A good smoothie will refresh the palate and provide the body with a dietary fiber to ease digestion. A great smoothie will give you a boost in energy and make you feel like you can take on the world. Will this smoothie do the latter? It’s very possible that it will, but you’ll have to slurp it up in order to find out.
The ingredients distinguish an ordinary smoothie from a great one, and the ingredients in this smoothie don’t slouch in the nutritional department. With just five simple ingredients, you can blend up a low-carb, raw vegan, fiber-rich smoothie. Even though it has spinach, you predominantly taste the sweet and tart combination of the kiwi and blueberries. Plus, the homemade almond milk adds a subtle nuttiness and creaminess that almost turns this smoothie into somewhat of a healthy milkshake, dairy-free of course.
When it comes to this smoothie, the ingredients satisfy the three F’s: fruit, fat, and fiber. Fruit helps to make a “healthy” smoothie more palatable and provides a kiss of sweetness and powerful antioxidants. Fiber is integral for optimal digestion, helping to move food through the digestive tract with ease. Finally, fat is not the enemy you think it is. Trans fats and saturated fats are not healthy, but there are many healthy fats that contribute to optimal heart and brain health. The omega-3 fatty acids in chia seeds do just that!
We hope you enjoy the tart, sweet, and earthy flavors that come through in every sip. It’s refreshing and works as a nutritious breakfast or post-workout snack.
