Free yourself from the store bought box of popsicles that is seemingly healthy and go straight for the good stuff with these refreshing pineapple possibles. All you need are three simple ingredients and about 15 minutes of your time. Well, you also need to have some patience because the popsicles need to freeze before you can enjoy them. In fact, we think that waiting is the hardest part of this entire recipe!

Popsicles make for the perfect summer treat, whether you want to cool off on a hot day or make healthy treats for the little ones. Not only are these pineapple popsicles raw vegan, but they are free of the unhealthy colors, syrups, and artificial flavors that most store bought popsicles have. They are also highly versatile, meaning you can add or subtract ingredients if you so desire. Just make sure that the ingredients you add are cleanse-approved if you still want this recipe to be raw vegan. You can add mango, passion fruit, or even berries!

When it comes time to pick your pineapple, make sure to choose a ripe one. The easiest way to do this is by pulling one or two of the central green leaves out of the top. If the leaves come out easily, then the pineapple is ripe and good to go. If it is hard to pull one out, the pineapple still needs time to ripen. Using a sweet pineapple is totally fine because of the fresh lime juice in the popsicles. It really goes well with pineapple sweetly tart flavor. We hope you love this recipe as much as we do. Tag us if you take a pic with one in the summer sun!

Maintaining proper hydration is one of the most important aspects of life, regardless of the season. The body needs water for many bodily functions, including circulation, temperature regulation, and even immunity. When you drink a sufficient amount of water, you may even help balance your mood and improve sleep quality. Dehydration, on the other hand, can lead to a handful of unpleasant symptoms, including headaches, fatigues, decreased cognitive function, and dizziness. In severe cases, dehydration may cause heat exhaustion or stroke.

In order to avoid the effects of dehydration, you have to stay on top of your water intake. Drinking water isn’t as exciting as drinking other beverages, but it is necessary for your health. You can always enhance your hydration efforts by drinking herbal teas, freshly made juices or smoothies, or drinking electrolyte-rich drinks (preferably not the bottled varieties with processed ingredients and added sugars).

You can help meet your daily hydration goals by eating water-rich foods. Foods that contain water, in addition to the other nutrients, help protect the body from dehydration. Plus, the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fiber, protein, and more in these foods benefit your health in other ways. The top choices include watermelon, tomatoes, cucumbers, celery, strawberries, spinach, lettuce, and zucchini. For inspiration, here is a list of seven hydrating recipes to enjoy this summer.

If you want to sneak more vegetables into your diet, smoothies and popsicles (believe it or not) are two of the best ways to do so. That is especially true if you have children and want to sneakily get them to enjoy more vegetables. These popsicles are more like smoothie pops because you blend the ingredients together prior to pouring the mixture into popsicle molds. In doing so, you completely disguise the carrots amongst the blended orange flesh, fresh orange juice, and agave nectar. You and your child(ren) will not even notice the carrot in this recipe!

As a general rule of thumb, most things that make a smoothie delicious also make for a great popsicle. That could be green smoothie popsicles or these orange carrot popsicles. Not only are carrots rich in beta-carotene, but they also have a naturally sweet flavor, so your taste buds won’t be shocked by any pure carrot flavor. It’s not like you’re taking a big snap of a carrot after enjoying wings or anything like that! Although, if you are familiar with eating carrots, you know that beneath the subtle woody flavor is a natural sweetness. If you feel more adventurous once you finish cleansing, add some steamed beets or boiled sweet potatoes to this recipe!

For popsicle molds, we love environmentally-friendly silicone molds, especially since the popsicles come out of them so easily. You can also use quick freeze molds, which do come at a higher price point because they have quick-freezing technology that will freeze popsicles in minutes. Finally, if you want a popsicle for on-the-go purposes, you can get single-use plastic push pops. These are great for serving kids. Don’t have popsicle molds? No problem! You can use muffin tins, shot glasses, ice cube trays, or yogurt containers!

Popsicles may be the most enjoyable frozen treats for kids, but you can refresh your palate as an adult with these desserts as well. Nothing cools you off like a frozen treat from the freezer on a warmer spring day. Now, the weather isn’t just instantaneously hot just because spring has sprung. That said, it is warming up and there is nothing quite like the newest crave-able popsicle straight out of your kitchen.

Allow us to introduce you to our raw vegan cantaloupe popsicles! Perfectly cleanse-approved and undeniably delicious, these popsicles are based on creamy melon bars, which are commonly made with honeydew. Cantaloupe, however, is a little creamier, and the texture of these pops is more akin to a creamsicle. The only difference is that these popsicles contain three ingredients, not 45 mysterious ingredients, many of which you cannot even pronounce. You can truly taste the difference, and you’ll feel the difference, too!

When it comes to making your own popsicles, we recommend that you use silicone molds. The classic plastic popsicle molds make it difficult to get the popsicles out. Silicone molds make this process so much easier, especially if you run the molds under a little warm water to aid the removal process. Just make sure that the popsicles are completely frozen before you try to remove them. This typically takes about four to six hours, but may require more time. Once you finish your cleanse, you can use coconut milk in place of homemade almond milk. The coconut milk yields a creamier consistency.

Finding ripe mangos in the supermarket is such a lovely treat. You can enjoy them raw as a healthy snack, blend them into smoothies, add them as a topping to chia pudding, or incorporate them into healthy desserts. Mangos are incredibly versatile and go great with a variety of flavors. They provide a tropical sweetness that can refresh you on a hot day, making them a great fruit for summer.

Summertime is the best time to make homemade popsicles. Just make sure that you enjoy them quickly before all of that deliciously frozen mango starts melting onto your hands. Unlike traditional popsicles that you buy in the store, these mango popsicles don’t freeze in the same way. That is because of the sugar! Natural sugars don’t necessarily freeze the same way as high fructose corn syrup and other processed sugars, which are typically in store bought popsicles. This recipe calls for maple syrup, but you can use raw agave nectar as a direct swap if you have it on hand.

For this recipes, you will need six cups of mango chunks. If fresh mangos are not readily available for you, you can use frozen mangos, provided they do not have added sugars or preservatives. That is a great cleansing hack for smoothies or other recipes that require frozen fruit! Lastly, if you have silicone popsicle molds, use them because the popsicles come out much more easily than they do from plastic molds.

With the 4th of July knocking at the door, you’ve most likely gathered ingredients to create an impressive spread. Are you going to fire up the grill and char some vegetables or impress the skeptics with some meatless burgers? The fact of the matter is that so many traditional meat-centric dishes have vegan alternatives nowadays. That said, grilling some Impossible patties or Beyond sausages is not the healthiest way to eat. In fact, it’s just as unhealthy as eating a plateful of burgers and hotdogs.

Independence Day cookouts commonly revolve around food because food brings people together. People can share stories, laugh, cry, and have a great time cooking and eating together. Much like music, food is a universal language that seems to unite complete strangers. You don’t need words to communicate how delicious a meal is. Hand gestures and facial expressions can reveal the truth!

If your goal is to enjoy delicious food and be a little healthier this Independence Day, head to the grocery store after perusing the following recipes. All of the recipes are vegan-friendly and they range from savory to sweet. After all, you need everything from appetizers and snacks to entrees and desserts for a successful 4th of July celebration. If you end up making one or more of the following recipes, post a picture and tag us @dherbs on the Gram! Stay safe and eat well, everyone!

It might not be the Summer of Love, but you’ll love these summery, homemade popsicles. With just three simple, real-food ingredients, these strawberry orange popsicles are to die for. It’s like a sweet and tangy union of strawberries and oranges, with a sweet note from the maple syrup. It’s like a match made in flavor heaven, or in this case, your freezer. You can enjoy them as an adult or make them for your kids. You’re never too old to enjoy a popsicle, especially if the weather is hot!

What’s great about these popsicles is that they are so easy to make. You need three ingredients, a blender, and popsicle molds. We recommend using silicone popsicle molds because you can get the pops out of them much more easily than a classic plastic mold. You know those old school popsicle molds that broke the pops as you tried to take them out.

Homemade strawberry orange popsicles have a just the right amount of sweetness with a tiny hint of tartness. They are loaded with vitamin C and have very few calories. Because strawberries are usually on the Dirty Dozen list (click here for more info on that), we recommend that you get organic strawberries. Also, if you are not cleansing, you do not have to make freshly squeezed orange juice. We do encourage you to purchase the option that is cold-pressed, though, as most store bought orange juice varieties contain preservatives and excess sugar.

“If you like piña coladas
And gettin’ caught in the rain.
If you’re not into yoga
If you have half a brain…”

If you want to escape and get lost in that song about drinking piña coladas, then you are going to love this recipe. The overly sweet, rum-filled beverage takes a healthy turn, leaving syrup, canned juice, and alcohol behind. For this recipe, you only require two ingredients: pineapple and coconut milk. These pineapple coconut popsicles just feel right to eat now that the sun is shining a lot more! We don’t know how you feel about store bought popsicles, but you can feel good about giving your kids these homemade ones.

The cheap popsicles contain artificial food dyes, added sugars, and “natural” flavors that aren’t so natural. Even the more expensive varieties can contain a decent amount of added sugars. Why worry about ingredients when it is very inexpensive to make your own popsicles at home. There are silicone molds with reusable plastic handles readily available, so you can make them regularly. Plus, if you get those, then you don’t have to get popsicle sticks.

You cannot beat the freshness that you get from these pineapple coconut popsicles. The coconut milk gives them a creamy texture, and it also is a perfect match for the fresh pineapple. You can cube your pineapple and freeze it overnight, or you can blend fresh cubes with the coconut milk. If you use frozen pineapple chunks, the time it takes for the popsicles to solidify in the freezer is less than if you use fresh pineapple. Consider which route you want to take, but there is one important step you cannot avoid: enjoying these tasty vegan desserts!
