Have you been looking for a drink to renew your energy, help you feel great, and improve digestion? These blue spirulina wellness shots contain a diverse nutritional profile that can help supercharge your body. Compared to other wellness shots, these ones are among the best, at least in our opinion. They contain ingredients that exhibit impressive anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and detoxifying activity. Think of these shots as bright blue elixirs for total body health. No fancy juicing equipment needed, either! Add everything to a blender, blend until smooth, and pour through a fine mesh sieve, pressing the contents to extract every last drop of juice.

Blue spirulina gives these wellness shots their vibrant color, and it is also the star of the show. Derived from blue-green algae, this superfood has a high protein content and anti-inflammatory properties. It also contains phycocyanin, a powerful antioxidant that supports brain function and combats free radicals. Blue spirulina also provides vitamins B1, B2, and B3, in addiction to omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. Several studies found that blue spirulina significantly lowered LDL (bad) cholesterol and triglyceride levels. At the same times, spirulina works to increase HDl (good) cholesterol levels.

These wellness shots also contain fresh ginger, apple, lemon, and maple syrup for a touch of sweetness to balances the spicy ginger and tart lemon. Ginger works to boost circulation and support digestion, while lemon provides vitamin C, promotes hydration, and helps alkalize the body. Not only is apple rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, but it also contains natural sweetness to help balance the wellness shots. In addition to sweetening the shots, maple syrup also provides manganese and zinc, two essential trace minerals.

For many Americans, the predominant feasting days are Thanksgiving, Christmas, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Super Bowl Sunday. The Super Bowl, also known as the big game, is not just an ordinary watch party to cheer on football teams. It is a day to enjoy everyone’s favorite snacks, comfort foods, and drinks. The spread is almost more important than the game, commercials, and halftime show.

Super Bowl Statistics

During Super Bowl Sunday, an estimated 48 million Americans order take out. Nearly 60% of those take out orders are pizza, which is partially attributed to all the advertisements. Plus, pizza is an easy, affordable entree that can feed a lot of people. In addition to pizza, chicken wings and chips and dips are the most popularly ordered foods. Did you know that an estimated 1.25 billion chicken wings are eaten during Super Bowl Weekend? That equates to nearly 162.5 million pounds of chicken, proving that this weekend is responsible for 7% of chicken sales for the year.

Food and beverages account for the majority of spending for at home celebrations for the big game. The latest analytics for the 2026 game suggest that 213.1 million U.S. adults plan to watch the game. This year, about 121.1 million people plan to throw or attend a party, while another 18.2 million plan to watch at a bar or restaurant. Total spending on food, drinks, apparel, and decorations for the 2026 game is expected to reach a record $20.2 billion, which equates to about $94.77 per person.

If you want to take a different approach to your game day spread, we’ve got some great recipes for you. The following appetizers and dips may not even make it past the first half! That’s how good they are! Let us know which ones you end up making on game day in the comments.

There are several signature fall fruits, including apples, persimmons, pomegranates, grapes, figs, and cranberries. One of our favorite fall fruits is the pear, which is as versatile as it is refreshing and delicious. Pair your pears with sweet, spicy, savory, or tart flavors and you’ll be pleased. That’s why we added ginger to this pear smoothie. The natural sweetness of the pear is a great balance to the spicy kick of the fresh ginger.

Pears are often underutilized ingredients in smoothies. They are popular to enjoy as healthy snacks, but people also add them to salads and some desserts. These bell-shaped fruits deserve a little more attention in smoothie recipes, not only for their flavor, but also for their impressive nutritional profile. A single medium pear provides:

 • Calories: 101
 • Carbohydrates: 27 grams (g)
 • Protein: 1 g
 • Fiber: 6 g
 • Vitamin C: 9% of the daily value (DV)
 • Potassium: 4% of the DV
 • Copper: 16% of the DV
 • Vitamin K: 7% of the DV

The same serving also provides small amounts of other micronutrients, including folate, niacin, provitamin A, and polyphenol antioxidants. Pears with green skin, such as Bartlett pears, contain lutein and zeaxanthin, two compounds that are integral for healthy vision. Ruby-red pears, for example, contain anthocyanins that may help improve heart health and protect against certain types of cancer.

Spicy Fire Cider: A Natural Cold Remedy? https://www.dherbs.com/articles/spicy-fire-cider-a-natural-cold-remedy/ Sat, 18 Oct 2025 09:38:00 +0000 https://www.dherbs.com/?p=176851

Spicy fire cider is an herbal tonic that people turn to boost immune function. Can it reduce colds and enhance digestion, or is it all hype?

The post Spicy Fire Cider: A Natural Cold Remedy? appeared first on Dherbs - The Best All Natural Herbal Remedies & Products.

]]>

For hundreds of years, different civilizations used their own versions of fire cider or herbal tonics to promote general well-being. These days, you can see people and “wellness gurus” alike making spicy fire cider on TikTok or Instagram. The claim is that it not only enhances immune function, but it is also a natural cold killer.

What Is Fire Cider?

Fire cider is a spicy, homemade drink made with all-natural ingredients that help optimize immunity. The proponents of fire cider claim that when all of the ingredients work in unison, they create a super beverage that can help prevent you from getting sick. The term “fire cider” was coined by Rosemary Gladstar in 1970, when she published a recipe that used:

 • Raw apple cider vinegar
 • Garlic
 • Ginger
 • Honey
 • Horseradish root
 • Onion
 • Cayenne pepper

Since then, many people have published variations of the drink, with some including ingredients like:

 • Elderberry
 • Rosemary
 • Turmeric
 • Orange or lemon zest
 • Jalapeño or habanero peppers

Once you have your recipe of choice, combine all of the ingredients (except honey) in a glass jar and let it sit in a cool, dark place. After the ingredients steep for one month, you strain the liquid through a cheesecloth and add honey to taste. That liquid is the fire cider, which sounds interesting, but how effective is it?

Are There Benefits?

The predominant claims from people who love fire cider are that it helps fend off sickness and builds a healthy immune system. The unfortunate reality is that there is no scientifically-backed evidence stating that fire cider actually works. What is true is that the ingredients offer beneficial nutrients that can encourage healthy immune function. They do not, however, possess the abilities to prevent or cure illness. Continue reading to learn about the benefits of some of the ingredients.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Since the times of the Ancient Greeks, vinegar has been used to help treat sores and clean wounds. In recent years, apple cider vinegar has received a lot of attention because people claim that it can aid weight loss, improve digestion, enhance immunity, and more. Test tube studies found that apple cider vinegar effectively killed certain disease-causing yeast and bacteria. Other studies found that consuming apple cider vinegar can help lower total blood cholesterol and blood sugar. More research is needed in both regards, though.

Ginger

This is a common spice used to help soothe a sore throat and an upset stomach. Researchers have studied ginger extensively because it is effective at relieving nausea, easing period cramps, relieving muscle and arthritis pain, and reducing inflammation. Although ginger is thought to enhance immune function, there is no scientific evidence that supports that. Some people also claim that it aids weight loss by promoting feelings of fullness. There is no evidence that supports that either.

Hot Peppers

You can include cayenne pepper, jalapeños, or other spicy peppers in fire cider. Peppers are naturally rich in vitamin C and contain active compounds that may help you live longer, according to some research studies. Capsaicin is the active compound that is responsible for the heat in peppers, but it also exhibits impressive antimicrobial activity. Capsaicin can irritate the skin, so make sure to wash your hands after handling hot peppers, as you don’t want to touch your eyes or other sensitive areas.

Garlic

If you know anything about garlic, you know that it has a lot of “antis,” such as antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-diabetic, and anti-cancer properties. Garlic can be hard to digest for certain people because it contains fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols (FODMAPs). For this reason, garlic can occasionally cause cramping, bloating, and diarrhea in certain people.

Honey

Many people celebrate honey for its antimicrobial properties, and it has been used in healing practices since ancient times. Medical grade honey may help remedy minor wounds, diabetic ulcers, and burns. You do not find medical grade honey on your average grocery store shelf, though. The honey you have in your pantry will not kill or prevent the common cold. It is possible for honey to soothe a sore throat and ease some symptoms of respiratory infection.

Get ready to enjoy a refreshing peach salsa that as visibly stunning as it is flavorful. It’s a unique take on the classic pico de gallo, combining the natural sweetness of ripe peaches with classic zesty, tangy, spicy salsa ingredients. Made with freshly diced peaches, this salsa incorporates red onion, jalapeño, cilantro, tomato, and lime juice, creating a perfectly balanced blend of sweetness, heat, and acidity. The result is a bright and inviting dip that enhances a variety of dishes.

The texture of this peach salsa is lively and appealing, offering juicy, tender peach cubes that provide a punch of natural sweetness with every bite. The addition of crunchy elements like diced red onion and crisp cilantro adds contrast, while the jalapeño brings a slight kick that elevates the overall flavor profile. Not a huge fan of spice? You can omit the jalapeño, or tame the spice by removing the seeds before dicing it up. Lime juice not only adds acidity, but also helps to bring out the freshness of the ingredients, making the salsa especially vibrant and lively. It also works to reduce that allium flavor in the onion.

This salsa is perfect for summertime gatherings or any occasion that calls for a light, refreshing appetizer. Not only is it incredibly versatile, but it is also easy to prepare. The sweet and spicy notes make it a delightful accompaniment for those seeking a fresh, fruity twist. Don’t be afraid to just dive in and treat it as the delicious dip it is!

Get ready to enjoy a vibrant marinated salad that features crisp cucumbers, juicy tomatoes, and sharp onions, creating a refreshing medley of flavors and textures in your mouth. Using your best knife skills, slice all of the ingredients to be uniform. If you want, you can slice the onions a little thinner than the other ingredients before combining them in a bowl. By marinating the ingredients in the oil, vinegar, herbs, and seasonings, you let their natural juices mingle, enhancing the overall freshness. The extra virgin olive oil adds a smooth richness, while the apple cider vinegar provides a tangy brightness that elevates the flavors.

To deepen the flavor profile, we added freshly chopped parsley and dill, but you can choose one or the other if you have an aversion to a particular herb. The herbs provide aromatic herbal notes that complement the vegetables beautifully. The addition of minced garlic introduces a pungent, savory layer that enhances the salad’s complexity, making each bite more flavorful and enticing. The combination of herbs and garlic transforms this simple salad into a fragrant, savory side dish suitable for any meal.

Marinating the vegetables allows the flavors to meld beautifully over time, resulting in a salad that is both tangy and herbaceous with a satisfying crunch. The acidity from the vinegar balances the richness of the olive oil, while the herbs and garlic provide a fresh, aromatic finish. This marinated cucumber, tomato, and onion salad is an effortless, wholesome dish ideal for picnics, barbecues, or as a cooling accompaniment to spicy or hearty meals.

Get ready to spice up your life and refresh your palate with this new refreshing raw vegan cucumber salad. Skip the leafy greens this time, folks, and save them for a rainy day. This salad is all about the crunchy cucumber, which offers a lovely crisp texture that helps to promote hydration. At its core, this salad is merely a mound of thinly sliced cucumbers, but the dressing is the real star of the show, offering acidic, spicy, and herbaceous notes from the cilantro and mint, which elevate the dish’s aromatic qualities.

The dressing combines tangy apple cider vinegar, a touch of coconut aminos, and a hint of fresh lime juice to create a zesty kick. You cannot forget the red pepper flakes, which bring the spicy kick to the flavor party. Because this dressing includes coconut aminos, you don’t want to use a very flavorful oil. We used avocado oil, as opposed to olive oil, for the neutral flavor. It’s also full of healthy fats! Add all of those things together and you have an incredibly harmonious dressing that effortlessly envelops the crisp cucumber slices with impressive flavor that your taste buds cannot resist.

Last, but certainly not least, garnish the salad with a hefty serving of sesame seeds. If you’re feeling a little daring and crave a little more intensity, add some thinly sliced red onion or chopped green onion to the salad. Spring is the perfect time to enjoy this salad, which is ideal for warmer days. It’s truly a delightful culinary experience that is both nourishing and satisfying.

You do not typically see cucumbers in a coleslaw recipe. Traditionally, you have green and purple cabbage, carrots, and potentially some other ingredients, such as apples, herbs, or nuts. This slaw is a slight departure from the traditional recipe, especially in regards to the dressing. A typical coleslaw dressing is mayonnaise-based, but you cannot have that while cleansing. Instead, we went a slightly Asian route and created a highly addictive, somewhat spicy ginger dressing. You lightly dress the slaw in the dressing, being careful not to douse the slaw in it. Doing so will cause the cucumbers to become a bit soggy.

If you don’t want to serve it as a slaw, you can simply cut the cucumber and carrots into thicker sticks to dip in the ginger dressing, omitting the cabbage because nobody dips shredded cabbage. Planning on making a bigger batch for a potluck or gathering? Leave the dressing on the side so that the cucumbers don’t get soggy.

Unlike traditional Asian dressings, this one calls for apple cider vinegar in place of rice vinegar. Apple cider vinegar has a bit more bite to it than rice vinegar, but that works with the naturally sweet coconut aminos. You’ll also notice that the dressing calls for avocado oil, not olive oil. The reason for this is because olive oil’s flavor can be a bit strong for an Asian-inspired dressing. Avocado oil has a more neutral flavor that doesn’t take away from the other ingredients.

Oh, this salad is oh, so flavorful. It’s got everything you want from a recipe: spice, zest, acid, sweet, tang, and more in every bite. Besides the impressive and refreshing flavors, this salad offers a variety of colors and textures. That makes for a more enjoyable eating experience with the added benefit of getting the various antioxidant compounds from the different-colored ingredients. Don’t let the recipe make you think that this is difficult to make, either. It comes together in a matter of 10-15 minutes and truly showcases the flavor of mango.

Traditionally, Thai mango salad is made with green mango, which is shredded or thinly sliced and mixed with red onion, cilantro, peanuts, fish sauce, and lime juice. The green mango, which is unripe, takes a similar role to green papaya, which is also unripe. Green mangos have a firm, crunchy texture and are quite tart. That’s why they are common in chutneys or pickles. Because green mangos are not as readily available in your average grocery store, we elected to use ripe mangos, which offer a juicy sweetness that complements the kick and punch of the other ingredients. Additionally, we replace the peanuts with raw cashews and, for obvious reasons, we omitted the fish sauce.

We always support culinary creativity at all times. If you feel that you have a cleanse-approved ingredient that would work well with the ones in this salad, feel free to add it in. What we do encourage is that you maintain somewhat uniform cuts for the ingredients. Slice the cucumbers and mangos thinly and on a diagonal so that they can be similar to the thinly sliced onions. Lastly, we only included red pepper flakes, not Thai chilies, because we care about not burning your taste buds off!

Sometimes you have a salad prepared, but there is no dressing in sight. Sure, you can whip up a quick apple cider vinaigrette in a matter of minutes, but sometimes your taste buds require something more elevated. Enter this cilantro lime dressing. The truth is that a salad dressing is 50% (if not more) of a salad. A terrible dressing will ruin a salad, no matter the salad ingredients. Not every dressing goes with every salad, though. Sometimes, though, you find a dressing that seems to go great with every salad recipe, and that is how we feel about this dressing.

The great thing about this cilantro dressing is that you can use it on a raw vegan salad, pasta salad, a bowl of quinoa, a marinade for wild caught fish, or as a dipping sauce for roasted vegetables. In a normal recipe, you’d see Greek yogurt or sour cream on the ingredient list. Because this is a raw vegan recipe, we used avocado to achieve the same creaminess that those ingredients would be used for. Additionally, we added some fresh jalapeño to kick up the spice just a hair. If you are a bit timid around spicy food, you can omit this ingredient. Curious about a little spice? De-seed the jalapeño and then add it to the blender with the rest of the ingredients.

With spring approaching, this is the perfect dressing to have in your pocket of recipes. It goes great with refreshing salads that have sweet, tangy, and slightly bitter ingredients. Because it has avocado, you’ll consume a lot of healthy fats along with your salad, which helps fill you up: a crucial thing to keep in mind if you are cleansing. Finally, make sure that you consume this dressing within three to four days for optimum freshness.
