There are many people who like to start the year with a cleanse. It’s a fresh start, a chance to wipe the slate of holiday eating away. A cleanse is also a way to help promote weight loss, which is a common New Year’s resolution. The great thing about a cleanse, especially one like the Full Body Cleanse, is that it provides a clear plan for the user to succeed. But why reserve detoxification efforts for one time of year when you can aid the body’s detoxification processes with vegan foods year round?

What Is A Detox Food?

A detox food is something that assists the body in eliminating harmful toxins and waste. These foods not only have diverse nutritional profiles, but also powerful properties that aid detoxification. If you are feeling sluggish, for example, incorporating the foods in this article into your diet can give the body a helping hand. As a n added bonus, these vegan foods are naturally rich in antioxidants and fiber. They are low in saturated fat and cholesterol, while being rich in vitamins and minerals. Add the following foods to your plate to aid detoxification.

Beets

This vibrant red root veggie is one of the best detoxifying foods in the game. It works to push toxins out of the body while supporting the liver’s phase 2 detox. A healthy liver is necessary if you want to keep the body as clean as possible. The liver helps to cleanse the body, leading to better hormone balance, higher energy levels, and lower cholesterol levels. Beets are also rich in betaine, a potent antioxidant, and pectin, a fiber that clears boxing’s that the liver removes from the blood. Beets have also been known to aid immune function, fight inflammation, and assist with blood pressure management.

Asparagus

Those green spears are not only tasty, but also incredibly good for you. Asparagus contains glutathione, which is an antioxidant that aids detoxification. Asparagus also contains iron, fiber, folate, and vitamins A, C, E, and K. Several studies confirm that asparagus may help lower blood pressure and promote healthy kidney and bladder function

Grapefruit

A grapefruit is not just a food that belongs on an elderly person’s breakfast plate. It is naturally rich in vitamins A, C, and B1, in addition to pantothenic acid, fiber, biotin, and potassium. Researchers note that the enzymes in grapefruit work to break down the fat in the body, which helps encourage weight loss. Due to the fact that grapefruit interacts with certain medications, please consult your healthcare professional before increasing or starting your grapefruit intake.

Garlic

Many cultures have used garlic for its medicinal properties for hundreds of years. Historically, it was incorporated into herbal remedies to aid detoxification. Studies show that the vitamin C and other antioxidant compounds in garlic work to clean the blood, support immune function, and aid cholesterol reduction. The beauty of garlic is that you can incorporate it into your diet easily because it lends itself to myriad dishes.

Artichokes

First of all, eating spinach artichoke dip with chips does not count, and it definitely doesn’t aid detoxification. If anything, it gets in the way! Artichokes work to clean the liver and kidneys, while also helping to purify the blood. Artichokes cantina cynarin, an antioxidant that helps the liver produce bile, expel toxins, and digest fat. They also contain silymarin, which works to protect liver cells and membranes, allowing the liver to do its job and prevent against liver toxicity.

Ginger

Ginger is one of nature’s best medicinal plants, and it is especially helpful for the digestive system. Studies show that ginger helps to move toxins through the digestive tract more efficiently. That helps reduce gas and helps prevent bloating. Additionally, ginger is naturally rich in antioxidants, which protect your cells and boost immune function. A 2022 review found that the antioxidants identified in ginger may enhance or complement the treatment for obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and chronic kidney disease.

Broccoli

Broccoli, in addition to other cruciferous vegetables like cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, and cabbage, is a great food for supporting the liver. It is naturally rich in sulforaphane, a compound that helps fight off infectious cells in the body. Sulforaphane may also stimulate the liver to produce enzymes that aid with the detoxification. Broccoli also helps reduce inflammation throughout the body and promotes digestion by supporting a healthy microbiome.

If you are looking to aid detoxification during your efforts to go vegan, consider our Going Vegan 20-day Challenge. It has essential nutrients that many vegans struggle to get from foods alone, so it will only aid your dietary efforts and lifestyle shift. For a limited time (from 9/15/25 – 9/21/25), you can use code “GOVEGAN15” at checkout to get 15% off the product.

So…you have decided to cleanse. First of all, we want to commend your decision to do so, as it is a great investment in your overall health. Think of cleansing like taking your car in for service. Sometimes, you just need to flush the systems and replenish it with new fluids so it can drive smoothly. That’s exactly how you want your body to run: smoothly. While eating right and drinking water may be on your mind, you may also be wondering how to workout during your cleanse

Can I exercise while cleansing?” This is a question we receive quite a bit. We give a resounding “YES” to this question, but suggest that you listen to your body in this time of change. You are eating fewer calories and may not have the energy that you usually do. Listen to your body in order to exercise safely. Physical activity actually boosts the detoxification process, as it stimulates lymphatic flow, blood circulation, respiration, and promotes sweating. Additionally, it may improve digestion and the function of the kidneys, lungs, liver, and more.

One thing to note about exercise is that it is not the leading role in your cleanse. The best workout routines to do while cleansing are ones that elevate your heart rate slightly and help you break a sweat. Be kind and gentle to the body as you transition into this new dietary pattern and you’ll reap the results without suffering. No matter if you are doing a 10-day or a 20-day cleanse, the following workouts can help promote detoxification and support cleansing efforts.

Foam Rolling

Is this even an exercise? That is up for debate, but it is a form of myofascial release, which essentially releases the lymphatic fluid in your muscles. Foam rolling does more than just benefit your muscles! The connective tissue found throughout the entire body also receives the benefits that come from foam rolling. By releasing the tension in the tissue, you promote vitality within the fascia, which are small fibers responsible for giving muscles shape and tone.

Light Cardiovascular Exercise

Aerobic exercise is a form of exercise that gets your heart going. The lungs take in oxygen for the body’s necessary detoxification processes. It’s important to understand that you have to keep your heart rate steady by maintaining intensity. That’s when you’ll experience the most benefits. Some examples of light cardio include walking, cycling, hiking, using an elliptical machine, or engaging in a few quick interval circuits.

Dance

Yes, dance…as if nobody is watching. If you hate walking on the treadmill or cardio in general, you can amp up your heart rate by dancing. Pump up the jams, literally, and dance whether you are alone or hitting up the nearest Zumba class. In fact, Zumba is a top-notch cardiovascular workout! A detoxifying workout does not have to be conventional; rather, it can be a fun activity that feels good for your body. Zumba classes are usually very supportive and, more importantly, fun as can be!

Rebounding

This is a fun exercise that’ll take you back to the days of being a carefree child. Rebounding is a form of exercise that involves jumping on a small, springy trampoline (a rebounder). Due to its low-impact nature, it is a great cardiovascular exercise for older adults. The low-impact bouncing stimulates the lymphatic system, while also improving circulation and cardiovascular health. Some research suggests that it may even benefit bone density and reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Yoga

Could yoga be the quintessential detoxifying exercise? Some people think of yoga as glorified stretching, but it is a great way to improve flexibility and enhance core strength. Don’t worry about mastering 100 poses or grounding your flow. The point of yoga is to give frequently used muscles attention and love, and to build strength in small muscle fibers that don’t get a lot of love. By twisting, stretching, bending, and folding, you can help soothe the body into a lean, mean, detoxifying machine.

At Dherbs, we receive a lot of questions related to cleansing, most of which are about diet. People want to know what they can and cannot eat while cleansing. Another common question is, “Can I workout while cleansing?” It is completely fine to exercise while cleansing, but you have to be more in tune with your body while doing so. Allow your body the time, room, and space it requires to digest, process, reset, and restore, especially regarding its natural capabilities and functions.

If you are a fitness enthusiast and love getting in a good workout, you may be tempted to give it your all while cleansing. Remember that you are not eating as many calories and have to listen to your body, so as not to push it too much. Ideally, engage in light- to moderate-intensity physical activity. Aerobic exercise tends with light strength training is what we usually recommend, as both promote detoxification via sweat, lymphatic drainage, and healthy circulation

Tailor Exercise To Your Cleanse

While cleansing, choose the right intensity and type of exercise that supports your body. The last thing you want to do is put undue stress on a body that is out of its element. Low-impact activities, such as yoga, walking, gentle Pilates, swimming, and biking, are great options. These exercises help maintain a steady heart rate while promoting stress reduction. If you want to focus on mindfulness during your cleanse, consider focusing on yoga, Tai Chi, and stretching.

Always Listen To The Body

Since you have to follow a raw vegan diet, you are not consuming as many calories as you would outside the cleanse. That isn’t to say that you eat an unhealthy diet, but it is to say that most foods in the American diet are calorically dense. Some people who cleanse may have more energy than others. If you feel up to it, engage in a more strenuous workout that gets your blood pumping. Just make sure to listen to your body and strike a balance between feeling drained and revitalized.

Measure Progress And Celebrate Achievements

It is very common to notice changes in the body while cleansing. You may notice that your skin looks clearer and that your mind isn’t as foggy. We hope you notice some weight loss if that is your goal! Keep track of your progress, mentally, emotionally, and physically. Celebrate the wins, even the small ones, such as completing a yoga flow or walking an extra mile. A positive mindset goes a long way in helping you succeed while cleansing

Always Hydrate

You will be drinking more water than usual while cleansing, but pay extra attention to water intake when exercising. Drink plenty of water before, during, and after your workout to support the detoxification process and prevent dehydration. Additionally, fuel the body with nutrient-dense foods before and after the workout to encourage energy and muscle repair. Leafy greens, chia pudding, nuts, energy balls, and smoothies can be great options to provide energy.

Embrace Movement

Whether you are just starting your fitness journey or building on your love of exercise, one thing is for certain: movement is better than no movement at all. When you exercise regularly, you can enhance your metabolism, which increases the body’s ability to eliminate toxins. Plus, engaging in low-impact workouts can help reduce inflammation, promote better digestion, and improve sleep quality.

How Long Does Ozempic Last In Your System? https://www.dherbs.com/articles/how-long-does-ozempic-last-in-your-system/ Fri, 29 Aug 2025 09:41:00 +0000 https://www.dherbs.com/?p=176544

The post How Long Does Ozempic Last In Your System? appeared first on Dherbs - The Best All Natural Herbal Remedies & Products.

]]>

Ozempic is a prescription medication classified in a group of drugs known as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). The active ingredient in Ozempic is semaglutide, which you administer once a week by subcutaneous injection (under the skin). This drug is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for controlling blood glucose in people with type 2 diabetes. More recently, however, people have used Ozempic and similar drugs to promote weight loss.

Due to the popularity of Ozempic and other GLP-1 drugs for weight loss, some healthcare providers offer off-label Ozempic. That is specific to overweight or obese people living with risk factors such as high blood pressure or high cholesterol. If you take Ozempic, you might be wondering how long it stays in your system. That is especially true if you experience some of the unfortunate side effects

Is there actually a way to help clear Ozempic from your body faster? It can take weeks for the medication to naturally leave the system, but there are certain strategies to manage effects as it leaves the body. Continue reading to learn more about that.

How Long Does It Take For Ozempic To Leave Your Body?

Health experts note that it can take up to five weeks for the body to fully eliminate Ozempic. Unfortunately, there is no way to accelerate this process. Before you can understand how long it takes the body to eliminate Ozempic, it is helpful to know the drug’s half-life. Just like plutonium, coffee, or any other drug, Ozempic has a half-life. That is the amount of time it takes for half the drug to leave the body. The body eliminates some drugs faster than others, but generally speaking, it takes about five half-lives for a drug to be completely eradicated from the body.

Ozempic’s half-life is seven days, which means that it can take up to 35 days (five half-lives) for it to completely leave the body after the last dose was administered. The elimination process only begins after you administer the last dose of the medication. If you continue to take Ozempic, it will remain in your system and prolong the detoxification period.

Can You Get It Out Of Your System Faster?

As previously stated, the elimination of a drug from your body follows a natural timeline determined by:

 • The drug’s half-life
 • Metabolism (the process by which the body breaks down the drug)
 • Excretion (removal of the drug via urine or feces)

Generally speaking, there is no guaranteed or scientifically-backed way to expedite the removal process. For certain medications, you can receive specific antidotes or agents that can expedite the process. Narcan, for example, is a drug used to quickly reverse an opioid overdose. That is a specific situation and it does not apply to every drug or medication.

Basically, it is not possible to flush Ozempic out of your system faster than five to seven weeks. If you want to stop taking the GLP-1 drug, talk to your healthcare provider first. They will advise you on how to safely transition off the drug, which can help minimize side effects. The body will eliminate the drug at its own pace, but you should consult your healthcare provider if you are experiencing side effects or complications related to the medication.

The Takeaway

If you want to stop taking Ozempic or other GLP-1 drugs, there are safe ways to transition off the medication without experiencing negative side effects. By making healthy lifestyle changes, you can help regain control of your health and feel more like yourself once you get off the drug. Want a little assistance resetting your body? Try the Full Body Cleanse, which is a 20-day herbal cleanse designed to rid the body of toxins and waste and cleanse the body’s major organs and systems.

The post The Top 5 Benefits Of Exercising In The Heat appeared first on Dherbs - The Best All Natural Herbal Remedies & Products.

]]>

If you operate like most people, then you have to get out and do things during the summer. Moving your workouts outside allows you to embrace both the benefits of exercise and being in fresh air and nature. That is especially true if you go on scenic hikes, swim in lakes, or head to the beach. Although working out in the heat can bring about certain risks, it also brings a host of benefits, which we detail in this article.

You do not have to be a full-blown outdoors person to want to exercise outside. If you choose to train outside in the heat, you can reap several benefits, despite the challenges that it presents. Continue reading to learn about the top five benefits of exercising in the heat.

Enhance Mental Strength

When you run on the treadmill indoors and the air conditioning is going strong, you may get comfortable. That isn’t to say that running is easy, but you don’t have to face the elements, nor do you have to face uneven terrain. Running outside is a different experience, no matter the temperature. Training in the heat, though, requires you to adapt to the discomfort. In doing so, you actually build mental strength that you can transfer to everyday life, which helps you be more resilient overall.

Burn More Calories

The body’s temperature elevates a little more outside in the heat than it does inside an air-conditioned gym. That ultimately increases the body’s metabolic rate, and the body also has to work harder to cool down. In order to do both of those things, the body needs to burn more calories, which makes it a little easier to lose a couple pounds. Note that this is a temporary calorie expenditure and should not replace long-term strategies like strength training, consistent aerobic activity, and healthy diet.

Increases Sweat And Blood Circulation

When you are in hot weather, what do you notice? You sweat, right? The body’s natural response to heat exposure is increased sweat production and blood circulation. By learning to adapt to these circumstances, you train the body to become tolerant and familiar with a range of temperatures. Plus, working out in the heat can help improve heart rate and sweat rate, two things that boost cardiovascular health

Improve Endurance

Becoming more comfortable in an uncomfortable setting is the name of the game if you want to push your body. By pushing through the discomfort, you can improve your tolerance for tougher workouts. According to research, people who are more acclimated to heat and fully hydrated have less body heat storage and perform optimally during exercise-heat stress. Additionally, one study conducted on elite athletes shows that heat training increases the production of hemoglobin, a protein that carries oxygen to the body’s organs and tissues. That process helps to improve cardiovascular endurance

Encourages Detoxification

Research indicates that people routinely have sweating rates of one liter per hour when working in hot weather. The increased sweat rate actually encourages detoxification, allowing the body to get rid of excess toxins in the body via sweat. While this is beneficial, don’t forget that you must replenish fluids after expelling that much sweat. Drink plenty of water and consider adding electrolytes, or consuming electrolyte-rich beverages like coconut water, in order to enhance hydration and replenish minerals.

If you want to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your diet, start making smoothies. You can customize smoothies to align with your taste preferences, tailoring levels of sweetness, tartness, or bitterness to your liking. Plus, smoothies can help fill you up, provide you with lots of nutrients in one fell swoop, and help cool you down on hot summer days.

What flavors do you want to refresh your palate during the summer months? Tropical ingredients, such as mango, pineapple, papaya, kiwi, and acai tend to do just that! You don’t have to rush out to a specialty grocery store to grab the most exotic, tropical fruits you can find. A simple banana, blueberry, spinach, and mango smoothie will do you right! If you want to mix it up, though, you can enjoy the recipes in this article.

The Benefits Of Smoothies

Not only are smoothies delicious and refreshing, but they also provide essential nutrients that encourage optimal, overall health. Fruits, especially tropical varieties, tend to overpower the flavor of greens, which is great considering that a lot of people don’t consume enough greens every day. Spinach, however, does not exhibit strong flavor, despite the fact that it transforms the color to a rich emerald.

Hydration is of extra importance during the summer months. Most people don’t drink enough water as it is, and tend to drink dehydrating beverages, such as soda, alcohol, or caffeinated drinks. You can enhance your hydration efforts by consuming smoothies, especially when you add water-rich fruits and vegetables, such as watermelon, cucumber, citrus, or melons.

Finally, smoothies can be a helpful tool for total weight management. Smoothies are typically low-calorie meal options, unless you add lots of nuts or nut butters. The fiber from the fruits and vegetables helps keep you feeling full and satisfied for longer periods of time, which prevents overeating. If that sounds great to you, continue reading for five healthy and refreshing summer smoothies

Detox drinks have gained popularity as popular drinks that aid your weight loss efforts. They contain a mix of fruits, vegetables, herbs, or natural ingredients that boost the body’s ability to eliminate toxins. Think of “detox beverages” as an umbrella term for infused waters, juices, smoothies, teas, and other related drinks. Their appeal is simple: they offer a natural way to encourage detoxification in a refreshing, tasty, and easy-to-consume way.

What Are The Benefits And Claims?

There is no denying that people regularly ingest pollutants and artificial chemicals on a daily basis. From environmental pollution to heavily processed foods, harmful chemicals and pathogens are near impossible to avoid. Consuming detox drinks can give the body’s natural detoxification processes a helping hand. In fact, some healthcare experts praise detox drinks because they help relieve bloating, gas, headaches, fatigue, and may even help cleanse the liver and digestive tract.

Because detox drinks contain a diverse mix of natural ingredients, they work to enhance weight loss efforts and reduce inflammation. You may find that you experience a renewed sense of energy after consuming one or more of the drinks in this article. By promoting detoxification, you may experience reduced acne, hydrated skin, better digestion, fewer aches and pains, weight loss, and healthier hair. As always, though, maintaining a healthy diet, optimal sleep, and regular exercise is necessary for optimal health. The following beverages can aid your detox efforts, but they won’t counteract unhealthy diet and poor lifestyle habits.

Cucumber Mint Detox

Mint can help improve the flow of bile in the stomach and cucumbers help protect the body from oxidative stress. The combination of cucumber, mint, and lemon works well for maintaining the body’s fluid and mineral balance as well. All three ingredients contain beneficial antioxidants that may help improve digestion and neutralize free radicals. Prepare this drink by washing, peeling, and slicing two cucumbers. Add the sliced cucumbers, a handful of fresh mint leaves, and a sliced lemon to a large pitcher. Fill with water, stir, and refrigerate for about an hour so the flavors can infuse into the water. Sip and enjoy.

Orange Carrot Ginger Detox

Get ready for a major dose of beta-carotene and vitamin C, two antioxidant compounds that contribute to optimal digestion and immune function. According to health studies, beta-carotene may aid your weight loss efforts by improving digestion, just like ginger. Praised for its anti-inflammatory properties, ginger may reduce bloating, improve digestion, and reduce stomach cramps. In order to make this drink, juice one large carrot and two oranges separately. Pour both the orange and carrot juices into a blender and add one tablespoon each of freshly grated turmeric and ginger root. Blend for 30 seconds, strain the mixture, and then serve.

Pomegranate Aloe Vera Detox

Not only is this a visually stunning beverage, but it also does wonders for your digestive and immune systems. The important instruction here is to use fresh aloe vera, not store bought aloe juice. You want that gel straight from the source! Aloe vera has been known to reduce bloating, regulate bowel movements, relieve constipation, and improve digestive discomfort. Beet juice works to cleanse the liver, improve circulation, and cleanse the blood. Pomegranates happen to be one of the richest sources of antioxidants, which fight free radicals and boost immune function. To make this juice, peel the rind from an aloe vera plant leaf. Discard the rind and reserve about two tablespoons of aloe vera gel. Add that to a blender with two cups of unsweetened pomegranate juice and 1/2 cup of diced beet. Blend until smooth and mix in a dash of black pepper prior to serving.

Simple Lemon Detox

Drinking water is obviously beneficial for your health, promoting optimal circulation and waste elimination. Infusing your water with lemon can help enhance those efforts. Lemons are naturally rich in vitamin C, which benefits your bones, gums, skin, and immune system. It’s very easy to create this detox drink because all you have to do is squeeze two to three lemons in one liter of water. Add a pinch of sea salt, mix, and enjoy over ice.

Ginger Lychee Lemon Detox

As stated earlier, ginger is rich in anti-inflammatory properties that may ward off inflammation. Some research indicates that ginger may help the body cleanse certain organs. Additionally, lychee fruit contains epicatechin and rutin, two antioxidant compounds that help protect against chronic diseases, cataracts, oxidative stress, and more. Find a large mason jar and place a half-cup of minced ginger, half-cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice, and one cup of fresh lychee juice. Add ice to your desired temperature and a pinch of sea salt, mix, and then enjoy. You have the option to add some sliced grapes and a couple tablespoons of chia seeds for added nutritional benefits.

Summer translates to carefree fun in the sun, outdoor activities, and social gatherings, but it also invites unhealthy cravings. Foods that people consider classic refreshments, snacks, and desserts rack up excess calories. If the goal is to stay slim and summertime fine, the last thing you want is to accumulate waste in the body. Unfortunately, summer snacks and drinks can easily make that happen.

That’s where detox iced teas come enter the equation. Sip rejuvenating beverages that enhance hydration efforts and simultaneously aid with flushing harmful toxins out of the body. Regular consumption of these detox iced teas may aid weight loss efforts by increasing metabolism. It’s important to note that drinking detox teas and maintaining an unhealthy diet will not yield positive results. The teas do not simply cancel out poor lifestyle choices and unhealthy eating habits. Losing weight requires a multi-faceted approach, and these teas merely enhance weight loss efforts.

How Can Teas Boost Weight Loss?

One of the primary compounds of green tea leaves is caffeine. It acts as a mild stimulant that works to improve exercise performance and fat burning. According to research, the most impressive aspect of green tea’s nutritional profile is the antioxidant content. Researchers confirmed that drinking green tea works to slowly increase blood antioxidant levels. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is the standout antioxidant in green tea and it has been known to boost metabolism.

In order to burn fat, the body has to break down fat cells and move them into the bloodstream. EGCG works to inhibit an enzyme that breaks down norepinephrine, a hormone involved in fat burning. By inhibiting this enzyme, norepinephrine increases to enhance the breakdown of fat cells. Caffeine may also enhance the efforts of EGCG on fat cells. Additionally, EGCG increases the body’s ability to burn more calories, even at resting metabolic rate. Do you typically find yourself mindless scrolling through Instagram reels? Are you glued to your television binge-watching different shows and movies on a nightly basis? If you find that chunks of time are slipping away because of your screen addiction, you are not alone. Roughly 61% of people admit that they are addicted to digital screens and the internet. Worse than that, the constant connection to screens can take a toll on your mental health and overall quality of life.

That’s where a digital detox comes into play. A digital detox can help relieve anxiety, improve self-esteem, and encourage more restful sleep. According to one survey, about one-fifth of people cited technology as a source of stress. About 43% of respondents checked their emails, messages, and social media constantly. Another study found that about 25% of smartphone owners between the ages of 18 and 44 don’t remember the last time their phone wasn’t within arm’s reach.

Health experts note that heavy smartphone use can cause alterations in the brain. Every scroll, email check, or text message ping sends a dopamine rush to the same area of the brain that responds to addictive substances. If you feel like that describes you, a digital detox may be the right choice. Continue reading to learn how to do one.

Turn Off Your Push Notifications

Seeing constant updates about what is happening in the world can inform you of what is happening at all times. It can also be distracting, especially if you allow yourself to get interrupted throughout the day. You’re never truly focused if you are constantly distracted by notifications. One easy fix is to turn off as many notifications as you can live without. Consider muting group messages between friends that do not contain vital information, or turn off social media notifications.

Put Away Your Phone During Mealtime

How often do you go out to eat and see people with gleaming smartphone lights directed back at their faces? According to research, having your phone on the table can reduce the quality of interactions, even if you don’t check it. What happens is that your brain is essentially waiting for the phone to light up, meaning you are not fully present in the conversation. The more energy you direct toward your device, the less energy you have to give to whoever is with you.

Make Your Bedroom A Tech-Free Zone

Do you feel naked without your device in hand or next to you at all times? If you do, you need a digital detox. Now, most people use their phone as an alarm clock, so keeping it out of the bedroom may be an impossible feat. That said, if you take your phone to bed, it’s easy to start scrolling as soon as your head hits the pillow. Leave your phone on your nightstand, or in the drawer of your nightstand and invest in a simple alarm clock to avoid temptation. Screens also emit blue light, which can trick your brain into staying awake because it thinks that it’s daytime.

Limit Yourself To One Screen At A Time

How often do you watch something and end up on your phone about 10 minutes or so into whatever you’re watching? Multitasking is not a bad thing, but multi-screening is. Make a habit of only looking at one screen at a time in order to help improve concentration. Plus, focusing on a movie with the family can lead to more enjoyment, which you may not otherwise experience if you checked Facebook 12 times while watching the movie.

Convert To Black And White

We are not saying that you should revert back to the era before color television. What we are saying, though, is that smartphones are very alluring because of the vibrant colors and clarity. Many smartphones allow you to change the settings, allowing the phone to appear in grayscale. Removing vibrant colors may make your phone less pleasurable, which causes you to reduce overall screen time.

Spring Clean Your Social Media Accounts

Research shows that the more time you spend on social media, the likelier you are to feel worse about yourself. In fact, one study found that the more time participants spent on Facebook, the poorer their mental health outcomes were. That isn’t surprising when you consider the fact that people only see a highly curated version of peoples’ and celebrities’ lives. Don’t allow social media to suck you into its vortex! You can spring clean your social media accounts by blocking, muting, unfollowing, or deleting people or things that do not bring joy or happiness into your life. You can use social media to inspire positivity!

It’s impossible to escape technology these days, but you can do things to limit your screen time. If you find yourself checking emails, texts, and social media too frequently, consider doing a digital detox. It may just help you improve sleep, posture, and self-esteem.

It’s very easy for hair to become dry or brittle, especially when the weather changes. That is even truer if you spend a lot of time outdoors, more specifically in the pool or ocean. Not to mention the fact that harsh hair care products can damage hair, increasing the risk of hair loss, breakage, and frizz. Fortunately for you, the homemade hair oil treatment in this article can help nourish the scalp and promote healthier hair.

One of the great things about this hair oil treatment is that it is an inexpensive way to promote healthier hair, no matter your hair type. You can even use this product on children to help make hair more manageable! It can make hair easier to brush without irritating the tenderest of scalps. Let’s take a look at the ingredients to see why this treatment is a notch above the rest.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is known for its culinary applications, but it also has a long history of use in cosmetics. According to historians, Ancient Greeks used olive oil to make body care products, including salves, soaps, and massage oils. Researchers note that olive oil can be particularly beneficial for people with brittle hair strands. Several studies indicate that hair treated with olive oil is less prone to damage than hair not treated with olive oil. Olive oil also works to enhance the hair’s resilience, making it stronger and easier to detangle without breakage

Coconut Oil

In 2022, researchers conducted a study that tested the effects of coconut-based hair oils on human hair damaged by regular washing. Study authors concluded that coconut-based hair oils were able to reduce that damage. Researchers attribute this to the lauric acid content in coconut oil. Lauric acid is a type of saturated fat that may protect against protein loss, particularly keratin. Dyes, bleach, shampoos, and other styling products can damage hair, making it appear dull or fragile. Coconut oil contains triglycerides that are able to penetrate and interact with the hair cortex. In doing so, coconut oil can help reduce the amount of water hair absorbs, which limits daily damage.

Honey

Honey has both humectant and emollient properties, making it an excellent moisturizer for your hair. Humectants bond with water molecules, which works to add moisture to dry strands. Emollients help smooth hair follicles, helping to add shine to dull-looking hair. Because honey contains 0.5% protein, it may help restore weak and brittle hair strands. Protein treatments are very popular in modern hair care routine, considering that keratin is an essential protein that adds structure and strength to your hair.

Epsom Salt

Believe it or not, Epsom salt can benefit more than sore muscles or skin issues. According to researchers, Epsom salt may help cleanse the scalp by removing impurities, toxins, and excess sebum. By detoxifying the scalp, you unclog hair follicles, which can help improve nutrient absorption and promote hair growth

Hair Oil Treatment

Ingredients:

 • 2 tablespoons olive oil
 • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
 • 1 tablespoon honey
 • 1 teaspoon Epsom salt
 • 1-2 drops essential oil of choice (optional)

Instructions:

 • Add all of the ingredients (except the essential oil) to a bowl and use an immersion blender to combine. If you do not have an immersion blender, you can place the ingredients in a small saucepan over low heat and whisk as the ingredients warm up.
 • Add the essential oil to the mixture and whisk well to combine. Transfer the mixture to a glass jar and store in a cool, dry place.
 • When ready to use, shake well right before application. You can also warm it up in a microwave for 30 seconds or so to ensure the ingredients are fully liquified.
 • Massage the treatment into your hair and scalp, put a shower cap on, and leave the oil in your hair for 30 minutes.
 • Rinse the oil off in the shower and shampoo out.
