Must-Eats For The Healthiest, Shiniest Hair Ever

healthy-hair-in-wind

There’s nothing like having long, luscious locks that look like they could be featured in those shampoo commercials. Those hair product commercials convince us to buy chemical products that actually cause hair to become damaged, limp, and undernourished over time. It turns out that one of the best things you can do for your hair is to change your diet.

To help keep your hair healthy, there are certain things you need to eat. There are also some general tips that can improve your locks. First off, it’s important to establish healthy digestion because this will help your body absorb the nutrients, which contribute to healthy hair growth. You can add probiotics, for example, fermented vegetables or sauerkraut to your diet to promote healthy gut flora.

Secondly, it’s integral to keep it natural. While eating a healthy diet strengthens your hair, using natural hair products helps to nourish, instead of damage, your hair. Try a natural shampoo or make your own beauty products using coconut oil!

Your hair requires certain nutrients, but what do you eat in order to get them? Check out the different foods below and how they help your hair.

Vitamins & Minerals:

You need vitamins and minerals if you want healthy hair. Iron and zinc are essential! While zinc gives your hair the classic shine, iron helps to carry oxygen to your hair follicles. Lucky for you, these nutrients are abundant in many plant-based, whole foods. All you need to do is eat your fair share of quinoa, beans, sesame seeds, hibiscus tea, lentils, and oranges. Make sure to vary your foods to get a wide variety of nutrients.

Healthy Fats:

Healthy fats help to keep your hair and skin healthy. Avocados, raw nuts, and virgin coconut oil have many essential fatty acids that help turn dry, brittle hair into luscious locks that look hydrated.

Apple Cider Vinegar:

If you have a build-up of hair products on your scalp or in your hair, apple cider vinegar can help clean up that build-up and balance the pH levels. Mix equal parts apple cider vinegar and water and wash your hair like normal, using a natural shampoo and conditioner. Finish washing with the apple cider vinegar solution. Leave the mixture in and then rinse it after a few minutes.

Coconut Oil:

Coconut oil has been known as the “the miracle ingredient” for your hair. It is a great hair mask that works to hydrate your hair, and it can help remedy split ends too! Apply a small scoop of coconut oil to your hair at night and wash it out in the morning. You’ll experience natural shine and bounce.

Protein:

Your hair is primarily made up of protein, so it makes sense that you need protein for healthy growth. Rather than going to town on meat and dairy products, go for whole grains, nuts, legumes, seeds, and leafy green vegetables. There are many plant-based protein sources, like spirulina, which the body can use more efficiently than animal-based protein sources.

Q: I usually wear an Afro, but now I keep my hair in braids under a hat. A month ago my hair began to break, and my scalp got very dry. So, I started using shea butter, and olive oil. It started to work, soon after I made the mistake of putting braids, with synthetic fibers in my hair. It tore the sides of my hair out. I have about 6 or more inches of my hair left. What should I do now?

    A:

Pour the oil into your palms, and then rub into you hair and then comb! Hair should be shiny, and smell good.

Q: I have experienced dramatic hair loss in the last 7 months. The Dr.'s says it's stress. I have since eliminated stress, started working out, detoxing (ionic foot bath), and eliminating the bad foods. I have been known to eat excessively in the past. Im just not sure, if it is not my hormones off track, because of the poor diet, then what. Although, I believe that poor diet leads to any illness now. I would like to find one product that can focus on the bigger picture for me which is complete well being to STOP the hair loss and grow my hair back as thick and strong as it has always been. When the hair loss started I noticed constipation at the same time. The constipation is slowly getting better, but the hair loss really concerns me. I am a model, and my hair is my trademark. Do you know of any reputable naturalpaths in Atlanta? Is there a product of yours that you could suggest?

    A:

Usually, the hormones are out of balance, usually the ovaries. Hair loss is a sign of degeneracy at the sexual reproductive level. Rebuild the endocrine system. Start by cleansing the body. Start by detoxing (Full Body Detox) followed by performing the Total Woman Cleanse. Also, learn to focus on what you desire (beautiful and healthy hair) and not what you don't want (hair fallout, hair problems). Our Mental Science Manual is good reading for healing with the mind in addition to herbs and other things.

Q: I wrote to you earlier tonight regarding my hair has recently been thinning quite a bit. I forgot to tell you that I have been periodically been dying (coloring my hair) because I have so much grey coming in. I am 40 years old and my hair is quite grey without the coloring. I recently switched to a brand that I bought in the health food store. Tell me is my hair falling out because I have been coloring it? I just started coloring it the past four years due to greying. (I know young girls color their hair all the time just to experiment. I colored because of the grey). Is the coloring getting me in trouble and causing the hair fall out. I color it myself not professionally. Tell me should I just stop all together with the coloring? What do you recommend to restore my hair?

    A:

You cannot regain your hair without regaining your overall health including your hormonal health. First, detoxify your whole body (see Full Body Cleanse). Follow the Full Body Clease with the Female Cleanse.

After these 2 cleanses (which we highly recommend) your monthly regimen should consist of the following Dherbs formulas: Thyroid Aid, Vitamin C, Electric Greens, Hair, Skin, Nails Formula and Female Hormonal Formula.

Only use natural hair products (shampoo and conditioner). Don't process your hair as much. Avoid harsh chemicals on your hair.

Q: My hair has been falling out in patches for the past few years at first they said it was eczema, next they said that I had psoriasis on my scalp and last they want to test me for lupus. I will not take the test but my scalp really looks bad. I have several balding areas on my head like parasites are eating my hair off. Do you have any recommendations? I have also noticed hair loss in other ares of my body (legs and private parts) Thanks in advance.

    A:

Read the "HAIR PROBLEMS" article but as well as our new "SKIN DISORDER = BLOOD DISORDER" article (due out next week) to understand that your condition is one of toxic blood. Perform the FULL BODY DETOX (perhaps back to back). Use natural shampoos and conditioners (purchase our ALTERNATIVE DIET AND LIFESTYLES MANUAL e-book for a listing of healthy brands). Consider a radical diet and lifestyle change. There's much you need to do, but the most important thing is to educate yourself and you can do that by reading many of our health articles for a general overview of health and what you need to do to heal on all levels.

Q: I was online searching for some natural treatments for hair growth in Black Men when I came across your article. I must say that I believe it was so on point that I decided not to look any further. I'm 44 years of age and started noticing my hair thinning when about 12 years ago. I was one of those that you wrote about in your article chasing a lifestyle that is no longer an interest to me. I did fall into some bad habits that were not good for my health off and on over the past 15 years or so more off than on. My body type I would describe as athletic. I'm tone, and strong when I exercise regularly. I'm about 150lbs @ 5'11". My diet is mostly vegetables but from time to time I feel I have to eat fish or chicken. Not necessarily prepared in the healthiest way I'm sure. I just got out of one of my "on" spells so to speak. Meaning the drinking of beer and cigarettes. I've been smoking and drinking beer now since September 2006 after not having done anything but live healthy for six years before that. As soon as my wife and I came back to the states and started working and runnign again these old destructive habits appeared again in my life. I only blame myself though. Right now my hair and skin suffer from the chemical poisoning from the habits that I just mentioned. I am prepared to take your advice about righteous living to heart and start fresh again. Is there a mild remedy that can work with me to stimulate the re-growth of my hair in the spots where it is balding in that classic balding pattern? I am generally very healthy when I doing right and even now rarely get sick. But my sickness manifest in stress and bad habits to num the pain of having to live this way when don't really want to. I quit the job that I've been working for the past 4 years for that reason and have been blessed to have some time not to grind everyday chasing after money. Now is a crucial time of healing for me, and I must take full advantage of the time. Moderation is in order for whatever you can suggest for me in the way of herbal remedies. I am sure that you can prescribe a simple overall regiment for my overall health based on what I have shared with you with an emphasis on the hair and skin. Again, thank you for writing the article. Call or write. The sooner the better.......Thank You!!

    A:

I would say first detox with the FULL BODY DETOX and get your diet right CONSISTENTLY! Constantly clean your temple! This is key! Next, perform the TOTAL MALE CLEANSE. After this, do a daily regimen of HAIR SKIN NAILS FORMULA, ELECTRIC GREENS CELL FOOD, KHEMETIAN GOLD, and MSM SULFUR. Forgive yourself of past self-inflicted harm! Stop worrying about your hair loss. Start visualizing your hair growing back. If you can see it, you will achieve it! The mind is all and problems and remedies begin in the mind! BTW: we offer phone consultations if you're interested.

Q: My 12 year old daughter is losing her hair. Her hairline has significantly receded, and her hairline on the side of her face is behind her ears, are slick. She does not have a perm and has not for about 2 years now. It is ok to use the Hair Nail formula and the MSM Sulfur together? Should I change the dosage? I am also considering the Child Liquid Cleanser and the Green 10-day Cleanser. Can they be used together? Should I change the dosage? Backgroud: She had ringworm when she was about 6, and lost hair. It grew back. She got a perm around 10. After the second application I noticed that those spots that were lost when she was 6 were going bald again. She hasn't gotten another perm.
