We are very excited to share this homemade bitchin’ sauce, which looks like hummus but is made from almonds. Bitchin’ Sauce is a brand that is readily available in many supermarkets, and you can typically find various flavors. This homemade version doesn’t contain any preservatives or excess sodium and it is 100% raw vegan. That makes this dip great for anyone following our cleansing programs. It goes great with almost any raw vegetable, but we prefer it with celery, carrots, mini sweet bell peppers, broccoli, snap peas, or cauliflower.

Because this bitchin’ sauce uses almonds as the base, it has a thicker consistency, but isn’t quite as thick as hummus. Not only that, this sauce is oil-free, which helps to cut down on the calories. Almonds, just like other nuts, are calorically-dense, so keep that in mind when enjoying this dip. Trust us when we tell you that you will want to eat the entire batch. Although it contains ingredients that benefit your overall health, eating too much of it will not do you any favors. Don’t do it! Your waistline will regret it!

Once you make this recipe and get comfortable with the ingredients, you can start to flavor it differently. Play around with the seasonings to start developing different bitchin’ dip flavors. Perhaps you add some sun-dried tomatoes and basil, or garlic, herbs, and lemon. The possibilities are endless, but keep in mind that the more fresh ingredients you add to the dip, the shorter it will keep fresh in the fridge, even in an airtight container.

When the chips and salsas are out, it’s hard to leave them alone. You can call this intuition or an immense desire to enjoy a salty snack. Salsa tends to reign supreme in the dip category, but only if it tastes great. Terrible salsa is not only an insult to your palate, but also your overall health. A jar of salsa doesn’t offer any nutritional value and can be overly sweet or salty, depending on the variety. That’s why it is always better to make your own, especially since it is very easy.

Some people do not label a dip as a salsa unless it is blended or smooth. For example, a salsa verde or roja is a true salsa, whereas pico de gallo may not be viewed that way to some salsa purists. We are not here to judge or change your opinion on what a salsa is, but this recipe, be it a salsa or not, is an insanely tasty dip. It is sweet, spicy, zesty, refreshing, and highly addictive. Additionally, the salsa offers a wide range of nutrients, given that it contains a mix of colorful fruits and vegetables. If you need antioxidants and vitamin C, this is the salsa for you!

This salsa offers two sweet components: strawberries and mangos. Don’t think that this is just an overwhelming bowl of sweetness, though. The red onion, jalapeño, cilantro, and lime juice create a balanced flavor profile that makes each bite more enjoyable than the last. As a final note, don’t worry if the mango isn’t the sweetest, most tropical mango you’ve ever tasted. It is perfectly fine if the mangos are slightly underripe.

Do you pour this over zucchini noodles or is it made out of zucchini? The correct answer is: both! This quick pesto sauce is raw vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, and contains a generous serving of vegetables in each bite. Serve it as a dip, spread, or as a sauce for some zoodles or regular noodles.

We like to stray from the well-traveled path and pave our own way, especially in regards to flavors. That’s how this zucchini pesto sauce came to be. It’s a tasty and zesty twist on a classic pesto recipe that exhibits an impressive nutritional profile. This pesto sauce is more akin to an avocado pesto, in the sense that it is a little thicker and creamier than a regular pesto. Like any great pesto, this recipe contains nuts, only we use walnuts instead of pine nuts. If you prefer other nuts, then you can use almonds, cashews, or pine nuts instead. If you want to enjoy a nut-free version, use pumpkin seeds.

Because zucchini contain a lot of water, you have to do your best to squeeze the water out before blending it with the rest of the ingredients. Grate the zucchini with a cheese grater, place it in a cheesecloth, and squeeze out as much water as you can. You don’t want excess water, or else your pesto will become too watery. Just make sure that you use this pesto relatively quickly, because it only keeps fresh in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days.

Is it possible to live off dips? Well, that all depends on the dips you choose and the vessels you choose to dunk in your dips. Although it works as a sustainable diet for Martin Short’s character in Only Murders In The Building, solely eating dips is not a healthy way to live. Eating a nutritious, homemade dip, is much healthier than eating a store bought dip, as most jarred salsas and such are replete with preservatives, excess sodium, dyes, and artificial flavors.

We feel lucky to have stumbled on this spicy green cashew dip, which we created via trial and error to get it just right. It is luxuriously creamy, almost like an avocado puree, and bursting with flavor in every bite. It’s almost as if the cashew dip of our dreams was born out of a handful of ingredients! This incredible dip comes together with a mere five ingredients, plus water and a little sea salt and pepper for extra flavor. Raw cashews give this sauce that silky smooth consistency you want from a dip. Just make sure that you soak them for about 40 minutes in warm water for optimum creaminess.

If you shy away from spice, you can omit the jalapeño, or simply add less half of a pepper instead of a full one. Like things extra spicy? Include the seeds from the pepper! You can still taste the spice if you leave the seeds out. The fresh lime juice will help cut the spice just a little and brings out the freshness of the cilantro. Finally, you will most likely need to scrape down the sides of your blender or food processor once or twice to ensure you get an even, smooth dip.

For many Americans, the predominant feasting days are Thanksgiving, Christmas, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Super Bowl Sunday. The Super Bowl, also known as the big game, is not just an ordinary watch party to cheer on football teams. It is a day to enjoy everyone’s favorite snacks, comfort foods, and drinks. The spread is almost more important than the game, commercials, and halftime show.

Super Bowl Statistics

During Super Bowl Sunday, an estimated 48 million Americans order take out. 60% of those take out orders are pizza, which is partially attributed to all the advertisements. Plus, pizza is an easy entree that can feed a lot of people. In addition to pizza, chicken wings and chips and dips are the most popularly ordered foods. Did you know that an estimated 1.25 billion chicken wings are eaten during Super Bowl Weekend? That equates to nearly 162.5 million pounds of chicken, proving that this weekend is responsible for 7% of chicken sales for the year.

Food and beverages account for the majority of spending on the game. Total spending on food, drinks, apparel, and decorations for the 2024 game is expected to reach $17.3 billion, which equates to $86.04 per person. An analytics survey found that a record 200.5 million U.S. adults plan to watch the big game. The game is important to 44% of viewers, with the halftime show being most important to 19% of viewers. Commercials interest 18% of viewers, and some people bet more on commercials than the actual game!

If you want to take a different approach to your game day spread, we’ve got some great recipes for you. The following appetizers and dips may not even make it past the first half! That’s how good they are! Let us know which ones you end up making on game day in the comments.

Okay, folks, picture this: you are sitting in front of a bowl of a tangy and refreshing mango radish salsa. Will it make your taste buds jump for joy? There is only one way to find out how delectable this vibrant concoction of ingredients is, and that is to dig in! This salsa combines the sweet tropical flavor of mangoes with the crisp, pepperiness of the watermelon radish. Add in sweetly tart cherry tomatoes, refreshing cilantro and cucumber, and the zesty lime juice and you’re guaranteed to have a flavor explosion in every bite.

Not only does this salsa exhibit refreshing flavors, but it also brings some impressive health benefits to the table. You’ll notice that this salsa is more like a pico de gallo, but this recipe excludes jalapeño. If you crave that spice, feel free to finely dice a pepper and fold it into the mix!

The Benefits

  • Mangos are tropical fruits that contain lots of vitamins C and A, both of which encourage healthy immune function and healthier skin. Plus, mangos offer lots of dietary fiber, aiding digestion and helping you feel fuller for longer.
  • Watermelon radishes are mesmerizing to look at. Although these humble root veggies are small, they pack a serious nutritional punch. Radishes are a great source of vitamin C, folate, and potassium, and research shows that their compounds support the liver and regulate blood pressure.
  • Cucumbers are refreshing and full of beneficial vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, C, & K, potassium, and calcium. Studies suggest that cucumber consumption can help you achieve your daily hydration requirements, given their impressive water content.
  • Cilantro can actually help rid the body of heavy metals, including arsenic, cadmium, aluminum, lead, and mercury. Cilantro can bind to these toxic metals, loosen them from tissues, and help eliminate them from the body.
  • Cherry tomatoes, like other types of tomatoes, are naturally rich in lycopene, which is an antioxidant compound that may reduce inflammation. Several compounds in cherry tomatoes have also been associated with lower risk of multiple diseases, including some forms of cancer, but more research is necessary.

Raw Vegan Cashew Boursin Cheese https://www.dherbs.com/recipes/recipe/raw-vegan-cashew-boursin-cheese/ Fri, 27 Oct 2023 17:46:00 +0000 https://www.dherbs.com/?post_type=recipe&p=165437

If you love to snack or graze on snackable items, we welcome you to the family. Certain people prefer three designated meals a day, and that is perfectly acceptable. Others also like to have designated meals, but they enjoy some snack time between meals. Snacks don’t have to be unhealthy or devoid of nutrients; rather they can be like this raw vegan cashew Boursin cheese, which is made with five simple ingredients. Enjoy it with celery, carrot, or bell pepper sticks while you cleanse!

Boursin cheese is a soft, creamy cheese that you can usually find in most grocery stores. It is spreadable and comes in many flavors. The texture is akin to cream cheese and the first Boursin flavor, Garlic and Fine Herbs, was created in 1957. Francois Boursin, the man behind this cheese invention, was the first person to flavor a cheese product. Boursin cheese is a product, but this recipe is like the raw vegan copycat version. It only requires raw cashews, homemade almond milk, lemon juice, garlic powder, and fresh herbs.

Because you want this “cheese” to be as spreadable as possible, you have to soak the cashews in warm water for about 15 minutes before you blend the ingredients. The cashews will soften and be ready for blending because of this extra step. You can use a high-speed blender, but a food processor will yield a smoother consistency. After blending, spoon the mixture into a small bowl and fold in the freshly chopped herbs. At this point, you can serve the Boursin cheese with fresh vegetables and store leftovers in a container in the fridge for up to three days.

A good spread, especially if it is a healthy one, is always good to have on hand. With pear season nearing its end, there has never been a better time to make pear butter. Similar to apple butter, pear butter has warming fall spices that are addictively delicious. You’ll want to spread this on everything! Well, maybe it won’t go great on your roasted vegetables, but it does elevate toast and raw fruit slices.

Pear season ends in October, which is why you’ve probably seen a plethora of pears in grocery stores and farmers’ markets. Most pears (about 95%) are grown in the United States and tend to come from California, Oregon, and Washington. While we cannot control how your palate feels about pears, we can tell you that the most common and tasty varieties are Bosc, Bartlett, Anjou, Concorde, Forelle, and Comice pears. If you have a lot of pears and need to use them before they go bad, this pear butter is the recipe you’ve been searching for. It helps preserve the pears, so you won’t waste them.

Because this recipe does not come together in a slow cooker, it does take about 45 to 50 minutes to come together. You want to cook it low and slow because the pears need to soften in order to easily blend them into a smooth and luxurious butter. This is a spread that you’ll be craving from the moment you try it! Let us know how you like it in the comments below.

Finally, a sauce that doesn’t require a blender! Sometimes, it’s nice to simply pour ingredients into a bowl, whisk them together, and then enjoy immediately. This chili lime tahini sauce is creamy and has a nutty, slightly spicy flavor with a zesty citrus flair. It serves as a perfect dip for your vegetable tray, but it also makes for a great salad dressing or drizzle for tacos, bowls, and so much more. It’s the condiment that you never knew you needed!

Tahini is a great ingredient, nay, a must-have ingredient in your kitchen. It adds a rich, nutty flavor and creamy texture to sauces, dressings, dips, and more. Besides the fact that it adds great flavor to recipes, tahini also exhibits some surprising health benefits. Tahini is naturally rich in healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals, with just one tablespoon providing more than 10% of the recommended daily intake for some nutrients. Tahini is especially high in lignan sesamin, a compound that exhibits promising antioxidant potential in animal and test-tube studies. More research is needed to fully understand the effects in humans, though.

This sauce is truly addictive, but we understand that you may not be able to finish it the same day you make it. If you have leftover tahini sauce, store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days. If it thickens up in the fridge, shake it up with a splash of water to help thin it out. Ideally, it should be pourable and smooth!

We’re going to say this right away: this is one of those recipes you want to save. It is rich, but not overwhelming. Use it as a condiment, dip, spread, or sauce. You get that signature cheesy flavor without having to use fattening, sodium-rich cheese. You may love it so much that you abandon regular nacho cheese sauce for good!

Unlike other raw vegan “cheese” sauces, this nacho cheese sauce is completely nut-free. Instead of nuts or seeds, this sauce uses zucchini, red bell pepper, and nutritional yeast as thickening/flavor agents. The nutritional yeast is where that cheese flavor comes from, and it provides vegans with essential vitamin B12, which they typically lack due to their diet. Because zucchini has a lot of water, though, you have to dehydrate zucchini slices for about one hour at 115º F prior to blending it with the rest of the ingredients. That step, which may seem annoying, will help your sauce retain a luxuriously thick consistency.

The reason that this recipe uses zucchini instead of cashews is to help ease digestion. It is best that you do not mix a starch with protein. This may not matter so much to everyone, but those with sensitive digestive systems can benefit from knowing these types of food combining rules. If you ever want to familiarize yourself with those rules, click here for more information. Until then, enjoy the recipe!
