Mona’s Detox – Day 12

Mona’s Detox – Day 12

Twelve days and I am now reading and becoming more informed about my next steps. It would be a shame to go so far and then revert back to eating poorly. I need to go shopping for more foods and varieties. So far I have reduced my weight by 6 lbs. That is great ! I didn’t have to starve and I am healing my body, mind and spirit. I get compliments on my eyes looking whiter and clear, my face looking more defined, instead of the puffy face I use to…

Mona’s Detox – Day 11

Mona’s Detox – Day 11

What a glorious day I am having. The world does open up when you are clear and are not weighed down by toxins. My wonderful daughter in law spent this morning talking to me about raw foods and my issue of thinking about toxic foods. Knowledge is power. Knowing who to talk to and getting solid information is crucial. She told me to read! Read the information on raw food, what foods do to you and the results of optimum health. I have been encouraged! I feel so energetic today. I have…

Mona’s Detox – Day 10

Mona’s Detox – Day 10

Today, was a wonderful day of eating avocados! I had been waiting for them to ripen since Sunday. I ate 1 and 1/2 today of avocados and they were so satisfying. I needed the diversity in my food plan like crazy. One of the wonderful things about today is that I took care of myself. I had a day full of meetings and knew that I would be 1 hour from home and preparing for today was essential. These meetings come with deserts, coffee, and toxic items galore! I woke up today…

Mona’s Detox – Day 9

Mona’s Detox – Day 9

What a day!  I am finally working on my office organization.  I feel like doing it today.  Most of the time it will take months to really get involved.  Translates into late fees, and missing bill deadlines, etc.  I even have a master calendar for the next two months laid out for my schedule.  I am feeling great!  All because I said yes to detoxing and using herbs that are fantastic! I have been focused for over 4 hours and no TV breaks!  TV is by no means a good thing for me anyway. It…

Mona’s Detox – Day 8

Mona’s Detox – Day 8

My body is truly detoxing. I feel tired and a bit like slow motion. Can’t wait for the avocados to be ripe. I need today to make my own smoothies and get started on the treadmill plan. I had a mango smoothie from a juice bar, and what a delight. Body is getting rid of things that had been laying around for a while. I made it through the weekend, and the holiday. No remorse! Great to have such a flow. Are the detox herbs magical? Before now, I would have been…

Mona’s Detox – Day 7

Mona’s Detox – Day 7

Easter Sunday, what a glorious day! Smelling all that rotten food and wanting to eat it was a temptation. Can I believe it? Yes, it did cross my mind and I wanted to just taste it. I wasn’t hungry, but wanted the social eating a bit. What made me not, was the overwhelming respect I was gaining for myself by NOT eating that dead food. The healthful way I was feeling, the lightness and clarity I was gaining everyday. I also had such a sense of wanting to help and reach out to others. I…

Mona’s Detox – Day 6

Mona’s Detox – Day 6

I had to go to COSTCO! That was nearly a meltdown. I unconsciously sample items while there and almost was tempted to try chocolate! Well I went in and came out victorious. But I guess I had to try my commitment a bit further and went to the 99 cent store looking for household items I needed. Well, that has been my most trying day and I wanted to taste something. Not really sure why 6 days had been so peaceful and all of a sudden it seemed a bit more challenging. But I do…

Mona’s Detox – Day 5

Mona’s Detox – Day 5

Wow, today I have been up a bit later than usual, its now 9:34 pm. My energy is increasing every day and I feel so much less toxic. And again, with that a sense of calm and well being. Why do I feel the need to almost hold my breath when I take the charcoal? It does not have a smell or taste. What’s up with that! But what a sense of accomplishment and inspiration to have made it 5 days! I have not eaten as many nuts as I did in the beginning and…

Mona’s Detox – Day 4

Mona’s Detox – Day 4

Wow, today is already Thursday! My fourth day on the detox and I feel good. I finally seem to sleep so much more peacefully and much more at length. I have taken my first two am herbs and reach more for good eats without thinking. I really have not even felt the coffee cravings I diligently had. I was a true coffee drinker. My coffee had to have regular coffee and a espresso shot on all my ordinary days. Today for some reason I really feel the need to talk about my food addictions. I…

Mona’s Detox – Day 3

Mona’s Detox – Day 3

Today got off to a busy start. I couldn’t take my herbs for the first two designated times. But, I did prevail! I took my 1st dose at 11 and second at 12 and my 12 dose at 1pm. I want to be successful. I want to take care of myself. And this seems to be a lot less stressful than I thought it would be. My older children are so supportive. They brought me more raw nuts today and have encouraged me in such a divine way. I am so blessed to have such…

Mona’s Detox – Day 2

Mona’s Detox – Day 2

I made it through day one! I woke up much easier and sprung into my day. I had a busy morning and caught up on my herbs after 10 am. I did not realize until later that I did not have coffee. But I have not even missed it. I went shopping at Trader Joe’s for raw food and found some of the items I like. Will go to Whole Foods and the Coop later on this week. I found as the day went on that the nuts seem to hold me over…

Mona’s Detox – Day 1

Today is my day to do the right thing! Just returned home and stopped off for a smoothie at Whole Foods. Today is day one on my detox. I feel ready and look forward to eating healthy and making better choices. I have taken my first round of herbs and will play catch up as I am behind already by 2 missed times. I am feeling tired and want to feel and look better. My health is the real concern here, not my usual vanity issue. I have had a group of…

Day 20

Day 20

February 23, 2009 Hello everybody! Samantha here with my last and final update on my Detox regimen. As you all know today was my last day on the Detox. For the most part I am relieved to know that I can make it through to the end, even though I had a lot of temptations along the way. From peer pressure to coming in contact with some of my favorite foods, I had no clue that I could make it to the end. I would like to say thank you to all…

Day 19

Day 19

February 22, 2009 Hello everybody! Samantha here with another update on my Detox regimen. Today I woke up an hour late for taking my first set of capsules, so to accommodate for the lapse in time I just adjusted it so everything could fall into place. By me doing that everything worked out perfectly; just everything was pushed back by an hour. Today was also a slow and lazy day for me. I just lounged around all day and just hung out around the house. I did not feel like working out since I’m still…

Day 19 & 20: Can’t believe it’s here!

Day 19 & 20: Can’t believe it’s here!

Yesterday and today had a different feel then the entire detox, knowing that today is the last day. I made it! I kept wondering what I will eat when I’m done. I’ve had several people ask me what my first meal will be. Funny, but I don’t have any great pull to anything! The herbies have been extremely fulfilling for me and I can’t believe I am saying this, but I will miss them:) A few changes feel lasting: a focus on lots more water daily, and a new appreciation for veggies! The raw approach is fine for…

Day 18: Victory Lap Time

Day 18: Victory Lap Time

I started out the detox wanting to clean out the insides and outsides of my body, so today I tackled my son’s closet and my office. I played great music all day, from Latin to soundtrack to my own playlist, and it was fun! I threw away 5 bags of garbage and old stuff, and that always feels great to me. I’m now inspired to continue on with the rest of the house. It feels so right to be updating and purging around me:) I laughed at myself tonight as I had a late night snack: a salad…

Day 16: Appreciating the herbs

Day 16: Appreciating the herbs

I’ve been feeling appreciative of the herbs the last few days. It would be very tough to just be eating fruits and vegetables and nuts by themselves. It’s day 16, and I’m not freaking out about no Starbucks, or dark chocolate, or beef. Those usually are my staples. I’m not missing them, but I sense there is an essence to the herbs and how they are combined that acts like a food of its own, 6 times a day. So far, out of 16 days, I’ve been on the road for 6 of them, and I have consistently found…

On the Road day 14 & 15

On the Road day 14 & 15

I am on the road, in Salt Lake City dong some team building work for Starbucks. I didn’t get a chance to eat what I desired until dinner, where the restaurant made me an off-the-menu scrumptious salad. I ate nuts and fruit throughout the day, but not having veggies was tough. I drank tons of water instead. My husband, Jerome, assisted me with understanding the cause of my nagging cough. I’ve had it throughout most of the detox. I thought the herbs or raw almonds were irritating my throat. Instead we discovered I was hearing…

Day 13: Sleep pays off

Day 13: Sleep pays off

After two days of 10 hour nights of rest over the weekend, I got on the scale today and had lost 3 lbs overnight! Not bad. I also added brown rice yesterday. Very fulfilling and tasty with olive oil and sea salt. I went boogie boarding with my son and his friends today and being in the salt water was fabulous! And for lunch, while they ate pizza and cheeseburgers, I had my salad and tea and there was an absolute ease to it all. I’ll be on the road the next three days, so will write in…

Day 11: Another sleepy day

Day 11: Another sleepy day

I wanted to take a nap all day today. My son ran in a cross country race this morning so we all got up early for that. And it’s a Saturday; sleeping in on a Saturday is one of those pleasures I always treasure when I can. Felt like I did the running because I felt his exhaustion and recovery periods, but I never got my own recover. Never seemed to work out to nap, so here it is the end of the day, and I just want to go sleep for 12 hours. I was reminded today…
