How can you make fresh fruit more delicious? Put some chili powder on it and experience flavor like never before. Trust us when we tell you that the spice complements the sweetness of each fruit in this fruit salad. If you live in a place where fruit carts are on various streets and street corners, you know how special the spicy sweet fruit assembly is. If you don’t have access to such a fruit cart, get ready for this fruit salad to blow your taste buds away.

The beautiful thing about this spicy fruit salad is that it requires less than 10 ingredients and just 15 minutes of your time. Once you cut up the fruit, which can take a while or no time at all (depending on your knife skills), you combine them with the other ingredients. The chili powder gives just a subtle kick, so as not to overpower the natural fruit flavor. Plus, you get a little extra sweetness from the raw agave nectar. The fresh lime juice helps to wake up the natural sugars in the fruit, giving you a great balance of tart, spicy, and sweet.

This fruit salad is meant for warmer days, making the spring and summer months the best times to enjoy this recipe. Additionally, you can customize the ingredients and use what is available based on the season. For example, you can use melons or stone fruit in the summer when they are in season. Whenever possible, shop seasonally for optimum flavor and freshness. We hope you enjoy the recipe!

Strawbery mango salsa is the dip you've been craving for the warmer spring months. It's spicy, sweet, zesty, and goes great with chips.

When the chips and salsas are out, it’s hard to leave them alone. You can call this intuition or an immense desire to enjoy a salty snack. Salsa tends to reign supreme in the dip category, but only if it tastes great. Terrible salsa is not only an insult to your palate, but also your overall health. A jar of salsa doesn’t offer any nutritional value and can be overly sweet or salty, depending on the variety. That’s why it is always better to make your own, especially since it is very easy.

Some people do not label a dip as a salsa unless it is blended or smooth. For example, a salsa verde or roja is a true salsa, whereas pico de gallo may not be viewed that way to some salsa purists. We are not here to judge or change your opinion on what a salsa is, but this recipe, be it a salsa or not, is an insanely tasty dip. It is sweet, spicy, zesty, refreshing, and highly addictive. Additionally, the salsa offers a wide range of nutrients, given that it contains a mix of colorful fruits and vegetables. If you need antioxidants and vitamin C, this is the salsa for you!

This salsa offers two sweet components: strawberries and mangos. Don’t think that this is just an overwhelming bowl of sweetness, though. The red onion, jalapeño, cilantro, and lime juice create a balanced flavor profile that makes each bite more enjoyable than the last. As a final note, don’t worry if the mango isn’t the sweetest, most tropical mango you’ve ever tasted. It is perfectly fine if the mangos are slightly underripe.

If you are new to jicama, this recipe is the perfect way to enjoy this root vegetable, which is commonly treated like a fruit. Peel and cut the jicama into sticks and drizzle the sweet and spicy concoction over them. Allow the sticks to marinate for 10 minutes before serving. This recipe will surely become a family favorite, especially if you are looking to enjoy healthier snacks. No preservatives, no dyes, no artificial sweeteners, and no refined grains, just sweet and spicy deliciousness.

The jicama is a root vegetable that has thick, brown skin and crispy white flesh. It has a similar texture to an Asian pear or apple, but the flavor is quite mild. That’s why a lot of people jazz it up with with a sweet and spicy sauce known as Chamoy. You’ll commonly see this vibrantly red sauce at fruit carts, but it is very unhealthy for you, exhibiting nearly 850 milligrams of sodium per serving. Not to mention, seasoning the jicama with tajin only adds to the sodium content.

Fortunately for you, these jicama sticks are not coated in sodium-rich, nearly-fluorescent ingredients. Whisk together some raw agave nectar, freshly squeezed lime juice, chili powder, and sea salt before drizzling the mixture over the jicama. This recipe lasts for about three days, provided you store the jicama in an airtight container in the fridge. If you want to prep it for an entire week, keep the dressing and jicama sticks separate, only tossing the sticks in sauce when you want to enjoy them.

Is it possible to live off dips? Well, that all depends on the dips you choose and the vessels you choose to dunk in your dips. Although it works as a sustainable diet for Martin Short’s character in Only Murders In The Building, solely eating dips is not a healthy way to live. Eating a nutritious, homemade dip, is much healthier than eating a store bought dip, as most jarred salsas and such are replete with preservatives, excess sodium, dyes, and artificial flavors.

We feel lucky to have stumbled on this spicy green cashew dip, which we created via trial and error to get it just right. It is luxuriously creamy, almost like an avocado puree, and bursting with flavor in every bite. It’s almost as if the cashew dip of our dreams was born out of a handful of ingredients! This incredible dip comes together with a mere five ingredients, plus water and a little sea salt and pepper for extra flavor. Raw cashews give this sauce that silky smooth consistency you want from a dip. Just make sure that you soak them for about 40 minutes in warm water for optimum creaminess.

If you shy away from spice, you can omit the jalapeño, or simply add less half of a pepper instead of a full one. Like things extra spicy? Include the seeds from the pepper! You can still taste the spice if you leave the seeds out. The fresh lime juice will help cut the spice just a little and brings out the freshness of the cilantro. Finally, you will most likely need to scrape down the sides of your blender or food processor once or twice to ensure you get an even, smooth dip.

For many Americans, the predominant feasting days are Thanksgiving, Christmas, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Super Bowl Sunday. The Super Bowl, also known as the big game, is not just an ordinary watch party to cheer on football teams. It is a day to enjoy everyone’s favorite snacks, comfort foods, and drinks. The spread is almost more important than the game, commercials, and halftime show.

Super Bowl Statistics

During Super Bowl Sunday, an estimated 48 million Americans order take out. 60% of those take out orders are pizza, which is partially attributed to all the advertisements. Plus, pizza is an easy entree that can feed a lot of people. In addition to pizza, chicken wings and chips and dips are the most popularly ordered foods. Did you know that an estimated 1.25 billion chicken wings are eaten during Super Bowl Weekend? That equates to nearly 162.5 million pounds of chicken, proving that this weekend is responsible for 7% of chicken sales for the year.

Food and beverages account for the majority of spending on the game. Total spending on food, drinks, apparel, and decorations for the 2024 game is expected to reach $17.3 billion, which equates to $86.04 per person. An analytics survey found that a record 200.5 million U.S. adults plan to watch the big game. The game is important to 44% of viewers, with the halftime show being most important to 19% of viewers. Commercials interest 18% of viewers, and some people bet more on commercials than the actual game!

If you want to take a different approach to your game day spread, we’ve got some great recipes for you. The following appetizers and dips may not even make it past the first half! That’s how good they are! Let us know which ones you end up making on game day in the comments.

One of the most common things that people crave during the raw vegan diet, besides hot food, is the ability to use condiments freely. Because you cannot reach into the pantry or fridge to pull out your favorite hot sauce, ketchup, or other condiment, you have to make your own. If you make your own condiments, not only are they much healthier, but they also taste better.

That’s how we feel about this spicy tahini sauce, which exhibits bold and spicy flavors. It works great as a dip for raw vegetables, salad dressing (if you can handle the heat), and even a sauce for raw vegan tacos. Plus, this sauce is gluten-free, dairy-free, and 100% raw vegan, making it a great option for people with dietary restrictions. This tahini sauce only contains six ingredients, and none of them are processed. Unlike a bottled hot sauce, this sauce does not contain unhealthy fats, artificial flavors, or dyes.

Because this sauce is so versatile, you can use it several different ways, which is critical on a raw vegan diet. For example, drizzle it over zucchini noodles to make a spicy zoodle pasta. Add a little more water if you want to use it as an oil-free salad dressing. If you want to alter the spices, it can transform into a raw tahini Caesar dressing. There is truly no limit to what you can do with this condiment!

You’ve heard about hot honey, but are you familiar with spicy maple syrup? Infusing the rich, comforting flavor of maple syrup with the spiciness of red pepper flakes and chili powder is truly a creation to appreciate. When you start experimenting with food, you can unlock a world of gastronomic possibilities. Some creations may not be as great as others, but you stumble on a gem like this spicy maple syrup every now and again.

The best thing about this condiment, besides how easy it is to make, is that you can use it on so many foods. Turn up the heat on your pancakes or appreciate the harmonious interplay of spicy and sweet on a sandwich. You can truly elevate your dishes to new heights, all the while establishing a balance of sweet and savory.

To make this condiment, combine all of the ingredients in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. This isn’t like those long oil-infusions that require you to double boil a jar of oil and herbs in a saucepan for over two hours. Simmer the ingredients in this recipe for about two to five minutes, or until it begins to thicken. Taste the syrup and adjust the spice level to your tolerance. Ideally, this shouldn’t burn your taste buds off and cause you to gasp for air. This is a balanced condiment that you can enjoy on myriad dishes.

Forget taco Tuesday, because (and let’s be honest) you can enjoy tacos every night of the week. There are so many taco filling options, including cauliflower, potatoes, beans, chickpeas, fish, and more. Tacos come together easily and make for a great family style meal. Although the filling ingredients tend to take center stage, the toppings or condiments are of equal important. You need to have the right salsa, cilantro and onions, and, if you are really a taco connoisseur, pickled radishes or onions.

On their own, radishes exhibit a peppery flavor and crispy crunch. Some people love them and others hate them. If you fall into the hatred column, have you tried pickled radishes? They differ from classic pink pickled turnips that accompany Mediterranean dishes. These pickled radishes offer a sweet, spicy, and briny flavor. Enjoy them straight out of the jar, on tacos, burgers, sandwiches, and more. They have a subtle kick from the jalapeño, and you can always add more if you enjoy more spice in your life. Stuff cilantro into the pickling jar as well and let the pickling commence!

Once all of your ingredients are in the jar, pour in the pickling solution and some pepper flakes and mustard seeds. Allow at least 24 hours for the flavors to do their thing at room temperature. After the first day, you can store the pickled radishes in the fridge. The flavor only gets better as the days go by!

Sometimes, you come across a salad recipe that is both incredibly flavorful and simple to make. Such is the case for this curried carrot salad, which features shredded crunchy carrots and a slightly bitter tahini curry dressing. To balance out the spice and bitterness, we added nutty raw pumpkin seeds and sweet raisins. Should you be a true raisin hater, you can omit the raisins and consider adding sliced grapes. Forego the grapes and raisins altogether if you enjoy a pronounced curry flavor!

The great thing about this salad is that it is a true salad for one. This salad will yield enough for you, and you alone. Make it as a filling lunch or as a side dish for your main course. Even if you dress the entire salad and don’t finish it, carrots are sturdy enough that the salad will still be good to enjoy the following day. It is crunchy, cool, creamy, a little spicy, and incredibly fragrant. The curry brings a unique element to the dressing that you don’t typically find in most dressings or sauces. There’s a warmth to the spice mixture, and yet it is also zesty.

Just so that we’re clear, there is a possibility that you might hate it or love it. The main takeaway is that you were brave enough to try it! Don’t ever stop trying new and exciting or exotic foods because you never know what your palate will enjoy. There are many familiar ingredients in this salad, so you get to mix the old with the new, especially if you aren’t familiar with curry spice. The ginger and lemon juice bring a slightly spice flare as well, but that sweet maple syrup balances everything out. We hope you love experimenting with these new flavors!

Finally, a sauce that doesn’t require a blender! Sometimes, it’s nice to simply pour ingredients into a bowl, whisk them together, and then enjoy immediately. This chili lime tahini sauce is creamy and has a nutty, slightly spicy flavor with a zesty citrus flair. It serves as a perfect dip for your vegetable tray, but it also makes for a great salad dressing or drizzle for tacos, bowls, and so much more. It’s the condiment that you never knew you needed!

Tahini is a great ingredient, nay, a must-have ingredient in your kitchen. It adds a rich, nutty flavor and creamy texture to sauces, dressings, dips, and more. Besides the fact that it adds great flavor to recipes, tahini also exhibits some surprising health benefits. Tahini is naturally rich in healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals, with just one tablespoon providing more than 10% of the recommended daily intake for some nutrients. Tahini is especially high in lignan sesamin, a compound that exhibits promising antioxidant potential in animal and test-tube studies. More research is needed to fully understand the effects in humans, though.

This sauce is truly addictive, but we understand that you may not be able to finish it the same day you make it. If you have leftover tahini sauce, store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days. If it thickens up in the fridge, shake it up with a splash of water to help thin it out. Ideally, it should be pourable and smooth!
