program that is 60-90 percent raw and 100 percent vegan/gluten free/ allergy free. You can find out more about my program at www.theveganeffect.com. I am running a special of half off my program if you sign up before march 1st.

Here are some other tips to get started.

1: Join a raw food meetup group or community. Surround yourself with supportive people who can point you in the right direction. Try meetup.org or 30bananasaday.com

2: Read books like "beauty detox solution" by snyder, "80/10/10" by Dr. Graham., or "The Paradigm diet" by Adam Dave

3: Start simple with breakfast. Always start your day with a green smoothie. read "Green smoothie revolution" by forget authors name at the moment. heh.

A sample meal plan would be.

    Breakfast: Green smoothie

Bridge: raw bar, handful of nuts or seeds, or fruit

Lunch: Raw wraps made from collard greens. use a base of tahini, hummus, or nut butter. Fill with sprouts and colorful veggies

Bridge: raw bar, handful nuts or seeds, or fruit

Dinner: Raw pasta with a large salad

    Snack: Sorbet

Q: I am interested in all the lessons you have tabled in the article section of Dherbs. On reading one article, I learned that pepper is a mucus irritant. I am concern because I have about read on some other blog about a doctor that cure cancer using pepper and garlic (credits to KELLY EIDEM). So, I have been eating raw hot pepper and garlic. So sir, I would like to learn if there is any side effects in eating hot pepper as you have mentioned that it's mucus irritant. Thanks. Your reader.

    A:

Eating hot peppers has its benefits but excess consumption may eventually cause harm. It boils down to how often and how much of them you are eating. Organic doesn't make a thing necessarily good to eat. Organic peanut butter is better than regular or inorganic peanut butter but peanut butter is peanut butter and thus hard on the digestive process.

Q: I'm a 21 year old male suffering from testicular disorder and from partial impotence (Takes longer than 5 minutes without porn to get hard and no morning erections). Here are my questions. 1. How long would it take for the Male Hormonal Formula (which I just purchased a few days ago) before I notice any results? Just curious. 2. Can take the three daily pills all at once, one before each meal (breakfast, lunch dinner), or what? 3. How much water should I drink with this and can other drinks like tea and juice act as a substitute for just plain water?

    A:

How fast you see results with the Male Hormonal Formula all depends on how much your body needs to cleanse before it returns to optimal function!

You can take all 3 capsules at once.

You can drink water or substitute water with herbal tea or fresh juice.

Q: I am a voluptuous (plus sized) African American female who has large fibroids (size of 7 month pregnancy). I am planning to have uterine artery embolization this spring. I came across your website and am interested in the full body detox and the fibroid buster kit. Which product do you suggest?

    A:

I suggest BOTH! First perform the FULL BODY DETOX, secondarily, perform the FIBROID BUSTER kit and regimen. With fibroids your size you will need constant cleansing of your body and a change of diet. You require a life change! Do this and you will heal naturally!

Q: Is it safe to take "alfalfa and devil claw," without the gel-capsules? For instance, pour it's contents into water, or a soft drink.

    A:

Both alfalfa and devil claw are plants that are commonly used for health treatments. As long as the supplements are natural you should be able to empty the contents into freshly squeezed juices, smoothies and herbal teas. Most gel capsules are simply just to mask the taste of the contents.

Q: I recently purchased your Parasite and Worm Kit and wanted to know what grains were good to eat during or after the cleanse. I eat Bulgur, brown rice, black rice, couscous, gold and brown flax seed and ground provisions i.e. yams, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, turnips and etc. Are these ok to eat during the Parasite and Worm Kit or after? Is apple cider or balsamic vinegar ok for consumption? My Queen and I look forward to removing all the parasites form our temple and projecting the increased vibration. Continue to shine the light.

    A:

Stay RAW while removing the parasites! If you stay mostly RAW, then on a few days you can engage yourself in some of the foods you mention below (maybe once a week)! But RAW is best! Apple Cider Vinegar is the BEST vinegar to use!

Q: In the Full Body Detox booklet it states I can have wild rice if I need something warm. I really don't like wild rice, but can I make myself a vegetable soup which I prefer. To me its more filling then the rice.

    A:

DHERBS: Sure! Simply eat your vegetable soup instead of wild rice.

Also I have been having sweet cravings lately. Is there anyone, besides mental will power to overcome this craving.

DHERBS: The root cause is emotional, however, try drinking Licorice Root or Cinnamon tea during your detox. Your detox may be detoxing some old stale emotions from the 4th chakra (love center).

Q: I have other food combinations that I’m kind of confused about on the e book, this is my first time learning to combine food 1. can I add this to my salad a. Tomato (I think the answer is no) b. cucumber (the 3 below are under proteins, @ the bottom is says that you can mix them with vegetables but in the same sentence it’s also says you cant mix them with proteins...it’s a bit confusing to me) c. cashews or walnuts d. avocado

    A:

You can add these to your salad! They are exceptions because you are eating them in a salad and tomatoes and cucumbers are veggie-fruits, so they are okay! Avocadoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc are okay in your salad!

Q: I have the alternative diet and lifestyle manual and want to make sure that this applies to the respiratory condition as well. Can I have the rice bread with no gluten or wheat? or rice pasta being that I have sarcoid? Can I eat cold water fish or venison in small portions along with veggies? What about rice or soy milk or protein whey shake for breakfast once or twice a week? Thank you once again my breathing has improved greatly and I have ordered many more supplies to maintain what I have accomplished thus far due to your regimen. I am not a vegetarian so I want to make sure it is okay to have white meats. I will do whatever I have to do to live. I love and appreciate everything you have done to change and help me to heal myself.

    A:

The manual applies when you are FINISHED with a cleanse or kit. Follow the regimen's diet. It clearly states NO COOKED FOOD. You are asking us about cooked food here. Stick to the diet plan and you will be alright! You are asking about foods no good for your condition. Whey is crap. Meat is no good. Grains are no good for you as well. They all produce too much mucus!

Q: I have incorporated fish into my diet because I have been craving. Is moderation okay.... meaning my fruits for breakfast a regular lunch with salad and a salad for dinner okay to pretty much moderate other foods? It is challenging for me to become a vegan. Do you have any suggestions on how to still eat healthy to maintain an alkalized body with certain foods with moderation that are not raw? I still drink my green veggies at least twice a day. I am praying that my results will be negative.

    A:

FISH IN MODERATION IS OKAY FOR YOU. TO MAINTAIN ALKALINITY, DESPITE THE ACID-FORMING THINGS YOU EAT, JUST MAKE SURE TO EAT AS MANY GREEN FOODS AS POSSIBLE. YOU CAN ALSO TAKE 6 CAPSULES OF ELECTRIC GREENS CELL FOOD TOO! YOU’RE DOING GOOD SO KEEP YOUR THOUGHTS POSITIVE AND ON YOUR DESIRES.
