Get ready to spice up your life and refresh your palate with this new refreshing raw vegan cucumber salad. Skip the leafy greens this time, folks, and save them for a rainy day. This salad is all about the crunchy cucumber, which offers a lovely crisp texture that helps to promote hydration. At its core, this salad is merely a mound of thinly sliced cucumbers, but the dressing is the real star of the show, offering acidic, spicy, and herbaceous notes from the cilantro and mint, which elevate the dish’s aromatic qualities.

The dressing combines tangy apple cider vinegar, a touch of coconut aminos, and a hint of fresh lime juice to create a zesty kick. You cannot forget the red pepper flakes, which bring the spicy kick to the flavor party. Because this dressing includes coconut aminos, you don’t want to use a very flavorful oil. We used avocado oil, as opposed to olive oil, for the neutral flavor. It’s also full of healthy fats! Add all of those things together and you have an incredibly harmonious dressing that effortlessly envelops the crisp cucumber slices with impressive flavor that your taste buds cannot resist.

Last, but certainly not least, garnish the salad with a hefty serving of sesame seeds. If you’re feeling a little daring and crave a little more intensity, add some thinly sliced red onion or chopped green onion to the salad. Spring is the perfect time to enjoy this salad, which is ideal for warmer days. It’s truly a delightful culinary experience that is both nourishing and satisfying.

You do not typically see cucumbers in a coleslaw recipe. Traditionally, you have green and purple cabbage, carrots, and potentially some other ingredients, such as apples, herbs, or nuts. This slaw is a slight departure from the traditional recipe, especially in regards to the dressing. A typical coleslaw dressing is mayonnaise-based, but you cannot have that while cleansing. Instead, we went a slightly Asian route and created a highly addictive, somewhat spicy ginger dressing. You lightly dress the slaw in the dressing, being careful not to douse the slaw in it. Doing so will cause the cucumbers to become a bit soggy.

If you don’t want to serve it as a slaw, you can simply cut the cucumber and carrots into thicker sticks to dip in the ginger dressing, omitting the cabbage because nobody dips shredded cabbage. Planning on making a bigger batch for a potluck or gathering? Leave the dressing on the side so that the cucumbers don’t get soggy.

Unlike traditional Asian dressings, this one calls for apple cider vinegar in place of rice vinegar. Apple cider vinegar has a bit more bite to it than rice vinegar, but that works with the naturally sweet coconut aminos. You’ll also notice that the dressing calls for avocado oil, not olive oil. The reason for this is because olive oil’s flavor can be a bit strong for an Asian-inspired dressing. Avocado oil has a more neutral flavor that doesn’t take away from the other ingredients.

Oh, this salad is oh, so flavorful. It’s got everything you want from a recipe: spice, zest, acid, sweet, tang, and more in every bite. Besides the impressive and refreshing flavors, this salad offers a variety of colors and textures. That makes for a more enjoyable eating experience with the added benefit of getting the various antioxidant compounds from the different-colored ingredients. Don’t let the recipe make you think that this is difficult to make, either. It comes together in a matter of 10-15 minutes and truly showcases the flavor of mango.

Traditionally, Thai mango salad is made with green mango, which is shredded or thinly sliced and mixed with red onion, cilantro, peanuts, fish sauce, and lime juice. The green mango, which is unripe, takes a similar role to green papaya, which is also unripe. Green mangos have a firm, crunchy texture and are quite tart. That’s why they are common in chutneys or pickles. Because green mangos are not as readily available in your average grocery store, we elected to use ripe mangos, which offer a juicy sweetness that complements the kick and punch of the other ingredients. Additionally, we replace the peanuts with raw cashews and, for obvious reasons, we omitted the fish sauce.

We always support culinary creativity at all times. If you feel that you have a cleanse-approved ingredient that would work well with the ones in this salad, feel free to add it in. What we do encourage is that you maintain somewhat uniform cuts for the ingredients. Slice the cucumbers and mangos thinly and on a diagonal so that they can be similar to the thinly sliced onions. Lastly, we only included red pepper flakes, not Thai chilies, because we care about not burning your taste buds off!

Sometimes you have a salad prepared, but there is no dressing in sight. Sure, you can whip up a quick apple cider vinaigrette in a matter of minutes, but sometimes your taste buds require something more elevated. Enter this cilantro lime dressing. The truth is that a salad dressing is 50% (if not more) of a salad. A terrible dressing will ruin a salad, no matter the salad ingredients. Not every dressing goes with every salad, though. Sometimes, though, you find a dressing that seems to go great with every salad recipe, and that is how we feel about this dressing.

The great thing about this cilantro dressing is that you can use it on a raw vegan salad, pasta salad, a bowl of quinoa, a marinade for wild caught fish, or as a dipping sauce for roasted vegetables. In a normal recipe, you’d see Greek yogurt or sour cream on the ingredient list. Because this is a raw vegan recipe, we used avocado to achieve the same creaminess that those ingredients would be used for. Additionally, we added some fresh jalapeño to kick up the spice just a hair. If you are a bit timid around spicy food, you can omit this ingredient. Curious about a little spice? De-seed the jalapeño and then add it to the blender with the rest of the ingredients.

With spring approaching, this is the perfect dressing to have in your pocket of recipes. It goes great with refreshing salads that have sweet, tangy, and slightly bitter ingredients. Because it has avocado, you’ll consume a lot of healthy fats along with your salad, which helps fill you up: a crucial thing to keep in mind if you are cleansing. Finally, make sure that you consume this dressing within three to four days for optimum freshness.

Clean eating is one of the best ways to aid the body’s natural detoxification processes. When you eat unprocessed, plant-based foods, the body has an easier time processing the food, which aids healthy elimination. As the weather starts to cool down, though, you may be a little timid about eating raw, plant-based meals. The mornings are brisk so smoothies may not appeal to you. Nobody wants to think about juicing with winter on the distant horizon. Fortunately, you can enjoy this carrot ginger soup raw and it’ll help warm up your insides.

Naturally, the carrots color this raw soup a beautiful orange, but carrots don’t warm you up. The provide a lovely sweetness that complements the spicy ginger and raw jalapeño. Those are the two ingredients that will keep you warm, alert, and feeling fresh and clean. Eating dinner can help reduce fermentation, constipation, and other causes of intestinal gas and bloating. Whether you consume fresh, ground, or pickled ginger, it has a warming effect on the body. It can brighten dishes and provides lots of antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties that benefit myriad bodily processes.

Similarly, raw jalapeño helps to warm you up from the inside. Unlike ginger, jalapeño tastes spicy. The reason for this is because it contains capsaicin. This plant compound tricks your brain into thinking that you are eating something hot. As you swallow the spicy food, the capsaicin spreads throughout the body, creating a warming effect. That means that every sip of this raw carrot ginger is going to warm you up until you finish the bowl!

Get ready to meet your new favorite condiment! Meet the delightfully spicy and incredibly creamy jalapeño cashew cream sauce. Drizzle it over salads as a dressing or replace it with ranch as a dip for carrot and celery sticks. When you finish cleansing, you can pour it over quinoa bowls, smear it on rice cakes, or serve with tacos and chips. You can even use it as a dairy-free substitute for mayonnaise.

This raw vegan jalapeño cream sauce has five core ingredients that create a luscious condiment that is more decadent than you could ever imagine. Don’t worry about the subtle kick from the jalapeño because it won’t overwhelm your palate. The nuttiness and creaminess of the cashews help mellow the heat, as does the bright lemon juice. If you do not have fresh lemons, you can use limes if you have them in the kitchen. Garlic gives an added boost of flavor, just like the onion powder, sea salt, and black pepper. Season to taste, but try to go easy on the salt. The lemon juice brings a little acidity to the party as well.

If you want to have a little fun with this sauce, feel free to add a few extra ingredients to adapt this sauce for unique flavors. You can omit the jalapeño, or keep it and add any of the following:

  • Parsley
  • Cilantro
  • Curry powder
  • Fresh ginger
  • Turmeric powder (would go great with ginger)
  • Tahini

Sometimes, you need a little spice to wake up those taste buds. There’s nothing quite like Thai spice, but the complex mixture of different ingredients creates layers upon layers of flavor. Even though the dish has a kick, it keeps you coming back for more, bite after bite. With this salad, you get the cool crunch of cucumber, which almost cleanses the palate as you make your way through this salad. The subtle bite of raw onion goes great with the nutty cashews. It’s an all-around great salad for a hot summer day.

Besides the addicting flavors, this salad can help you increase your water intake. Cucumbers are over 90% water, which is great news if you aren’t the best of keeping track of your water intake. Cucumbers are also rich in antioxidants, which work to combat oxidative stress. One study found that consuming cucumbers daily for one month increased antioxidant activity in the body. Cucumbers may also help lower blood sugar levels. A 2016 test-tube study found that cucumbers were effective a preventing diabetes-related complications.

The one thing to remember about this salad is that you wan to allow for 30 minutes of marination time. By allowing the cucumbers and onions to soak in the dressing, they can absorb more flavor. If you cannot handle a lot of spice, reduce the amount of jalapeño you put in the dressing, or consider removing the seeds.

It’s safe to say that almost every single person adores pasta. There are countless pasta recipes in existence, but most people tend to stick to simple marinara or Alfredo sauce recipes. In fact, most people purchase jarred versions of these classic sauces. You are better than jarred sauce, people! We understand the convenience of jarred sauce, but convenience doesn’t equal health. Jarred sauce contains an excessive amount of sodium, processed ingredients, and other things that have no place in your pasta sauce.

This recipe calls for unsalted tomato sauce from a jar, but it is simply pureed tomatoes. There are no added flavorings or anything else! Additionally, this recipe takes your taste buds down to the south to enjoy some classic cajun flavors. Cajun seasoning is yet another ingredient that contains copious amounts of sodium. One serving of cajun seasoning (about 1/4 teaspoon) contains 130 to 170 milligrams of sodium, depending on the variety. Why put your body at risk when you can easily make your own with spices you probably have in your spice rack?

That was a lot of information, and we apologize, but it was necessary. The great thing about this pasta is that you only need one pot. You don’t need a separate pot for cooking the pasta, one for the sauce, and a colander to strain the pasta. Just. One. Pot. That is the beauty of a one pot pasta recipe! You have minimal cleanup and the dried pasta noodles get to cook in the sauce, so they absorb all of the flavors as they cook. We hope you like this vegan cajun pasta!
