The immune system does not provide immunity. It is the body’s defense system. A healthy immune system protects the body from infection caused by bacteria, fungi and parasites. If these organisms penetrate the body, then the immune system destroys them.
There are several types of immune cells-and they behave in very interesting ways. Some are designed to attack all invading organisms; others are designed to attach specific types of organisms. Some are designed to physically attack, while others release chemicals designed to destroy.
Types of Immune Diseases and Disorders
There are many different types of immune diseases and disorders. The most common are:
- Autoimmune diseases
- Immune complex diseases
- Immune deficiency disorders
Allergies are essentially the body “crying wolf,” when an otherwise harmless substance penetrates the body and the body, in turn, decides it’s something that needs to be destroyed.
There are times when the immune system’s recognition system breaks down, causing healthy cells and tissue to be destroyed. The reason why these diseases happen is unknown, although a combination of things are suspected, including environmental exposure, sunlight exposure, viruses, hormonal imbalance and certain drugs.
Immune complex diseases
Usually immune complexes are rapidly eliminated from the body. When they aren’t, they become trapped in organ tissue, creating inflammation and tissue damage. Examples of immune complex diseases are Malaria and viral hepatitis.
Immune deficiency disorders
Immune deficiency disorders happen when the immune system is missing one or more of its vital parts. They are usually the result of another disease or disorder. For example: AIDS is an immune deficiency disorder cause by HIV.
Healing the Immune System
Beware of using commercial super market brand household cleaning supplies, as they can compromise the immune system. If you use these harsh chemicals, make sure you open up all the windows in your home. If you have an ozone or oxygen machine, you’d be wise to run it while cleaning your home.
Reputable Earth-friendly household cleaning supply brands include:
- Dr. Bronners
- Seventh Generation
- Bon Ami, and
- Earth Friendly Products
These Earth-friendly brands can be purchased at good health food stores such as Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe’s, Erewon, Wild Oats, and Nature Mart.
There are many immune-boosting herbs and plants that one can consume to help to fortify the immune system, such as:
- St. John’s Wort
Crystals are incredibly helpful in boosting the immune system. Our favorites are:
- Moss Agate
- Brown Jasper
- Lapis Lazuli
Crystal elixirs are made by adding stones/crystals to distilled water sat in sunlight for a minimum of 24 hours. The properties of the crystals are imbued in the memory of the water. Elixirs work at the cellular and subtle levels of existence.
Essential oils can also support the immune system, especially frankincense and Myrrh. They can be added to a diffuser or added to bath water.
You can physically boost, strengthen and invigorate the so-called immune system by consuming a diet rich or high in alkaline foods, mainly green cruciferous vegetables.
Meat can lower immunity because every time you eat meat you are allowing serious foreign invaders (particles) into your body. This is why your defense cells can increase after eating meat and dairy products.
Taking Vitamin C (ascorbic acid), herbs of Echinacea and Goldenseal, and other immune boosting substances only address the physical immune or defense system.
