Got An Itchy Scalp? These 5 Things Can Help The Problem

Sometimes your scalp gets itchy and you feel like the scratching will never end. Most people take a trip to the store to get anti-dandruff shampoos to fix the problem, but did you know that a lot of these shampoos have harmful chemicals that body can absorb? That’s right, and most of these shampoos don’t address the cause of your itchy scalp!

What is Dandruff?

Dandruff, which is a scalp condition, commonly causes itchiness and flakes of skin to appear. While dandruff can be embarrassing, it can often be easily remedied, in mild cases. Because skin cells are constantly renewing themselves, the older and dead ones are pushed to the surface and, in the scalp’s case, are expelled and visible on the hair. Dandruff is more common in men than in women, and people with oily skin are more likely to have it.

Rather than using chemical shampoos to remedy your itchy scalp, try the herbal remedies below!

Baking Soda

Baking soda isn’t just for your kitchen. It can actually help with teeth whitening and cleaning tough stains! When it comes to your scalp, though, baking soda can help restore the pH balance because of its alkaline nature. Relieve itchiness by dusting baking soda on your scalp and brushing it through your hair. Additionally, you can make a paste with water and baking soda, rub it on your scalp, and leave it for 10 minutes before rinsing.

Coconut Oil

Coconut works wonders for your skin, which means that it can help soothe your itchy scalp as well. Massage about a tablespoon of coconut oil into your scalp and leave it for 30 minutes. When you wash it out, you’ll notice that your hair is a little oily, but your hair will only reap the benefits of the oil. Make sure you buy organic, unrefined coconut oil.

Lemon Juice

Loaded with vitamin C and antiseptic properties, lemon juice can help relieve your itchy scalp. If your scalp isn’t too itchy, try diluting fresh lemon juice with water before pouring it on your scalp. You can also put fresh lemon juice in a spray bottle and misty your whole head. Let your scalp absorb the juice for 10 minutes and then rinse it out. You can do this ever day if you want to.

Apple Cider Vinegar

You can use apple cider vinegar the exact same way as the above lemon juice remedy. You may want to dilute it in water because it has strong pH balancing properties.

Banana And Avocado

Want to smell like you ate guacamole and banana pudding? Well, it isn’t like you are supposed to do this right before you leave the house! Mash two bananas with one avocado and massage the mixture on your scalp. We know this is odd, but it can help relieve itchiness and promote hair growth. Leave on your scalp for 30 minutes before rinsing it out.
