Get ready for a clean, green, protein-rich smoothie that takes your taste buds on a journey. Enjoy it as an energizing breakfast, midday snack, or pre-workout fuel source. It’s a very simple recipe that only requires a handful of ingredients, two of which exhibit lots of protein and healthy fats. Both protein and healthy fats help to keep you full between meals, which means no unnecessary snacking!
If you like your smoothies thick and a little icy, this is the smoothie for you. The frozen banana contributes to the creaminess, but the ice give this smoothie a texture that’s similar to a slushie. Additional texture and flavor comes from the nutty hemp hearts and chia seeds. Both hemp hearts and chia seeds are excellent sources of omega-3 fatty acids, which encourage heart and brain health. Nutritionists also note that hemp hearts are a complete protein sources, meaning that they provide all of the essential amino acids. By weight, hemp seeds provide similar amounts of protein as beef and lamb, with 30 grams (2-3 tbsp) of hemp seeds providing 11 grams of protein.
We could rave about the nutritional benefits of this smoothie for hours, but a smoothie can’t just exhibit health properties and no flavor. This smoothie is all about the flavor, packing creamy, sweet, nutty, and subtly spicy ingredients. The ginger is the real kicker, taking the smoothie to new flavorful heights.
