Mango strawberry sorbet is a pleasant, balanced frozen dessert that is a beautiful blend of the tropics. The sorbet is a vibrant color that is as inviting as its refreshing flavors. It is the perfect go-to treat for warmer spring weather. Each spoonful of this velvety sorbet melts gently on your tongue, leaving behind and sweetly tart flavor of strawberry mango goodness.

Should you not want to use mango, or if mangos are not in season in your area, you can swap them out for ripe peaches, nectarines, pineapple, or another fruit that yields a similar tropical flavor. You can also swap out the strawberries with other berries, such as raspberries, blackberries, or blueberries, if you prefer those flavors. Those other berries also go great with mango! Once you have your blend, taste the mixture and adjust the ingredients as needed. You may want to add more lime juice, agave nectar, or even more strawberries or mango. Trust your taste buds!

Once you blend the ingredients together, pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container. If you pour the mixture into a shallow dish, it will freeze more quickly than if you pour it into a deeper dish. Cover the dish and place it in the freezer for about four to six hours, or overnight. Just leave it in there until it is frozen solid. You can stir the sorbet every couple hours with a fork to break up any ice crystals that form. That will yield the best texture. When ready to serve, let the sorbet sit at room temperature for five to 10 minutes. That will allow it to soften just enough to be perfectly scoopable.

Add a little pep to your step when you start your morning with this energizing, refreshing green smoothie. Made with tropical, juicy pineapple, creamy banana, nutrient-dense kale, and homemade almond milk. this smoothie is an ideal breakfast or pre- or post-workout snack. It blends easily in less than a minute and you can personalize it with optional add-ons, including chia seeds, fresh ginger, lemon juice, or fresh mint.

If you have an aversion to kale, that is completely okay, but you are missing out on valuable nutrients by avoiding it. You can use spinach in its place, but should you decide to use kale, make sure that you remove the thick, fibrous stems. That will make all the difference to your smoothie. It makes it silky smooth and you won’t feel like you are chewing grass when you drink it. Ideally, you should use frozen pineapple chunks, as doing so adds thickness to the smoothie. Feel free to use fresh pineapple chunks if you prefer a lighter consistency to your smoothie.

We recommend using a frozen banana to create a lovely creamy base for your smoothie. That will pair beautifully with the homemade almond milk, which also adds a subtle nutty flavor that complements the rest of the ingredients. Should you have a nut allergy, feel free to replace the homemade almond milk with homemade hemp seed milk, homemade pumpkin seed milk, or even homemade sunflower seed milk. You can easily find recipes for all of those non-dairy milks in our recipe section.

You’ve seen them at the grocery store or in some influencer’s video on social media. Wellness shots are small, concentrated juices made with ingredients known to have beneficial properties that enhance overall health. They are meant to be an easy way to increase your nutrient uptake and encourage optimal immune function. Are they worth it? They can be, especially if you make them yourself.

Are They Worth A Shot?

The most popular form of wellness shots are immunity shots. People have been hyperconscious of enhancing or boosting the immune system ever since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The shots usually contain a high dose of vitamins and minerals that are necessary for optimal immune function; think vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin B12, zinc, and more. There is little evidence that these immunity shots can improve immune function, despite the fact that these nutrients are beneficial to overall health.

The research claims that they don’t enhance immunity because of the low bioavailability (absorbency rates). Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, has low bioavailability without the presses of peperine, a substance found in black pepper. It’s all about the right combinations, no matter which shots you decide to drink.

As a quick note, wellness shots cannot replace an overall healthy diet. Food is very complex and trying to find cure-all remedies within it is a fool’s errand. It is better to focus your efforts on consuming a diverse mix of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grains, and lean protein. Eating that way can provide you with essential vitamins and minerals, protein, fiber, antioxidants and more. These wellness shots will only enhance your food journey, providing you with health properties that may help you optimize your health.

When you want to be healthy and consume a lot of different fruits and vegetables in one meal, turn to old faithful: the reliable smoothie. You can create beautiful and harmonious flavors by blending different fruits and vegetables together. Sometimes, the smoothie can be sneakily healthy. How is that possible? You add fruits that are packed with antioxidants and vital nutrients to complement the vitamins and minerals in leafy greens.

The smoothie is green because it contains spinach. Like any other leafy green, spinach controls the color of the smoothie. Similarly, beets turn a smoothie red and blueberries turn a smoothie blue. The dark pigments, which are antioxidant compounds that benefit cellular health, in these ingredients are to blame. To blame or to thank? We will let you be the judge of that.

This green smoothie contains bananas, pineapple, and grapefruit. Before you add the banana and pineapple to the blender, you’ll want to peel them and roughly dice them. Scatter them across a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place in the freezer overnight. Make sure that the fruit pieces are in a single layer to avoid clumping. If you do not want to freeze the fruit, you can use fresh fruit and add ice until the smoothie reaches your desired consistency.

This pineapple spinach smoothie doesn’t just taste like a tropical vacation; rather, it acts like one for your cells. Spinach brings more than its vibrant green color to the smoothie. It contains lots of magnesium, iron, and natural nitrates that encourage healthy blood flow and mitochondrial energy production. That ultimately helps the body use oxygen more efficiently. While pineapple brings a lovely sweetness, it also provides lots of bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme that works to break down proteins and can aid digestive function. What does that mean for you? No more sluggish digestion and better cellular hustle.

Think of banana as the smooth operator for this smoothie, offering a creamy texture and lovely sweetness. It also provides potassium for proper nerve signaling and muscle function. Additionally, it contains prebiotic fibers that help feed beneficial bacteria in the gut. Unlike refined sugars, the natural carbs in banana work with fiber to deliver steady energy, as opposed to spiking blood sugar and then causing an inevitable crash. Chia seeds are the small but mighty ingredients that seal the deal. Once you hydrate them in liquid, they form a gel rich in soluble fiber that not only slows glucose absorption, but also supports satiety hormones and provides ALA omega-3s.

Finally, you have the addition of freshly squeezed lime juice: the smoothie’s unsung hero. Its citric acid works to enhance mineral absorption from leafy greens, while the inherent vitamin C supports collagen synthesis and fights free radical damage. The tartness balances the sweetness, keeping your palate (and insulin response) from going over the edge. Blend everything together and you have yourself a smoothie that is not only good for you, but also tastes refreshing and fills you up.

Cool, refreshing, and incredibly vibrant in both flavor and color, this cucumber pineapple smoothie is a perfect balance of crisp greens and tropical sweetness. The cucumber forms a light, clean base, helping you replenish fluids (due to the high water content) while providing potassium and antioxidants that help nourish the skin and digestive tract. Pineapple is not only juicy, but also brings out a bright, tangy flavor. Plus, it is brimming with bromelain, a powerful enzyme that aids digestion by helping the body break down protein. It may also help reduce inflammation, making pineapple both a functional and tasty smoothie ingredient.

Leafy spinach and ripe banana round out the blend for this smoothie, adding both nourishment and creaminess. Spinach is naturally rich in iron, folate, and chlorophyll, helping to support energy and cellular health. In addition to providing natural sweetness, banana contributes potassium and a smooth texture. The fruits and spinach in this smoothie create a light beverage that feels indulgent yet deeply nourishing, making it perfect for breakfast or post-workout recovery.

What truly elevates this smoothie to another level of nutrition is the addition of hemp seeds: real nutritional powerhouses, especially for people following in a raw vegan diet. Hemp seeds provide complete plant-based protein with all essential amino acids that the body cannot make, along with omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which encourage optimal heart and brain function. Rich in minerals like magnesium, zinc, and iron, hemp seeds add a little nutty richness while boosting the smoothie’s nutritional profile, making it both satisfying and sustaining.

From breaking down food and absorbing nutrients to enhancing immune function and energy production, the gastrointestinal tract plays a large role in your overall health. Maintaining a healthy digestive system benefits both your mental and physical well-being. There are many ways to encourage optimal digestive function, but one of the easiest ways is to add smoothies to your daily routine.

When you make smoothies a part of your daily regimen, you can help support regularity, improve nutrient absorption, and decrease bloating and digestive discomfort. Just because you drink a smoothie, that doesn’t give you an excuse to eat whatever the rest of the day. A large cup of nutrient-dense ingredients will not cancel out a calorically-dense, sodium-rich fast food meal.

Set yourself up for a bloat-free day by starting your day with any of the smoothies detailed in this article. As a quick note, not all of these smoothies are cleanse-approved. The reason for this is because some of the ingredients, such as oats and yogurt, offer pre- and probiotics that some raw vegan ingredients do not. If you make one or more of these smoothies and experience better digestive function, let us know in the comments.

Pineapple Ginger Green Smoothie

This is a refreshing green smoothie that tastes like a little slice of tropical paradise. Many of the ingredients in this smoothie contain compounds that help reduce inflammation and calm the stomach. Ginger, for example, exhibits natural soothing properties, while spinach offers iron, magnesium, protein, folate, and other essential vitamins and minerals. Pineapple adds some sweetness, along with bromelain, a digestive enzyme that helps break down proteins. That makes this blend of ingredients perfect for soothing the digestive tract.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1/2 cup pineapple, cubed
  • 1 banana, peeled and sliced
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed

Instructions:

  • Add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Pour into two large cups and enjoy immediately.

Pear Cardamom Oat Smoothie

Talk about fall in a cup! Pears are not only seasonal fall fruits, but they are also excellent sources of fiber (both soluble and insoluble) and sorbitol and fructose, two sugars that stimulate digestion. Both soluble and insoluble fiber help maintain bowel regularity by softening stool to make it easier to pass. Oats also contain fiber, protein, and complex carbs.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 pear, cubed
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 teaspoons agave nectar
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom

Instructions:

  • Add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. If the smoothie is too thick, add a little more almond milk or water to thin it.
  • Pour into a large cup and enjoy immediately.

Cucumber Mint Probiotic Smoothie

Ideal for warmer days, this smoothie is as cool and hydrating as it is beneficial for the digestive tract. Mint, just like ginger, works to soothe the digestive system, while yogurt provides essential probiotics to help maintain healthy gut flora. It is a refreshing smoothie choice for anyone looking to boost digestive function.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cucumber, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup mint leaves
  • 1/2 banana, peeled and sliced
  • 1 teaspoon agave nectar
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions:

  • Add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Pour into a large cup and enjoy immediately.

Avocado Banana Yogurt Smoothie

Is this a smoothie or a milkshake? We’ll leave that for your taste buds to decide! This ultra creamy smoothie is rich in healthy fats and probiotics. Studies show that avocado works to soothe the digestive tract, while Greek yogurt supplies the gut with beneficial bacteria. Both the ground flaxseed and cinnamon add fiber and anti-inflammatory properties, which may help relieve bloating.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 avocado, pitted and peeled
  • 1 small banana, peeled and sliced
  • 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed
  • Dash of cinnamon

Instructions:

  • Add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. If you want, you can freeze the banana prior to blending to make the smoothie extra creamy.
  • Pour into two large cups and enjoy immediately.

Creamy Paleo Green Smoothie

Silky smooth and undeniably delicious, this creamy green smoothie is naturally rich in chlorophyll, fiber, iron, and vitamins C, K, and so much more. It contains flaxseed and avocado, both of which provide omega-3 fatty acids, which benefit brain and heart health. Ground flaxseed also helps to regulate bowel movements and improve energy levels, due to the presence of lignans. Just remember that a little flaxseed goes a long way.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 avocado, peeled and pitted
  • 1/2 cup spinach
  • 1/2 banana, peeled, sliced, and frozen overnight
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground flaxseed
  • 1/2 Medjool date, pitted

Instructions:

  • Add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Pour into a large cup and enjoy immediately.

For many people, constipation and digestive troubles are not comfortable topics to discuss in public. We do not believe in talking about such topics in private because they affect millions of people worldwide. Nobody wants to struggle on the toilet, especially when eliminating with ease is very attainable. All you have to do is give the body the right foods, engage in some light physical activity, and make a few other small adjustments.

When you maintain a fiber-rich diet and drink a lot of water, you can help prevent constipation. You can increase your fiber intake and enhance hydration efforts by drinking certain smoothies, such as this recipe for constipation relief. This smoothie is the perfect blend of liquid and fiber. Plus, it is pre-digested, meaning the body does not have to work hard to break down the food to absorb nutrients.

One of the ingredients that benefits digestion is pineapple, which contains the enzyme bromelain, which works to improve digestion and reduce inflammation. Bromelain works to break down protein in the body, and some studies indicate that it may support weight loss because bromelain can increase the speed at which the body digests fats. Additionally, bromelain exhibits anticancer effects, but this research was limited to in vivo and in vitro studies. More research is still necessary to confirm these results in adults.

One of the best things about summer celebrations is the food. People get to show off their culinary skills, usually in the form of dips, snacks, and appetizers. Finger food is exactly what you want at a potluck, picnic, barbecue,  or cookout. Although you can use slow cookers, Instant Pots, or grills to make main dishes, they don’t have anything on snacks and apps! That’s why this article is all about dippin’ and chippin’.

The truth is that people will eat almost any dip at a party or gathering, so long as it is tasty. We don’t mess around with flavor here at Dherbs! Every dish you make needs to impress your taste buds, but that doesn’t mean each dip requires a long list of ingredients. As with most recipes, the quality of the ingredients is what makes the dish. If you make vegan bruschetta, for example, opt for heirloom tomatoes in place of Roma tomatoes. Quality ingredients elevate an average dish to something spectacular!

Why make your own dips when there are so many dip options in grocery stores? This is a valid question, and the simplest answer is that almost every store bought dip contains processed ingredients and preservatives. Do you want to worry about high sodium levels when you are dipping on Labor Day? We didn’t think so. With the following dips, you can both enjoy their flavors and feel good about eating them. If you make some of the dips, drop a comment to let us know if you enjoy them!

Free yourself from the store bought box of popsicles that is seemingly healthy and go straight for the good stuff with these refreshing pineapple possibles. All you need are three simple ingredients and about 15 minutes of your time. Well, you also need to have some patience because the popsicles need to freeze before you can enjoy them. In fact, we think that waiting is the hardest part of this entire recipe!

Popsicles make for the perfect summer treat, whether you want to cool off on a hot day or make healthy treats for the little ones. Not only are these pineapple popsicles raw vegan, but they are free of the unhealthy colors, syrups, and artificial flavors that most store bought popsicles have. They are also highly versatile, meaning you can add or subtract ingredients if you so desire. Just make sure that the ingredients you add are cleanse-approved if you still want this recipe to be raw vegan. You can add mango, passion fruit, or even berries!

When it comes time to pick your pineapple, make sure to choose a ripe one. The easiest way to do this is by pulling one or two of the central green leaves out of the top. If the leaves come out easily, then the pineapple is ripe and good to go. If it is hard to pull one out, the pineapple still needs time to ripen. Using a sweet pineapple is totally fine because of the fresh lime juice in the popsicles. It really goes well with pineapple sweetly tart flavor. We hope you love this recipe as much as we do. Tag us if you take a pic with one in the summer sun!
