Vegetarian Protein Sources You Need To Know About

muscle-guy-salad

Some people like to eat vegetarian for animal rights, while others just enjoy feeling healthier. The vegetarian diet gets picked on, so to speak, because people think that eating meat is the only way to get protein. Little do meat eaters know that the protein you can get from plant-based foods are better for your body.

Protein is necessary for muscle growth, healthy nails, and enzyme and hormone production. For the average person, meat is the typical go-to when it comes to getting protein. Unless you are raised meat-free, it’s hard to imagine feeling sustained without meat in your diet. Believe it or not, there are plenty of plant-based protein sources. The body can absorb plant-based protein more easily than protein from meat because meat often contains chemicals and hormones that the body can’t process. Here are plant-based protein sources you need to know about.

Chia Seeds:

These may not have the highest protein content, but these tiny seeds pack a nutritious punch. One tablespoon of chia seeds contains 2.5 grams of protein, being one of the best sources of protein for vegans and vegetarians. Additionally, they are rich in amino acids!

Lentils:

If you are a vegan or vegetarian, lentils are one of the top protein sources. Weighing in at 18 grams of protein per 1 cup, lentils provide carbs that the body slowly digests. This helps you stay fuller for longer.

Spirulina:

Sometimes known as the vegetable protein from the sea (nobody calls it that but maybe it can become a thing???), spirulina is an awesome superfood that has 8 grams of protein in every 30 milliliters. It can be an excellent protein boost to your morning smoothie. Spirulina also contains thiamin and iron!

Quinoa:

When it comes to quinoa, you have to make sure to cook it with spices. Most people don’t like it because it can be bland if left unseasoned. Quinoa is rich in fiber, which is beneficial for digestion, and essential amino acids that help to promote muscle growth. Oh yeah, it’s got protein too!

Beans:

Beans are rich in amino acids, making them a complete plant-based protein source. When we say “complete,” we mean that the protein source contains the 9 essential amino acids that the body can’t make on its own. Plus, beans help you feel full and they enhance brain, muscle, and heart health.

Other Notable Plant-Based Protein Sources:

  • Green Peas
  • Hemp Seeds
  • Steel Cut Oats
  • Wild Rice
  • Spinach
  • Guava
  • Almonds
  • Walnuts
  • Broccoli
  • Asparagus
  • Cauliflower
  • Watercress

Q: Is necessary to continue food combining after completing FULL BODY DETOX in 20 Days? For example can you consume sweet fruit with sub acid & acid fruit also starches and vegetable (beans) proteins together? I learned in Nutrition that starches (rice) and beans are complete protein when combined together that our body needs. Are you at risk for protein deficiency if consuming vegan diet?

    A:

IT'S YOUR CHOICE! OF COURSE IT'S BEST TO CONTINUE TO DO SO. IT'S UP TO YOU, BELOVED! I PERSONALLY DON'T RECOMMEND IT. NOT TRUE! YOU CAN'T GET PROTEIN FROM COOKED FOODS REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE FOOD IS. OF COURSE NOT, UNLESS YOU ARE IGNORANT TO PROTEIN, REAL PROTEIN, HOW AND WHERE TO GET IT.

Q: I just began the cleanse. My concern is that I am not getting enough protein. I have been eating nuts, and I will not eat uncooked beans or peas. What can I do to get more protein while I am on this 20 day regiment?

A: Great question. There is protein in a lot of the vegetables that we eat. Think about it like this, elephants are vegetarians, and they are some of the biggest/strongest animals around. Eat plenty of leafy green vegetables (kale, spinach, etc.), goji berries, nuts, broccoli, avocados, beets, cauliflower, and asparagus.

Q: What do you tell someone that believes that eating meat is better than eating products not made of meat such as wheat pasta, brown rice, etc. My wife eats way too much meat, and she always says that she needs it for the protein. She doesn't work out or exercise regularly so I see it as just an excuse to continue the same old behavior. She's 5'6" and 205lbs and I think she should weigh 140 - 145 max. She's 43 years old and suffers from high blood pressure and swelling in the legs.

    Q:

    A:

Herbal supplements are not drugs. The Vegan Protein Powder Mix contains natural occurring protein, and will supplement your diet at a healthy level. We do not offer measurements in mg per capsule because there is no true way to measure how much protein is in an organic item. Many companies offer that measurement as a way to get you to buy more of their products, but it is typically just a guesstimate. For instance, we could say that there is "x" amount of protein inside of each capsule but some of the capsules may be denser than others etc. Hopefully this offers an honest explanation of why we do not do this. If you are using it to gain muscle mass while lifting weights, this product should suffice, and can be mixed in an Almond Shake or with other such ingredients that are high in organic protein to help you reach your goal.

Q: I have progressive FSGS (renal disease) my creatine is currently 3.03 and I am spilling approx 630 mil of protein in a 24 hr period. I was diagnosed with this disease at the age of 12. The Lord already revealed to me in a vision that I would be free from it once I eliminate meat from my diet. Please help me to rid my body of the "need" it feels for meat so that I can be cured. I know a detox can do it; I just need to know which one.

Q: I've been taking the Full Body Cleanse for almost 2 weeks. In general, I feel much better. My question is if I can eat spirulina. and/or Ultimate Meal (mainly is Quinoa, millet, brown rice, yellow pea protein, spirulina and another natural ingredients) as breakfast or lunch. In case you do not know Ultimate Meal you can see it at www.ultimatelife.com Thank you. Ricardo. Your customer service rep told me after full body detox is good to take cholesterol formula. Is enough or Do I need to take lose weight tabs? after the full body cleanse? I am taking care of my diet and exercise 3 -4 times a week 2 hours each with stationary bike or tread mill and exercises with weights.

    A:

Spirulina and Ultimate Meal are excellent supplementary products to take in order for your body to receive an adequate amount of protein while on the cleanse.

Yes, take Cholesterol Formula (and Intestinal Cleanser) after you complete the cleanse. These products will serve as a transitionary period as your body slowly accustoms to returning back to normal routines.

Q: Can I continue to take my organic hemp protein?

    A:

You can consume organically natural hemp protein while on the cleanses, however we prefer to let the herbs work on it's own. A lot of people feel like they need an additional amount of protein while on the cleanse, but the best source of protein is within the foods we consume.

Q: I just ordered two 20 day full body cleanses one for me and one for my husband... He was wondering if he can still take basic protein powder while on the cleanse?

    A:

I would advise against protein powders during detoxing. The main focus of detoxing is to give the liver and kidneys a break so they can clean house. Adding protein means less time for your liver to detox.
