One thing is for certain: you feel a lot better after enjoying a raw vegan dessert than after you eat a pint of ice cream or packaged pastry. Think of this dessert as raw vegan comfort food, only this recipe puts a zesty spin on a timeless classic. Carrot cake, depending on who you ask, ranks high in the dessert world, but all of the calories, unhealthy fats, sugar, and dairy products that go into it are not kind to the gut. Fortunately, this healthier, raw rendition provides all the flavor without the unwanted bloating that comes with eating regular cake.

Have you noticed that a lot of carrot cake recipes contain pineapple chunks? That is a personal preference, but it an add an interesting, somewhat weird, flavor to the cake. When you cut into a carrot cake and see real bits of carrot, though, you know you are in for a treat. Grated carrots add a surprising sweetness to carrot cake, and the fresh lemon and orange are very complementary. Your palate craves freshness and acid, which both the lemon and orange offer. But make no mistake: this is not a citrus-forward dessert like a lemon bar. This is carrot cake that has notes of refreshing citrus!

You can choose to make this raw vegan carrot cake in a round cake or pie pan, or you can make tiny cupcakes. Whichever method you choose is completely fine, but if the smaller individual pieces help you control your portions, go that route.

How is a two-ingredient chocolate truffle even possible? How could such a truffle be raw vegan? We have two ingredients that will explain: raw cacao powder and dates. This heavenly combination is the perfect combination of sweet and bitter. Because the raw cacao powder is unsweetened, it retains that classic bitterness from dark chocolate. Each bite is wonderfully balanced, but careful not to eat too much of them. Dates contain a lot calories and sugars and even though the sugars are natural, keep that in mind as you enjoy these desserts.

Dates are incredibly useful on the raw vegan diet. You can use them to sweeten smoothies or dressings, or incorporate them into desserts. We love Medjool dates, but make sure that they don’t contain any added sugars or preservatives. Typically, you have to buy dates in bulk. If you are worried that you won’t use them, you can pit the dates and then freeze them to keep them fresh for longer. When ready to use, you can soak the frozen dates in warm water before blending to ease that process.

Blitz these two ingredients together in a food processor until you achieve a smooth paste. The only thing left to do is form the mixture into small, bite-size truffles, and place them in the freezer to harden. You can enjoy them as is, or you can elevate them to the next level by dusting them with more raw cacao powder. We suggest that you dust the truffles instead of rolling them in raw cacao powder. You will likely end up with too much powder on the truffles. Use a mesh strainer to dust them and make sure to rotate them as you do it for an even coat.

Can you refer to these raw chocolate hazelnut truffles as energy bites? If you want to, then yes. We classify this recipe as more of a dessert than a snack, though. That said, they are rich in healthy fats and protein, making them great for satiating you between meals. One or two will do the trick because they are calorically dense because of the raw hazelnuts. Just one ounce of hazelnuts contains 176 calories, so just be mindful of that when enjoying this raw vegan dessert.

We often talk about the health benefits of almonds, walnuts, cashews, raw cacao powder, and other nuts and seeds. Because we don’t typically feature hazelnuts, we wanted to highlight how they benefit your health. Forget about Nutella for a second, because that doesn’t do your body any favors, despite how delicious it is. Although we don’t have a raw vegan version of Nutella, we do have this chocolate spread recipe (click here).

Hazelnuts are naturally rich in vitamin E, magnesium, copper, thiamin, manganese, folate, phosphorus, and vitamin B6. Health experts note that the antioxidants (phenolic compounds) in hazelnuts proved to lower blood cholesterol and inflammation. They may also help protect the heart and were able to significantly reduce oxidative stress. Additionally, the high concentration of antioxidants, specifically the proanthocyanidins, may offer anti-cancer properties. In fact, some test-tube and animal studies showed that proanthocyanidins may may help protect against certain cancers. Lastly, the manganese also aids the reduction of oxidative stress, which may further reduce the risk of cancer.

A dessert doesn’t get much easier than this, folks! Put away the eggs and forget the whole milk, heavy cream, or condensed milk because this recipe is 100% vegan. It is every bit as creamy and rich as regular rice pudding, only this variation is dairy-free. It’s a comforting dessert that people used to enjoy as children, but that rice pudding you used to know probably wasn’t made with oat milk or cashew milk.

The reason that this rice pudding does not call for almond milk or soy milk is because oat milk is wonderfully creamy. If you have a gluten sensitivity, consider replacing oat milk with cashew milk, as that has a lovely, creamy consistency. If you have an aversion to store bought nut or grain milks, feel free to make your own. In fact, we have recipes for both oat milk and cashew milk in our recipe section.

Although the recipe only calls for three ingredients, you have the freedom to add more if you want to enhance or customize the flavor. Include grade A maple syrup, vanilla extract, a pinch of sea salt, raisins, or even cocoa powder. The core recipe only calls for short grain rice, oat milk, and a cinnamon stick, which you can replace with some cardamom pods, depending on your flavor preference. Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a swirl of vanilla extract to add a floral note to this lovely vegan dessert. Let us know if it compares to the real thing!

Holiday cookie trays are incredibly addictive. Sprinkles and icing coat sugary creations that have a slightly crunchy exterior and soft and gooey interior. Is there anything better than a freshly baked cookie that is warm and soft on the inside? It’s perfectly acceptable to indulge your sweet tooth every now and again, but reaching for the cookie plate too many times may cause some blood sugar spikes. Instead, make healthier versions of classic holiday cookies, like these vegan snickerdoodle bites.

These snickerdoodle bites have all the nutritional benefits that a healthy snack should have. They offer plenty of healthy fats, plant-based proteins, complex carbohydrates, and a low-glycemic sweetener: maple syrup. You won’t find dairy products, artificial flavors, added sugars, or gluten in these tasty desserts. Just because they are healthy, that doesn’t mean they lack flavor or sweetness. In fact, after sinking your teeth into one of these for your first bite, you may convert to these forever!

If you want to live a little dangerously, go ahead and create a cinnamon/coconut sugar mixture to roll the snickerdoodle bites in after making them. In order to do this step, freeze the bites for 30 minutes after making them. Remove them from the freezer and then roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Place them back in the freezer for another 30 minutes and then remove from the freezer to enjoy. If you store them in an airtight container in the fridge, they will keep for two to three weeks. Store them the same way in the freezer for two months!

A quick disclaimer: although these cookies do not require baking, they are not raw vegan. That means that you cannot enjoy them if you are cleansing. Sorry, cleansers, but there are many more Full Body Cleanse-Approved desserts to choose from. Just look for the images that have that FBC-Approved tag on them and you can enjoy them.

These vegan no-bake snowball cookies are the perfect holiday treat. They are little balls of chewy goodness, and you can feel much better about eating them than other sugary, glittery holiday cookies. Snowball cookies are usually made with flour, nuts, sugar, and butter. After you bake them, you typically roll them in powdered sugar and then decorate as you please. Some people add a chocolate drizzle, while others prefer to add pecans, chocolate chips, or sprinkles. This recipe does not require any of those ingredients and although they aren’t 100% healthy, they are healthier than the classic version.

There are a few crucial steps to ensure the best no-bake snowball cookies. After you pulse the ingredients together in the food processor, you have to roll them into bite-size balls. Ideally, place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to avoid sticking. Place them in the freezer for about 30 minutes to harden before removing them to roll in unsweetened shredded coconut. After rolling them in coconut, place them in the fridge to harden and enjoy when ready. Perfect timing for your upcoming holiday dessert platter!

Fudgy, no-bake, raw vegan brownies are unmatched in flavor, ingredients, and deliciousness. Imagine eating a dessert without added sugars, dairy, or gluten. It just doesn’t happen that often! Although not entirely guilt-free, these raw vegan brownies take minutes to blend in the food processor. Simply spread them in a pan, place in the freezer to harden, and remove to enjoy chocolatey, brownie goodness with no refined sugar.

It’s hard to put out a pan full of brownies and not turn some heads. Most people have to resist eating the entire tray at first glance. There is a delicate dance in place, a knowing that eating a couple is fine, eating the entire tray is problematic. The great thing about these raw brownies is that they they contain healthy fats, fiber, protein, and other nutrients that promote satiety. Because they are richer in calories, you do not want to eat a ton. For example, this recipe yields an 8″x8″ pan, which you cut into 16 pieces. Each brownie has about 150 calories, due to the pecans, almonds, dates, and sesame seeds. Just keep that in mind when you reach for a square.

In order to make brownies, you need chocolate, but not the type you are thinking of. There is not processed chocolate powder mix in this recipe! This recipe calls for 100% raw cacao powder, which you should not confuse with cocoa powder. Cacao powder has powerful nutritional benefits and no added sugars, which cocoa powder tends to contain. That is a general rule of thumb with raw vegan recipes that call for chocolate, though. Always opt for raw cacao powder!

With these bites, you don’t have to worry about excess sugars, dairy products, or super fattening ingredients. Just be careful with how many of these delicious bites you eat in one sitting because they are calorically dense, due to the dates and nuts.

The ingredients that make up the base for these bites are medjool dates, carrots, and walnuts. The ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg are necessary for that quintessential carrot cake flavor. Desiccated coconut also adds body to the energy bites, but it also adds an extra nutty flavor. As you can see in the recipe photo, the energy bites were rolled in chopped desiccated coconut. This is an optional step, but it gives them a little extra pizzazz.

Once everything in the food processor blends into a dough-like consistency, it’s time to form the mixture into a bite-size balls. Ideally, you line a plate or baking sheet with parchment paper first to avoid sticking. Place them in the freezer for about 30 minutes before removing them to roll them in the desiccated coconut. Pumpkin spice is in the air, which means fall is in full swing. You cannot go out without seeing pumpkin spice! From coffee creamers and baked treats to lattes and more, pumpkin spice is in nearly everything. Not only is pumpkin spice or pumpkin pie glorious, but it is also warming, comforting, and tasty. And the great thing about this recipe is that you can enjoy it without the added sugars and excess calories.

Pumpkin puree, not sugary pumpkin pie filling, is highly nutritious. Orange pumpkins are naturally rich in potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and vitamin A, which is a key nutrient for eye health. Like other orange fruits and vegetables, pumpkins have lots of beta-carotene, an integral antioxidant that may keep your skin glowing. The fiber in pumpkin puree helps you feel full, so you won’t reach for unnecessary snacks after eating it. But pumpkin isn’t the only star of the show in this recipe. The chia seeds provide an impressive nutritional profile.

Chia seeds provide a similar amount of omega-3 fatty acids as ground flaxseed, but it is in the form of alpha linolenic acid (ALA). They are rich in fiber, which may help reduce cholesterol levels and promote healthier digestion. Because chia seeds can clump easily in this chia pudding, you have to whisk thoroughly before placing in the fridge to set overnight. After about six hours in the fridge, the liquid-like mixture thickens to turn into a pudding that has a similar texture to tapioca. Enjoy it as a healthy dessert or as a nutritious breakfast. Just as a reminder, though, this is only for people who are not cleansing because it is not raw vegan.

Sometimes, you just have to let the ingredients speak for themselves. That’s exactly what this recipe does! Completely raw vegan, these key lime coconut bars have a zesty flair, nutty crust, and great textures. No, the key lime layer does not resemble some nuclear green that looks incredibly unhealthy for you. This filling is closer to beige or off white with small speckles of green from the lime zest.

On the topic of limes, the recipe does call for freshly squeezed key lime juice. Now, if you cannot get your hands on key limes, you can use regular limes as a replacement. The same thing applies for the zest, as you will just use zest from whichever limes you can get your hands on. Limes offer a wide variety of nutrients, with one lime providing 32% of the recommended daily intake of vitamin C. Both lime juice and lime zest contain nutrients that may support heart health and improve the appearance of skin. Before you zest the limes, make sure to give them a good rinse and then pat them dry.

Although this recipe is made with raw vegan, all-natural ingredients, it does contain a hefty amount of calories. Coconut oil, raw walnuts, and raw cashews are calorically dense, so make sure you don’t eat all of these bars at once. One square will not only satiate you, but it will also satisfy your sweet tooth. The healthy fats are beneficial for the brain, heart, and your appetite. Plus, the fiber in the cashews and walnuts will keep you from eating 10 squares at time. Happy desserting!
