Keep your boots, purses, wallets, and car seats looking sharp and more water resistant with this all natural leather conditioner and boot wax. Not only is this two-ingredient wax affordable, but it is also free of chemicals and works on most types of leather. It’s great to conditioner your boots in late summer/early fall before the crisp, cold weather arrives. That helps preserve them during cold winter weather. We understand that it isn’t winter yet, but you can never prepare too early!

If you care for your leather boots, they’ll last you a long time. All-weather leather boots are great for walking around town or attending community events. Obviously, the higher quality the boot is, the better it will fare in the long run. Investing in quality boots, especially if you live in a place that endures harsh winter climate, will serve your feet better than cheap boots will. Real leather boots with quality lining and sturdy laces will transform your boot game for the better. And they’ll last longer if you regularly condition them.

Why Condition Your Boots?

Beyond the scuffs, scrapes, or general wear and tear, leather boots are susceptible to drying out and cracking. In order to help your boots last longer and perform their best, you need to clean them and condition them regularly. You slap your shoes into water, dirt, grease, thousands of times as you wear them. The leather will remain water resistant if you keep it supple. If you spend the time to condition your boots a couple times a year, they will look as good in 15 years as they do now.

What Does A Leather Conditioner Do?

Think of leather like your skin, in that it is fragile compared to tougher and rougher surfaces. That means that it requires protection and care. Unlike your skin, which receives nourishment from the body, leather on shoes does not receive nourishment, unless you provide it. A great leather conditioner is designed to be easily absorbed and helps to restore the flexibility of leather fibers. Leather is both flexible and durable, so long as you continue to condition it. Once leather loses the natural oils and moisture, the fibrous interweave starts to break down and crack. Once that happens, you will most likely have to replace your boots.

DIY Boot Wax And Leather Conditioner

The two ingredients in the following recipe are coconut oil and beeswax. You don’t need anything else because leather can readily absorb these ingredients. Remember that you want to treat your boots with respect, especially if the leather is high quality. That means that you want to purchase organic coconut oil and organic beeswax pellets. With such clean ingredients, you can feel great about conditioning your leather boots.

Ingredients:

 • 4 ounces organic coconut oil
 • 4 ounces organic beeswax pellets
 • Silicone mold or metal tin
 • Horsehair brush

Instructions:

 • Add the coconut oil and beeswax to an Instant Pot and melt them using the “keep warm” feature. If you don’t want to use that method, you can add those two ingredients to a heat-safe glass bowl on top of a saucepan with an inch or two of simmering water.
 • Once the ingredients are melted, pour the mixture into silicone molds or a metal tin. Let the mixture harden, which you can accelerate by placing in the freezer or fridge.
 • To use the wax, warm a wax disc or a little bit in your hands and spread generously over the boots. Use a horsehair brush to scrub and work the wax into the leather. Continue brushing the boots until the wax is worked into the leather.
 • There’s no need to wait! Wear them right away!

The days are getting longer and warmer, which means summer is approaching. That means days spent by the lake, beach days with friends, picnics in the park, and hiking trails. Sounds like fun, right? Yes, but these activities expose your skin to the sun, which means that you need to protect it at all costs. What better way to do that than by applying an all natural, skin-safe sunscreen!

Most commercial sunscreens contain ingredients that are both harmful to your skin and ocean reefs. That is why certain places, such as Hawaii, passed laws to ban the sale of sunscreens that are not considered reef-safe. Sunscreens typically contain chemical SPF ingredients, in addition to other potentially harmful chemicals. You want to protect your skin, not harm it!

That’s why we are bringing you an easy, safe DIY sunscreen that offers protection even if you get your skin wet. That makes it an excellent option if you plan on going in the lake, pool, or ocean, or even if you work up a sweat. Because it is made with natural ingredients, you may need to reapply this sunscreen more often than the sunscreens you’re used to buying. Read on to learn what makes this sunscreen great for your skin.

Non-Nano Zinc Oxide

Non-nano zinc oxide means that the zinc oxide particles are larger than 100 nanometers. A nanoparticle is smaller than 100 nanometers, which is one billionth of a meter. NonZinc oxide is the only UV filter for sunscreen that has been approved by the FDA as a single ingredient that protects against both UVA and UVB rays. Unlike oxybenzone, the skin does not absorb zinc oxide; rather, it sits on top of the skin and reflects the sun’s rays. Because this is an active ingredient in the sunscreen recipe in this article, you want to make sure that it remains on top of the skin for optimal sun protection.

Beeswax

In regards to making your own sunscreen, beeswax is a highly useful ingredient. While it may not offer protection from UVA or UVB rays, beeswax helps the sunscreen be more waterproof. When you consider the fact that the sunscreen in this article contains several oils and cocoa butter, it requires an ingredient that gives it a solid texture. That ingredient is beeswax, and the waterproofing power is what you need if you plan on using this and getting wet.

Cocoa Butter

High in fatty acids, cocoa butter is touted for its ability to hydrate and nourish the skin. It also works to improve skin elasticity and works to form a protective barrier on the skin to seal in moisture. The phytochemicals in cocoa butter may improve blood flow to the skin and slow the aging process by protecting the skin from harmful UV rays. Unfortunately, the research is preliminary on cocoa butter’s sun protection abilities, so more research is still necessary.

DIY All Natural Sunscreen Recipe

Ingredients:

 • 1/2 cup avocado oil
 • 1/4 cup cocoa butter
 • 2 ounces beeswax pellets
 • 1/4 coconut oil
 • 1/4 cup non-nano zinc oxide
 • 15 drops essential oil of your choice (optional)

Instructions:

 • Add the avocado oil, cocoa butter, beeswax, and coconut to the top of a double boiler. If you don’t have a double boiler, place those ingredients in a heat-safe glass measuring cup, and place that cup in a saucepan with an inch or so of water over medium-low heat.
 • Once the ingredients are melted, give them a stir and remove from heat. Allow the mixture to cool for a few minutes before stirring in the non-nano zinc oxide.
 • Pour in the optional essential oil and whisk to combine. Transfer the mixture to a wide-mouthed glass jar. As a quick note, don’t add the essential oil if you plan to keep this in a plastic container for pool or beach use. The reason for that is because essential oils can break down plastics.
 • This recipe is right around 20 SPF. Use as needed.

If you want a luxurious beard that you can easily style, start using an all-natural beard balm to tame you mane. Men with thicker beards may have wiry or scraggly hairs that stick out at random. Some men choose to wet their hands in an attempt to control those hairs that stick out, but this is an ineffective strategy that may contribute to beard dryness.

When it comes to styling your beard, or at least preventing the grizzly untamed look, it’s best to use a beard balm. The healthy fats in a beard balm nourish both the facial hair and the skin under the beard. Beard balm differs from beard oil because it is solid at room temperature, whereas the oil is always liquid. Because of this, you have to melt the balm in your hands prior to applying it to your beard. Beard balms are great for anyone who experiences beard itch or beard dandruff. By delivering essential vitamins and moisturizing properties to the beard, your beard can be healthier and flake-free. Some of the best ingredients that facilitate this process are detailed below.

Beeswax

Beeswax is unworkable in the original state, so you have to melt it down with other ingredients to create a beard balm. Not only does beeswax benefit the hair and skin, but it also helps to tame flyaway hairs and frizzy beards. Containing both anti-allergenic and anti-inflammatory properties, beeswax works to soothe irritated and dry skin by locking in moisture. Additionally, beeswax helps to repel dirt and grime by acting as a sealant, so it keeps your beard hair shiny and healthy.

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil is a cosmetic oil that comes from the seeds of a shrub named Simmondsia chinensis. One of the main uses of jojoba oil is to promote hair growth. Men can experience difficulty with beard length because of dryness and breakage, which stem from a failure to moisturize. Jojoba oil adds moisture to the beard, which contributes to a longer, fuller beard. You can apply jojoba oil to your beard in the evening and allow it to sink in overnight. Incorporating it into a beard balm is another great way to apply it.

Coconut Oil

If you want a longer, thicker beard, then get your hands on some coconut oil. According to a 2003 study, coconut oil’s lauric acid may stimulate new hair growth. The low weight and molecular structure allow it to sink into the skin and hair follicles, rather than sitting on top of the skin like other oils. Hair loss in males primarily occurs because of protein loss, but coconut oil’s ability to stop protein loss makes it an excellent ingredient to promote hair growth. Coconut oil also works to condition the skin and add extra moisture, which reduces sebum build-up and dryness.

DIY All-Natural Beard Balm

Ingredients:

 • 1 cup coconut oil
 • 1/2 cup beeswax pastilles
 • 1 tablespoon jojoba oil
 • 20 drops cedarwood essential oil
 • 20 drops pine essential oil

Instructions:

 • Combine the coconut oil, beeswax pastilles, and jojoba oil in the top of a double boiler over medium heat.
 • Stir the mixture frequently until completely melted. Once you see that the ingredients are melted together, remove the double boiler from the heat.
 • Pour the mixture into a heat-safe 12-ounce glass jar. Once it cools slightly, pour in the essential oils and stir to combine.
 • Place the jar in the fridge and allow it to settle. When it sets completely, then it’s ready to use. Keep it in a cool, dry, place and use when needed, but once per day should suffice.

Have you ever noticed a foul smell in the kitchen? There are a few potential sources, but when you scrub away on those dishes or wipe down the sink area the smell intensifies. You may even put your face down into the sink and realize that the source is your garbage disposal. Don’t worry, because this is an extremely common occurrence. How do you get rid of the smell, though?

Some people have their tricks to get rid of foul garbage disposal odors, but not many last for very long. Fortunately, you can use all natural disposal fresheners that help eliminate smells and bacteria. The great thing about the freshener pods in this article is that they take less than an hour to make. They are completely natural and safe for the environment. Another major plus is that they won’t release harmful chemicals into your home. How do they do that? Continue reading to find out!

Baking Soda

Baking soda has a long list of benefits, and it seems that more and more people find unique ways to use it. On its own, baking soda can help remove odors from almost anything, be it a damp carpet or funky garbage disposal. Sprinkling baking soda in shoes can also help reduce fouls odors. The reason it can do this is because most smells are acidic. Baking soda is a natural base, helping to neutralize the acids that cause bad smells.

Salt

Salt is a mild antiseptic that works to cut through grease. It also has the ability to lift stains and eliminate odors. The great thing about salt is that it’s non-toxic, inexpensive, and readily available. Some people pour rock salt and ice down the garbage disposal and run it to help clean grime or bacteria off the blades. This powerful duo also helps to break up or dislodge food particles and excess debris in the disposal.

Lemon Essential Oil

Each essential oil has its own set of benefits that can benefit your body or home. Many people use them for aromatherapy benefits, but some are beneficial for non-toxic cleaning products. Lemon essential oil, for example, exhibits a powerful aroma that contributes to a fresher smelling space. The astringent and disinfectant properties help to fight grime and eliminate funky or musty odors from the air.

DIY Garbage Disposal Fresheners

Ingredients:

 • 1 cup baking soda
 • 1/2 cup salt
 • 3/4 cup liquid Castile soap
 • 30 drops lemon essential oil
 • 1/4 cup filtered water

Instructions:

 • Pour the baking soda and salt into a bowl and mix well to combine.
 • Add the Castile soap and essential oil to the same bowl, and then pour in the water, one tablespoon at a time.
 • Continue to mix while you add the water until the mixture resembles wet sand.
 • If you add too much water, you can add a little more baking soda to achieve the wet sand texture.
 • Pack the mixture into a silicone ice tray so you have little cubes. Let the molds set for about 24 hours.
 • Carefully pop them out of the molds and store the refreshers in a glass jar.
 • When ready to use, pop one refresher into the garbage disposal. Run a steady cold stream of water into the disposal and turn on the disposal for one minute. You should find that the smell disappears.

The post 3 Incredible DIY Face Scrub Recipes For Exfoliation appeared first on Dherbs - The Best All Natural Herbal Remedies & Products.

]]>

Exfoliation is an important step in any skin care routine. It’s a crucial process that aids with the removal of dead skin cells on the surface of your skin. The skin sheds these dead skin cells every 30 days, but sometimes it cannot get rid of them properly. This can result in clogged pores or dry, flaky skin.

Since there are so many exfoliation scrubs and tools, it can be hard to know which one is best. Do you go for the cucumber mint one or buy the one you keep seeing on commercials? Or do you make the responsible choice and opt for one that has very few chemicals? Well, if you choose a minimally processed, chemical-free option, why don’t you just make your own scrub to exfoliate your skin? It’s quite simple and you may already have the ingredients you need in your kitchen.

When Should You Exfoliate?

Well, this will entirely depend on daily routine, your skin type, and what you want to get out of exfoliating. People with dry or normal skin may only need to exfoliate once or twice per week, while others with oily skin require exfoliation every other day. For people with sensitive skin, it’s important to never exfoliate excessively.

Gentle exfoliation can help contribute to brighter, tone skin with a smooth appearance. Additionally, exfoliation can increase collagen production, which helps to improve skin elasticity. The skin develops wrinkles as you age because the dermis loses elastin. Promoting collagen production via exfoliation may reduce wrinkles and fine lines by keeping skin tight and healthy.

If you want to properly exfoliate, though, you need the right ingredients. Some of the best exfoliating ingredients are in the following three scrub recipes. If you make them, let us know how they work for you in the comments below. Happy exfoliating!

Almond & Avocado Face Scrub

Perfect for dry skin, this face scrub works to give life to dull skin. Even if your skin is oily, you may enjoy using this scrub. Did you know that oily skin can sometimes be the result of dry skin? If this is the case, this scrub is meant for you.

Ingredients:

 • 1/2 cup almond meal (ground almonds)
 • 1/2 avocado, peeled, pitted, and mashed
 • 1 tablespoon virgin coconut oil

Instructions:

 • Add all of the ingredients to a small glass bowl and mix to combine.
 • Before using, make sure to clean your face.
 • Massage the scrub gently in circular motions with your fingertips. Rinse away after a couple minutes.

Brown Sugar Face Scrub

Looking for a face scrub for all skin types? You just found it! This is an effective scrub that uses the exfoliating power of brown sugar, which is mild enough for sensitive skin, and gets the job done. Plus, the aroma of this scrub is intoxicating.

Ingredients:

 • 1.5 teaspoons brown sugar
 • 1 teaspoon raw honey
 • 1 teaspoon argan oil
 • 1/4 teaspoon mixed essential oils (lavender, peppermint, and rose)

Instructions:

 • In a small bowl, use your fingertips to mix the sugar, honey, and argan oil.
 • Drop in the essential oils and continue to mix in circular motions.
 • Start exfoliating gently in circular motions. After a couple minutes, rinse with warm water and then allow your face to air dry.
 • Remove any residual honey with a washcloth.

Coffee & Coconut Scrub

Besides being a delicious duo, coffee and coconut were made to revitalize your facial skin. Coffee grounds exhibit beneficial antioxidants that help nourish the skin, working to improve tone and elasticity. Keep in mind that coffee grounds may be too intense for people with sensitive skin. If this is the case, replace coffee grounds with almond meal.

Ingredients:

 • 1 tablespoon coffee grounds
 • 1 tablespoon virgin coconut oil

Instructions:

 • Add the coffee grounds to a small bowl and use your finger tips to mix in the coconut oil.
 • Once the mixture is thoroughly combined, gently massage it into your skin. Leave it on for a couple minutes before rinsing away with warm water.

People are under the impression that they need to purchase chemical products to clean or unclog drains. The harsh chemicals in these products are so caustic that they can burn the skin. They leave a chemical coating on the sink when they are attempting to unclog the drain. Contrarily, a non-toxic drain cleaner may be an effective, safe way to unclog a drain. If neither the chemical cleaner or the non-toxic cleaner are going to work, though, it’s best to use the non-toxic option, right? Right.

You may be interested to learn that Feng Shui masters say that clogged drains deplete your health, travel, finances, and aspirations. They may even lead to clogged sinuses! Whether or not that’s true remains to be seen, but a clogged drain is annoying and costly, especially if you have to involve a plumber. You don’t always need the chemical strength of a drain cleaner. You can often use a simple solution of a few natural ingredients, specifically vinegar and baking soda

How Do Baking Soda And Vinegar Unclog Drains?

Baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate, is a natural base, while vinegar is an acid. Combining an acid and a base creates an exchange of molecules that releases carbon dioxide. This bubbles through whatever is clogging the drain, attempting to loosen it and break it up into smaller material. It’s similar to the classic elementary school volcano science project that resulted in fizzy white “lava” that cascaded down the paper mache volcano.

That chemical reaction isn’t the only thing that works to fight drain clogs. You need one more ingredient besides baking soda and vinegar. That’s right, folks, this recipe requires boiling water. It’s a very rare substance, so we hope you can get your hands on it. All jokes aside, the boiling water creates added pressure to wash away any debris or goop out of the pipes.

How To Prime The Drain

Before you pour the DIY drain cleaner down the clogged drain, you have to remove as much standing water as you can. If the sink or tub is full of backed-up water, use a bucket to scoop out as much as possible. A little water is fine, but the baking soda and vinegar solution needs to be able to directly enter the drain opening. Also, be sure to remove the sink pop-up stopper if you have one in your sink or tub. This gives you better access to the drain.

DIY Drain Cleaner

Ingredients:

 • 1 cup boiling water
 • 1/2 cup baking soda
 • 1/2 cup vinegar

Instructions:

 • After clearing out the tub or sink with excess water (if that’s the case), pour the boiling water down the drain. Be careful while you pour the boiling water because you don’t want it to splatter.
 • Pour the baking soda into the drain followed by the vinegar.
 • Cover the drain with a stopper because the baking soda and vinegar will fizz and bubble up.
 • When you cover the drain, you force the reaction downwards to target the clog.
 • Wait 10 minutes and then pour another cup of boiling water down the drain to wash away the built-up and grime.
 • Finally, flush the drain with hot water from the tap to remove remaining debris.
 • This may take a few tries, but it’s a very simple method that can be effective and safe.

]]>

Nobody wants ants in their home, but everyone deals with them at some point. The summer heat is essentially a giant invitation for ants to come inside the home. That doesn’t mean your home is filthy; rather, it just proves that ants have a willpower to survive. Typically, people use chemical ant treatments to get rid of these pests, but spraying them increases the presence of harmful pesticides and chemicals in the home. Fortunately, there is another way to get rid of ants.

Before you reach for the natural alternative to chemical sprays and traps, you have to make the home unappealing to ants. Check kitchen cabinets and pantry shelves for crumbs or open food sources and seal them up if they aren’t infested. Keep the sink and food preparation areas clean and free of food scraps or waste. Check the baseboards, windows, and doors and seal them up with the appropriate caulk. Lastly, wash the insides of garbage bins or recycling containers and keep pet bowls free of food.

Essential Oils Repel Ants

Believe it or not, essential oils help repel ants because they have powerful aromas. The strong fragrances are pungent and ants don’t like them because they interfere with pheromones that ants use for coordination. Essential oils basically mask pheromone trails, and that deters ants from entering the home. You cannot just use any essential oil, though. There are specific essential oils that are more effective than others. Some of the most effective ones are detailed below.

Peppermint Essential Oil

Peppermint essential oil is high in menthol, which is beneficial for sore throats, headaches, and clogged nasal passageways. It is also an effective ant eliminator because they dislike the minty aroma. Some studies found that it also repels lice, mosquitos, fleas, moths, and spiders.

Citronella Essential Oil

Mosquitos, spiders, and ants all hate citronella. The aroma confuses their navigation, making it impossible for ants to coordinate. Laboratory tests found that citronella essential oil effectively killed 50% of the ants within 30 minutes after they encountered it. Furthermore, it killed 100% of the ants after 24 hours.

Clove Essential Oil

You have to be careful when using clove essential oil because too much can harm human senses. This is why you must properly dilute it before using it in the home. Similar to peppermint essential oil, clove essential oil interferes with pheromone trails that ants use to coordinate their movements. Several studies found that it is also effective at killing ants when sprayed on them.

Eucalyptus Essential Oil

Eucalyptus essential oil is very similar to citronella, which is effective against mosquitos and ants. According to anecdotal reports, it also works to repel ants. It’s also included in various insect-repelling candles, which confirms its efficacy against ants. Apply this to an area that ants have infested and they’ll be out of there or dead within a day.

Tea Tree Oil

Last, but certainly not least, is tea tree oil. Not only can tea tree oil eliminate the scent of ant trails and put a halt to infestations, but the oil can also kill ants when they encounter it. The combination of tea tree oil with peppermint essential oil suppresses scents and kills ants within 24 hours.

DIY Ant-Killing Spray

Ingredients:

 • 6 drops each citronella, clove, eucalyptus, tea tree, and peppermint essential oils
 • Distilled water
 • 8-ounce spray bottle

Instructions:

 • Remove the nozzle from the spray bottle and add six drops of each essential oil to it.
 • Fill the rest of the bottle with distilled water, screw on the top, and shake to combine.
 • Make sure that you shake the bottle before each use. You can spray this near windows, doors, or any place that you see ants.
 • Spray as often as necessary.

The post DIY All Natural Daily Face Moisturizer appeared first on Dherbs - The Best All Natural Herbal Remedies & Products.

]]>

Do you ever have those days when you don’t want to moisturize your face? Well, it’s better that actually moisturize and here’s why. Moisturizing is an essential step in your skin care routine, working to protect it from irritation while maintaining healthy skin cells. If that’s not an incentive to moisturize, perhaps this will convince you: statistically, people who moisturize religiously in their youthful years tend to have much healthier complexions later in life.

Why Should You Moisturize?

First and foremost, moisturizing is one of the most efficient ways to help discourage future breakouts. It’s very common for people with dry or irritated skin to experience frequent breakouts and acne. When you regularly moisturize, you can help to balance your skin’s oil production and complexion, reducing the risk of acne. While there are many commercial moisturizers in existence, not all of them are beneficial for your skin.

Many moisturizers contain ingredients that do more damage to your skin than good. You can apply some moisturizer, which you bought at a store, to your face and your skin feels dry minutes later. That doesn’t mean you should give up on moisturizers altogether. Failure to regularly moisturize can cause the skin to dry out or produce too much sebum. Hydrating the skin with a moisturizer leaves you with a vibrant complexion. The following ingredients can help encourage healthier skin by helping it retain moisture.

Coconut Oil

People have mixed feelings about applying coconut oil to the face. For people with sensitive or irritable skin, it is not wise to use coconut oil on the face in excess. Minimal use is best for this oil, which contains anti-inflammatory properties that protect the skin’s outer layer. Coconut oil’s fatty acids work to improve the skin’s barrier and encourage a more youthful glow. Dermatologists state that the high percentage of lauric acid works to fight bacteria on the skin, which is beneficial for preventing breakouts. Note: If you are prone to clogged pores, coconut oil may not be right for you.

Vitamin E Oil

Could vitamin E oil be the magical elixir for you skin? According to research, vitamin E oil contains beneficial antioxidants that help to nourish the skin. The same antioxidants work to slow down the skin’s natural aging process. Regular application, then, may help to slow the signs of aging. Vitamin E also works to reduce hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and even adds a healthy glow. People with dry skin should use vitamin E oil because many studies suggest that it has powerful moisturizing properties. Several studies even found that it may help to relieve mild psoriasis symptoms.

Shea Butter

Made from shea tree nuts, shea butter is one of the greatest ingredients to apply to your skin, especially if it is in need of moisture. The concentration of vitamins and fatty acids help soften the skin and deliver anti-inflammatory properties. Applying shea butter may help to tone and soothe the skin and provide a layer of moisture. Studies show that shea butter exhibits emollient properties. This means that you essentially create a barrier that seals in moisture after applying it to the skin. Lastly, shea butter works to either promote collagen production, or slows the breakdown of existing collagen. Experts aren’t entirely sure which it does, but it slows the aging process either way!

It’s no secret that everyone makes mistakes. The beauty of humans is that we are not perfect, but we have the ability to acknowledge imperfections and change for the better. One of the biggest changes we can make is to switch from unhealthy skin care products to natural homemade products. This seems like a hard transition, but it’s a lot simpler than you think. We’ll hold your hand to help you bridge the gap, and you can start with a simple face wash.

Acne is one of the most common skin problems in the world. Everyone is prone to breakouts, but they may not always result from poor dietary choices. Often times, the harsh chemicals in commercial skin care products contribute to frequent breakouts. Items that supposedly cleanse the skin and remove bacterial build-up end up clogging your pores. When you take the time to simplify and use natural ingredients, though, you’ll notice a positive change in your skin.

Raw Honey For Your Skin

Why should you lather your skin with something that sweetens your tea? As it turns out, people have used honey on their skin for centuries. It has powerful antibacterial properties that historically aided with wound healing and skin cleansing. Raw honey works to moisturize the skin from within. It can do this because honey’s enzymes easily penetrate the skin, softening and hydrating it from the inside. It also works to cleanse pores of blackheads. The antiseptic and antibacterial properties work to remove dirt, while simultaneously hydrating and tightening pores. This contributes to a clearer complexion.

Tea Tree Oil For Your Skin

Where do we begin? Tea tree oil is nature’s secret weapon. Research has shown that tea tree oil exhibits powerful antibacterial, anti-parasitic, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory properties. One of its most popular uses is to help get rid of acne. The antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties help to unclog pores, reduce redness, and reduce the frequency of breakouts. Tea tree oil may also enhance the natural glow of your skin. One study found that using tea tree oil in combination with a carrier oil on the face helped reduce oiliness. It also helps to hydrate the skin, and it even out-performed benzoyl peroxide for reducing dryness and flakiness.

Jojoba Oil For Your Skin

Jojoba oil is one of the best carrier oils to use on your skin. It’s a lighter oil, so it doesn’t feel heavy or thick after topical application. It works to hydrate the skin and provides optimal moisture by mimicking the skin’s natural oils. Jojoba oil actually tricks the skin into thinking that it has produced enough oil, eliminating the risk of excess oil production. The antibacterial properties also aid with acne reduction and controlled oil production. The high iodine content in jojoba oil helps to fight bacterial growth, which can cause breakouts. Finally, jojoba oil is the ultimate hydrator for your skin. By increasing natural moisture, jojoba oil contributes to a healthier, brighter glow.

DIY Toning & Clarifying Face Wash

Ingredients:

 • 1 cup filtered water
 • 1/4 cup liquid Castile soap
 • 5 teaspoons jojoba oil
 • 2 tablespoons raw honey
 • 1 teaspoon tea tree oil
 • 15 drops lavender essential oil
 • 10 drops rosemary essential oil

Instructions:

 • Add all of the ingredients to a dispenser bottle in the order that they are listed. Do not pour them in out of order or you will experience a soap disaster.
 • Gently stir the mixture to combine the ingredients. The mixture will look cloudy, but that is completely normal.
 • Place your dispenser bottle on your bathroom sink and use as you please.

How To Use:

 • Use one or two pumps of the soap and apply to your face. Rinse with lukewarm water after application.
 • It’s best to use once or twice daily. Make sure to give it a shake before each use.
 • If you don’t finish it within a month, discard the soap and make a new batch.

Is there anything worse than looking at a stainless steel appliance and seeing smudgy fingerprints all over it? The answer is “yes,” but we hope you thought “no” for the sake of this article. First world problems, are we right? Anyways, the goal is to keep stainless steel shiny and streak-free. As it turns out, you don’t need a chemical spray to make that happen.

Dishwashers, refrigerators, range hoods, faucets, and trashcans are common stainless steel items in a home. There are often manuals that detail information about these appliances, but rarely do the instructions tell you how to care for them. These high-touch appliances accumulate dirt, bacteria, fingerprints, and general grime. The last thing you want to do is scrub these appliances with an abrasive sponge. If you want to keep your stainless steel appliances looking shiny and new, you only need a few natural ingredients

Olive Oil

When it comes to polishing stainless steel appliances, or stainless steel in general, olive oil is one of the best ingredients for the job. Stainless steel smudges easily, especially with fingerprints. A handprint is easily visible on stainless steel or glass! Olive oil acts as a protective coating on the stainless steel. Olive oil helps to restore shine and reduce the chances of tarnishing. Just make sure to give the stainless steel a nice wipe down prior to using the olive oil.

Distilled White Vinegar

We’re not shy about our love for vinegar as a non-toxic cleaner. While it may not be a powerful disinfectant, it does have the ability to clean certain surfaces. Containing acetic acid, vinegar works to cut through grime and oils left by your hands on stainless steel. This means that instead of simply smearing old oils and grime around, vinegar actually removes all of that nastiness. It’s also inexpensive, non-abrasive, and free of harsh chemicals. That’s three wins for you and your stainless steel appliances!

A Quick Note

This non-toxic stainless steel polish is exactly that, a polish. That means that it helps stainless steel retain its shine between wipe downs. We recommend using a solution of soap and water and wiping down the stainless steel appliance with a microfiber towel. You don’t want to use an abrasive item like a sponge because it will scratch the appliance. Lastly, the essential oils in this recipe do contain some antibacterial properties, but they are mainly in this recipe to offer a lovely scent. That way, your house doesn’t smell like vinegar!

 • When you’re ready to use, shake up the bottle to mix. Spray on the already cleaned stainless steel appliance.
 • Use a microfiber cloth, or any soft cloth, and wipe with the grain of the stainless steel.
