Q: Hi, I am interested in your raw foods detox however, I am in the gym 6 days a week doing spinning, other cardio & weight training, will I be able to continue with my normal fitness routine during detox?
Hi Karen, Thanks for the question.
Detoxing and fitness.
The best way to detox your body is to give it the tools and time necessary to clean house. There are many types of detoxes and many avenues for fitness. The best way to detox is to rest the body while giving it the cleanest foods and herbs. However, some light forms of exercise like yoga, swimming, jogging, pilates are acceptable because they are light and won't require the amount of nutrients to repair and replenish. A raw food detox is sublime and is one fantastic step towards a healthier body and mind. I encourage you to try it.
What I would do is scale back on the exercise for the length of the detox and have fun! Go hiking and enjoy nature. A light jog instead of a spin class. I guarantee you will not lose strength or endurance during the detox. Intense exercise increases the bodies need for nutrients and protein.
Imagine if you will you have a desk at work. And work keeps piling up and no matter how you try to efficiently make it through you can't seem to get ahead. What detoxing is designed to do is give yourself the time to clean your desk. The most efficiently way for that to happen is to stop the work from coming in. Heavy exercise may increase your workload. You want your body to be in a cleaning mode and not a repair mode.
Again I would continue exercises that are light and stimulating. You want increased blood flow and you want to aid you lymph system to pump efficiently.
Lastly, if you are training for an event it may not be the best time to detox. Detoxing symptoms can throw you off your game. Best time to detox is the off season.
Hope this answers your question.

Q: As a diet controlled diabetic I question being able to change my diet(to raw/live foods) while I keep up the same rigorous exercise and fitness program without suffering from too many low readings of which I am prone. The program has gotten me off insulin.I also have diverticulitis and seeds and nuts have been a problem for me in the past. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the question. I hope this helps. If you are under a doctors supervision I am forbidden to give you any advice that may alter a doctors advice. They have little to no nutritional training but their word trumps everyone.
What I can do is point you in the direction of programs getting the results you desire. Those three are Dr. Neil M. Barnards "program for preventing and reversing diabetes" (DVD,book), Dr. Gabriel Cousins "Raw in 30" program (DVD) and "There is a cure for diabetes" (book), and recently The Gerson Therapy has released a program for diabetes (book).
The common denominator in all three programs is a low fat vegan diet. The differences are that Barnard's program is a cooked vegan diet while Cousins' and Gerson's program are raw. All get results but the raw programs have a 75 percent success rate in 1 month where as the cooked version of Barnards get results in 6 months. Big difference.
I have gotten people off of insulin in around 2 months using a high raw and low fat vegan diet. I use no oils and nuts. I do encourage avocados and seeds for fats. However, with diverticulitis you must avoid seeds until your body repairs itself through a high alkaline diet. I suggest getting a bulk of your fats from avocados and coconut. I usually limit myself to a half an avocados worth of fat a day.
I would look into those books first and if you are under a doctors supervision bring those materials to him/her and see what they say.
I hope this helps.

Q: Can I do a 45-minute cardio while doing the Full Body Cleanse? The Doctor claims I am a Type II Diabetic and I have decided to cleanse and then do the Pancreas Cleanse as well. I want to workout to tone up!!! Just wondering if I will have enough energy to continue to workout...I am doing cardio 4 x a week for 45 minutes.
A: You can still exercise while doing the cleanse, but we suggest only engaging in the light cardio instead of any intense workouts. Because you're on an adjusted diet that consists of mainly fruits and vegetables, you may burn through the foods faster as opposed to when you workout while consuming carbs or starchy foods. You can drink Green Tea for a boost of energy or consume raw foods that provides a natural source of energy. Foods that provide you with more energy include bananas, spinach, citrus fruits like grapefruits and oranges, apples, almonds and lemons.
Q: Can you give me a brief synopsis of a daily routine of the weight release process? Is there a special diet, exercise program, etc?
The Cleanse comes with everything you need: instruction booklet, herbs, optional consultation ($25 fee), etc. You're taking 5 capsules every 2 or 3 hours with water eating nothing but raw food.
Q: What type of exercise is good for working out while on the Full Body Detox program? I'm afraid I won't have much energy and stamina for a high impact workout on a raw food diet. Any suggestions???
Thanks for the question,
· Light resistance training
It's best to keep exercise to a minimum. When you exercise your body pulls blood away from your core and into your limbs (fight or flight response). That directs blood away from your healing response. Also high impact or weight training requires more calories and more protein which will over work the organs that should be using their energy healing.

Q: I am a 49 yr. old black female. When I was younger I had severe cystic acne that left me with what the dermatologist calls "ice pick scaring" and enlarged pores. I had 2 full face dermabrasions in my 30s and have been on retina A from then up until now. I have a pretty healthy diet and exercise routine. My Father and a couple of Uncles of mine also had the same type of skin problems, left with the same aftermath. I use French green clay masks which slightly reduce the look of the large pores and a sugar, honey, and lemon scrub (I make it at home) and I use it on my face. I'm not unattractive, but my skin looks rough and dull and pitted on my cheeks and nose. All the doctors talk about scar revision (cutting),laser treatments, chemical peels, and all sorts of invasive surgeries. I don't want to go that route again and I feel bad about the way I look sometimes. Are there ANY suggestions that you can give that will help me?
SKIN PROBLEMS ARE UNDERLYING BLOOD PROBLEMS. CLEANSE YOUR BLOOD, GIVE YOUR BODY NUTRITION. STEAM YOUR FACE. KEEP CLAYING YOUR FACE. IMPROVE UPON YOUR DIET GO ALL RAW FOODS OR VEGAN DIET). A GOOD ARTICLE TO READ IS â€SKIN RASH†ON OUR SITE UNDER ARTICLES.
Q: My boyfriend and I want to do the TOTAL MALE CLEANSE/TOTAL WOMAN CLEANSE. sometimes he has a problem staying erect, and sometime I have problems with constipation. How often should we detox?
Detox 2-4 times per year! Perform the Total Male Cleanses and Total Woman Cleanses at least once yearly!
Q: I am on the second day of the Total Women Cleanse. I am unsure of the use of the magnets. Do I use only one on the designated thyroid area and what are the smaller ones for?
Stick the magnets over the thyroid area (where indentation is above the chest bone, about 2 inches beneath the Adam's apple). You only use one magnet. The other is an extra one in case you lose a magnet. The side that goes against the skin has an indentation in it (like a small dot). Stick it to your skin and where for the duration advised in your booklet.
Q: I had a question about the TOTAL MALE CLEANSE if it should be taken with blood pressure medication?
NO, DO NOT TAKE MEDICATION WITH HERBS AS IT DEFEATS THE PURPOSE AND YOU'LL BE WASTING YOUR MONEY. MEDICATION (DRUGS) ARE POISONS AND HERBS FIGHT AGAINST POISONS SO AS TO HELP THE BODY HEAL.
Q: I want to start the raw food diet, but do not want to lose weight has i am under weight already. I need tips to gain or at least maintain my weight. I do lift weights as part of my exercise routine.
Thanks for the question,
Losing "weight" on a raw foods diet is a definite probability. But the weight might be excess fat and water retention due to detoxing. By weight I am assuming you are talking about muscle. It is not that complicated to keep muscle while on a raw food diet. The Vegan Effect diet program I created is 60-90 percent raw. Raw before dinner if that helps. I allow myself one cooked meal a day. For the most part the diet is a Low fat/high carb/high fruit/high alkaline diet.
The most important thing to remember is getting enough calories. My athletes (including raw body builders) typically eat 1000 calories of fruit for breakfast in the form of a green smoothie. Usually post workout. You need to eat roughly 3000 calories to maintain or grow muscle mass. Some of my mass building athletes eat as much as 5000 calories. Albeit at a higher fat ratio than our standard 70/10/20 carb/fat/protein ratios.
Please refer to my blog on building muscle ona vegan diet found here: http://the-vegan-effect.healthcoach1.integrativenutrition.com/blog/2012/05/building-muscle-on-vegan-diet
There is a raw organic food bar with 22 grams of protien that can be found here http://www.organicfoodbar.com/products/. *Note: I am not affiliated with them nor do I sell any supplements*. It is however a great bridge to meals.
Besides getting enough calories make sure you are getting around 20 grams of protein 5 times a day to maintain muscle mass. Sprouting beans, nut butters, seeds, and nuts help.
I run a 6 month online health coahcing program that includes lessons on sports nutrition and include a individualized fitness plan. I am currently running a ridiculous half off special to fill spots. If you are interested visit www.theveganeffect.com and contact me there.
Hope this helps

Q: Hello I was wondering if it was anything I could take at home or go get from the store to help with a STD or bacterial infection??? I went to the doctor but that medicine just made me sick and I was allergic to it...
Drink as much water to flush your system out until you can order the necessary herbal products. Drink aloe vera juice (mornings) as well as cranberry juice (unsweetened) in the afternoons.
Q: I recently started a natural breast enhancement routine. I am using fenugreek seed, mint tea, and licorice. After I purchased the licorice, I noticed you can only take it for 4 - 6 weeks. I think maybe I should be taking something for 3 months. Should I get something different such as red clover, and saw palmetto to take with fenugreek, or stick with the licorice for the 6 weeks to see what happens any advice is greatly appreciated!
Saw palmetto berries would be the best thing to take. Read our free articles. We have some articles that touch on this subject!
Q: I have the Total Woman's Cleanse and I was wondering if the magnet you use is a neodymium? Also, is the side with the indent the North Pole side?
YES, IT'S NEODYNIUM AND THE INDENT SIDE REPRESENTS THE NORTH POLE SIDE!
Q: I am 6'0 starting day 1 at 246, on day 4, I hit 236. But for 3 days I am at the same weight. Do I need to workout to lose more weight, if so what are some good workouts for my body type. Most of my weight is in the midsection.
Hi, thanks for the question.
Your body does not like rapid changes in weight and will fight you along the way. These are called plateaus. It's too early to panic and by the time you get this email I am pretty sure your weight will have shifted again. You cannot spot lose weight. Your body picks and chooses where it gains weight and where it loses weight. sometimes they aren't the same places.
Working out always helps the process. Here is a blog I wrote, Three Successful Fitness Habits for Sustained Weight, on three successful habits for sustained weight loss.
Fitness for weight loss is interval cardio training and circuit weight training.
Example of both would be:
Interval training on bike.
3 minute warmup
30 seconds of high speed
1 minute of recovery
repeat for 15 minutes till 30 minutes.
Circuit training (five rounds-1 minute rest in between rounds)
Mountain climbers x 20
Pushups x 20
Squats x 20
Bent over rows x 15
Crunches x 25
Without knowing your body type, sports history, and health history I cannot recommend any specific exercise. I run a highly successful internet fitness/health coaching company www.theveganeffect.com. If you would like a free consultation you can fill out the health history form on the main page and I will have one of my fitness coaches contact you.
Hope this helps,

Q: Hi to whom it may concern, I have a question about the TOTAL WOMAN CLEANSE product it would be ideal for me except, I am allergic to shellfish, and I see that this product has kelp in it.. is this product safe for me to take?
RESPONSE: Kelp is seaweed, not a fish! Two totally different substances altogether and thus nothing to be concerned about!
Q: I have a question on penis enlargement. Are there any herbs that I can take to regain the size I once was? Currently I am in the process of preparing my mind, body and soul to fast and cleanse my body using theTOTAL MALE CLEANSE, like changing my diet, and exercising as well as some lifestyle changes. So in addition to the TOTAL MALE CLEANSE, is there anything I can do for this issue I am having?
Visualize yourself with a large size penis of your desire. Perform this mental technique throughout the day. Visualize your penis the size you desire it to be. What you visualize will materialize. Also, give JACKRABBIT FORMULA a try. The brothers love this formula! It helps in your inquiry/situation as well.
Q: I really love what you're doing and you have a brilliant approach in getting the information out to the masses. I just finished watching your youtube footage. Very Nice! I am a Kung-Fu Martial Artist and I've been experiencing discomfort in my knees. I workout regularly. Is there any recommendation you could give me to quiet this discomfort and help restore my body, because my muscles are often sore.
Thank you for your acknowledgment, Beloved! Much obliged! Metaphysics: Emotionally, the knees (knee pain) refelcts inflexibility in your perception of the future. It occurs more often in those with an arrogant or stubborn personality, who are unable to bend to new ideas or to the ideas of others. Physical: Knee pain denotes inflammation and should be treated immediately. I recommend Dherbs.Com HEADACHE AND PAIN FORMULA, JOINT FORMULA, ACID BUSTER, MSM SULFUR, and ENZYMES FORMULA. Rub a natural salve product on your knees too (or essential oil of Eucalyptus and Peppermint). Rub knees daily with these oils. Apply olive oil on the knees first before you rub in these 2 oils.
Q: Can someone who is pregnant or trying to get pregnant still perform the TOTAL WOMAN CLEANSE?
PREGNANT? WOULDN'T RECOMMEND IT. TRYING TO GET PREGNANT? YOU COULD PERFORM THE CLEANSE.
Q: I want to know more about Crystals and their usage. Where do I purchase Crystals? Any books you recommend on Crystals/Metaphysics for beginners. I loved your visit to Atlanta.
I would suggest our "ALTERNATIVE HEALTH DIRECTORY" which lists crystal sellers and distributors. Glad you enjoyed Atlanta's lecture. I really enjoyed myself. I greatly like Atlanta! I will have a few articles on crystals coming up soon to the site (articles section), so stay tuned!
