It’s no secret that Americans love tacos. They love tacos so much so that they ate more than 4.5 billion tacos last year. That’s about 490,000 miles of tacos or 775 million pounds of tacos, which equates to the weight of two Empire State Buildings. Whether it’s National Taco Day, Taco Tuesday, or any day of the week for that matter, Americans never seem to get enough of this social food.

 

Despite what you may think, the history of the taco is somewhat unknown. Some historians think that the word “taco” originated in the silver mines in Mexico in the 18th century. “Taco” referred to little explosives that workers used. These explosives were essentially gunpowder wrapped in pieces of paper, almost like a taquito, which acted like makeshift dynamite.

 

Others claim that the taco predates the 18th century and goes back to 16th century before the Spanish arrived in Mexico. Anthropologists say that some evidence supports the fact that inhabitants near the lake region in the Valley of Mexico consumed fish tacos. Other areas of Mexico were said to have other fillings like small insects or locusts.

 

We don’t want this to be a history lesson, but we wanted to give you some cool information surrounding a meal we have come to know and love. There are so many ways to make a delicious taco, so use the following recipes as healthy inspiration. Get your salsa, guac, and toppings out today and celebrate all that is taco!

    Q: I just started the Full Body Cleanse today! I reviewed the recipe section for ideas but I'm either allergic to the fruit or don't care for the vegetable. Based upon the Full Cleanse process, are there any other food combination or recipes I can do? I made the veggie shake but it was 'spicy' not sure why? Is there anything else I can add?     Could you explain a little further? What do you mean by allergic to the fruit? Do you have certain fruit allergies or getting a reaction to the fruit? 

    Changes in your body are going to occur. Know that your body builds up a culture of bacteria designed to digest your current diet. Your taste buds may have been hijacked by high fat, high sugar, high salt, chemically processed foods. It will take 3 days or more to begin the chance in culture. You will find as your body cleanses your taste buds will be significantly different.

    Q: I have the alternative diet and lifestyle manual and want to make sure that this applies to the respiratory condition as well. Can I have the rice bread with no gluten or wheat? or rice pasta being that I have sarcoid? Can I eat cold water fish or venison in small portions along with veggies? What about rice or soy milk or protein whey shake for breakfast once or twice a week? Thank you once again my breathing has improved greatly and I have ordered many more supplies to maintain what I have accomplished thus far due to your regimen. I am not a vegetarian so I want to make sure it is okay to have white meats. I will do whatever I have to do to live.     The manual applies when you are FINISHED with a cleanse or kit. Follow the regimen's diet. It clearly states NO COOKED FOOD. You are asking us about cooked food here. Stick to the diet plan and you will be alright! You are asking about foods no good for your condition. Whey is crap. Meat is no good. Grains are no good for you as well. They all produce too much mucus!

    Use 1 cup of fruit juice (of your liking), 1 cup of frozen fruit (i.e. banana, strawberries, mango, etc.), 1 cup of ice (optional). Blend for about 30 seconds! Drink and enjoy!

    Q: I am currently on the Full Body Detox. It's my 4th or 5th time & I love the results each time. My question is: I was told that it is okay to eat black beans while on the Full Body Detox, but only black beans.     Q: I love to drink water, but I like to drink hot water you know boiling water slightly cooled. Is there a benefit, or disadvantage to this compared to drinking room temperature water? Secondly, the water I drink is boiled water. Alkaline water is not a privilege most Kenyans have. If 56% of the population is living below poverty line you do the math. So the water I drink is tap water, that I boil to make it safe for drinking. When I get to work I have Alkaline water as my work place provides me with that provision. I think this is detailed enough for you to get the picture and help. Once again (I love you) in Swahili for spreading the gospel!

    Q: I started the full body detox today, and found that I DO NOT like the salad dressing I made with the olive oil, apple cider vinegar and lemon juice. I found I could not tolerate it on my salad. What can I do instead? Another question is... I noticed lentils on the food combining chart. Those have to be cooked. Are those actually allowed to be consumed warm? I love the raw fruits and vegetables. I don?t have a problem, cause I love salads. I just need help on what I can have on it.

    Q: My question is regarding fibroids. I have been told I have had fibroids about the size of someone 3 months pregnant. I have been told there are two in clusters. They gave me the diameters, but I don't have that information at this time. My OB/GYN has told me he believes it is causing me to be slightly anemic. I have been trying some remedies on my own like more exercise and a change in diet. My primary physician does not recommend surgery she has me taking iron ferrous sulfate supplements twice per day to help with my iron count. It seems to be helping. The only problem I have with taking the iron supplements is that it sometimes causes constipation and I am normally pretty regular. I usually eliminate 2 times per day sometimes 3. My OB/GYN on the other hand keeps pushing for me to having surgery.& amp; nbsp; They had me take BC pills, however I took myself off of them because they made me sick. I took them only for 6 months. I'm 45 and have never taken BC pills ever and I don't want to start now. I've never been pregnant. I flow heavy on my 2nd and 3rd day heavy and after that it is manageable. My cycle has improved however I want to reduce the flow on those days if possible and of course dissolve the fibroid if at all possible. Doctors tell me they won't go away unless removed. I used to be on my cycle for 7 days and 4 of those days were heavy. Now I'm normally on for 4 days and only the 2nd and 3rd day are heavy. I know that as I reach menopause they may shrink in size, however I'm still aways off from that. I eat no red meat however I do eat fish and poultry. I eat a pretty good balance of vegetables and fruits, mostly raw and steamed. I drink lactaid milk. I don't eat much dairy except cheese and eggs occasionally. I do have a weakness, I love potato chips. I know this is not good. I can feel the fibroid get bigger when I eat them. When I stop for a period of time it decreases in size. At least I feel like it does. I'm not a sugar craver, however during the week before my cycle I'll crave sweets. I usually resist. I feel it's my diet that has caused the fibroids as well as every female in my family has had a hysterectomy due to fibroids. I think it is also hereditary as well. Whatever the case I'd like to know what regimen can you put me on that will help me? The goal is to reduce or dissolve the size of the fibroid so it is not affecting my iron level. I'm also starting to see my abdomen get bigger when I've always had a flat stomach. Perhaps this is me just getting older, however I think it's the fibroids. Constant low levels over time can't be good. I hope I have provided you enough information to give me your recommendation. If not please feel free to e-mail me for any additional information you need. I'm looking for a natural cure. Outside of this condition I'm in very good health.     Q: What's the best way to start on a vegan/raw food diet?     If I do say myself, the best way to start a raw food diet is to be coached by me.     Here are some other tips to get started.

    3: Start simple with breakfast. Always start your day with a green smoothie. read "Green smoothie revolution" by forget authors name at the moment. heh.

    A sample meal plan would be.

    Breakfast: Green smoothie

    Bridge: raw bar, handful of nuts or seeds, or fruit

    Lunch: Raw wraps made from collard greens. use a base of tahini, hummus, or nut butter. Fill with sprouts and colorful veggies

    Bridge: raw bar, handful nuts or seeds, or fruit

    Dinner: Raw pasta with a large salad

    Snack: Sorbet
