Aspartame is a crystalline protein that is derived from two amino acids: phenylalanine and aspartic acid.
The FDA refers to aspartame as a food additive, never a drug. A drug on the label of a Diet-Coke might discourage the consumer.
Since aspartame is classified as a food additive, adverse reactions are not reported to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration).
Aspartame is 200-300 times sweeter than sugar. Just as sugar, it has its list of adverse reactions and side effects, which include:
- ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder)
- Candida Albicans (yeast infections)
- Tooth decay, and
The list of adverse reactions and side effects include, but is not limited to:
- Brain lesions
- Mood alterations
- Skin polyps
- Brain tumors
- Various cancers, and
- Short-term memory loss
Aspartame is economically cheaper and sweeter than sugar, which is very appealing to soda beverage companies. It is also very appealing to weight watchers who are seeking to lose weight because of its low calories.
Aspartame Converts to Formaldehyde
What most diet soda beverage drinkers don’t know, is that aspartame, once inside the human body, converts into formaldehyde!
Biological and medical knowledge lets us know that the natural human body temperature is 98.6, which means that any time you consume a substance made with aspartame, the aspartame in those substances is going to convert into formaldehyde as a chemical by-product.
Aspartame is found in over 1,200 food products as a so-called food additive, including diet soda beverages, chewing gum, non-dairy creamer, and candy. It is most popularly referred to as Nutra-Sweet.
One would be wise to get off of all synthetic sweeteners such as Splenda, Equal, Nutra-Sweet, sucrose (white table sugar), and brown sugar. Instead, there are many natural sweeteners that curb the craving without the negative side effects, such as:
- Maple syrup (Grade B or C)
- Agave nectar
- Stevia (plant, should be green)
Though DHerbs does not recommend honey as a natural sweetener or for food consumption purposes, however, honey is far better and safer alternative than any man-made chemical sweeteners.
To detoxify your body from the harmful effects stemming from the residues of using harmful sweeteners, DHerbs offers these solutions:
