Eating Walnuts Could Help You Avoid Weight Gain

National Walnut Day is annually observed on May 17th, and we couldn’t be happier about it. Walnuts are one of our favorite foods to eat while cleansing because they are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, copper, manganese, and are a great source of protein. They are quite addicting, which is why it is important to limit your consumption of them. Tree nuts, like walnuts, are typically high in calories, so it is best to add them to salads or only eat them as snacks to avoid weight gain.

Walnuts are the oldest known tree food, dating back to about 10,000 BC. They have been used for their medicinal properties, helping to heal wounds, reduce inflammation, and freshen oral scents (nice way of saying, “cure bad breath”). Walnuts are nutrient-rich and the most common varieties are the English walnut (native to Central Asia) and the Black walnut (native to North America).

The English walnut was introduced to California in the 1700s and now roughly 99% of the nation’s walnuts are grown in the San Joaquin and Sacramento valleys. When you eat walnuts, remember that raw walnuts are best. Raw walnuts don’t have all the chemicals, artificial flavors, and aren’t processed like most packaged walnuts that are roasted, salted, seasoned, or candied. • Q: I am allergic to all types of nuts and noticed that some of the supplements in the detox program include Kola Nut and black walnut husk. Will this affect me in the same way as eating a regular nut? If so, what alternatives do you suggest for me to do a detox?

    A:

No need to worry! Not your typical nuts. These are powdered into herbal powders. You won't have problems with these herbs derived from nuts.

  • Q: My wife and I want to try your product but we noticed that one has black walnut shell in it. I am very allergic to all nuts. Do you have an alternative formula for people like me. Have you had any reactions from people taking the formula?

    A:

I don't believe there's enough Black Walnut Hulls in our products to cause you a problem. However, it's your choice. Follow your intuition and proceed accordingly.

  • Q: I am interested in the COLON FORMULA. I do not have a problem with constipation, but about twice a year I use an over the counter product just for cleansing purposes. I have a concern about the harshness of this product, and the walnut hulls. Are you speaking of the most hard outer shell or the inner husk?

    A:

How do you know there is harshness with the product when you've never tried it? Try a natural thing as freely as you have tried UNNATURAL things. Be fair and unbiased against nature! Black Walnut Hull is the outer hull, pulverized of course. Think positive and you will attract positive. Think results and you will attract results!

  • Q: I am on my 3rd day of the fully body cleansing. I am definitely doing this to lose weight. I am a 52 year old, black, Christian, wife, mother to 21 and 14 year old girls, legal secretary who is 450 lbs. I am to the point now where if I don't do this I'm going to be housebound. I can barely move some days that is why I started this because I feel so unhealthy. I have a question about the nuts. I got all gun-ho and ordered $135.00 worth of organic nuts from nuts.com. I got raisins, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, walnuts, pecans, pistachios and cashews and mixed them all up together (well I purchased 2 lbs of each but I only mixed up 1 lb of each together). Anyway, I was reading about how much calories are in nuts. Should I not pay attention to that because I was consuming a lot of calories in the first place or do I have to watch how many nuts I eat? I have put some nuts in a sandwich bags and basically filled it up and that is supposed to be my nuts ration for the day. I am also eating fruits and vegetables. So far the fruit have been grapes, grapefruit, red apples, pears, green apples and bananas. The vegetables have all been in a salad: tomatoes, celery spinach leaves, carrots, mixed in balsamic vinaigrette. I only ate the salad Monday night all the other times I have just eaten the fruit and nuts. I am also consuming approximately 75-100 oz of water. Sorry I’m long winded I just wanted you to get the entire picture.

    A:

Thanks for the question, I can definitely help you.

I am currently writing an eBook for www.dherbs.com called "Losing weight the healthy way." I have been a weight loss counselor for many years. I am also a health coach, personal trainer, bodymind nutritionist, and a vegan lifestyle coach.

When it comes to weight loss most programs want you to lose weight to get healthy. My mindset is to get healthy and lose weight.

In my health/fitness/nutrition coaching program www.theveganeffect.com I use a lowfat/high carb/ high raw/ nutrient dense/ high alkaline diet to achieve long term weight loss success. So far I am 100 percent in getting clients long lasting weight loss. If you are interested in my program please fill out the health history form on the side of the web page. We could have a free 1 hour initial consultation over skype to see how I can best help you.

Nuts are best kept to a minimum if you use them at all. Nuts are extremely high in fat and have the opposite omega 3- omega 6 ratio that is optimal for health. Seeds are best as far as ratios are concerned. Also nuts are truly easy to over eat and cause your nutrient ratios to be off.

A healthy vegan diet is a high raw fruitarian diet.

    Example:

Breakfast: green smoothie. (500-1000 calories of fruits blended with a handful of greens and water)

Bridge: Dates and strawberries (500 calories)

Lunch: Salad with low sugar fruits (cucumber, tomato, squash, bell peppers) topped with fruit, beans, psuedo grains,

    Bridge: 2-3 apples

Dinner: Raw wraps (collard greens) with low sugar fruit and tahini

    Snack: Sorbet

    Hope this helps

  • Q: I have other food combinations that I’m kind of confused about on the e book, this is my first time learning to combine food 1. can I add this to my salad a. Tomato (I think the answer is no) b. cucumber (the 3 below are under proteins, @ the bottom is says that you can mix them with vegetables but in the same sentence it’s also says you cant mix them with proteins...it’s a bit confusing to me) c. cashews or walnuts d. avocado

    A:

You can add these to your salad! They are exceptions because you are eating them in a salad and tomatoes and cucumbers are veggie-fruits, so they are okay! Avocadoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc are okay in your salad!

  • Q: Can you please advise if the colon cleansing will have any effects if I suffer from loose stools rather than constipation? Have had issues with loose stools since my gall bladder was removed. Some improvement when I was diagnosed with thyroid disease and began taking Synthroid, but I still have issues with very loose stools and severe gas at times. Can this colon cleansing relieve these issues? Also, I have an allergy to nuts, all kinds. Can I still take the cleansing formulas that include the shells of walnuts; I believe is what it said. I must be very careful because I have been hospitalized after ingesting a very minute amount of what I think was peanuts. Your advice would be greatly appreciated as I am very interested in trying your products but at the same time I must be careful with my allergies. Also I’m allergic to eggs.

    A:

YOU WOULD BENEFIT FROM THE FULL BODY DETOX FOLLOWED BY THE DHERBS 10-DAY SUPREME COLON CLEANSE. BLACK WALNUT HULLS ARE SAFE FOR YOU. IT'S NOT ACTUALLY A NUT, BUT THE HULL FROM IT. ALLERGIES ARE OVERCOME WITH DEEP CLEANSING ON THE CELLULAR AND TISSUE LEVEL. REMOVAL OF THE GALLBLADDER HAS THROWN YOUR BODY OUT OF WHACK. HOWEVER, THE BODY DOES HAVE THE ABILITY TO COMPENSATE.

  • Q: What do you tell someone that believes that eating meat is better than eating products not made of meat such as wheat pasta, brown rice, etc. My wife eats way too much meat, and she always says that she needs it for the protein. She doesn't work out or exercise regularly so I see it as just an excuse to continue the same old behavior. She's 5'6" and 205lbs and I think she should weigh 140 - 145 max. She's 43 years old and suffers from high blood pressure and swelling in the legs.

    A:

We provide you with all the ammo you need in our free articles. Read the articles WHAT IS MEAT?, PROTEIN PROPAGANDA, THE DANGERS OF EATING MEAT, etc. You'll have all the ammo you need to counteract or retort any meat-eater's argument about eating dead animal flesh!

  • Q: I AM EXPECTING MY DETOX PACKAGE TO COME IN POSSIBLY ON TUESDAY. I WANT TO START REPLENSHING MY DRY FRUITS. 1. ALMONDS 2. PECANS. 3. RAW CASHEWS. I HARDLY EAT PEANUTS AND I KNOW THEY ARE NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL. DO YOU RECOMMEND WALNUTS? MY FAVORITE ARE ABOVE. PLUS SHOULD I GET DISTILLED WATER? ALSO BEFORE DISCOVERING DHERBS, I PUT In A WHOLE WATER FILTRATON SYSTEM IN MY HOUSE AND I BELIEVE IT IS CONSIDERED PURIFIED WATER. IS THIS GOOD OR SHOULD I BUY BOTTLED DISTILLED WATER. I AM VERY ANXIOUS TO START DETOXING BECAUSE THIS IS THE FIRST TIME.

    A:

Walnuts are good to eat during the Full Body Cleanse. Distilled water is the best water during the Full Body Cleanse, but your filtered water would also be okay to drink during the cleanse.

  • Q: I want to stop eating meat but I don?t know what type of tofu I should start eating I'm so use to eating meat...should I substitute meat and start eating tofu.is Tofu bad or good.

    A:

Check out our Alternative Diet and Lifestyle manual ($11) and look under MEAT ALTERNATIVES! There are many tofu brands that are safe and beneficial.

  • Q: Greetings & Namaste, First, thank you for being U-activated! So many potential energies unable to convert into kinetic activities because of our Earthly baggage(s). Personally, I haven't found the right formula to keep my beautiful curves, which is the major reason I am not vegan/raw now. In my perfect world, I'd have a great-tasting, non-dairy,wheat & gluten source of protein, juiced exotic veggie/fruit smoothies, yummy raw nuts/raisins, and absolutely no meat- the fountain of youth, literally, running thru my body! As i'm sure the cognitive wheels of your expertise are spiraling ready solutions, I ask that you also factor in social-economic status, and workout regiment. From my perspective, the price of health food is aggressively over-inflated compared to the affordability of processed and junk foods; add to that a general inaccessibility to the impoverished & disenfranchised, and dysfunctional eating psychologies impregnating entire families (for generations). I prefer high energy, high impact, anaerobic & weight-lifting training activities. So, you can see a petite person's dilemma. Thanks so much for your time and thoughts. Ms. Tiffany

    Greetings & Namaste,

Being raw or vegan does not have to be hard or expensive. The most inexpensive food are rice and beans. If you are budget consciense you should gravitate towards those foods. Stach based foods are super cheap. You should check out the book "eating vegan on 4 dollars a day" or any of Dr. Mcdougal's programs.

I run an online health/fitness/nutrition coaching program that can be found at www.theveganeffect.com. There you might find your answers.

Exercise programs do not have to be expensive either. I am a master at building fitness plans with the minimal of equipment. If all you have is your body weight than I can build you a 90 day plan. The same goes if all you have is a resistance band, exercise ball, dumbells, kettlebell, etc.

If you need any advice or have specific questions you should check out my website and message me there.

  • Q: Hello... I apologize for the length of this because I understand how precious your time is. About 2 weeks ago I had a one-night stand. We used a flavored condom. A few days after I began to have some vaginal itching, which I disregarded as yeast infection I took some black walnut hulls but that did and the itching subsided it a bit. I decided to buy some vagisil (I know its toxic but the itching was unbearable and I wanted immediate relief so badly.) Later on that day my clitoris began to burn but I thought it was from the vagisil. Fast-forward 2 days I looked at my vagina in a mirror and noticed there was a small scab on clitoris. Immediately thought I had herpes. I read your article on herpes and thought I needed to detox my body immediately I have been living unrighteous and it is time to live righteously! I forgave myself for abusing myself with alcohol and weed and unrighteous sex. I then forgave the person for giving me herpes. I'm grateful I had that encounter because it taught me to become center and grounded. I ordered the full body detox, which I am on currently and thought maybe I should do the anti viral kit & regimen afterwards. However I did not get tested for herpes and I may not even have it. I did not want to get tested because I did not want it on the books that I have herpes. I fully agree and over stand there are no incurable diseases. MY body is in a diseased state and blood is toxic. My question is should I get tested after the anti viral regimen kit if I have never been diagnosed with the disease. And I am also a college student with limited funds and not sure if I should invest in the kit because I do not have any money right now. I'M not having sex again until it is with a soul mate. I do want to take an HIV test to show my soul mate I do not have that disease. (in case he asks) I have never taken one of those before. Will it come back negative after the full body detox? I'm not sure what to do from here. Thank you for time. I truly appreciate your site. If I had not found your site I would not be a vegetarian to day and I would not know how to heal myself. I excited about my new path of living positively!

    A:

I would suggest you read our article "Genital Herpes". Sound likes you learned a serious lesson. Now it's time to heal. I would recommend performing the Anti-Viral kit followed by the Full Body Detox and if you can only order one product, I'd say give the Anti-Viral a try. Please read our free health articles. they will further stimulate thinking.

  • Q: I have a friend who had contacted me in helping her with a sickness she has. The doctors can not find anything wrong with her, except they told her she couldn't have wheat gluten. She says she has been sick for over a year. Her weight at one time was 138, that would be a little heavy for her 5' height. But she is down to 80 lbs....and can not put any weight on. This is under weight, and unhealthy as she is a meat eater. I can certainly recommend a cleanse, and can help her with a great diet...if she is willing....But what possibly could be keeping her from gaining any weight? Any information is helpful.

    A:

Sounds to me like your friend has a serious parasite infestational problem. Parasites could be stealing her food and nutrition. I suggest the FULL BODY DETOX followed by the PARASITE AND WORM CLEANSE AND REGIMEN.

  • Q: Hi it's me again. I just read what you said about meat and what I don't understand is if meat was not good for us why in the Bible people eat Lamb. How would you explain back in the Bible times during Abraham and Moses when they use to offer sacrifice and kill a lamb were they cruel and going against God. And those who couldn't afford animals like Lamb would use bird eggs. In the book of Exodus chp. 12: 11,21,27,43,48 and Lev. 23:5 and 12:3, Deut. 16:7and Exodus 34:25 when the death Angel was passing and God told them to kill a Lamb and put the blood on the door post and gave the command for them to roast it. How would you explain that because up until this day the Jews still eat Lamb. Even fish, it was fish that God used to feed the 5000 people. Are you saying I can't eat fish at all. I would like to know some of the things you eat in the place of meat , fish and chicken. I really want to change my eating habit.

    A:

All meat consumption came AFTER the Fall of Man (Genesis Chapter 6). Man can eat meat while in a degenerate state but to return back to Eden he/she must go back to plant foods. Also, meat today is greatly TAINTED unlike meat 4,000 - 6,000 years ago! It's not the same. Jews are not the healthiest people, by the way! Health conscious people are!

  • Q: Can you please write or address an article about, regular supermarket meat vs. halal meat? Point out that there is primarily no difference, based on the article you previously wrote on the dangers of meat. Meat is meat! I am muslim myself, and I don't eat even halal meat.

    A:

Please read our article entitled Halal Meat vs, Supermarket Meat.

    Article:
    Halal Meat vs. Supermarket Meat

  • Q: Thank you so much for what you do. I have done the FULL BODY DETOX in May and I am getting ready to do it again this month. My cycle is very regular but now I am concern because I am late. I believe it mostly have to do with me being stress about not having one. I am not pregnant and I do not have any other medical condition. I am not totally raw foods but I do limit meat and dairy consumption. Is there a nature way to induce my menses. Stop stressing is obviously one. LOL. You help is greatly appreciated.

    A:

Take MOON CYCLE FORMULA (3 capsules), FEMALE HORMONAL FORMULA (3 capsules) and FEMALE HEALTH TEA (1 cup daily) and this should regulate your menses.

  • Q: Thank you for your responds to my letter. The reason why I want to gain weight is for a health reason not for looks. Society has nothing to do with me gaining weight. I'm 5'11 1/2" almost 6' and my weight is 137 lbs. Now to me I'm underweight for what I used to weight in my 20s. I was 150-160 lbs then but as I'd reached my 30s and having a lot of stress weigh down on me my eating habit as well my weight decrease to 120 - 130 lbs. So as you can see I had lost about 30-40 lbs. So yes I want to gain my weight so I can be happy and healthy. I understand that "gaining weight is gaining waste" if you are doing for the society or physical appearance. But that's not what I'm looking for, I'm doing it for my health. So if there a way for me to put the weight on; do you have a suggestion. I will appreciate it if not then thank you for taking the time to read my letters.

    A:

THE BEST WAY TO PUT THE WEIGHT BACK ON IS VIA EXERCISING (WEIGHT LIFTING), PERFORMING VISUALIZATION TECHNIQUES (SEEING YOURSELF WITH THE WEIGHT ON YOU) AND PERHAPS OVEREATING GOOD VEGAN FOOD

  • Q: Hetep, I've been a vegetarian for about two year's now, have not consume any meat since, but recently I begin eating shrimp, I don't drink milk, eat cheese, fish. I want to be like a vegan but, is it an issue with me eating the shrimp, and another thing I smoke weed heavy, is the smoking affecting my vegetarian diet.

    A:

    YES!!!!!!!!!!

  • Q: I heard you today on The Warren Ballentine Show. I have been trying to convince people to eat right for months. My question to you is, for the last 6 months I have not eaten beef, or pork, I have eaten chicken about 5 times, but only white meat(breast, baked). I mostly just eat fish and turkey,(turkey bacon, turkey sausage, and ground turkey). I feel a whole lot better I was wondering if eating the turkey was still causing harm? And by the way I don?t eat any dairy or bread!

    A:

Oh, please read our article " WHAT IS MEAT?" under "Articles" on our site. Your answer lies there in that article. All meat is harmful! But you're off to a great start! Peace!

  • Q: I recently completed the Full Body Detox, which I loved. Now, 2 months later, I am very interested in the weight release program. Last year, I lost 40 lbs in 8 months, in the most healthy way (good nutrition and exercise). This year, I slowly started gaining weight back, and 1 year later, I continue to gain weight much more quickly. I am still working out regularly, and eating well. Would you recommend the Weight Release Kit? I am looking to take off 20 lbs at the most. Is that realistic for this formula? However, I want to build muscle and strength as well. Can I maintain the results of the program with the directed nutrition plan, and add white meat for protein (chicken, turkey, tuna). I am also wondering if the formulas simply release excess weight, or can I expect to lose inches and lower my body fat percentage? Thanks for your time and dedication to natural health!

    A:

Glad to hear about your success with the Full Body Detox!

I would highly recommend the Weight Release Kit and Regimen. NO MEAT though! Try vegan alternatives if you must have something - but no meats!

You will release weight (waste)! Your weight is nothing but waste!

  • Q: I've made a lifestyle change about 8 months ago. I excluded all dairy, wheat, grains, gluten, legumes, sugar, oils (except olive oil). I still eat minimum amount of meat (chicken, fish) maybe 2 -3 times/wk. I'm slowly trying to eliminate meat totally as I only use to make my meals more filling. My plan is to do Ozone Therapy midway through the detox program, which also rid the body of toxins.

    A:

    Ozone therapy is beneficial!
