A pair of contradictory studies have recently come out about relationships and waist lines.

Food and singledom is the subject of two recent studies that come down on either side of whether or not bachelorhood does a body good. One found that single people lean toward being skinnier than those who cohabitate. The other found that living with someone means you tend to eat healthier than if you live alone.

Here we have a pretty interesting comparison of two studies. One study found that those who are single are less fat than those who aren’t. The other study found that those who are coupled tend to eat a lot better. We want to open it up to you fine folk and let us know — what are your experiences with getting into relationships when it came to your waistline? Did you and your partner gain weight?

    Q: I started the full body detox today, and found that I DO NOT like the salad dressing I made with the olive oil, apple cider vinegar and lemon juice. I found I could not tolerate it on my salad. What can I do instead? Another question is... I noticed lentils on the food combining chart. Those have to be cooked.     Q: My mother has just found out from a blood test that Hep C was found in her liver/ blood.     Q: I recently found out the man I have been involved with, fathered another child with someone else. It really hurts, and I dont know if I can get over it.     Q: I just finished your article re: Beta Prostate & Prostate care which I found interesting. In the advertising of beta prostate it is mentioned that the active ingredient in saw palmetto, pygeum, etc., is betasitasterol, which claims to contain 300 mg from sugar cane. The claim is also made that it would take 1,000 pills of saw palmetto to equal 300 mg of betasitasterol. My question is, does your product contain this amount of betasitasterol & is it necessary to have this amount of ingredient in order for the product to be effective?

    The product is STANDARDIZED meaning it has been tampered with. Regular saw palmetto and pygeum do not naturally contain 1000 mg of betasitosterol. They are standardizing it to make it potent to deal with the prostate which they don't want to naturally take care of so they mess with the herbs and make it more potent to deal or treat the prostate gland that they don't want to naturally take care of. It's like products for lactose intolerant. Instead of telling folks to avoid certain things because they are lactose intolerant, they make a drug so that lactose intolerant people can keep on unwisely eating things they shouldn't due to being lactose intolerant.     Q: Hello, I've always heard that people can't "Spot loose" when it comes to weight, however, I've done it but don't really know what it was that cause the "spot weight" lose. My question and dilemma is: I tend to gain weight in my breast area and mid section but no where else. I am apple shaped. I know it isn't good for the heart and I want to loose mostly my breast. What would you recommend eating or not and what type of exercise would you recommend. Thank you!

    Spot losing is a myth or sorts. I'm not saying it can't happen but it's highly unlikely and completely uncontrollable. Your body picks and chooses where it gains/loses weight and they are not always in the same spots. Some people gain weight proportionately and some gain it in certain spots (hips, thighs, breasts, belly). I do get asked this question a lot from women "How do I lose weight in my gut or hip area but not in my breast?". The truth is that there is no real answer for that.  Your own spot loss was probably just luckiness and apararently exactly where you needed it to.

    As far as eating is concerned nothing causes the body to fat more than these two things. One is a high nutrient density, high alkaline, high raw, low fat, vegan diet. The other is juice fasting. Both are extremely helpful.

    Foods know and studied to cause weight loss are beans, greens, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, raw apple cider vinegar, oatmeal, and fruits and veggies. Noe of which have been conclusive in causing the body to lose fat in certain spots of the body.

    The best and most efficient exercises for weight loss are cardio exercises. That is however only part of the equation. Learning how to interval train is your most efficient way to burn fat. You may burn more fat at 60 percent of your maximum heart rate but if you interval train where you change your intensity and heart rate you burn more calories in less time and more fat. Also with low intensity cardio the burn effect ends when you end your training as where interval training keeps your metabolism stoked for hours after training maximizing your burn.

    Here is an example of interval training

    4:30 seconds warm up (moderate speed)

    30 seconds sprint

    4:30 seconds recovery (moderate speed)

    30 seconds sprint

    4:30 seconds recovery (moderate speed)

    Continue intervals for anywhere from 20-30 minutes

    The second best way is to do high rep, low - moderate weight exercises. Circuit training where you go from one exercise to another with as little as 30 seconds rest in between sets.

    Here is an example:

    Jumping jacks 1 minute

    Crunches 1 minute

    Pushups 1 minute

    Squats 1 minute

    3 sets of 12 alternating lunge to shoulder press

    3 sets chest press x 12

    3 sets of bent over rows x 12

    3 sets of bicep curls

    3 sets of triceps extensions

    1 minute of jump squats

    1 minute of Lunge and press

    You want to focus more on exercises that move more than one muscle. Focus on compound exercises (squats, pushups/chest press, pull-up/lat pull downs). Also focus on exercises that make you move like jumping jacks, mountain climbers, and burpees.

    Q: I had a hysterectomy 8 years ago. I have been single for a number of years due to the death of my husband. I now have a wonderful man in my life and I enjoy making love with him.     Q: My co-worker has a 1 year old grand-daughter, who they recentlly found has 3 kidneys. This was discovered because she has constant fevers, and was not able to hold down any foods. The hospital she is currently taking the child to, has not assisted with any part of the child getting better. They seem to be giving her the run around. For example, scheduling appointments then cancelling etc. My co-workers seems to think, they are not getting fare treatment. Due to the fact her grand-daughter is receiving medicaid (government assisted health care). She says that they keep prescribing tylenol for the fever, and now the little girl may have a bladder infection. She has been, giving the 1 year old daily doses of tylenol for a few months now. I think that this should be stopped. Your knowledge is greatly appreciated.
