Our Favorite Veggie Burgers For National Veggie Burger Day

veggie-burgers

On National Veggie Burger Day (June 5th, 2017) we encourage you to cook up a plant-based burger. You might be surprised by how delicious veggie burgers can be. We aren’t talking about the frozen patties you can buy at burger restaurants. No, no, no…making one of those is not encouraged today.

The Truth About The Veggie Patty:

Even though veggie patties are supposed to be comprised of veggies, they are usually made up of processed soy. Soy is one of the most genetically modified foods on the planet, so we say no to soy. Additionally, veggie burgers are almost devoid of nutrients because of how processed they are.

On average each veggie burger contains about 400mg of sodium. Frequently eating that much sodium can increase your risk of kidney problems or high blood pressure. Finally, most veggie burgers tend to be large enough to comprise two meals, which adds up to about 1,000 calories per burger.

What We Recommend:

Avoid veggie burgers all together and make some of these tasty, actual veggie burger recipes below. You’ll be glad you did!

Q: How often should one eat cook food? I'm a vegan, I do not consume any meat, seafood, milk what so ever. I eat water cresses like everyday so as cook food. Like white rice with black bean sauce, spinach, and pasta at time's I'll eat some Chinese fried rice, veggie roll, steamed vegetables, any advice?

    A:

You can eat cooked food as much as you like. However, try to incorporate as many nutrient-dense raw foods, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, raw nuts and seeds, into your diet to make sure you are receiving an adequate amount of nutrients.

Q: I started taking the TOTAL WOMAN CLEANSE last week. I was doing ok until Thursday. Let's just say, I've started over. What can I eat other than fruit & veggies and (1) veggie burger. Can I have oatmeal, nuts, and tofu? I'm 39 yrs old, 295 pounds, 5-5" African American trying to have a baby. After this cleanse, I wanted to get on the FIBRIOD BUSTER, would doing so be too much for my body to handle? Also, I have herpes and want to start taking the ANTI-VIRAL FORMULA you have to treat this. Can I take this while pregnant? I'm not currently, but hope to be within the next 3 mos. I get an outbreak once every 2-3 yrs. Help!

    A:

The diet is very specific so if you are having problems with the diet and feel you need to eat other things; it's your choice to do so. To learn what RAW foods are, read our article "WHAT IS RAW FOODS"? I think it is a good idea to take the ANTI-VIRAL FORMULAafter you perform the TOTAL WOMAN CLEANSE and FULL BODY DETOX. If you become pregnant, switch from detoxing and concentrate on nutrition.

Q: I just started the Full Body Cleanse today! I reviewed the recipe section for ideas but I'm either allergic to the fruit or don't care for the vegetable. Based upon the Full Cleanse process, are there any other food combination or recipes I can do? I made the veggie shake but it was 'spicy' not sure why? Is there anything else I can add? I appreciate any guidance you can provide.

    A:

Could you explain a little further? What do you mean by allergic to the fruit? Do you have certain fruit allergies or getting a reaction to the fruit?

Changes in your body are going to occur. Know that your body builds up a culture of bacteria designed to digest your current diet. Your taste buds may have been hijacked by high fat, high sugar, high salt, chemically processed foods. It will take 3 days or more to begin the chance in culture. You will find as your body cleanses your taste buds will be significantly different.

Q: Can you combine Vegetables (green leafy) with Vegetables (fruit-vegetables)? Are fruit-veggies considered fruit or veggie?

    A:

Green leafy veggies may be combined with fruit-veggies (cucumbers and tomotoes). Fruit-veggies are really fruit. You can always tell because of the seeds. Technically, anything that contains seeds is a fruit!

Q: Are vegan burgers with whole grain brown rice a good food combination?

    A:

There are too many grains in that combination. Consider a veggie side, i.e. salad. We reccomend a vegan, raw foods diet, full of fresh fruits and vegetables in order for you to receive the nutrients you need and detoxify your system.

Q: Thanks so much for all the wonderful info! I had a chance to look at some of your products and I like what I see. There is so much good stuff here. I just finished a 60 day sugar/fat cleanse. I basically cut out all diary, white sugar, flour, pasta, etc (I was already eating a veggie diet) I did very well with the cleanse and I want to keep it going. I lost almost 20 pounds, but I started eating a little differently, since I had some events for the past couple weeks and the weight started coming back on. I'm aware that I have a slow metabolism, but I do exercise (4 to 5x a week) and I generally eat pretty well. I have about another 40 pounds I want to loose and continue to be healthy and energetic. Also, my husband and I are also trying to have our first child. Do you have any suggestions?

    A:

We would recommend that you give our Full Body Cleanse a try. It will help you lose additional weight and rejuvenate your body. Once completed, try the Fertility Kit, which is a 20 Day program and regimen that consists of herbs, elixirs, affirmations, inhaler, and dietary program to help naturally enhance fertility.

Q: Greetings & Namaste, First, thank you for being U-activated! So many potential energies unable to convert into kinetic activities because of our Earthly baggage(s). Personally, I haven't found the right formula to keep my beautiful curves, which is the major reason I am not vegan/raw now. In my perfect world, I'd have a great-tasting, non-dairy,wheat & gluten source of protein, juiced exotic veggie/fruit smoothies, yummy raw nuts/raisins, and absolutely no meat- the fountain of youth, literally, running thru my body! As i'm sure the cognitive wheels of your expertise are spiraling ready solutions, I ask that you also factor in social-economic status, and workout regiment. From my perspective, the price of health food is aggressively over-inflated compared to the affordability of processed and junk foods; add to that a general inaccessibility to the impoverished & disenfranchised, and dysfunctional eating psychologies impregnating entire families (for generations). I prefer high energy, high impact, anaerobic & weight-lifting training activities. So, you can see a petite person's dilemma. Thanks so much for your time and thoughts. Ms. Tiffany

Being raw or vegan does not have to be hard or expensive. The most inexpensive food are rice and beans. If you are budget consciense you should gravitate towards those foods. Stach based foods are super cheap. You should check out the book "eating vegan on 4 dollars a day" or any of Dr. Mcdougal's programs.

I run an online health/fitness/nutrition coaching program that can be found at www.theveganeffect.com. There you might find your answers.

Exercise programs do not have to be expensive either. I am a master at building fitness plans with the minimal of equipment. If all you have is your body weight than I can build you a 90 day plan. The same goes if all you have is a resistance band, exercise ball, dumbells, kettlebell, etc.

If you need any advice or have specific questions you should check out my website and message me there.

Q: My husband has scar tissue on his head. He was hit on the head with a bat by some attackers (years ago). The top of his head is extremely hard like a rock --the entire thing is scar tissue. In the back towards his neck but still on his head is a larger patch of raised scar tissue. It is so severe that he has lost and appears to be losing more hair off the top of his head (I think it's because his skin isn't breathing or getting oxygen. He's tried everything from drinking Aloe Vera and applying this to all sorts of products. Currently he is using the skintight products (razor/hair bump, as well as the coco butter) however after reading your article about alcohol, I know they contain this so I don't want him to keep using it even though we are seeing some larger results than we ever have before with that product. We are both vegetarians. He has been a vegetarian for 15 years. He used to eat soy burgers etc., but has completely cut that out for about 3 months. He is now in his third week of raw food (as prescribed by your website) just drinking the green juice from Bolthouse (algae, wheatgrass, spinach etc.) and eating large spinach and vegetable raw salads. We are using the recipe that you included in your e-books. We will continue on a diet like this for the next year while we cleanse our bodies and keep this lifestyle. However, with all of that, my question for you is-- Do you have any recommendations for him to remove his scar tissue? I thought the OZ OIL would help. In addition, I'd like to buy him the FIBRIOD BUSTER and/or any other fibroid kits- but the website says they are for women (only?). Any recommendations you could make would be most appreciated.

    A:

I would tell you to keep using natural products (shea butter, OZ OIL, FIBRIOD BUSTER, MSM SULFUR, etc.) and let the healing take place at its own course. The more you focus on what you don't like (his head injury) the more it will magnify (not heal). His body is programmed to heal and it will but you must remain open to let the body heal at its own pace. Just continue to eat, think, and live right. He'll heal! Just give it time! Let nature do her thing!

Q: I seen your website and I was interested in purchasing the male cleanse and as I was reading everything that it came with then I seen that it came with a moonstone crystal that is the only thing that I really don't believe in because on you all's website it states that it can do all of these weird mystical type things such as grant wishes and cleanse the human heart which in my non judgmental opinion sounds sorta like voodoo mantra type stuff and I am not interested in doing that so I would like to know would this cleanse work effective without the moonstone crystal or would it work less if I did not go through with the procedure of the moonstone crystal because to tell you the truth that is only 1 of the things that I would not want to do concerning the total male cleanse. Also I seen on you all's website that on the dietary regimen for the total male cleanse you all have a circle around the coke, burger and fries and I can understand that a person would have to eat healthy but would this mean that I would have to go on the strict all organic and all raw diet for the whole 3 weeks because I would not be able to be really adhere to and follow the real rigid and strict diet if that is what the male cleanse required so according to what I have told you all would the total male cleanse be a waste of my time since I would not be willing to follow the strict diet and neglect doing the moonstone crystal procedure.

    A:

The Male Cleanse would undoubtedly work, even without the moonstone crystal. The crystal simply helps to heal on a subtle body (energy) level.

We strongly suggest consuming a raw foods diet while performing the Cleanse. In order to achieve the best results, a raw foods diet is ideal.

Q: I was on the computer, I came across the article on the big ole butt. In the article you said (paraphrase) that successful women tend to be sick. Are you saying that these women should not try to be successful? in my opinion if black women are overweight, they cannot blame the corporate lifestyle, they have to blame themselves. We are all in control of our own lifestyle, those same corporate black women, if they were working 9-5 at some factory somewhere, they would still be fat. I do agree with you when you stated that many black women lack will power to fast. I think that we lack will power to do anything that is beneficial to us. Yes I do agree with you that the steatopygia female does look like a "pig". their faces tend to take on pig like facial features. Yes you are right that miss steatopygia tends to wear tight pants, (in my opinion that type of backside is stinky looking). So yes there is some parts of the article I do agree with. Far too many of us black women, tend to be stubborn and too defensive. I am glad that your site does exist, because far too many sites like to blame "whitey". You are one of the few black health specialists, that put the blame on us, and you should because our lifestyle is our responsibility.

    A:

No, these women should BECOME successful, but not lose their health and/or souls in the process of becoming successful. The corporate sector has played a great "role" in Black women gaining weight because the jobs are too sedentary and they have access to too much sugary junk which converts to fat because corporate jobs don't allow them to burn off the fat. I've seen this firsthand with many once fine sisters who blew up like houses within a 5 year period. Corporate America was the venue in which Black women CHOSE to let their health go by the wayside, at least the majority of them. Thank you for sharing your views and sentiments on this Dear Sista! Much obliged!

Q: I am a 49 yr. old black female. When I was younger I had severe cystic acne that left me with what the dermatologist calls "ice pick scaring" and enlarged pores. I had 2 full face dermabrasions in my 30s and have been on retina A from then up until now. I have a pretty healthy diet and exercise routine. My Father and a couple of Uncles of mine also had the same type of skin problems, left with the same aftermath. I use French green clay masks which slightly reduce the look of the large pores and a sugar, honey, and lemon scrub (I make it at home) and I use it on my face. I'm not unattractive, but my skin looks rough and dull and pitted on my cheeks and nose. All the doctors talk about scar revision (cutting),laser treatments, chemical peels, and all sorts of invasive surgeries. I don't want to go that route again and I feel bad about the way I look sometimes. Are there ANY suggestions that you can give that will help me?
