Fruits are one of the best detoxifiers for the human body. It is these toxins that lead to diseases and fat gain over time.
Q: Thank you for your responds to my letter. The reason why I want to gain weight is for a health reason not for looks. Society has nothing to do with me gaining weight. I'm 5'11 1/2" almost 6' and my weight is 137 lbs. Now to me I'm underweight for what I used to weight in my 20s. I was 150-160 lbs then but as I'd reached my 30s and having a lot of stress weigh down on me my eating habit as well my weight decrease to 120 - 130 lbs. So as you can see I had lost about 30-40 lbs. So yes I want to gain my weight so I can be happy and healthy. I understand that "gaining weight is gaining waste" if you are doing for the society or physical appearance. But that's not what I'm looking for, I'm doing it for my health. So if there a way for me to put the weight on; do you have a suggestion. I will appreciate it if not then thank you for taking the time to read my letters.
THE BEST WAY TO PUT THE WEIGHT BACK ON IS VIA EXERCISING (WEIGHT LIFTING), PERFORMING VISUALIZATION TECHNIQUES (SEEING YOURSELF WITH THE WEIGHT ON YOU) AND PERHAPS OVEREATING GOOD VEGAN FOOD
Q: I want to start the raw food diet, but do not want to lose weight has i am under weight already. I need tips to gain or at least maintain my weight. I do lift weights as part of my exercise routine.
Thanks for the question,
Losing "weight" on a raw foods diet is a definite probability. But the weight might be excess fat and water retention due to detoxing. By weight I am assuming you are talking about muscle. It is not that complicated to keep muscle while on a raw food diet. The Vegan Effect diet program I created is 60-90 percent raw. Raw before dinner if that helps. I allow myself one cooked meal a day. For the most part the diet is a Low fat/high carb/high fruit/high alkaline diet.
The most important thing to remember is getting enough calories. My athletes (including raw body builders) typically eat 1000 calories of fruit for breakfast in the form of a green smoothie. Usually post workout. You need to eat roughly 3000 calories to maintain or grow muscle mass. Some of my mass building athletes eat as much as 5000 calories. Albeit at a higher fat ratio than our standard 70/10/20 carb/fat/protein ratios.
Please refer to my blog on building muscle ona vegan diet found here: http://the-vegan-effect.healthcoach1.integrativenutrition.com/blog/2012/05/building-muscle-on-vegan-diet
There is a raw organic food bar with 22 grams of protien that can be found here http://www.organicfoodbar.com/products/. *Note: I am not affiliated with them nor do I sell any supplements*. It is however a great bridge to meals.
Besides getting enough calories make sure you are getting around 20 grams of protein 5 times a day to maintain muscle mass. Sprouting beans, nut butters, seeds, and nuts help.
I run a 6 month online health coahcing program that includes lessons on sports nutrition and include a individualized fitness plan. I am currently running a ridiculous half off special to fill spots. If you are interested visit www.theveganeffect.com and contact me there.
Hope this helps

Q: I have read about your detox system on your site and others. Here is the product that I am thinking about purchasing: Full Body Detox I have some questions... 1) Is there a diet plan or eating plan that comes with this order? and 2) I have 100 pounds to lose and am thinking about going on the Medifast plan. That is a high (vegetable) protein diet with no fruit and not a lot of vegetables allowed. Would these supplements in the detox plan help my organs that might be taxed a bit on this diet with very little vegetables and no fruit? I am skeptical about #2...I think raw fruits and vegetables are so important inour diets, yet, I do need to drop weight fast. I look forward to any thoughts that you might have.
Yes, the Full Body Cleanse comes with a dietary regimen prescribing an all-raw foods diet (fruits, vegetables, raw nuts and seeds). This means no meat, dairy, grains, or processed foods.
Q: I am a young lady who is trying to lose weight. I usually stabilize around 130-135. however, I would like that to be 10 pounds lighter. Whenever I get below 130 though, my body feels like it goes into binge mode. Any suggestions or herbs that can help me stop eating to so much and instead help me lose weight?
Q: I recently completed the Full Body Detox, which I loved. Now, 2 months later, I am very interested in the weight release program. Last year, I lost 40 lbs in 8 months, in the most healthy way (good nutrition and exercise). This year, I slowly started gaining weight back, and 1 year later, I continue to gain weight much more quickly. I am still working out regularly, and eating well. Would you recommend the Weight Release Kit? I am looking to take off 20 lbs at the most. Is that realistic for this formula? However, I want to build muscle and strength as well. Can I maintain the results of the program with the directed nutrition plan, and add white meat for protein (chicken, turkey, tuna). I am also wondering if the formulas simply release excess weight, or can I expect to lose inches and lower my body fat percentage? Thanks for your time and dedication to natural health!
Glad to hear about your success with the Full Body Detox!
I would highly recommend the Weight Release Kit and Regimen. NO MEAT though! Try vegan alternatives if you must have something - but no meats!
You will release weight (waste)! Your weight is nothing but waste!
Q: I am on my 3rd day of the fully body cleansing. I am definitely doing this to lose weight. I am a 52 year old, black, Christian, wife, mother to 21 and 14 year old girls, legal secretary who is 450 lbs. I am to the point now where if I don't do this I'm going to be housebound. I can barely move some days that is why I started this because I feel so unhealthy. I have a question about the nuts. I got all gun-ho and ordered $135.00 worth of organic nuts from nuts.com. I got raisins, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, walnuts, pecans, pistachios and cashews and mixed them all up together (well I purchased 2 lbs of each but I only mixed up 1 lb of each together). Anyway, I was reading about how much calories are in nuts. Should I not pay attention to that because I was consuming a lot of calories in the first place or do I have to watch how many nuts I eat? I have put some nuts in a sandwich bags and basically filled it up and that is supposed to be my nuts ration for the day. I am also eating fruits and vegetables. So far the fruit have been grapes, grapefruit, red apples, pears, green apples and bananas. The vegetables have all been in a salad: tomatoes, celery spinach leaves, carrots, mixed in balsamic vinaigrette. I only ate the salad Monday night all the other times I have just eaten the fruit and nuts. I am also consuming approximately 75-100 oz of water. Sorry I’m long winded I just wanted you to get the entire picture.
Thanks for the question, I can definitely help you.
I am currently writing an eBook for www.dherbs.com called "Losing weight the healthy way." I have been a weight loss counselor for many years. I am also a health coach, personal trainer, bodymind nutritionist, and a vegan lifestyle coach.
When it comes to weight loss most programs want you to lose weight to get healthy. My mindset is to get healthy and lose weight.
In my health/fitness/nutrition coaching program www.theveganeffect.com I use a lowfat/high carb/ high raw/ nutrient dense/ high alkaline diet to achieve long term weight loss success. So far I am 100 percent in getting clients long lasting weight loss. If you are interested in my program please fill out the health history form on the side of the web page. We could have a free 1 hour initial consultation over skype to see how I can best help you.
Nuts are best kept to a minimum if you use them at all. Nuts are extremely high in fat and have the opposite omega 3- omega 6 ratio that is optimal for health. Seeds are best as far as ratios are concerned. Also nuts are truly easy to over eat and cause your nutrient ratios to be off.
A healthy vegan diet is a high raw fruitarian diet.
Breakfast: green smoothie. (500-1000 calories of fruits blended with a handful of greens and water)
Bridge: Dates and strawberries (500 calories)
Lunch: Salad with low sugar fruits (cucumber, tomato, squash, bell peppers) topped with fruit, beans, psuedo grains,
Bridge: 2-3 apples
Dinner: Raw wraps (collard greens) with low sugar fruit and tahini
Hope this helps

Q: Hello, I've always heard that people can't "Spot loose" when it comes to weight, however, I've done it but don't really know what it was that cause the "spot weight" lose. My question and dilemma is: I tend to gain weight in my breast area and mid section but no where else. I am apple shaped. I know it isn't good for the heart and I want to loose mostly my breast. What would you recommend eating or not and what type of exercise would you recommend. Thank you!
Spot losing is a myth or sorts. I'm not saying it can't happen but it's highly unlikely and completely uncontrollable. Your body picks and chooses where it gains/loses weight and they are not always in the same spots. Some people gain weight proportionately and some gain it in certain spots (hips, thighs, breasts, belly). I do get asked this question a lot from women "How do I lose weight in my gut or hip area but not in my breast?". The truth is that there is no real answer for that. Your own spot loss was probably just luckiness and apararently exactly where you needed it to.
As far as eating is concerned nothing causes the body to fat more than these two things. One is a high nutrient density, high alkaline, high raw, low fat, vegan diet. The other is juice fasting. Both are extremely helpful.
Foods know and studied to cause weight loss are beans, greens, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, raw apple cider vinegar, oatmeal, and fruits and veggies. Noe of which have been conclusive in causing the body to lose fat in certain spots of the body.
I run a highly successful health, nutrition, and fitness coaching company. I have coached many people to a vast number of health goals. Weight loss is one of my specialties. My 6 month program is designed to give people all the tools they need to reach their goals. My six month program includes lessons on weight loss, juice fasting, alkalinity, meal planning and meal timing, and also comes with a 90 day fitness plan. To see if my program is right for you fill out this health form found here (http://the-vegan-effect.healthcoach.integrativenutrition.com/forms) and claim your free first consultation.
The best and most efficient exercises for weight loss are cardio exercises. That is however only part of the equation. Learning how to interval train is your most efficient way to burn fat. You may burn more fat at 60 percent of your maximum heart rate but if you interval train where you change your intensity and heart rate you burn more calories in less time and more fat. Also with low intensity cardio the burn effect ends when you end your training as where interval training keeps your metabolism stoked for hours after training maximizing your burn.
Here is an example of interval training
4:30 seconds warm up (moderate speed)
30 seconds sprint
4:30 seconds recovery (moderate speed)
30 seconds sprint
4:30 seconds recovery (moderate speed)
Continue intervals for anywhere from 20-30 minutes
The second best way is to do high rep, low - moderate weight exercises. Circuit training where you go from one exercise to another with as little as 30 seconds rest in between sets.
Here is an example:
Jumping jacks 1 minute
Crunches 1 minute
Pushups 1 minute
Squats 1 minute
3 sets of 12 alternating lunge to shoulder press
3 sets chest press x 12
3 sets of bent over rows x 12
3 sets of bicep curls
3 sets of triceps extensions
1 minute of jump squats
1 minute of Lunge and press
You want to focus more on exercises that move more than one muscle. Focus on compound exercises (squats, pushups/chest press, pull-up/lat pull downs). Also focus on exercises that make you move like jumping jacks, mountain climbers, and burpees.
Hope this helps,

Q: Hi, I'm a 36 year old African/American woman with 4 children whose been trying to lose weight off and on for the past 16 years. I lose the weight but then I gain it right back after I go off of my diet. I know that I need a good body/colon cleanse, but what I need to learn how to do is to eat the right food's to keep my body healthy. I've been conditioned to eat the foods that I do eat, I need to know how do I go about "de-programming" myself from the bad food's and program myself to want and crave the healthy one's? I'm open to any suggestion's you have, even using crystals and meditation. Thank you.
Time is limited here in "Ask the Herbalist" so I humbly request you consider a full length health consultation. However, I can tell you that you'd greatly benefit from a FULL BODY DETOX Cleanse.
Q: I am getting ready to purchase the FULL BODY DETOX my concern is the weight gain. Do you have a product to help gain weight? Also what product to you recommend for the skin? I continue to get black circles around the eye area.
FOR WEIGHT GAIN: BIO-PROTEIN FORMULA, ELECTRIC GREENS CELL FOOD, AND IODINE PHOSPHATE FOR THE SKIN: BLOOD AND LYMPHATIC FORMULA , VITAMIN C FORMULA, OZ OIL (EXTERNAL USE) BLACK CIRCLES UNDER THE EYE: READ OUR ARTICLE ENTITLED â€EYE PROBLEMSâ€.
Q: Which are the best fruits and vegetables that promote weight loss during the detox and should the nuts be excluded? Do I need a combination of protein, carbohydrates and fats in order to lose substantially and if so, are there fruits and vegetables in these categories and is there possibly a limit to certain ones?
All fruits and vegetables help to tone you to the weight you desire. Why exclude nuts? Weight comes from meat, dairy products, refined products, etc. Not natural foods! Don't worry about protein, carbs, etc. It creates confusion! Real food doesn't cause problems. Let all the dietary confusion go and you will be fine!
Q: Does using 3/4 tsp of senna powder with 1tsp of metamucil cause weight gain? I have been doing this regime for over 5 years every morning. My intestinal health is wonderful----and although I have rediculous eating habbits and have now started excercing properly at the age of 42, I was wondering could this have contributed. I weighed 195lbs 7 years ago and now I weigh 248lbs. I have a goal to drop 60 pounds by August of 2008. My height is 5'10"
Q: A friend of mine purchased the Full Body Cleanse for me but I am a little hesitant about starting the cleanse. I am afraid that I won't be able to go through with it and that maybe I am doing it for all the wrong reasons.I used to weight 140 pounds in high school, but after I went away to college stress and poor eating habits I gained 50 pounds.I have tried a few different things and when I did not notice results I stopped them. Will it be different this time? Will I actually lose weight? I was also considering trying The Female Cleanse after the Full Body Cleanse. Would that also help with weight loss?
If you follow the diet and take the herbs as recommended you will 100% loose weight. Not only will you be expelling toxins from your system with help of the herbs but you will also be adapting to a raw vegan diet. The diet alone will help you loose weight.
The Female Cleanse is not design for weigh loss. If weight is what you are focused on then you should perform the Weight Release Cleanse, once you have performed the Full Body Cleanse that is. Never hesitate to call us at 866-434-3727, we would be more than pleased to walk you and guide you through the process.
Q: I want to get this for my mother as she is trying to lose weight and keep her sugar level and blood pressure under control and not be in any danger from taking this. Her sugar was in the 300's and we got her to keep it down between 140 and 180. She was diagnosed with Diabetes last year and is working on eating right. I will order once you answer this. Should she talk to her doctor first or can she try it first?
It's her choice! What can or will a doctor who has an interest in DRUGS tell her about herbs that he/she doesn't get a kickback from??????
Q: I have completed the Pancreas Cleanse, and I'm finishing up the Full Body Detox, I'm very disappointed! Reason being, I thought I would have dropped a lot of the extra weight, and I didn't. I did all raw foods, and started preparing raw snacks, made with nuts and dried fruits. In fact, I think I was eating too many raw nuts. I'm still working to help my body heal from the diabetes, but not sure where to go from here. I still want to lose 35 lbs, and I will continue to eat raw at least 85% to 90%, but I need help with supplements. Where do I go from here? By the way is their any reason why, I lost more weight on the Pancreas Cleanse, instead of the Full Body Detox?
Too many raw nuts could cause a feeling of being bloated, but nuts are pretty good to eat while detoxing. Most people don't have a problem with nuts, while cleansing. Okay, so you have diabetes and the weight is from the diabetes association, correct? It is ideal to first perform the Full Body Detox, followed by the Pancreas Cleanse. If you don't release the full 35 pounds of weight with these 2 kits, you then perform either the 10-Day Supreme Colon Cleanse, or the Weight Release Cleanse. Also, whether cleansing or not, drink 2 cups of Pancreas Tea daily. If the weight (waste), is due to the diabetes then your body responded to the contents of the Pancreas Cleanse (because your body needed it), and this is a sign that you should only be performing the Pancreas Cleanse, and not the other cleanses I named above.
A: The Full Body Cleanse is beneficial in more ways than just weight loss. It's a detox program that cleanses all of your major organs, boosting your energy levels and immune system. The purpose for cleansing is to eliminate waste and toxins that accumulates over the course of time. Your body has it's own intelligence. It won't allow you to lose necessary weight when you're already at the appropriate weight for your height. We recommend eating the foods in the diet that are high in fat such as avocados, almonds, sunflower seeds, pecans, pumpkin seeds and coconut.
Q: I would like know do your WEIGHT RELEASE FORMULA really help to lose weight. Also, will I be able to use this product with my medication (such as high platelets medicine)?
Yes the Weight Release helps you to maintain reduced weight! We don't recommend the use of herbs with drugs/medication (poisons). Herbs cancel out poisons!
Q: How often should I Detox. I recently bought the detox package from you and lose no weight. Additionally, the black powder that can be used to help gain some whiteness to your teeth does not seem to be working either. Is there any advice that you can give.
Remember that in natural healing patience is a virtue. It takes time to undo the mess we did to ourselves in ignorance. Trust in God and God's herbs and be patient while using natural substances. Stay focused on your desires.
Q: I received the herbs I ordered from you - thanks so much! I have a couple of questions about them. My husband will be taking the Adrenal Glands Complex - it says to take three capsules/day - should they be taken all at once or one at three different times? Also, for the full body cleanse: Having done detox programs before where I eat mainly fruits, juices, and salads, I am a bit concerned about losing weight. I have been a vegan for 3 three years (50-75% raw), am already at the low end of normal weight for my height (using BMI), and do not particularly want or need to lose weight. Do you have any suggestions?
1. The Adrenal Glands Complex should be taken all at once (3 capsules at once is better) though he is free to spread the capsules out throughout the day.
2. Your body will only lose the amount of weight that it needs do. If your body does not need to, it will not. The Cleanse only performs to restore your body to its optimal weight and state. Also, on our Full Body Cleanse, you are able to eat as many fresh fruits and vegetables, and raw nuts and seeds as you wish. Have plenty of healthy fats like avocado and coconut products for more sustenance.
Q: I would like to know if the WEIGHT RELEASE FORMULA helps you lose weight and also does this supplement comes with a diet plan.
Q: While doing a candida cleanse, it was told to me that I should be following a raw food diet full of fruits and vegetables. Fruits have high sugar content and can feed a candida overgrowth, as it is a well known fact that candida albicans thrive on sugar. How can I justify eating fruits high in sugar? Thank you for your comments. Ozzy
A: Yes, when you have a candida issue it's best to avoid refined sugar. Sugar from a natural source like fruits should be consumed moderately. In your case it would be best to consume fruits mainly in the mornings for breakfast when your body maximizes on food the most, avoiding the ones that are very high in sugar.
