We have said many times that waiting until you are sick or unhealthy to make changes in your life is not the way to live. It is best to try and live a healthier lifestyle in order to prevent yourself from becoming sick. Could people live healthier lives, free of medications, if they ate healthy, plant-based diets? Would the world be a better place if people stopped consuming factory-farmed meat, dairy, poultry, and eggs? These are a couple questions that the documentary, What the Health, focuses on.

 

In this documentary, Kip Anderson attempts to inform people about the dangers of eating meat. This isn’t Anderson’s first outing in this field, though. His previous film, Cowspiracy, showcased how eating animal products negatively harms the environment. He sort of picks up where he left off, but pries companies like the American Heart Association (AHA), the American Diabetes Association (ADA), and the American Cancer Society (ACS) to figure out how they can recommend meals that contain animal products, when animal products are causing the diseases they are attempting to fight.

 

Anderson presents a lot of research that points to the dangers of an animal-based diet and backs it up with doctoral interviews. Using various information from different studies, Anderson works to point out the fact that companies like the ADA, ACS, and AHA suggest to eat animal products on their websites because they receive funding from fast food industries, meat companies, and dairy industry tycoons, among others. This speaks to Anderson’s theory that the government is trying to make you sick.

 

One of our favorite pieces of information in the documentary is that type 2 diabetes is not caused by eating sugar and carbs. Type 2 diabetes is caused by eating unhealthy fatty foods that make it hard for your body to regulate blood sugar. And they make the clarification that type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease, manifesting differently than type 2.

 

What is the takeaway from What the Health? It basically says that the solution to a healthy body, environment, and future is going vegan, but it does not explain how to transition into a plant-based diet and lifestyle. Not everyone knows what foods to buy or what to make. You can eat plant-based and still be unhealthy. You could only eat French fries, baked potatoes, carrots, and tons of processed foods and still consider yourself a vegan. This movie will definitely get you interested in learning more about plant-based diets, but we hope our readers will do research before jumping “all in” to a vegan or vegetarian diet. Here are some tips to help you transition into a healthier diet.

 

One of the easiest things you can do to start a transition is to adopt a “Meatless Monday” ritual. Focus on eating nothing but fruits, vegetables, and legumes that day. You can also try to do half the week without meat or animal products and see the difference in how good your body feels when those things aren’t in your daily diet.

 

You don’t need meat, dairy, or eggs to get protein. The protein you get from animals is essentially recycled. Go straight for the source by eating leafy greens, nuts and seeds, beans, and sprouts. Check out our article about plant-based protein sources here.

    Q: My question is regarding fibroids. I have been told I have had fibroids about the size of someone 3 months pregnant. I have been told there are two in clusters. They gave me the diameters, but I don't have that information at this time. My OB/GYN has told me he believes it is causing me to be slightly anemic. I have been trying some remedies on my own like more exercise and a change in diet. My primary physician does not recommend surgery she has me taking iron ferrous sulfate supplements twice per day to help with my iron count. It seems to be helping. I'm 45 and have never taken BC pills ever and I don't want to start now. I've never been pregnant. I flow heavy on my 2nd and 3rd day heavy and after that it is manageable. My cycle has improved however I want to reduce the flow on those days if possible and of course dissolve the fibroid if at all possible. Doctors tell me they won't go away unless removed. I used to be on my cycle for 7 days and 4 of those days were heavy. Now I'm normally on for 4 days and only the 2nd and 3rd day are heavy. I know that as I reach menopause they may shrink in size, however I'm still aways off from that. I eat no red meat however I do eat fish and poultry. I eat a pretty good balance of vegetables and fruits, mostly raw and steamed. I drink lactaid milk. I don't eat much dairy except cheese and eggs occasionally.     Q: Hi it's me again. I just read what you said about meat and what I don't understand is if meat was not good for us why in the Bible people eat Lamb. How would you explain back in the Bible times during Abraham and Moses when they use to offer sacrifice and kill a lamb were they cruel and going against God. And those who couldn't afford animals like Lamb would use bird eggs. In the book of Exodus chp. 12: 11,21,27,43,48 and Lev. 23:5 and 12:3, Deut. 16:7and Exodus 34:25 when the death Angel was passing and God told them to kill a Lamb and put the blood on the door post and gave the command for them to roast it. How would you explain that because up until this day the Jews still eat Lamb. Even fish, it was fish that God used to feed the 5000 people. Are you saying I can't eat fish at all.     All meat consumption came AFTER the Fall of Man (Genesis Chapter 6). Man can eat meat while in a degenerate state but to return back to Eden he/she must go back to plant foods.     Q: I see also that you recommend a complete diet with these programs. I am guessing its a vegan diet right? I wanted to ask something on that is coconut milk and coconut oils ok for that? I personally had a very hard time trying to eat that many vegetables and many ph balance vegans seem to think fruits aren?t good either. I eat that many vegetables one it tears me up the next day and two I just cant consume enough calories that way. I can try and make up for it by eating things like almonds but I eat to many almonds I get the same problem the next day. Now coconut milk (unsweetened) and a digestive enzyme works for me for picking up extra calories.... but I hear very conflicting information about coconut and its saturated fat content.     Q: I am interested in starting the Full Body Detox program. At this time, I would like to know which program is best for me. At current, I have started removing things from my diet as of 2 weeks ago (pork, chicken, red meat, I'm trying with the fish but it's hard!)     Q: I just purchased the Pancreas Kit for children, for my 4 year old who was diagnosed with type one diabetes. I have been feeding her a raw diet of just vegetables. The diet includes no dairy, no grains, and fruit for a week. I also started the Pancreas kit last week too. I was wondering if there is any reason why her blood sugar levels would go up? All she is eating is veggies, and her sugar levels are at 300 most of the time. Even if she doesn't eat anything, it still goes up to 300.     Q: I've made a lifestyle change about 8 months ago. I excluded all dairy, wheat, grains, gluten, legumes, sugar, oils (except olive oil). I still eat minimum amount of meat (chicken, fish) maybe 2 -3 times/wk. I'm slowly trying to eliminate meat totally as I only use to make my meals more filling.     Q: I just completed the Full Body Cleanse about two weeks ago and started the Pancreas Formula for my pancreas...     Q: I was online searching for some natural treatments for hair growth in Black Men when I came across your article. I must say that I believe it was so on point that I decided not to look any further. I'm 44 years of age and started noticing my hair thinning when about 12 years ago.
