Soaking in a bath is an incredible sensory experience. Occupational therapists say that a child’s fine motor and visual motor skills are improved as he or she plays with bath toys. While children may be more sensitive and thrilled about the bubbles, sound of splashing water, bonding with parents or siblings, and bathroom echoes, adults can take baths too. You don’t need an excuse or special reason to take a bath; just take one.

 

A Brief History:

On this day in history, the story goes that Archimedes, a Greek mathematician and scholar, discovered that an object’s volume could be accurately measured by being submerged in water. He was taking a bath at the time, but was so ecstatic that he jumped out of the bath and ran naked through the streets of Syracuse, Greece shouting “Eureka! Eureka!”

 

The time you spend in the bath doesn’t have to be profound like it was for Archimedes, although certain people do some of their best thinking in the bath. You can have fun in the tub with your child(ren)! In a recent survey conducted with 300 U.S. mothers, 73% of them believed it was important to use bath time as a way to discover and explore.   • 58% of the moms gave their child a bath 4-7 times a week
  • 90% of the moms looked forward to bath time because their child was more relaxed and happy afterwards
  • 65% of the moms used bubbles during bath time

 

How The Temperature Affects You:

The temperature of your bath can offer a variety of therapeutic benefits. While a hot soak can provide relief from muscle pain or temporarily block your pain sensors, a warm bath can benefit the immune system. After a hard workout, a cold bath may be better to help decrease the built-up lactic acid in the bloodstream. The cold temperature works to improve recovery time.

 

Keep in mind that the time at which you take a bath can also affect the body in different ways. A warm bath in the evening may help to relax the body and induce a better night’s sleep, while a morning bath can be beneficial for creative ideas.

Can I use regular bath tap water for this bath I read somewhere that the use of chlorine water can lead to chlorine absobtion and that is not good for you.     Q: I purchesed both the FULL BODY DETOX and the ANTI-VIRAL CLEANSE AND REGIMEN. During week 3 of the Detox, I had a significant herpes breakout on by buttocks. Therefore, I opened the anti-viral kit and started doing the bath with the sea salt and the oil etc, and used it all up with in a week. Maybe I used too much but everything healed up well. Now I am into the first week of the Anti-Viral kit and on day 3 a small breakout started, but I am out of the Oil and roll on. Do you have a suggestion of something else I can put into the bath water besides the sea salt? I have some tea tree oil. I tried to purchase some Melissa oil, but could not find it.     Use tea tree oil, lavender oil, etc. in your bath water. Add hydrogen peroxide (1 cup) as well. You can oil down with OZ OIL after the bath!

    Q: My two year-old son is not circumcised and his foreskin is not pulling back is there anything I can do to get his skin to stretch without getting him circumcised because I really don't want to do that. You can clean his foreskin with warm water, sea salt, and tea tree oil (5-8 drops in the bowl of water or bath water) and you can add 1 ounce of hydrogen peroxide if you like.     Q: This is my 3rd day on the cleanse. Last night I woke up around 2:00 am and I couldn't rest because I was having cramping in my thighs and buttock area. It was uncomfortable. I got up and stretched, walked, took a epsom salt bath. Finally after 3 hours I was able to rest. When I went to work when I am actively moving around I am fine. But, when I sit for any period of time my leg and buttock cramp. What suggestions might you have? I am pleased with the cleanse, but I would like to remedy this uncomfortable feeling.     Sounds like a circulation problem! Start getting up to move around or stretch every 15-30 minutes! be religious in doing this!

    Sounds like you also need more potassium too. One banana isn't going to get the job done. You need to eat at least 5 bananas for minimum potassium. Otherwise, start taking 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in a cup of water (with a pinch of sea salt added to it) for minimum potassium.

    We would also recommend that you get a massage, preferably therapeutic deep tissue massage.

    Q: Hi Dherbs.com, how are you? About two years ago my grandmother purchased an ozone machine and I am wondering if you could answer a question I have about it: How long does the water remain "ozonated" after turning the machine off? Also, what is the most powerful way to reap it's benefits: drinking "ozonated" pure water, taking a bath in it, soaking your feet, directly into your ears, etc. Water remains ozonated for about 10-15 minutes and dissolves instantly once machine is off.

    Q: Good morning, I have used several products in the last two months. They include the Full Body Detox, Detox bath drops, Aura cleansing, Mucus buster and the Acid buster. I battle MS and I received the results of the MRI, and it shows that my ventriculers went from 8-9mm to 1.2 cm.( I was told it is atrophy) I believe I will be healed, but I am at a lost of what to do next.     Q: My daughter is currently taking Gingko Biloba + Gotu Kola (1 capsule), Magical Alchemical Elixir (2 drops twice daily), Cardio-Vascular Formula (3 capsules), Brain Tuner (3 capsules) and children detox from Dherbs. However, she still experience palpitation + mild seizure (raising of hands) every morning upon waking up.     Something is going on while she's sleeping (visiting another realm). It sounds like it could be something from a past-life. Consider placing crystals near her bed and under pillow. Crystals such as amethyst, selenite, angelite, quartz, turquoise, black tourmaline, pink or purple lepidolite, lapis lazuli, sodalite, etc.

    Q: Thanks for the great web site! MY question is what's the best way to get sodium. I thought un-refined sea salt was the best, but the salt article says "eat this salt only if you must." The great thing about pure sea salt is that it all or almost all the minerals the body needs! So what's the best way to get all the mineral and to stay in balance? Also is there a way to get Epsom salt that is sodium sulfate not magnesium sulfate? Is it a good idea to bath in the "good" Epsom salt.

    The best way to get sodium is via vegetables (i.e. celery).

    Sea salt is great source of sodium, but its a secondary source as it has to be processed from ocean water. Absent the process, it would not be available.

    But it does provide minute amounts of trace elements.

    In re Epsom salt, I haven't been able to find the sodium one.

    I stopped using Epsom salt many years ago.

    You could bath in the good Epsom salt, but sea salt is far better and more natural.
