This is about to be your go-to immune support tea, which you desperately need if you feel a cough or cold coming on. It’s always possible to get sick, especially if you encounter bacteria or viruses, even during the summer. It is warming and contains immune-boosting ingredients, such as lemon, cinnamon, orange, ginger, and turmeric. Don’t worry, you get to sweeten the tea with raw agave nectar, so it won’t be too intense for your palate. If you want to be successful with this tea, we have a couple suggestions:

If you want to make a larger batch of tea to store for later, make sure to strain the tea before serving. That will ensure that the flavor isn’t too intense. Another option is for you to store it in the fridge and use it as iced tea, if you don’t like drinking warm beverages when the weather is hot.

Always choose fresh ingredients if they are accessible. Ginger and turmeric are great in dried form, but the fresh varieties have stronger flavors and higher nutritional content.

Always listen to your body because everyone reacts differently to various herbs and ingredients. You can customize the ingredients in this tea, so long as they are cleanse-approved. If you change out ingredients and add onion and garlic, for example, keep in mind that the flavor will either intensify or change.

Detox drinks have gained popularity as popular drinks that aid your weight loss efforts. They contain a mix of fruits, vegetables, herbs, or natural ingredients that boost the body’s ability to eliminate toxins. Think of “detox beverages” as an umbrella term for infused waters, juices, smoothies, teas, and other related drinks. Their appeal is simple: they offer a natural way to encourage detoxification in a refreshing, tasty, and easy-to-consume way.

What Are The Benefits And Claims?

There is no denying that people regularly ingest pollutants and artificial chemicals on a daily basis. From environmental pollution to heavily processed foods, harmful chemicals and pathogens are near impossible to avoid. Consuming detox drinks can give the body’s natural detoxification processes a helping hand. In fact, some healthcare experts praise detox drinks because they help relieve bloating, gas, headaches, fatigue, and may even help cleanse the liver and digestive tract.

Because detox drinks contain a diverse mix of natural ingredients, they work to enhance weight loss efforts and reduce inflammation. You may find that you experience a renewed sense of energy after consuming one or more of the drinks in this article. By promoting detoxification, you may experience reduced acne, hydrated skin, better digestion, fewer aches and pains, weight loss, and healthier hair. As always, though, maintaining a healthy diet, optimal sleep, and regular exercise is necessary for optimal health. The following beverages can aid your detox efforts, but they won’t counteract unhealthy diet and poor lifestyle habits.

Cucumber Mint Detox

Mint can help improve the flow of bile in the stomach and cucumbers help protect the body from oxidative stress. The combination of cucumber, mint, and lemon works well for maintaining the body’s fluid and mineral balance as well. All three ingredients contain beneficial antioxidants that may help improve digestion and neutralize free radicals. Prepare this drink by washing, peeling, and slicing two cucumbers. Add the sliced cucumbers, a handful of fresh mint leaves, and a sliced lemon to a large pitcher. Fill with water, stir, and refrigerate for about an hour so the flavors can infuse into the water. Sip and enjoy.

Orange Carrot Ginger Detox

Get ready for a major dose of beta-carotene and vitamin C, two antioxidant compounds that contribute to optimal digestion and immune function. According to health studies, beta-carotene may aid your weight loss efforts by improving digestion, just like ginger. Praised for its anti-inflammatory properties, ginger may reduce bloating, improve digestion, and reduce stomach cramps. In order to make this drink, juice one large carrot and two oranges separately. Pour both the orange and carrot juices into a blender and add one tablespoon each of freshly grated turmeric and ginger root. Blend for 30 seconds, strain the mixture, and then serve.

Pomegranate Aloe Vera Detox

Not only is this a visually stunning beverage, but it also does wonders for your digestive and immune systems. The important instruction here is to use fresh aloe vera, not store bought aloe juice. You want that gel straight from the source! Aloe vera has been known to reduce bloating, regulate bowel movements, relieve constipation, and improve digestive discomfort. Beet juice works to cleanse the liver, improve circulation, and cleanse the blood. Pomegranates happen to be one of the richest sources of antioxidants, which fight free radicals and boost immune function. To make this juice, peel the rind from an aloe vera plant leaf. Discard the rind and reserve about two tablespoons of aloe vera gel. Add that to a blender with two cups of unsweetened pomegranate juice and 1/2 cup of diced beet. Blend until smooth and mix in a dash of black pepper prior to serving.

Simple Lemon Detox

Drinking water is obviously beneficial for your health, promoting optimal circulation and waste elimination. Infusing your water with lemon can help enhance those efforts. Lemons are naturally rich in vitamin C, which benefits your bones, gums, skin, and immune system. It’s very easy to create this detox drink because all you have to do is squeeze two to three lemons in one liter of water. Add a pinch of sea salt, mix, and enjoy over ice.

Ginger Lychee Lemon Detox

As stated earlier, ginger is rich in anti-inflammatory properties that may ward off inflammation. Some research indicates that ginger may help the body cleanse certain organs. Additionally, lychee fruit contains epicatechin and rutin, two antioxidant compounds that help protect against chronic diseases, cataracts, oxidative stress, and more. Find a large mason jar and place a half-cup of minced ginger, half-cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice, and one cup of fresh lychee juice. Add ice to your desired temperature and a pinch of sea salt, mix, and then enjoy. You have the option to add some sliced grapes and a couple tablespoons of chia seeds for added nutritional benefits.

A face serum can add moisture and high concentrations of beneficial nutrients to your skin. The ingredients in the serum will determine the benefits for your skin. For example, some serums, like the one in this article, help with early signs of aging, while others are better for hydrating or repairing texture. If you’re looking to enhance your skin care routine with a single product, though, a serum is the ticket.

What Is A Serum?

A serum is essentially a topical skin care product that contains concentrated amounts of active ingredients. With larger amounts of active molecules, a serum can potentially penetrate the skin’s surface with more efficacy that a moisturizer, for example. Due to its high concentration, a serum takes a shorter amount of time to see results. You can think of a serum like a secret weapon designed to treat skin issues such as dullness, discoloration, fine lines, and acne.

Because a serum is light in nature and delivers active ingredients efficiently and quickly, you apply it first once you cleanse your face. In order to maximize the serum’s benefits, you have to seal it in with a moisturizer or cream. If you use a serum that is suited to the issue you want to address, it can have many benefits. We’ll explain the benefits of this serum below.

Vitamin E Oil

It’s common to see vitamin E oil in many different moisturizers because it works to prevent dry, flaking skin. As a result of moisturizing the skin, vitamin E oil may also reduce skin itching. Keeping the skin properly moisturized is the best way to prevent dry skin, which in turn prevents itchiness. The American Academy of Dermatology Association looked at the benefits of vitamin E oil for people with eczema. Researchers found that vitamin E had a positive effect on eczema. That said, they did not specify whether the focus was on topical or oral vitamin E. More research is necessary on this matter.

Carrier Oil

Because the serum contains vitamin E oil, you want to choose a carrier oil that is rich in that particular vitamin. Not all skin types can use the same carrier oils, though, so keep that in mind. Additionally, climate and season play a role in your carrier oil choice. As for which carrier oil to choose, well, that depends on your preference and skin type. Some oils that are great sources of vitamin E include sweet almond oil, wheat germ oil, grapeseed oil, and apricot kernel oil. If you have acne-prone skin, you may want to try jojoba oil, rosehip oil, hemp oil.

Essential Oils

The use of essential oils is entirely optional in this face serum recipe. Most people do not react to essential oils if they are properly diluted with carrier oils. You can always use less and increase to a stronger dilution if you desire. A 0.5% dilution is generally what dermatologists recommend for facial skin, though. As far as which essential oils to choose, consider the following:

 • Anti-aging: frankincense, helichrysum, carrot seed, geranium, and chamomile essential oils
 • Glowing skin: lavender, sandalwood, jasmine, and helichrysum essential oils
 • Fighting acne: lemongrass, tea tree, bergamot, grapefruit, eucalyptus, cedarwood, juniper berry, and cypress essential oils

DIY Face Serum

Ingredients:

 • 1 tsp pure vitamin E oil
 • 2 ounces carrier oil of choice
 • 10-20 drops essential oils (optional)

Instructions:

 • Add all of the ingredients to a small dropper bottle, screw on the top, and shake well to combine.
 • Store the serum in a cool, dark place to preserve the healing properties.
 • To use, apply a few drops of the serum to your face and massage into the skin for about one minute. It’s a great serum to use for overnight treatment!

We wish that we could create a delicious donut for all of our raw vegan cleansers to enjoy, but we don’t possess the talent, unfortunately. Instead, we created these cinnamon bliss balls, which help satisfy your sweet tooth while providing you with with healthy fats, fiber, protein, and more. They are not fried like donuts, nor are they baked. All you need is a food processor and the ingredients, plus a little freezer time to allow the balls to solidify.

We are not here to give you a lecture about these bliss balls; rather, we are here to tell you that YOU NEED TO MAKE THEM. Why is that the case? Well, they are just too delicious not to enjoy, especially during your cleanse. When you are cleansing, it is vital to have snacks that fill you up, as you do not want to constantly eat between your major meals. The fiber and healthy fats help you feel full for longer, but be careful to not eat too many of them at once. Due to the almonds, desiccated coconut, and dates, they are calorically dense. If you eat five of them, you’ll be consuming just over 600 calories!

To make these bliss balls, you will need a food processor, not a blender. There is no liquid in this recipe, except the maple syrup, so a blender would not be able to sufficiently blend the ingredients together. A food processor can handle the job! Once the ingredients form a dough-like consistency, you can stop processing and get ready to roll the bliss balls. Make sure to wet your hands with water to prevent the blended mixture from sticking to your hands. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, freeze until solid, and then enjoy.

There is nothing quite like the feeling of a clean face. You scrub away all the grime of the day and feel renewed, or you wash away the sleepies and prepare for the day ahead. If you are like most people, you probably use a cleanser, potentially a toner, moisturizer, and an under-eye cream. Now, that is a perfectly fine skin care routine, but sometimes you need to clean out your pores and moisturize simultaneously. That’s why we love the brown sugar oatmeal face scrub in this article.

Although brown sugar face scrubs are generally safe, you should always do a small patch test before using it all over your face. Use a small amount on your inner forearm. Wait 24 hours to see if you experience any itchiness, redness, or swelling. If you experience any of those symptoms, you have an allergy to one or more ingredients in the product. If that is the case, do not use it. Should you not experience any of those symptoms, feel free to use the product.

Here’s Why You’ll Love This Scrub

First of all, you don’t have to worry about the addition of unnecessary chemicals that could potentially harm your skin. Natural ingredients help clear up your skin and contribute to a natural glow. In case you didn’t know, this is not a scrub that you use daily. Using this face scrub daily may irritate the skin, due to the mildly abrasive nature of brown sugar. Ideally, you use this scrub once a week and follow it up with a moisturizer once you finish. You’ll love it because it:

 • Is very easy to make
 • Hydrates the skin
 • Removes grease, dirt, and makeup
 • Helps unclog pores
 • Removes dead skin cells
 • Only requires four ingredients
 • Helps improve skin tone
 • Improves circulation to the skin

Benefits Of This DIY Face Scrub

This face scrub consists of four ingredients, all of which benefit the skin in different ways. We’ve detailed a few benefits of the four ingredients below:

 • Brown sugar: This is the exfoliator of the scrub! Brown sugar works to remove dead skin cells, which helps improve the complexion. Due to the glycolic acid, brown sugar also helps to lock in moisture, stimulate collagen production, and cleanse your pores.
 • Oats: Working to reduce oil production and free radicals on the skin, oats help exfoliate the skin and unclog pores. If you have dry or irritated skin, use face scrubs that contain oats to help enhance the health of facial skin.
 • Honey: Believe it or not, honey has mild exfoliation properties as well, but we love it because it acts as a natural humectant. That means that it helps to draw moisture into the skin, contributing to a higher moisture content.
 • Olive oil: Similar to coconut oil, olive oil exhibits anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-aging, and anti-fungal properties, all of which are beneficial to the skin. Using olive oil on the skin can help improve skin elasticity, reduce infections, and make the skin appear smoother.

DIY Brown Sugar Oatmeal Face Scrub

Ingredients:

 • 1/2 cup brown sugar
 • 1/4 cup oats, finely ground
 • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
 • 1 tablespoon raw honey

Instructions:

 • Add the sugar, oats, olive oil, and honey to a clean bowl and mix well to combine. That’s it!
 • When ready to use, apply a small amount of the scrub on your fingertips and massage it into your face in circular motions for one to two minutes. Leave the scrub on for a couple minutes so that the nutrients can penetrate your skin.
 • Rinse your face with warm water and pat dry with a clean towel. Use this scrub once per week.

Oh, this salad is oh, so flavorful. It’s got everything you want from a recipe: spice, zest, acid, sweet, tang, and more in every bite. Besides the impressive and refreshing flavors, this salad offers a variety of colors and textures. That makes for a more enjoyable eating experience with the added benefit of getting the various antioxidant compounds from the different-colored ingredients. Don’t let the recipe make you think that this is difficult to make, either. It comes together in a matter of 10-15 minutes and truly showcases the flavor of mango.

Traditionally, Thai mango salad is made with green mango, which is shredded or thinly sliced and mixed with red onion, cilantro, peanuts, fish sauce, and lime juice. The green mango, which is unripe, takes a similar role to green papaya, which is also unripe. Green mangos have a firm, crunchy texture and are quite tart. That’s why they are common in chutneys or pickles. Because green mangos are not as readily available in your average grocery store, we elected to use ripe mangos, which offer a juicy sweetness that complements the kick and punch of the other ingredients. Additionally, we replace the peanuts with raw cashews and, for obvious reasons, we omitted the fish sauce.

We always support culinary creativity at all times. If you feel that you have a cleanse-approved ingredient that would work well with the ones in this salad, feel free to add it in. What we do encourage is that you maintain somewhat uniform cuts for the ingredients. Slice the cucumbers and mangos thinly and on a diagonal so that they can be similar to the thinly sliced onions. Lastly, we only included red pepper flakes, not Thai chilies, because we care about not burning your taste buds off!

Popsicles may be the most enjoyable frozen treats for kids, but you can refresh your palate as an adult with these desserts as well. Nothing cools you off like a frozen treat from the freezer on a warmer spring day. Now, the weather isn’t just instantaneously hot just because spring has sprung. That said, it is warming up and there is nothing quite like the newest crave-able popsicle straight out of your kitchen.

Allow us to introduce you to our raw vegan cantaloupe popsicles! Perfectly cleanse-approved and undeniably delicious, these popsicles are based on creamy melon bars, which are commonly made with honeydew. Cantaloupe, however, is a little creamier, and the texture of these pops is more akin to a creamsicle. The only difference is that these popsicles contain three ingredients, not 45 mysterious ingredients, many of which you cannot even pronounce. You can truly taste the difference, and you’ll feel the difference, too!

When it comes to making your own popsicles, we recommend that you use silicone molds. The classic plastic popsicle molds make it difficult to get the popsicles out. Silicone molds make this process so much easier, especially if you run the molds under a little warm water to aid the removal process. Just make sure that the popsicles are completely frozen before you try to remove them. This typically takes about four to six hours, but may require more time. Once you finish your cleanse, you can use coconut milk in place of homemade almond milk. The coconut milk yields a creamier consistency.

How Do You Know If You Are Low In Omega-3 Fats? https://www.dherbs.com/articles/how-do-you-know-if-you-are-low-in-omega-3-fats/ Sat, 15 Mar 2025 09:20:00 +0000 https://www.dherbs.com/?p=175398

The post How Do You Know If You Are Low In Omega-3 Fats? appeared first on Dherbs - The Best All Natural Herbal Remedies & Products.

]]>

Omega-3 fatty acids, commonly referred to as omega-3s, are healthy fats that have powerful antioxidant effects in the body. According to research studies, omega-3s work to benefit everything from brain health and immunity to heart function. Even though these foods are essential for overall health, close to 90% of Americans do not meet the recommended daily intake of omega-3s. That is even true for people who eat fish on a weekly basis!

What Are Omega-3s?

First off, there are two main types of fatty acids: saturated and unsaturated. Unsaturated fat breaks down into polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats, which are terms you commonly see on nutrition facts labels. These chain-like molecules are made up of carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen atoms. Carbon atoms form the foundation of the chain and oxygen and hydrogen atoms latch onto available slots.

A monounsaturated fat has one open slot, while a polyunsaturated fat has more than one open slot. Contrarily, saturated fat has no open slots and is typically referred to as “bad” or “unhealthy.” The reason saturated fats are labeled as such is because they increase the risk of heart disease and stroke. Unsaturated fats, such as omega-3s, are healthy because they support the heart and brain and may reduce inflammation within the body.

Because the body cannot produce a sufficient amount of omega-3s necessary for its own survival, you have to obtain them from the foods you eat. The specific types of omega-3s include DHA and EPA, which you can find in seafood, and ALA, which exists in plants. Great foods to increase your omega-3 consumption include mackerel, salmon, and other fatty fish, or flaxseed, chia seeds, avocados, walnuts, and other plant-based foods. Failure to eat these foods may yield a few signs that indicate low omega-3 levels. Continue reading to learn more.

Low Mood

Your mood is closely tied to the health of your brain, which oversees serotonin and dopamine, two feel-good hormones. Researchers are not exactly clear how omega-3s like EPA and DHA influence how the body uses and responds to those hormones. What the research does say, however, is that low levels of omega-3s can compromise a person’s mental health. Taking an omega-3 supplement, such as the Dherbs Omega 3 Formula, may assist in elevating your mood and outlook.

Dry And Tired Eyes

Staring at screens all day is a great way to fatigue your eyes. If your eyes are particularly parched, though, you may be low in omega-3s. Both EPA and DHA help ensure that the cells in the retina function optimally. According to research, omega-3s help the eyes combat oxidative stress, so don’t believe that carrots are the only vegetable beneficial for eye health.

Dry Or Irritated Skin

There are numerous causes for dry, scaly, red, or irritated skin. If you use cleansers, lotions, serums, and body butters to improve the skin quality and nothing calms irritated skin, you may need to increase your omega-3 intake. According to researchers, omega-3s support the skin barrier, helping to seal in moisture and keep environmental pollutants out. Additional research shows that increasing your intake of omega-3s, especially through supplements, can help improve the texture, tone, and overall appearance of skin.

Brain Fog

Both EPA and DHA contribute to the structure of cell membranes in the brain, in addition to aiding the communication between cells. One study involving 176 adults with low omega-3 intake found that supplementing with 1.16 grams of DHA daily for six months was able to improve episodic and working memory when compared to the placebo group. Feeling a little sluggish and unclear mentally? Improve concentration and find a clearing in the fog by increasing your omega-3 intake.

‘Tis the season for holiday treats and countless sweets. Unfortunately, that mentality is why people tend to gain weight this time of year. The sweets and treats have a little something to do with that weight gain as well. They are not nutritious and tend to contain a lot of empty calories, so you keep coming back for more because they are usually made of refined sugars and carbs. We still want you (and our cleansers!) to enjoy some holiday goodies, which is why we are giving you this recipe for chocolate gingerbread energy bites. Think of them like healthier cookies!

If you were looking for a cookie swap, these gingerbread energy bites are your bet bet. They contain raw almonds, Medjool dates, raw cacao, and a handful of spices that make them taste like holiday cookies. If the mixture gets a little dry, you can add a tablespoon of raw almond butter or water to. help it along. Additionally, you can soak the almonds and dates in water a little while before you blend the ingredients together in the food processor. Soaking will soften the nuts and dates, which eases the blending process.

Now, some people prefer chunky cookies, while others enjoy soft cookies that are easy to eat. The same applies to nut butters. Do you prefer chunky or smooth? Whichever you version you enjoy is the right one! You can blend the ingredients until you achieve a texture that you are happy with. Once you achieve your desired texture, wet your hands and roll the mixture into bite-size balls. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and then place them in the freezer to harden. We hope you love them! Let us know in the comments below!
