Q: I am just becoming a vegan going on 20 years in June, and it takes a lot of discipline. I was wondering if you knew any good recipes for some good vegan style dishes. I really want to establish a vegan restaurant. I have purchased your Alternative Diet and Lifestyle Manual, and I know its healthier to eat vegan. But, I also understand its not the healthiest due to soy products. Is their still away to satisfy my appetite and well being at the same time?
We have a couple of articles you might be interested in.
Q: I have incorporated fish into my diet because I have been craving. Is moderation okay.... meaning my fruits for breakfast a regular lunch with salad and a salad for dinner okay to pretty much moderate other foods? It is challenging for me to become a vegan. Do you have any suggestions on how to still eat healthy to maintain an alkalized body with certain foods with moderation that are not raw? I still drink my green veggies at least twice a day. I am praying that my results will be negative.
FISH IN MODERATION IS OKAY FOR YOU. TO MAINTAIN ALKALINITY, DESPITE THE ACID-FORMING THINGS YOU EAT, JUST MAKE SURE TO EAT AS MANY GREEN FOODS AS POSSIBLE. YOU CAN ALSO TAKE 6 CAPSULES OF ELECTRIC GREENS CELL FOOD TOO! YOU’RE DOING GOOD SO KEEP YOUR THOUGHTS POSITIVE AND ON YOUR DESIRES.
Q: What's the best way to start on a vegan/raw food diet? I am not sure what to eat to make sure I would get a nutritious diet-you may not be able to go into that much detail but how can I get sample meal plans for breakfast, lunch and dinner incorporating this type of diet-perhaps there is somewhere on the web I find something like this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
If I do say myself, the best way to start a raw food diet is to be coached by me. I run a 6 month health coaching program that is 60-90 percent raw and 100 percent vegan/gluten free/ allergy free. You can find out more about my program at www.theveganeffect.com. I am running a special of half off my program if you sign up before march 1st.
Here are some other tips to get started.
2: Read books like "beauty detox solution" by snyder, "80/10/10" by Dr. Graham., or "The Paradigm diet" by Adam Dave
3: Start simple with breakfast. Always start your day with a green smoothie. read "Green smoothie revolution" by forget authors name at the moment. heh.
A sample meal plan would be.
Breakfast: Green smoothie
Bridge: raw bar, handful of nuts or seeds, or fruit
Lunch: Raw wraps made from collard greens. use a base of tahini, hummus, or nut butter. Fill with sprouts and colorful veggies
Bridge: raw bar, handful nuts or seeds, or fruit
Dinner: Raw pasta with a large salad
Hope that answers your question,

Q: Do you have any suggestions for a breakfast, lunch & dinner schedule? I'm making the transition to a healthier diet due to fibroid tumors. Currently I have broken my eating menu into 3 parts, breakfast - fruits, lunch - salads, & dinner - baked potato or any other heavy meal I intend to eat. Is this a good start? Any suggestions you can give on healthier meals for dinner are most appreciated.
Please purchase our ALTERNATIVE DIET AND LIFESTYLES MANUAL e-book for the alternatives you seek. It's a great little resource, especially for new people starting their transition diet. You off to a good start, Beloved!
Q: Truth indeed. I just finished watching this youtube video, on mass control, fluoridation, and mercury poisoning. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?Feature=player_embedded). I wondered if there were any herbs, or natural rememdies that can counteract this? I am in my mid 30s, and feel as though I am going through alziehmers (growing forgetfulness, absent-mindedness, foggy thinking, ADHD, hypersensetivity to noises so as to find it almost impossible to concentrate). I have my "Back to Eden" Book, I will continue digging for answers there too.
Don't look for answers or solutions primarily from sources outside of the body. There are herbs, but first use your mind. Mental healing! will your healing into fruition. Good herbs that will assist include Gingko Biloba, Ginseng (all types), and Gotu Kola. Dherbs.com Brain Tuner, CNS, and Ethereal Bliss are also helpful for your condition.
Q: I am very interested in Dherbs herbal formulas - they appear to be high quality, good formulas. I have a question for you. I eat a vegan diet, about 50% raw foods (sometimes more), get regular exercise, and love to spend time in nature. I am a generally healthy person who rarely gets sick. I have healed myself from asthma and allergies and other ailments by living a healthy lifestyle and using herbs and energy work. However, I do still suffer from cramping during my period (probably endometriosis) and from cervical dysphasia due to HPV. I would love to get these cleared up, too! What do you recommend in terms of your herbal formulas? For example, should I do the whole body detox first, then start in with the ailment specific recommendations, or start everything all at once? Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciate.
We would recommend that you first start out with the Full Body Cleanse, followed by the Anti-Viral Kit, followed by the Female Cleanse. These should help you to clear up those unwanted reproductive ailments and provide essential nutrients for female health.
After this series of cleansing, we also recommend the the following supplements in order to to stay on the path towards whole body wellness.
Q: I feel I'm not in the best of healthy at the age of 34 but what is a good way to get myself and family healthy. My husband and I need to lose weight and get healthy this is the heaviest we both have been in our lives. We need your help and we want to start a family. What do you recommend please help!
I run a vegan health coaching program over Skype that you may be interested in. please check out the website at www.theveganeffect.com.
It is my philosophy that we shouldn't be losing weight to get healthy we should be getting healthy to lose weight. If losing weight is your focus it will be temporary but if you get healthy it will be permanent.
The best way to lose weight in a healthy way is to change nutrient density of your foods (eat more raw vegan low fat foods) and to do a full body detox or cleanse. You can see detoxing options at www.dherbs.com
Hope this helps,

Q: I don't know if you remember or know, but there was a Vegan Couple that had a newborn baby, and the baby had died from what seemed to be a lack a of nutrients because the couple fed the baby a vegan diet. If you remember this, what do you think went wrong.
The couple was from Atlanta! What went wrong is that while they were well-intentioned, they were ignorant, ignorant to true nutrition. They fed the baby soy milk, and soy milk does not contain nutrition. They didn't supplement the soy milk with nutrition which they could have done with herbs such as alfalfa, Irish Moss, Iceland Moss, etc.
Q: What is the best way for a Vegan to get vit? B 12? What do you think about essential oils? Have you heard of the Young Living brand? I work with a woman who says she has eczema, but it is deep purple and very painful. I have never seen anything like it, but her doctors want to try chemo to get rid of it. Doctors are so brilliant. Why do so many people go to get punished by them?
FOR B12, EAT PLENTY OF GREEN VEGETABLES OR TAKE VITAMIN B 12. I HAVE HEARD OF YOUNG LIVING BRAND. ESSENTIAL OLIS ARE ESSENTIAL OILS. YOUNG LIVING IS JUST A BRAND. THE OILS ARE THE SAME. YL OFFERS GOOD OILS. I ENDORSE THEM! GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY! CHEMOTHERAPY FOR ECZEMA? PLEASE TELL ME YOUR FRIEND HAS BRAINS AND KNOWS NOT TO FALL FOR THIS. PLEASE HAVE HER READ MY ARTICLE ON â€ECZEMAâ€. I STAY AWAY FROM DOCTORS AT ALL COSTS!
Q: For the last few months off and on when I have bowel movements that are not "normal". I read somewhere that one's waste should float. My waste however comes out whole but tends to disintegrate in the water. I am very regular, I use the bathroom at least 3 times a day after each meal and maintain a pretty healthy vegan diet about 70% live foods. I was wondering if there could be an issue with absorption, or assimilation in my colon, possibly a fiber issue?
Yes, stools should be whole (not disintegrate) and should float in the toilet water. Try increasing your dietary fiber intake with whole fruits and vegetables. Read some of our COLON articles on our site under "Articles."
Q: I was looking at your recipes for infant milk. I am breast feeding but need to wean. I was interested in giving him rice milk (Rice Dream enriched with vitamin a, c, and other vitamins). However, the website says not for use as infant formula. Why would this not be a good substitute? What would this be lacking? Why is your recipe a complete formula for proper infant nutrition? Please Help a concerned new mom!
Rice Dream is fortified with SYNTHETIC nutrients (vitamins and minerals) and therefore it's not a good source of organic nutrition. If you use Rice Dream, please fortify it with organic nutrition like Dherbs.com Moringa Seed Extract, and Iodine Phosphate Extract (add 5 dropperfuls of each formula to infant milk).
Q: I want to find out about skin lightening or evening out my skintone. I am a dark skinned 46 year old black female, I do not use bleaching creams because they are cancerous, and I think that it borders on black female self hatred, But I have uneven, and very dry dark skin color, I would like to get my skin all to one tone, and moist and healthy. Do you have any ideas, or recipes for a natural bleaching cream?
Skin tone changes based upon life changes, just as your hands change based upon life changes. Live healthy, holistic, and everything will come back into balance. You see, evidently you did something for the skin to become uneven, after all, the skin was not always uneven. Something happened based upon what was going on in your life, and things you were doing and thinking. Go back to that period and reflect and start from there. Do the reverse and the healing will begin.
Q: Hi Dherbs.com, I'm 17 and I'm from west Africa, I am Aquarius. I really like your medicine and advice, it reminds me of Africa! I have a heavy computer that I use for college, and it's about 3 Kgs. I also lost about 15 Kgs (65-50 kgs for 1.60m) in 1 year in Europe, and I would like to know what may cause it. my back really hurts, I try to be as healthy as possible, I'm turning vegan, I've stopped everything but dairy and, because it's everywhere and I don't have time to cook for myself every day. I also have problems at school, it's too hard to study, I always feel tired, and I've got problems with family, they want me to keep on studying things I don't like. How could you help me ? Thanks a lot and keep on doing your job, it's great!
Back problems also have an emotional cause. Are you bending over backwards for somebody or something? Do you feel that your back is against the wall in some regard or matter? Turning vegan is a good idea and should really improve your health. Have you read our article "DANGEROUS DAIRY" Now as far as your family wanting you to do things you don't want to do, you need to follow your heart and do you. Always be true to yourself. It's the only way magic can happen or occur.
Q: How often should one eat cook food? I'm a vegan, I do not consume any meat, seafood, milk what so ever. I eat water cresses like everyday so as cook food. Like white rice with black bean sauce, spinach, and pasta at time's I'll eat some Chinese fried rice, veggie roll, steamed vegetables, any advice?
You can eat cooked food as much as you like. However, try to incorporate as many nutrient-dense raw foods, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, raw nuts and seeds, into your diet to make sure you are receiving an adequate amount of nutrients.
Q: Peace. First off I would like to say that I am in love with your site. I started my children on a vegan diet last year, but they're lacking a very large amount of nutritional needs, including myself. I saw yours children's multivitamins, will it be strong enough to get my children back on a healthy tract? They're age 2,4,and 5. One more question. I ordered the full body cleanse. I also have an issue with my skin. I have cysts all over my body covering some of my hair particles and when they come to a head, besides the pain, its full of puss n there's a large amount of baby fine hairs that come out with it. I've been suffering with this since I was 14 yrs old. Can you help my situations?
A: A vegan diet provides all the nutrients one needs. Be sure that you're all consuming a good amount of fruits and vegetables, as these foods predominately provide all the nutrients that the body needs. You can give the children the multivitamin to help boost their immune system. We recommend doing the Full Body Cleanse first, followed by the 10 Day Blood Cleanse. Severe skin issues are related to a problem within the blood, cleansing it is best. Continuing with the Blood and Lymphatic formula is also ideal. Q: Hey Gary, I've heard a lot of hype about the paleo diet. I'm a vegan. Is the paleo diet a diet you would recommend? Can it work with vegan lifestyle? Thanks!
Sorry for the late response, This one got kind of lost in my emails. Thanks for your question.
The Paleo diet.... something nice.... something nice.... heh.
The Paleo diet emphasizes drinking water and eating local/organic food. They shun dairy, processed food, and grains. I agree.
I disagree with just about everything else. For paleo theory to be correct Vegans either have to not exist or be doing very poorly. Wrong on both accounts. They say vegans just can't get enough protein or that we are missing x,y,z in our diets. Never mind that every major paleo website sells the supplements they say only vegans are deficient in. "Vegans don't get enough protein so eat meat and then buy our protein powder supplements. Vegans don't get enough omega 3's so just eat fish and while you are at it buy our krill oil supplements." And so on. The paleo diet is just the low carb diet re-branded. Here are the results of long term low carb eating. http://www.pcrm.org/health/reports/analysis-of-health-problems-associated-with-high.
Vegans are doing extremely well and in most long term studies Vegans end up on top in both health and longevity.

They claim carbohydrates make you fat and that the more you eat the more you weigh. Why then do the 80-10-10 crowd all appear not only all thin but extremely healthy? Carbohydrates are your bodies main source of fuel. Preferred source. Every cell in your body runs on glucose. The human body is amazing. The is a secondary source of energy in case of starvation, or glucose deprived. The body starts to burn fat as fuel known as keytosis. This was only meant as a way to keep the body running during famine. However the paleo people think this is a preferred state to be in. It's not. Look up keto-acidosis. Could be deadly. The bottom line is that people will always be looking forward to the latest fad that tells them "good things about their bad habits".
My Diet program that I run follows a high carb/low fat/high alkaline/high raw protocol. All my client reach remarkable health results.
I could go on forever, but I think you get the point. Let me know if you have anything else to add to this discussion.
