Do you remember your first bite of a silky smooth sorbet? Was it a zesty lemon sorbet or a tropical mango sorbet? Whatever it was, it most likely had a lot of sugar. Although sorbet seems like a healthier version of ice cream, this is not typically the case. A sorbet has the potential to be a healthier, non-dairy dessert, but most places go heavy on the sugar. That isn’t true for this recipe, which uses grade A maple syrup as a sweetener, in addition to the natural sugars in strawberries.

The simplicity of this sorbet is what makes it so amazing delicious. The tartness of the freshly squeezed lemon juice is exactly what you want when the summer sun is beaming down on you. Freshly squeezed lemon juice is a great source of vitamin C and it actually promotes alkalinity upon ingestion. Citrus fruits, although they contain citric acid, have an alkalizing effect on the body when you consume them. And you don’t need a ton of granulated sugar because the natural sweetness of the strawberries and maple syrup provide that.

Ideally, you should purchase fresh strawberries, remove the tops, and then freeze them overnight before you make this recipe. If that process is too lengthy, frozen strawberries are acceptable to use, even if you are cleansing. Just make sure that “strawberries” are the only ingredient. Avoid any frozen fruit with added sugars or preservatives. Blend the ingredients in the food processor until nice and thick. Spoon the mixture into a freezer-safe container and enjoy once it is a scoop-able consistency. Enjoy!

The combination of basil and strawberries sounds strange, but it is a match made in flavor heaven. This isn’t a savory dessert, but it does have an aromatic, herbaceous note from the basil. We recommend getting Thai basil if you can get your hands on it.

One important thing to note is that you need to remove the leaves from the stems. Do not blend the stems into the sorbet because they are very bitter and will create an unpleasant flavor. We hope you like this unique dessert!

Frozen bananas are your friend while you are on a raw vegan diet. They are great in smoothies, but they make a luscious, creamy base for raw vegan ice cream recipes. We recommend using the food processor for this recipe because the blender can liquify the sorbet too much. We hope you like it.

You know how they say to use very ripe, brown bananas for banana bread and other sweet recipes? Yeah, that’s not happening for this recipe. When making a sorbet or ice cream, it is best to use yellow bananas without brown spots. The reason for this is because you don’t want the sweet flavor of brown bananas to overpower the other ingredients.

Are you late to the sorbet party? It’s perfectly fine if you are because latecomers are always welcome, especially when it comes to making healthy desserts that you can enjoy guilt-free. Since people cannot have processed candies and chocolate bars while they are cleansing, we like to provide raw vegan dessert options. People often think that there is no such thing as a raw vegan dessert, but they’ve obviously never browsed our recipe section (click here to check it out).

This post maybe a little late, but it is still summer and we want to enjoy refreshing, light desserts. We’ve made a lot of cleanse-approved desserts over the years, but there’s a specific happiness that comes from a spoonful of a fruity sorbet. Not only are sorbets much healthier options than sugary, dairy ice creams, they are, dare we claim, much better and tastier. Before you take offense to that statement, hear us out.

You can turn almost every single fruit into a sorbet. Do you enjoy watermelons? How about snacking on peaches? Well, you can turn both of those fruits into sorbets! Not only are sorbets great ways to treat yourself to guilt-free desserts, but they also deliver the same nutrients that you would get if you were to eat the fruit fresh. The great thing about summer is that so many sorbet-worthy fruits are in season. Mangos, kiwis, pineapples, peaches, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, papayas, passionfruit, and melons are freshest during summer, so start making those sorbets as soon as you can.

When you make sorbets yourself, there is no need for added syrups or flavorings because the fruits are so fresh and so sweet. To show you how easy it is to make sorbets, we are presenting you with three sorbet recipes that only require three ingredients.

All You Need For A Healthy Fruit Sorbet

  • A great blender or small food processor
  • Raw agave syrup or grade A pure maple syrup
  • Your favorite fruits, diced or cubed to aid the blending process
