Help Kick Your Cold With This Tea

The Internet has made it possible for people to share all sorts of home remedies. While some can be hocus-pocus and ineffective, there are many home remedies that seem to do exactly what they’re supposed to do. Such is the case for this cold-relieving remedy. The reason for the effectiveness of this DIY drink is attributed to the powerful ingredients.

Apple Cider Vinegar:

Apple cider vinegar is highly acidic, although alkalizing in the body, and fermented from the unstrained juice of apples. The inherent fiber, acids, and high concentration of vitamin C help to boost immune function and clear up the sinuses. Raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar contains something known as “must,” the tiny bits and pieces that make this vinegar somewhat cloudy. The must contains a colony of probiotics, the mother, that increase immune function, thin mucous in the throat, and clean mucous out of the respiratory system.

Cinnamon:

Cinnamon gives oatmeal, cookies, curries, and more a unique flavor profile, but this common spice has anti-infectious and antibacterial properties that can reduce inflammation and relieve coughing or nasal congestion. People who suffer from bronchitis or scratchy throat are encouraged to either drink cinnamon tea, or to incorporate it in homemade remedies, such as the one in this article.

Raw Honey:

Everyone resorts to honey when they are sick. Whether they squeeze the honey directly into their mouths or stir it into their teas, honey is a go-to ingredient for common cold patients. Raw honey has been used as a natural cough syrup for many years, and one recent study found that a 2.5 milliliter dose of raw honey before bed helped to decrease coughing and improve sleep.
