When you think of chocolate spread, you probably think of Nutella. It’s a classic spread that not only contains hazelnuts, but also milk, soy, vegetable fats, flavorings, and sugar…lots of sugar. A one-tablespoon serving of Nutella has the following stats:

  • Calories: 80 calories
  • Fats: 4.6 grams (g)
  • Carbohydrates: 8.6 g
  • Sugar: 8.4 g
  • Protein: 0.9 g

If it is truly a hazelnut spread, why is sugar the first ingredient? That is never a good sign for your health. Fortunately, this recipe is the perfect dip, spread, or breakfast topping. You can even eat it by the spoonful! Just be mindful of how much you eat. because cashews also contain a lot of calories. It does taste good on just about anything and satisfies your chocolate cravings in a healthier way than Nutella does.

Besides the ingredients, the other primary difference between this recipe and a store bought chocolate spread is that is not shelf-stable. This recipe only lasts for about a week, but you have to store it properly in order for this to happen. You will need raw cashews, raw cacao powder, agave nectar, vanilla extract, coconut oil, and sea salt. It’s possible that the chocolate cashew butter will separate slightly, due to the fact that it contains agave nectar and coconut oil. Just give it a good mix every time you eat it and you’ll be fine!

Who needs Larabars when you can easily make your own with three simple ingredients? These are perfect if you have been looking to enjoy healthy snack options during your cleanse. They provide outstanding flavor and lots of fiber, healthy fats, and protein, all of which help keep you full between meals. The dates and cashews establish a great balance of nuttiness and sweetness, and the pinch of sea salt gives the bars a little extra pizzazz. It’s almost like a pinch of sea salt on a chocolate chip cookie or delectable caramel. You truly can’t go wrong with a pinch of sea salt in sweet treats.

For this recipe you will need Medjool dates, raw cashews, and sea salt. Dates are naturally sweet and sticky, providing the base for these bars. Make sure your dates are soft and fresh. Need assistance blending? Soak the dates in warm water for about 15 minutes prior to blending them in the food processor. Raw cashews also blend a little easier if you soak them for an hour or so. Just make sure that you discard the soaking water for both the dates and cashews if you decide to soak them. Not a fan of cashews? You can swap them for any raw nut in the same amount. Walnuts, pecans, pistachios, and more work great!

After you blend the ingredients and achieve a sticky, dough-like consistency, you will transfer the mixture to an 8″x8″ baking pan lined with parchment paper. Press the mixture into the pan until you have an even layer that is about 1/2-inch or so thick. Freeze for 30 minutes and then remove from the freezer. That will ensure that the bars are somewhat solidified to the point where you can cut them into 10 bars. Separate them and consider wrapping them individually in plastic wrap. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks.

What is cinnamon vanilla cashew butter? Please, allow us to introduce you to your new, favorite indulgence. It is regular homemade cashew butter, but with the addition of warming cinnamon and vanilla. It’s as though plain old cashew butter got dressed up for a night on the town. Didn’t this recipe arrive just in time for this cooler fall weather? Not only is it incredibly easy to make (although blending process can be a little lengthy), but it is also brimming with flavor.

If you have ever browsed the raw vegan nut butters at the grocery store, you know that they can be quite expensive. That is especially true for cashew butter and almond butter. Instead of paying $21 for a small jar of raw cashew butter, buy a large bag of raw cashews and you can make multiple jars yourself. All you need is a food processor, the cashews, cinnamon, and alcohol-free vanilla extract. Just keep in mind that it can take 10-15 minutes to become velvety smooth. You will have to stop blending, scrape down the sides of the processor bowl, and continue blending to ensure all of the cashews blend evenly. You can also leave it a little chunky if that’s what you prefer.

One thing to keep in mind about this highly addictive cashew butter is that it does come with a small price. It is naturally rich in calories and fats, even though they are healthy fats. Keep servings small because you can rack up a lot of calories very quickly if you go at this jar with a spoon. If losing weight is your goal, keep yourself away from this, or keep your portions very small and limited.

If you have spent time in our recipe section, especially browsing the Full Body Cleanse-approved ones, you know how much we love cheesy dishes. Cheese is the primary ingredient that stops vegetarians from becoming vegans. While there are vegan cheeses available in the grocery store, some of them are lacking in flavor. That isn’t the case for this raw vegan nut-free parmesan cheese. It combines pumpkin seeds, nutritional yeast, hemp seeds, garlic powder, and sea salt. You’ll want to sprinkle this on everything you make, especially your salads while cleansing.

Most vegan parmesan cheese recipes contain nuts, particularly cashews. In fact, most vegan cheeses use cashews because they are creamy, but if you are avoiding nuts due to an allergy, this recipe is perfect for you. Nuts do not agree with everyone, causing inflammation or poor digestion in certain people. That isn’t necessary the case with pumpkin seeds and hemp seeds, both of which offer impressive nutritional profiles. Pumpkin seeds are naturally rich in zinc, magnesium, iron, copper, manganese, and vitamins E, K, and omega-3 fatty acids.

Hemp seeds are highly nutritious, offering good amounts of fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, protein, magnesium, potassium, zinc, iron, vitamin E, and phosphorus. A single serving (about three tablespoons) of hemp seeds has nearly 10 grams of protein, which works to curb hunger and energize the body between meals. The antioxidants in hemp seeds may also help lower blood pressure and protect against free radicals, which are molecules that increase the risk of chronic inflammation, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, and other conditions.

Golden milk, or turmeric milk, has been a part of Indian culture for centuries. Not only is the drink bright gold, which stems from the turmeric, but it also offers a rich, smooth flavor and several health benefits. In present day, golden milk has made its way onto trendy coffee shop menus. It is usually listed as turmeric latte, which infuses coffee into the classic beverage. That said, there are many places that serve the traditional recipe of turmeric, animal- or plant-based milk, and other spices and sweeteners.

And now that soothing drink has been transformed into energy balls. Isn’t that incredible?! These are especially great to enjoy if you love to snack. One thing we can say is that these are much healthier to snack on than a bag of chips or box of crackers. They are nutritionally balanced, offering both macro and micronutrients. You get the carbohydrates from the fruit and protein and healthy fats from the nuts and nut butter. The micronutrients come from the turmeric, desiccated coconut, and dates. The combination of macros and micros can help you remain full between meals and keep you from experiencing a sugar rush and crash.

If you are not the biggest turmeric fan, this is a great entry point. It can be a little bitter and very strong, which is why you may not be a turmeric latte lover. The dates and dried mangos provide sufficient sweetness to balance turmeric’s naturally bitter flavor. Plus, the cashews and cashew butter add a pleasant nuttiness that not only enhances the flavor of the energy balls, but also gives them a chewy and creamy texture.

These coconut lime energy bites are the perfect bite-size treats packed with nutrition and flavor. Some may argue that these energy bites, which are almost like little protein bars, are actually desserts in disguise. Made with creamy raw cashews, sweet Medjool dates, desiccated coconut, and fresh lime zest, these energy bites have a well-balanced flavor. There isn’t an ingredient that is more powerful than another one.

The cashews provide healthy fats and protein, while dates add natural sweetness and fiber. To maintain a mild connection to coconut within the actual bites, you incorporate some of the desiccated coconut into the blending process. Once you finish forming the bites and place them in the freezer to set for a bit, you can roll them in the remaining desiccated coconut. If you are not the biggest fan of coconut, you can omit that final step. The desiccated coconut, however, enhances the tropical taste and provides additional healthy fats. Although the lime juice and zest may seem like odd additions to these bites, they actually energize the palate with a light citrusy kick. Consider the following benefits when you think about making them:

  • Rich in healthy fats: Cashews and coconut contribute monounsaturated fats, which work to support heart health.
  • Natural energy boost: The combination of dates and healthy fats helps provide sustained energy, so you can stay full between meals.
  • Antioxidant properties: Lime zest is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, both of which work to optimize immune function.
  • Low in added sugars: Made with natural ingredients, these bites are a wholesome alternative to processed snacks.

These little flavorful bites are perfect to enjoy before a workout or between lunch and dinner to help you power through the afternoon slump. They are like a warm hug for your soul in snack form. Why are they known as energy bites? Do they take the place of energy drinks or caffeinated beverages? No, but they do provide a slow release of energy thanks to natural sugars, fiber, and healthy fats. After you enjoy one or two of them, you will remain full without experiencing a crash. Plus, the fiber from dates and flaxseed keeps your digestive system functioning optimally, while the omega-3s in flaxseed support brain and heart health. Let’s not forget about the spices, either. Cinnamon and ginger exhibit powerful anti-inflammatory properties, which help you fight off those pesky colds and keep your immune system in check. Please indulge in these little powerhouse snacks because they are every bit as sassy as they are tasty.

This raw vegan ricotta is a cashew lover’s dream. Made with rich and creamy cashews, this vegan cheese makes for the perfect spread or topping for a raw zoodle entree. Have a cashew allergy or just dislike them? You can replace them with raw almonds, but make sure to use slivered almonds, as whole almonds don’t yield as creamy a consistency. Cashews are commonly used to make vegan and raw vegan cheeses, which is why we decided to use them. Just make sure to soak them for an hour or two prior to blending. That will soften them and allow for easier blending.

For this recipe, we highly recommend using a food processor, as a blender may not be able to do the job effectively. Because this is ricotta cheese, you want the blended mixture to retain some texture. For this reason, keep an eye on the ingredients during while you blend them. If you end up with a super creamy spread, don’t think that you have wasted ingredients. You can still enjoy the spread, which will be more of a creamy sauce. Ricotta cheese tends to have some curds, giving it a lumpy texture. To get a similar texture with cashews, blend for 30 seconds at a time. Scrape down the sides of the processor each time and repeat until you achieve a texture that appeases you.

Finally, if you feel the need to add a little pizzazz to this cashew ricotta, you can do so with the following measurements:

  • Fresh chopped herbs: Add 1/3 cup of cilantro, dill, or basil
  • Pepper: Add one teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes for spice
  • Fresh chopped garlic: Add one or two cloves of minced garlic

Who doesn’t love a good snack? It’s so easy to open up a bag of chips and just start eating handful after handful. The same can be said for a bucket of popcorn. Unfortunately, we all know that these snacks are empty calories and only leave us wanting more. Plus, the sodium content is through the roof! The good news is that it’s possible to enjoy a crunchy snack in a healthy way.

That’s right, folks, we are talking about kale chips. These crunchy creations are not only addictively delicious, but also highly nutritious. Closely related to cabbage, broccoli, collard greens, and cauliflower, kale offers an assortment of nutrients, including vitamins, A, B6, C, & K, manganese, magnesium, riboflavin, folate, fiber, calcium, and other important plant compounds. The antioxidants in kale include quercetin and kaempferol, both of which are present in large amounts in kale. According to test-tube and animal studies, these compounds work to support heart health, reduce inflammation, slow the growth of cancer cells, and protect against chronic diseases.

What separates these kale chips from the next batch is that you dehydrate them after covering them in a creamy cashew cheese sauce. Because of that, the kale takes a lot longer to get crispy. You will need about 12 hours of dehydration in order to yield a crispy, cheesy kale chip. Before you sauce the kale in cashew cheese sauce, make sure to massage it with sea salt and lemon juice. Once the leaves are coated, you can toss them in the cashew sauce before placing them on dehydrator sheets. Don’t overlap the kale pieces or else they won’t get crispy.

Oh, this salad is oh, so flavorful. It’s got everything you want from a recipe: spice, zest, acid, sweet, tang, and more in every bite. Besides the impressive and refreshing flavors, this salad offers a variety of colors and textures. That makes for a more enjoyable eating experience with the added benefit of getting the various antioxidant compounds from the different-colored ingredients. Don’t let the recipe make you think that this is difficult to make, either. It comes together in a matter of 10-15 minutes and truly showcases the flavor of mango.

Traditionally, Thai mango salad is made with green mango, which is shredded or thinly sliced and mixed with red onion, cilantro, peanuts, fish sauce, and lime juice. The green mango, which is unripe, takes a similar role to green papaya, which is also unripe. Green mangos have a firm, crunchy texture and are quite tart. That’s why they are common in chutneys or pickles. Because green mangos are not as readily available in your average grocery store, we elected to use ripe mangos, which offer a juicy sweetness that complements the kick and punch of the other ingredients. Additionally, we replace the peanuts with raw cashews and, for obvious reasons, we omitted the fish sauce.

We always support culinary creativity at all times. If you feel that you have a cleanse-approved ingredient that would work well with the ones in this salad, feel free to add it in. What we do encourage is that you maintain somewhat uniform cuts for the ingredients. Slice the cucumbers and mangos thinly and on a diagonal so that they can be similar to the thinly sliced onions. Lastly, we only included red pepper flakes, not Thai chilies, because we care about not burning your taste buds off!
